I love this Home Depot! I recently purchased both a refrigerator and a stove from this Emeryville location and I had an amazing experience both times. I didn't have to wait long to be assisted, in either case, which was the first gold star from me! Alex Chavez-Montes (Appliance Specialist) helped me with my GE refrigerator purchase last week and TJ Jones (Kitchen & Bath Design Consultant) helped me with my Frigidaire Stainless Steel Range purchase today. Both Alex and TJ provided exemplary customer service to me and both were very knowledgeable about appliances. Alex provided great advice and really cared about my satisfaction with the product. TJ was an absolute delight to work with and she went above and beyond to ensure that I was well taken care of. It was just a pleasure doing business with both of them and I wouldn't hesitate to work with either of them again. Plus, 3 years ago, I also purchased my GE washer and dryer from this Home Depot. I have been extremely pleased with every appliance purchase I have made at this location. They sell quality appliances and they are reasonably priced for great value. Wow. First of all their machine mismixed my Behr paint (instead of being sage green it was key lime green) but I didn't know this and the contractors painted the room. HD then refused to exchange it, despite all their signs of "color guaranteed!" in the department. Had to bring in a manager and it was a big ordeal to make an exchange. Then I rented a spot/carpet cleaner yesterday, and once we got it home after dinner found it didn't work. The 2 hour window for return had passed (we were never informed about that) but my husband drove ALL the way back and it was also a huge ordeal to cancel the contract, get a partial refund, and order a new one. Which we had to pay more for, and there were no concessions for THEIR "inspection card/device is functional" error. Found out that I had "declined" the protection plan, and if declined, the associate is supposed to test the device right there for us - she didn't (the careless girl, most of them are) didn't tell me about it, nor test the device. She was checked out. So we had to waste 1.5 hours of a tired evening because of even more incompetence, and Home Depot corporate blocks on what the employees are capable of taking care of vs. customer care. read more

I love to say thank you JO-EL helped me a lot!!! I was looking for 4ft" washing machine's hot & cold water hoses with an elbow. However, it's just shown 6"ft on the rack. And JO-EL said it's pretty long for home used. Then he kept looking on the top rack and searched on his phone it's still had 11 inventory in stock. Finally, he spent 20 mins to found the hoses to me with I'm really appreciated for his helped. I known he can just say "Out of stock or Sold out". But he didn't! Thank you so much JO-EL!!! read more

They took their time to research the issue, listened carefully to what I needed, and worked with me to find the best possible solution. I never felt rushed, and they were patient, professional, and genuinely kind throughout the entire interaction. This home Depot definitely lives up to its Yelp average score. If you're coming in to pick up some hardware supplies, some potting soil, maybe a light bulb, or some miscellaneous nuts and bolts, you'll probably leave satisfied . But do not ever ever come to home Depot with hopes of getting a bathroom retyled or something similar. The customer service representatives that work with you to set up the tile order, pick the tile, arrange the installation are unfortunately incompetent and untrained. After almost 6 months attempting to get a simple bathroom floor installed, the project ended with a delivery driver pulling up in front of my condo complex a week after the project was canceled carrying a half of a ton of tile. When I told her over the phone the project was canceled, she literally told me to go f*** myself. I had to cancel the project because the estimator home Depot sent to do the measurements and produce the price quote changed the price quote after I paid for the entire job, but before the job had been done. After dealing with at least five completely incompetent and unempowered employees at the store, I was finally referred to the regional manager. I would say the regional manager was more dishonest than incompetent. He made promises, then changed the promises midstream. As I mentioned at the beginning, after around 6 months of planning, ordering parts, collaborating, the project was canceled because home Depot failed to honor the price quote they're very own estimator provided. read more

