I love this Home Depot! It does not matter which department I am in, " I receive 'EXCELLENT SERVICES'." This day was a little more special than other times. Between this 2- young and wonderful individuals ( Nick and Erin) ; " l learned how to install my own deadbolt and bottom door lock handle." We first had to find the right type (required and accepted) by my apartment complex. We got through that with some serious and detailed discussion. I was going to go with a double deadbolt top lock and with "Nick," he helped me understand why that was not a good idea. In case I had a fire, " I did not need to be looking for keys to unlock the top deadbolt." So, I went with the "flip lock; but still an excellent deadbolt and very well made." Also, Nick helped me; " pick a lock set that had a "deadbolt and bottom lock handle," that was matching and a "really great deal for the money! He save me a whole bunch of money." Locks and Deadbolts are expensive. Then, we all sat down and " these 2- young people helped know how to install my locks." They gave me individual bags so the components did not get mixed up! So, when I got home it was a "walk in the park." Also, " they walked me to returns and there I met "Jasmine." ( Delightful) She refunded an item I had and that went toward the new purchases! Worst customer service. Home Depot online is a JOKE. I ordered a mini fridge from Home Depot online. 1. The order came damaged in 4 different spots 2. The outside box was not damaged by any means 3. Which tells me that Home Depot repackaged a damaged fridge and sent it to my house. I talked to Home Depot support and said that they could have USPS pick up the unit at my house with timeframes ranging from 6am to 8pm. They said I could set the fridge on my porch and USPS can pick it up that way (so someone can steal it and I'm out my refund, no thanks) and then they said I could order another fridge but I would have to pay for it and I can't just SWITCH the fridge out. I said no thanks because I'm apprehensive that the same thing will happen. So I had to take my time, energy and money to drop off this damaged item I paid full price for. I go to the store take it back and process the refund. The next day I check my Home Depot account and realized I was DOUBLE charged for the fridge. $259.67 for fridge + extended warranty and 2 other separate charges - 1. For the fridge $222.59 and 2. $37.08 for the extended warranty independently. I called Home Depot support to tell them I have been double charged and they tell me it must be a glitch but they are processing a refund for the $222.58 and $37.08. I got a call about 10 hours later (20 minutes ago about) for the lady to argue with me on the phone saying that the reason I got called the $259.67 was when they ship the item, but it should have dropped off once I got the item and the $222.58 and $37.08 was the actual charge. BUT get this, she stands ten toes down that I wasn't charged TWICE but yet, she recommends I take it up with my BANK and that everything on their side was handled.. I'm absolutely done with Home Depot. I'm sick of these people wasting my time and doing the bare minimum. read more

First time at this Home Depot that's a hike from where I reside. It's actually not far from the NC border. This location stocked kitchen fluorescent bulbs that I needed after calling to confirm. Parking is spacious and I found it debris free. The store had lots of flowers out front for Spring planting and it looked great enhancing the entrance. A staff assisted me with locating the bulbs. After confirming the accuracy I headed to self checkout. No issues and I was in my way. read more

