Went in today and they were closed an hour early. Seems strange to me - I don't understand it. Usually they close at 8pm on a Sunday but today they closed at 7pm. I've been to this location many times. Usually a good experience. Bought a couple fruit trees from this exact locations 10 years ago and think about this store every time I eat fruit from them. They are already large and I feel like they turn a house into a home. A place you really enjoy much more. I am big into landscaping. I like mature, beautiful landscape. Kitchens and paint I'm less into - I feel like these things no matter what they are within 5 or 10 years they are old, outdated and in need of redoing. The same can't be said about trees - they only get better and more valuable with age. Had a realtor once tell me that a 5 or 10 year old kitchen is just as bad as a 50 year old kitchen. Neither sells - and with trends ever changing - I wouldn't get too hung up with it. I know some friends that put so much effort into what paint on their walls looks like or what brand cabinets they have. Then they want the CHEAPEST car possible to put their wife and kids in. I just don't get it. Was a bummer today. I saw the Christmas tree lot here all closed and some of the trees inside I wanted to take a closer look at. Very poor service. Again standing in the Return line with one cashier with a malfunctioning register. No help. No other cashiers. No less than five employees joking nearby while we stand in line. HD has the lowest performance service of any store I shop. A d requiring employees to ask me how I'm doing doesn't help with poor job accountability, low knowledge, and unavailable staff. Product selection is inconsistent and often limited. Products are frequently not in the correct location on the shelf or out of stock. Items are often damaged or opened with parts missing. HD is run by corporate VPs vying for promotion who don't give a damn about customers. This is what happens when big box destroys local service. Ace and True Value are much better stores. read more

I came here and I found what I wanted. However this is my issue. First, I was looking for lightbulbs. I found the lights and the fixtures, but no bulbs. The bulbs are in an entirely different spot. A spot I never would've looked at except that someone who worked here told me where to look. It never would've occurred to me to look there. All in all, and I found someone eventually he told me where the lightbulbs were. This should not be so hard. read more

We bought a refrigerator and it is terrible. It makes a ton of noise, one door does not seal well, the ice maker and water dispenser are iffy, and after 48 hours Home Depot woukd not take it back. We are unhappy customers. read more

When I bought paint from here a few years ago I had a good experience but unfortunately I recently tried their same day delivery for an item. They never even delivered it, the confirmation photo was of the drivers dashboard, no item and not taken near my home. I was waiting for it when I got the confirmation. When I called customer service to get a refund they said I had to go down to the store for them to process the refund. Home Depot clearly hasn't worked out the kinks on same day delivery and should not have this available yet at least not at this location read more

This location is staffed fully with mental incompetents. I waited for 50 min walking around the store asking all sorts of employees for help or guidance, and they all ignored me or pointed me to a station manned by no one. The employees here are for show. Cavernous and full of what you need. Finding what you need can be interesting but finding help to take you there could even be more challenging. I wonder if the problem is since Covid the amount of business flowing through the doors has dropped considerably so they have less people on the floor well, I think that the people that are on the floor doing an amazing job, and they're very attentive and helpful. I would think an easy to follow directory would be extremely useful. Just thinking out loud, a printed directory that you can carry with you would save a lot of backtracking. I should mention that they carry everything that you could possibly think of for your home needs. It's amazing I can go to one place and get something for every part of my house plumbing lighting, electrical painting it's all there. i'm handicapped and I must say that having that cart for mobility to use while in the store is the reason I go there because they make sure that I'm comfortable and it is such a huge place to move around in . I only saw one cart when I came in and I certainly would hope that they have more than one. That would be a big game changer for me to stay longer and shop. I would give four stars for customer service when I got in there,?four stars for how much product they have there, and the three stars is for how much direct help was available that I could find while I was in there. read more

This Home Depot is a true hole with crass customer service. They close ahead of time (closed at 7:50pm today) and staff literally laughed at us when we complained. UPDATE 5/22: Downgrading this from one to a ZERO-stars review, after Home Depot used a bot to give me the same copy-pasted response they gave to multiple unhappy customers ("Thank you for sharing your experience at The Home Depot, G G. We appreciate your feedback. This helps us improve your experience in our stores."). Just seeing the amount of one-star reviews they've gotten, it looks like "this helps us improve your experience" isn't really working. Pathetic. Hope this location gets shut down soon. read more

I moved here about 2 months ago. Ive been trying to get a piece of 3/4" plywood cut to specs SINCE I ARRIVED HERE. The saw they used to do this has been broken for a while. Today 12/18/25 I figured I'd call before I go..... I have been trying to get in touch with them since 8:00am today. NO ONE EVER ANSWERS THE PHONE. This place is nuts. I was there at a not very busy time, I assume, a weekday late afternoon. There were no shopping carts. Everyone had to go back out to the parking lot to find one. Then it took forever to get someone to come, unlock the cage where the item I needed was. And most of the store is locked in these cages. So only go if you have a lot of patience and a lot of time. This review is purely on the attitude of a select number of team members working the floor, which from my experience can vary from super friendly (greets and smiles) and eager to assist, to the other end of the spectrum where asking a simple question is an intrusion on their time, while possessing an aura "I'd rather be home or just chatting with my colleagues!". Very frustrating to wait for their contractor, which they scheduled between 12:00 noon and 4:00 p.m. -- Why that long gap of waiting? Customers have their schedules, too and what a waste of time waiting for nothing. When we called, this Home Depot branch said, they are on their way -- but 2, 3, 4 hours passed, no one came. This is the very first time I have had a great experience at any Home Depot at any Home Depot location I've been to. Yes, I can completely understand. People's frustrations with employees being scattered everywhere and the apartments that you may need help in there might not be anybody around, but but kindness and support of those employees that I encountered made me appreciate the environment that they have at this location. My major shout out goes to London and the paint department. There were several of us in line that needed support and she did absolutely everything she possibly could to help each every single one of us find everything that we needed, including prices, quality and research whatever she could to ensure that she gave us the utmost help and care and helping us get what we wanted. I walked into that Home Depot expecting to spend over $100 for the items that I needed and by the end of it I was only paying under $30. Saddens me that I most likely will not be going to this location again as I'm moving out of the area, but I do hope that this quality of service the positivity of employees and all the support provided by these workers gets recognized. As far as I'm concerned, this location gets five out of five stars. And I hope that all of you who end up coming here get the same level of service. read more

