They sent me an email said it'll be ready in 35 minutes. just to watch my grandchild's game. I went there in an hour and Eddie working at the front told me that they had none in stock even before I showed him the order. I told him we'll just cancel it. He stated that they don't usually do that and he called his manager on the speakerphone and his manager stated tell her we'll ship it. I told him I don't want it shipped. I have a game this afternoon. That's why I ordered the same day. The manager sent an African-American gentleman up who explained to me that Eddie was new. I told him what does that have to do with anything? Just cancel the order I've made an hour ago. He said that there are procedures that need to go through, but it will be canceled. THE NEXT DAY I RECEIVE AN EMAIL THAT IT'LL ARRIVE ON TUESDAY AFTER I TOLD THEM TO CANCEL. IT WENT IN THE STORY. The next day I called on Sunday at 12:32 MELISSA, WHO THEY TOLD ME WAS A REGIONAL MANAGER. I asked to speak with her. They put me on hold for 12 minutes and 56 seconds. And every time I call back both times they put me back on hold for five minutes. I'm painting my house right now and am trying to find alternatives to Home Depot (a Trump supporter and terribly run store) and Lowes (far away but also never ever has the stuff the website says they do). I've been going here to this Ace lately and they have some good stuff but man-oh-man, check the website. The website isn't even close to being correct. I write down the aisle the website says the item is on and it's not even in the ballpark. Check yourself. This is ridiculous. Also their checkout area has a door where if you walk in that door, the cashiers flip out - despite the fact there's no way to know that's an exit - there's no signs or anything. Ace is the new OSH. They changed the new ownership several years ago. I have been going to this place for years. They have good prices on the generic plants. Simply cheaper than Home Depot due to the size is smaller. Take the advise from a 20 years old homeowner. Some should only cost you $10, some worth $100, some might cost a bit more pricey, say it is $1000. In the past, I would build a 30 foot fence to protect my border. Building this kind of fence would cost $3000 labor only ( price was in 2020 ) plus material. This time, I bought 5 plants of Red Tip Photinia which cost $10 each. I bought 5 of them and planted about 4 feet apart along my side yard. They cost me around $60 to build privacy garden hedge. Red Tip will grows up to 3 feet tall in 1 year. Planting the Red Tip instead of building wooden fence would safe money and creating an environmental friendly barrier. Excellent place, and I really like the way they hire older, retired guys who know about fix-it projects to work there. I walk into the store and go to the customer service desk and ask for someone who knows about whatever I'm doing, like screen doors, etc. If they give me someone who doesn't know, I ask if there are any older employees who are experienced and might know. I went here on a mission, after going to two Target stores that advertised a mop onlline that they didn't have in stock. Thanks Target! But this was close by so I went in and boy am I glad that I did. I bought my beloved sponge mop and found a couple of lighters. The employees greeted me when I went in and were most helpful. I really appreciated itt, and look forward to going back. One thing that I loved is that a couple of the employees were having a conversation when I went in and they both turned and looked towards me and asked if I needed help. This sounds like we don't give a shit if you come here you're not priority. I had to wait 20 minute in a row for the same kind of stuff and I went there. I live 5 minutes from Home Depot. The majority of the time you cannot locate someone to help you. Few employees have knowledge of products. Now the one on San Pablo is trying to have customers do self serve....ALL self serve. I schlep out to the ACE off Appian and the first thing that hits you, there's a person to greet you upon entering. Then, you can actually ask where an item is and if they don't know, they find out! Whoa, it's as if I was transported back in time. Then to top it off you can ask any number of folks about how to repair something. They possess knowledge! What a concept. Long story short we ordered a Big Green Egg and were originally told our model wouldn't be delivered for two weeks. Wasn't this an Orchard Supply Hardware store? All I can say is that this is the first Ace Hardware that has a public restroom. I can now not worried about holding it. I am impress with Ace Hardware. They did not remodel the inside which is good because they took the advantage of what OSH did on the remodel. This location has a nursery section. This location has a lot you can find at OSH but better (auto section and greeting cards). I doubt Lowe's or Home Depot sells greeting cards. I was greeted when I enter the store and I was greeted when I left. Don't think other hardware stores would greet people coming in and out. Pinole has struck gold on having Ace Hardware. He also kindly informed us that once we finished shopping, we could leave the carts at our car, and he would take them back into the store, which he did. This is not a review of Ace Hardware Pinole. This is a review of one of their employees. My wife and I have two dogs and the big one hates skateboards. A gentleman named George rode by on a skateboard and my my dog tried to eat it. George was kind enough to help us train the dog with the skateboard. He was fine moving it back and forward in front of my dog, then let me ride the board. I will go to Ace Hardware Pinole just for this reason. Customer service even OUTSIDE of the store! Yes, that is correct, a hardware store that sells excellent frozen fruit pies - they're made in Ripon by "The Pie Company." She was rude to me, rude to to the staff and generally screwed up an incredibly simple prepaid Internet order and blamed it on an associate.