What really stands out about this particular Home Depot (HD) in Chesapeake is the customer service. Even though HD is a large chain, this location manages to give off a local neighborhood store feel, at least to me anyway, and that is thanks to the staff. When we first moved here, we had what seemed like a never ending list of renos to do (still a work in progress) so this HD location was our first stop. The staff really took the time to explain their products and services to us and provided suggestions based on personal reno experiences. Just real friendly and nice people. We ended up getting the carpet installed through HD which has a partnership with Romanoff Flooring, with the help of the staff in setting up the project. Since then, we visit this store for frequently for various other house things. - Military - If you're military, they offer a military discount on most things (for carpet installation, it does not apply to labor and they actually put a cap on the carpet purchase). They've recently changed the way they apply the military discount as well. You can now register via their app and you are issued a QR code to scan at checkout. This also applies to online purchases, which was not offered previously. They used to have a staff member manually check the ID and then override the transaction. This is new method is so much faster and easier! An almost constant disappointment, I placed an online curbside pickup order today at 8 o'clock, ordered two small items. Finally called them at 10:30 to ask how long the order was going to take to be ready for pick up, it had already been 2.5 hours. They put me on hold, came back 5 min later and said it would be another two hours. Heck with that, I was already in the parking lot. So I canceled the order, went into the store, and of course they don't have any of the items I was trying to purchase, which their inventory system had said they had 12 of. Asked an employee why the app says they have things that they didn't have. Response: "Oh, you can't believe the online inventory." Epic fail. - Inventory control is a joke - Online ordering system: misleading. Better order a day in advance, become there is NO sense of urgency to fulfill those orders in a timely fashion. Today's visit is awesome! I've been looking for landscape timber but my local store has been out of them for weeks and not expecting anymore in for a couple more weeks. I had called around, including a Home Depot store in Kitty Hawk. The Kitty Hawk store has them but the customer service when I called was horrible from the lumber department. The guy hilariously answered the phone with "who's this?" and "what do you want?". I wanted to say "Umm...to talk to your manager!", but I just went shopping fir what I need at another store instead and my recommendations will come with me . I looked through HD online and found that the Chesapeake, VA store also has what I needed. Came here this AM but god forbid...could NOT find these timbers. I stopped and asked an associate in lumber. Not only did he tell me where they were located, he showed me where they were (unexpected from me). He then helped me cut the timber into the sections that I needed for my project...AWESOME! I'd definitely recommend this store based on my customer service experience today!!! One thing I wish they'd carry here is quality tools (eg Craftsman, etc) rather than the cheaply made stuff from Husky. read more

Having always been a Lowe's kinda girl I was disappointed when we moved to the country and only had a HD. All that changed though on my first visit in. I can't decide if it was the extremely knowledgeable employees, their willingness to help or the abundance of them that won me over but I'm now a Home Depot woman. Since moving out here we have only been back to Lowe's once and I don't know why I was so infatuated with them. I couldn't wait to leave their Military Hwy location. Granted, they had an abundance of workers milling about but not one of them offered to help us. If it wasn't for the grill we bought that day, I'd never go back. Oh, the paint dept? It is the bomb! LaTonya is an attribute to be treasured. I couldn't decide on a paint color because of the natural wood trim in our bedroom so she suggested we go with sage tint (which was actually on my short list of colors). She couldn't have been more right. It turned out stunning! Since the pic was taken we've replaced the ceiling fan, 2 light fixtures and have a list of projects to be completed. We asked for assistance with trees that were outside their garden center. The garden center cashier, "Ruth", said she would have someone meet us at the trees. We waited approximately 25 minutes but no one showed & no one told us otherwise. When we returned to the cashier, "Ruth" shrugged her shoulders & told us there was no answer when she called for garden center assist but she never bothered to make us aware of that. We asked her about their warranty on trees purchased with them & again received a shrug, stating she did not know & seemed to care less about finding an answer. Needless to say, "Ruth" was useless to us on this visit to Home Depot! read more

I can't say I notice too much of a difference between the different Home Depot's other than the service and this one has always been great. Since spring hit my wife and I seem to be here every other weekend to work on little projects that keep popping up. Each time we walk in the door someone in an orange apron is immediately upon us to funnels us right direction of where we need to be. If we have a confused look on our face or pause just a little they walk us there. Also, I can't remember ever going there and not finding what we needed so I'd have to say they keep it pretty well stocked. Being retired Navy we especially enjoy the military discount on any of our purchases and the return policy is also quite good so when I purchase the wrong item, which seems to happen a lot, I can take it back without any hassle...even if it's months later. Although our kids are much older (thankfully, lol) I do enjoy seeing the kids taking the classes they have when we come walking in and out of the store on the weekends. Seeing kids smile is always a great way to start off the day. Overall I give the HD 4 Stars and my business. read more