Decent Home Depot - parking lot is always a bit nutty and the staff are not quite as good as other locations, but sooner or later you just need to use Home Depot. For some reason, this is the only big box chain that doesn't accept Apple Pay or tap payments. Hope that changes soon. read more

This review is not about the store but the Home Depot appliance delivery. We purchased a refrigerator from Home Depot El Cerrito and were given a delivery window today from 1:30-4:30, so I took a day off. At 11:45 we received a message the delivery was 30-40 minutes away (obviously early). We raced home and got there .at 12:15, still 1:15 before the specified window for delivery. A few minutes later we got a message the delivery was attempted but no one was home and we would have to reschedule. As we couldn't have been very far away we immediately called Home Depot, they called the delivery staff but they said they couldn't come back, despite being way ahead of schedule that day. No attempt was made to contact us when they were at the home, we could have told them we were at most a few minutes away. We couldn't believe the lack of customer service. We cancelled the order and bought it for the same price from Lowes. The lesson? Regardless of the delivery window, plan on being available the whole day as the window is meaningless. Also, if there is anything that can be done to provide better customer service the people hired by Home Depot won't do it, it's better to inconvenience the customer than the delivery staff. If you want to buy fuse, just go to online. They didn't have what I needed and plus, I tripped/fell in front of the store because of the bump. I didn't see it and I was really thinking about my plan on how to get my fuse. Then all of a sudden, the bump tripped me and it was like an outside body experience. Good thing I was alert and used my arms to when I fell down. I did get some scrape on my hand. They seriously need to paint those bumps yellow. I talked to the manager in Hercules about it. Well, I went to Hercules because they said that they got my fuse in Hercules. They actually didn't. They gave me the wrong part. So sad. I hope no one else gets injured in front of el Cerrito Home Depot. read more

Whether it's calling ahead to confirm that something is in stock and arriving and being told it's not, standing by the customer service desk and watching eight of their employees all look at you while they keep talking in a circle who are not on break, or asking a simple question, the people who work here are not going to help you. read more

They've changed the Military Discount Requirement, again. They will not accept CA Driver's license will "Veteran" Status. In the Past: At first, they wanted VA Hospital Card or DD214. Well, not disabled or sick, so no VA Card, no discount, today. Brought copy of DD214 on next visit - Clerk, said, "Sorry, this not the original" but it was a Notarized copy. "Get a CalVet verification on driver's license," no discount today. Got it! But it was years later. Paperwork search/gathering and appointment and trip to CalVet Office (15miles RT) CDL Renewal was three years out and DMV wanted upgrade monies. No discount, today. Now: CDL Veteran Status is no longer accepted, said, scan the QR Code and fill-in the questions from some card at checkout. They must be assuming that I own a SmartPhone. No discount, today. Filled the blanks and got a QR Code, but it stated that it was a limited duration code that would not function if screen printed. Yup, on that. Can't find QR option on the App. You will have to logon to the homedepot.com website in order to get the QR Code. Did I mention, that you will get a confirmation code in your email? Well, duh. And, you repeat every visit. How simple is that? Got the discount! But is it worth the extra time? Think! It took three clerks and 20-minutes to purchase 13 items at $23.95 and the line got longer. Do NOT use this store. Why? They don't keep commitments. They failed in to deliver. Several times. I ordered two batteries in a kit. You delivered the free tool and marked the delivery complete!!!!!! (The shipping receipt shows zero items delivered). I stopped at my local store (San Rafael) and they called you. I was told someone is working on it and will contact me to resolve. I stood next to the associate when this conversation happened. Nothing happened. I contacted THD support 5 times over almost 3 weeks. Everytime the interaction ended with a promise that someone from El Cerrito will contact me. No call. No voice mail. No email. I called El Cerrito direct ... was out on hold more than 30 minutes and then disconnected. 2nd time someone picked up after 10 minutes. The person went to go and look for the batteries. After more than 20 minutes the line was abruptly cut. No call back. Well ... I'm done. This is now a case for my credit card company. If you have other options do NOT use this store. Can't find anything I come in for and the store is poorly organized. I usually come in with a piece of product or equipment that I'm looking for a replacement for, in theory it shouldn't take more than 10 min max to find it and purchase it. Customer service sits there playing on their phone, when you ask for help they will tell you to wait or call someone, and the said someone does not show up. Things don't have the pricing on them, I bring it to check out they tell me they can't ring it up. Overall a mess. read more

Porche in appliances is always a joy to work with and will find you right item and tell you everything you need to know. We love our new stove/oven. The garden center has really noice succulents trees and flowers--even organic seeds. I wish the vegetable seedlings were GMO free however they do sell organic seeds and have some organic tomatoes right now too. The paint department guys and gal are efficient. Great deals on tile too. Checkout relies on self checkout for the most part but they help you pretty quickly there too if there's a hiccup. Overall five stars ! Jollene is cool too and full of personality really made me want to redo my cabinets with her when I'm ready. The lady at the garden center cash wrap is very nice too and always accurate. read more
