I was about to give my review but before that I read all the reviews for the Chicago Ridge Home Depot location and a quite a few of the reviews were negative. As I read the dates of the reviews it seemed like it was during the beginning of the pandemic years. I think people who gave those negative reviews should have realized what was going on in the world during those times for retailers. Many lost sales, people out of work, businesses not having enough staff to accommodate customers, etc. People need to really think about the circumstances before they throw out negative reviews. Now my review. On June 23rd around 6:30am I made my purchase at the self-service areas as it was just when the store opened and I didn't see any regular registers open which is not unusual. I don't mind going to the self-service stations but sometimes I'm not sure how to use these as all stores, not just Home Depot, are different. A clerk, named Evelyn saw me checking on how to check-out and stepped up to assist me. She was pleasant and assisted me through the process. I appreciated it. I'll save everyone a bunch of anguish and strongly recommend that if you are trying to remodel your kitchen or bathroom this is definitely not where you want to go. My order for a "custom" vanity was thoroughly screwed up and I'm still trying to resolve issues with it despite the fact that it was ordered on 7/9/20. The home depot rep wrote down the wrong order number for the countertop... luckily I called the countertop place directly and resolved that myself prior to install. She also failed to call the cabinet company after speaking to her on several occasions about reordering a new drawer since the original was sent and it wouldn't even close. I just received that drawer yesterday 11/6/20 and the order was originally placed on 7/9/20. Now I am trying to get my refund on my Home depot credit card for $630.20 because the countertop measure was incorrect and I was told by the countertop factory that it was issued. The credit card company has no such credit on file. What a horrible experience!!!!! read more

The Home Depot has become the new Menard's, when it comes to service! During my last few visits to Home Depot, I have noticed that trying to hunt down an employee to get help on something is next to impossible. Stopped by looking to purchase a new water heater and the service to have it installed. Went to the plumbing aisle to look at what they had available and to get some install pricing. Not an employee in sight, but I did notice a group of about eight employees strolling by, with one on a phone. Not one stopped and asked if I needed help with anything. On the way out of the store, the cashier asked if I found everything okay. With my hands empty, what do you think? I remember when you were able to walk into Home Depot and ask an associate a question and get a reply as if they were a professional in the trades. Some of these men and women were trade professionals. Not anymore. Now you're lucky if you get someone with half a brain cell like the two men I talked to today. I over heard this associate with another customer talking about a bathroom ventilation fan. I didn't hear the entire conversation. When the HP Assoc. was done, I asked him a question and I got the deer in the headlights look. He said he didn't work in that department and directed me to someone in custom kitchen cabinets. I could see the correlation between a bathroom ceiling vent fan and custom kitchen cabinets. IDIOT! Sadly, the guy in custom cabinets knew a little more than the associate on the floor. There always seems to be not enough staff on hand to help, I'm always searching the aisles for workers. Horrific. This place is horrific. I ordered counter tops from here and the service of sitting down with a worker was good. Now with that said.. I waited 6 weeks for laminate counters to be delivered. It went longer than that to where I had to call to find out where we were at. Then they finally contacted me about a date. The counters did not fit and they said someone would contact me and they never did. I left 6 messages a day and finally someone called me back to try and reschedule. No sorry no nothing. They came 2 weeks later and they didnt fit again and one part was broke. I finally told the worker he could not leave until I was contacted. I was finally contacted and they took 300 off the price and we rescheduled for 2 weeks again and this time they just didnt show up to install. No call no nothing, just never came like as if I did not exist. I finally went to home depot where they acted like they didnt know what was going on. A manager said he was going to look into it and I had to come back in there and several calls later they tried to upgrade to shitty counters that I would of never picked out. I finally agreed to a upgraded counter and they said they were going to quickly install these. 2 weeks later they set a date and time to come out and the day off they called again and said they were not able to come out. I emailed management with no response back. I then emailed that I was coming to the store to speak with someone and when I got there everyone was gone for the day. I have gone from the beginning of June to now almost the end of october without counters. This means I been without a sink and that means I could not cook because I could not clean dishes. I can not finish my kitchen because I need counters in to do so. I have been so depressed and very stressed that they do not care and they could of did more for me since I have gone 5 months without a kitchen being no fault of mine. I wish I was over exaggerating . What a nightmare and now I wait to see if monday they show up and install the counters. read more