I've never been treated so rudely my an employee at any business. Employees were in abundance in the store but none of them were willing to help me. We were finally able to stop Mike to help with molding and he was annoyed instantly . This was after another employee not only ignored me, but then pulled a gate to block me from following him to ask for help. Mike's answer to my husband's question was answered 3 times in succession with a monosyllabic whisper. What were we're looking for was not where he said so he got annoyed and just walked away. I wanted to describe the great experience I had at this particular Home Depot last week. I was unfortunate enough to have an issue with a broken valve behind the fridge the day before I was suppose to have a new fridge installed. After calling around to 8 different plumbers I was unable to have anyone come out the same day. It was made more of an unfortunate incident when that was the same week as Spring Break so companies were short staffed. Well, it was an obstacle but did my best to get it resolved myself. After heading over to Home Depot I was unsure exactly which repair items I needed with 100's of valves lining the shelves. Along came Mike D who was a savior. Told him my issue and he recommended a few different options. In the end, the valve was fixed with Mike's assistance and saved me at least $100. If you happen to be in the plumbing department be sure to look for Mike. He's a great help! read more

I enjoy going to Home Depot. I am not an frequent shopper, because I do not do repairs or contruction, but I go there for decor several times a year. (Plants, Window privacy film, Paint...etc) They have such a great selection of items and everyone there is ALWAYS helpful. They continually ask me if I need any help (then again, that could be because of the lost look on my face...lol) or if I found everything I needed. I am a military wife and just found out recently that they offered a military discount, which is nice. In fact, I am heading back there today for more plants! read more

This location has the BEST customer service. We bought a door and had HD hire a contractor for installation. Well we ended up having some issues with our door installation and a dispute with the contractor. Not only did HD help us (specifically Kevin in the doors and windows dept.) through this dispute and get it corrected, they even offered to send a manager skilled in construction on a SUNDAY to fix my door in case it wasn't fixed to my satisfaction ... thankfully i didn't need to take them up on the offer but I was astounded at the lengths they were willing to go to make sure I was completely satisfied. My family will definitely continue to shop with them for all of our future home improvement needs. read more

Home Depot's outsourced delivery company is pathetic, this is the third time they have missed a delivery date and a window of 4 hours, with no calls, not attempts to reschedule. When you finally do get ahold of them you are always greeted by some rude customer service rep who refuse to help out. Example. We had an appliance delivery date of 7/27/20 between 12:30 pm and 4:30 PM, when no calls were received from them at 4:20 PM we called to find out the status, the automated line said the delivery was still scheduled but that they were running late. we waited an additional 90 minutes, no calls, not update. On the morning of 7/28/20 we were able to get a wonderful angry and rude customer service rep on the line (1-800-455-3869) who took 20 minutes to figure out what was happening, she said" there are lots of problems with this delivery, we can come out Friday 7/31...4 days late, when I asked if they could return today she said NO...I said how about Wednesday she said NO....I said can I speak to a supervisor, she said Ill cancel your order and hung up on me.....We spend ten's of thousands of dollars annually with Home Depot, but the customer service is getting worse and worse, maybe we should go back to the mom and pop stores that at least speak to you respectfully, truly disappointing, by the way I called the store the appliance was ordered from (Everett MA) and have been on hold for 15 minutes and counting, who wants to take bets they will be just as useless at resolving this issue...taking bets now read more