The lady at the front desk not only talked me out of 0% finance but also told me I couldn't buy at it the store or finance it because it was an online purchase !! But, they had in store on sale for cheaper than it was online ! Buyers Beware - Service should not stop 4 days after you receive the consumer money. 2/27/13 a new Samsung refrigerator and range was delivered. The dishwasher was delivered on 3/2/13. 4 days later the refrigerator RF4287HARS sounded like a truck was running. 3/3/13 I called Home Depot and was asked if I contacted Samsung or the extended warranty company. I replied after 4 days you want me to contact Samsung or the extended warranty. The manager replied someone from Home Depot will contact me on 3/4/13 to ask additional questions. 3/5/13 I was told you had 48 hours to report any defects to Home Depot, contact Samsung or the extended warranty company. If you return the appliances you will be charged a 15% restocking fee. When I purchased the appliances I was never told I had 48 hour to report anything. This information is not posted in the store nor in writing. WOW 15% fee to restock defected products. Having issues with all three appliances. Marcin is definitely the best help every time I would come in to look for paint or miscellaneous items he was always so happy, cheerful, & knowledgeable. It's also nice because he is bilingual I've seen him help other customers as well. I also have had a lot of help from Karen in paint she was very helpful with different types of primers. We special ordered some flooring. They were happy to take our money and happy to ignore us after that. When the estimated delivery date came and went, we called for an update. At first they couldn't find the order. When they did, they said they had no idea when it would come in as it was a special order. It never occurred to them that they might call the manufacturer for an update. Not once did they offer any assistance. They just kept repeating that they were not responsible for the product. Ummmm....well, I paid Home Depot, so yes, you are responsible. Now I have a 1/2 finished construction project that is on hold until the flooring arrives. We purposely planned the flooring installation for seven days after the estimated delivery date to allow for shipping delays. At this point we don't know when -- or if -- we will see our flooring. read more

I am actually a fan of Home Depot, Have two cards with them and buy most of my home materials from them,, BUT, when it comes to ordering appliances and other things from them, their third party delivers.. is now making me shop somewhere else. I had a huge problem when I bought a screen door from Home depot, after the contractor was riding around for two days with my door in their truck and multiple calls he came to install the door and acted like I was an irritant to him, which I had to have someone come and relook at my door later. Now I have bought a stove(granted a week ago) asked for Saturday delivery and then Saturday comes, I have a almost five hour window, 4 hours into waiting and waiting, I called Home Depot that gave me the number to Spirit Logisitics who delivers for them. They said it is still out and they will deliver today. Got a call (So conveniently) around 5:20pm, 10 minutes before the deadline and told me "Sorry the truck broke down, We'll deliver it Tuesday. Well My lightening fast mind is going, okay you only have one truck is there something else that can work, like Monday deliver, cut short, sharp answers, NO Tuesday only sorry, so when I started to disagree, well call Home Depot and cancel the order, sharply speaking to me like Your concerns don't matter so now I had to cancel that order because Home Depot was ready to blame the company or maybe the delivery people told them they didn't have the machine and when she was explaining and I told her they told me they have the stove then it was Oops, now I have to go and find a stove somewhere else before Thanksgiving and hopefully they have a different delivery service that will VALUE ME AS A CUSTOMER. read more

Yesterday Home Depot had a one day sale on Tide. I went online and placed an order at 7:30am. This store, unlike others, said they had almost 200 items in stock (other stores sold out while I was online). I placed an order and was never kicked out of the system due to a live update like two other stores. TWELVE hours later, I receive a message that my order was cancelled. I called both corporate and the store only to be told that the system didn't update in time. Had I been notified immediately and not allowed to make the purchase, I could've explored other options For example, the North Ave. location showed 350 items at the time of my purchase. However, I live far south, so it didn't make sense for me to order from them. However, I know they had them because my neighbor who works North was able to get her items. What a waste of my time! This was false advertising. I understand that this was a hot item and flew off store shelves, but there is no excuse why some stores' systems were updating live and other's weren't. I also think it was ridiculous that it took 12 hours for me to get notification. To be fair, the store manager was nice, but had no answer other than to tell me he wasn't sure why their system was so slow. I guess there was a reason I stopped shopping at HD! This certainly shortens my list of where to purchase my landscaping, kitchen renovation, and garden items! read more