My house flooded a few months back so I have been visiting this location ALOT. The prices and selection are standard for a home depot. They usually have what I am looking for and the location is convenient. The customer service is awful. Cashiers are rude and there seems to be large groups standing around and chatting instead of working everytime I visit. Many times I have requested help finding an item and the response is "I don't know" and they proceed to have me follow them around the store aimlessly looking for it. On June 1, 2016, I went to the local Home Depot located on Hillcrest Pkwy in Chesapeake, VA. I applied for a Home Depot credit card. When I was approved, I proceeded to put in an order for approximately $4,000 worth of products. The store associate called to retrieve the new credit card's number. When I used the card's number in the online order, an error continued to occur. The store associate called numerous numbers to assist in the online ordering. She was continually transferred from one person to another. I had my two children, 4 and 5 years old, with me at the time. After literally two hours dealing with people who had no clue how to solve the problem, the order finally went through. The very next day, I received an email stating that the shed that I had purchased, was dropped from the order. This item was approximately $1,800 plus tax. The other items were eventually delivered, including a new dryer. The dryer was purchased to match a washing machine that I had purchased previously from Best Buy. When the installation crew installed the dryer, they scratched the existing washing machine. When the worker gave my girlfriend the paperwork to sign-off on the installation, he stood in front of the damaged washing machine. She did not observe the damage until immediately after the crew had left. I immediately called the crew and notified them of the damage. I then called the company, Mid Inc of VA. The rep on the phone stated that I would have to call Home Depot to report the damage. I called the Home Depot customer service number at 1-800-455-3869. The rep from Home Depot stated that she would call Mid Inc. When she got off of the phone with them, she informed me that since the damage occurred on an existing item in my home, then I would need to contact a 3rd party insurance company. I immediately contacted this company to put in a claim. The rep stated that I should receive a call from Mid Inc within 2-3 days. This conversation took place on Monday. On Thursday afternoon, I called Mid Inc and informed the call taker why I was calling. He promptly hung up on me. I then called Home Depot customer service. When I got through, I provided them with the telephone number associated with my order. I was hung up on again. Dora, the associate who worked originally worked with me in the store, was great. However, I should not have to endure these inefficiencies and obvious disregard for loyal customers. Especially since I have spent thousands of dollars at this particular Home Depot within the past year. I opened a complaint with the Better Bureau in reference to this incident. I just want my washing machine fixed. Home Depot needs to stand behind their products and sub-contractors. I suggest going with Best Buy if you want appliances delivered reliably.. read more

Purchases from Home Depot One of the most disappointing and appalling experiences I have ever had is purchasing an item from Home Depot in Chesapeake, Virginia. It was not with the local store, but Home Depot Headquarters and their Dispute Resolution office. In the past 15 - 20 years I have spent in the thousands, if not ten's of thousands of dollars purchasing items from Home Depot. But today has turned me off of purchasing from Home Depot and would recommend to others not to purchase from Home Depot either. Home Depot decremented funding from two gift cards for a purchase and then hours later, they notified me that because their financial and ordering system is not properly designed, they are cancelling my order because of lack of funds. Home Depot's financial system appears to not be properly designed to do multiple transactions in a timely manner and decrement gift cards appropriately. I used the same gift card because there was a balance on it to do some additional shopping and did not realize that Home Depot's financial system would decrement the gift card again for the full amount of the gift card and therefore no funding was left for the initial purchase via Home Depot's online ordering. I did not realize the issue because I still ended up paying the balance of the purchase with cash. Not till I got home and checked my email a couple hours later did I find out that their was a issue with the online order. When I contacted the site to discuss the issue, instead of allowing the purchase to continue and just have me pay the difference with my credit card, Home Depot's response was that they had to cancel my order and they would put the funded amount that they had decremented from my gift cards back on my gift card. Since the gift card was taken by the store since the funding was totally exhausted at the time of the online purchase and additional purchase. After talking to several different individuals the final outcome was that Home Depot could not take my credit card to cover the balance, if I wanted the purchase to continue I would have to charge the full amount of the order to my credit card, that Home Depot was going to cancel my order and Home Depot's Headquarter's office provided no information about how they would reimburse what funding was placed on the order. This is a totally unsatisfactorily way to treat a valued customer as Home Depot calls me. Would not recommend others to purchase items from Home Depot since their Dispute Resolutions office does not try to assist but only provide lip service. read more