The customer service here is a joke! My husband and I were going to the Sox home opener and anyone that attended knows how flipping cold it was that day! ! Since we were going with a big group of people we were bringing a huge tent bc it not only was cold but it rained and even snowed lol... I looked up outdoor heaters on their website the day before the game and this location had 4 in stock for 100 bucks each. Great!!!! I wait for my husband to get off work and we head over to the store. The heater was on the top shelf and we couldn't reach it. No biggie... that's what customer service is for.. WRONG!!!! I go to the counter and show the lady on my phone the heater we want to buy with the product # (so that when she called someone to get it off the shelf, they would know where it's at). She tells me, "oh I'm sorry, I know it says it's in stock but it really isnt". Huh??? Yeah it is... I can see it on the shelf.. lol... I tell her that my husband is in the Isle waiting for someone bc we found it in the store we just need someone to get it down for us. She tells me... Wait for it. ..... "if you can't reach it, you can't buy it" what??? Then she goes on to say that I'm the 3rd person to come in that day looking to puchase that heater and she's apologizes but they put up all the winter products and rotated the AC products to the floor. At this point, I was just really confused. .. can I really not buy a product bc I can't reach it?? Idk.. maybe it's their policy.. so I walk back over to my husband and I told him what she said. All of a sudden an employee behind us starts laughing. He walks over to us and asks what we want to buy. I pointed to the heater on the shelf and he said he would be right back. Sure enough he comes back with some type of stairs on a wheel thing and grabs the heater down for us. Kudos to you sir and thank you for not letting me freeze on the home opener!!! I'm sure all my family and friends would thank you as well!! HD you need to have a serious talk with your customer service department bc they suck! ! If that employee didn't happen to be in the isle, we would have left with out purchasing anything! Not to mention the 2 other people the lady claimed to come in looking to buy that same heater... that's 300 bucks worth of merchandise! !! The blonde female manager here is a Class A bitch. We called someone over to the bath section and the manager comes by with a snarky attitude, "you're gonna have to WAIT 5 minutes for someone to come over" then she comes back 5 minutes later on her cell phone, talking to whoever with a huge attitude. She tried to give me an attitude as well when I was being nice. There is a black woman with short hair who works in the Pro section who moves slower than a sloth...it took us over an hour to get rung up with only 2 people in front of us who didn't have that many items. Then they decided there was a problem vecause we are redoing my grandma's bathroom (she cannot leave the house) and using her card (with her permission). They declined our purchase, so I wasted 3+ hours of my night there and left without a thing, even though we had been there to purchase things with the same card three times in the same week with no problems. Joe Walsh from the Pro section is an angel though, and there is a very nice black man who works there and wears a Bears hat. Those two were the only helpful ones out on the floor. read more

I've been to this home depot several times to get paint and painting tools. The paint department worker, Marcin, is extremely helpful and goes out of his way to make sure I am getting what I am looking for and is extremely knowledgeable. Not sure if there is a college for paint, but if so I'm sure he graduated with honors. I live by several home depots but I travel the extra distance to get paint and painting supplies from The Chicago Ridge store. read more

I prefer Home Depot over Menards and the Chicago Ridge location has always been more helpful compared to the Oak Lawn one (on Cicero). That being said I ordered my dishwasher to be delivered and installed. I paid in full on 8/30/14. The color made all the difference with pricing and availability so we had to order it online. That's fine. I was told that all of my parts that I needed were in the package that I special ordered and didn't have to order anything else separately. The delivery took a little longer compared to Sears (whom I bought stuff from in the past)but I figured it was longer because of the holiday. I made the delivery for Friday 9/5/14 since I had a doctor's appointment. I get a call before 8 AM telling me that they had a car accident and had to reschedule. They wouldn't reschedule on the weekend without an extra charge. At this time I think that they could suck up the extra fee because now I had to rearrange my Monday. Today they came and the two delivery men refused to set up. They said that I needed a plumber ASAP. My husband asked what part was needed so he could go to ACE (across the street) and repair it himself really quick. Then they said that wasn't necessary and the dishwasher wouldn't fit. I had an old one the same size so it fits. I am sorry boys that it took a little longer than 10 mins to set up but I am not letting you reschedule AGAIN or walk off with the price that I paid for instillation. If I weren't pregnant I wouldn't have paid for installment and help my husband do it. (I am a little better when it comes to plumbing). After my husband had to babysit these delivery/setup men they acted like they bled on a cross for us and went all out of their way for him. Believe me, they didn't and it only took 40 mins after their griping. I can replace some small plumbing myself after the baby is born or have a relative do it. I am not going to be feeling forced to hire a plumber because of them. I paid you to do your job in advance so just do it respectfully and offer suggestions later. I don't think that the salesman that I spoke to misled me in the store but maybe I am wrong. I think that the delivery/install system sucks. Oh and my husband asked if everybody is okay from the car accident on Friday. Their response was, "Sir, we have over 30 trucks. We don't know who got into an accident." They could have delivered on the weekend and waived the extra fee.I will order from Sears again and eat up the higher cost for setup. read more