Yesterday and Today was a 5 Star day at HD. Last night a lovely worker named MARS Helped sort us out with our project. They went above and beyond to help us, and their efforts were So Much appreciated. Mars gets 5 Stars. Sucks there's no one star reviews. Here's the deal: if it seems like all the employees are long time friends that are just here to hang out with their girlfriends and chat, you're at the right place. Ask for help? Don't you dare interrupt their social hour. Leave your cart for second to grab a large item and you will have at least one of these catty ladies try to lecture you on cart safety and store manners. Security guard was the final straw. It was Pouring rain so the one employee with customer service skills let me back my truck up to the giant slider door so my plywood didn't get wrecked in the rain. Not on securities watch. The garden center has a wonderfully knowledgeable woman who is so kind and customer service-oriented. She actually asks people if they need help! It's always a treat for me when I go and she's there because I enjoy listening to her give customers great advice. When I go to the Concord Garden Center the staff doesn't know anything and I'm reminded of how fantastic this woman is and how lucky Emeryville is to have her. She clearly loves what she does. And you won't find her sitting around. She's always finding something to do keeping things neat, watering, making sure the plants are tended to, looking for a wayward customer. She is never still. Is there a zero star option? Today, I tried to return a few items I had bought at another store (in perfectly new condition), and was told I need to return to the original store in COLMA (75 minutes away) because they no longer carry that color. I told them the Home Depot online policy clearly states, "RETURN IN STORE Bring it Back to Any of Our Stores Take your return back to any The Home Depot store for free, even if you purchased online." The key there is "ANY". They escalated and would not honor the corporate policy. This HD in particular is a joke. I think they believe that customers are a nuisance. Update: I talked to Home Depot Corporate customer service and they said the store was wrong, I should be able to return my purchase to ANY Home Depot store. The wonderful African American woman in checkout said to me, "I can tell you been the garden these past few weeks," which made me laugh so hard because it's true. She read another customer and got him correctly, too. We all laughed. Every time I am here, she adds positivity into the air. The gentleman in the parking lot swiftly asked if I needed help to load my car. This isn't the only time he asked, he's always offering me and others help. Oh my god just NO! 2 stars because I think the nursery here is better than other locations in the Bay. In general I don't shop here because they donated money to entities I don't like. But then convenience and price won out over moral conviction and I went in to rent a flatbed truck. This was a nightmare. They said do it online...well no you can't if it's within 24 hours of when you want the truck. Okay I'll do it in person, rent the truck now for 24 hours and then leave it there and pick it up in the morning when I need it. Good solid plan except it's gonna cost me more, but that's okay. So they make you take a selfie on your cell phone (yup-no cell phone no rental) prove you have auto insurance, and then register with some 3rd party company who verifies you after you already gave them your CDL and credit card. Do I want insurance? Well yes I do. I have insurance but I don't want to deal with whatever they say I might have done (they take pics of the truck while it's sitting in their parking lot) So now I'm gonna pay the deposit. All good. Oh WAIT! I have to agree that if I 'misplace' the truck they can take 45K out of my bank account???!!!! HUH? Oh yeah. I'm like but what about the insurance? Well no that is only to cover $500 worth of scratches...not if it gets stolen or needs to be replaced for some reason. There is no insurance add on for that. Oh yeah and I also need to agree that if I don't return it I have to pay $903 or some weird rando amount. I'm like you mean if I'm late? They are like no...you just don't return it. So I can have a Ford 150 flatbed for $903? That makes no sense AT ALL! In the end I wasted time driving over and a half hour there and decided Oh My God Just NO! Yeah it's unlikely it's going to be stolen but if it were...$45K?! And then I have to try to get the money back from my insurance company? I will go to U-Haul in the morning. Now I need a nap. I'm mad at myself for ditching my convictions for convenience but in the end they got no money from me because that was beyond inconvenient. And now I have to figure out how to get whatever information the shady verification company has from me wiped if that's even possible. I came here today, looking for sandbag fillers. I had to look online to find better quality options. I had the hardest time finding an employee on the sales floor. Most were at customer service, or helping at the self check out. When I did ask for help at some point, employees were extremely dismissive and did not seem interested in helping me. When I finally had someone help me, he didn't seem like he was happy to work there. Majority of the employees looked and acted that way. When I went to check out, and I'd only found one item of its kind, the self checkout clerk was very rude and pushy for me to complete my transaction. I've never felt so disrespected. Also the item I bought was way overpriced. I recommend going on Amazon for anything that you need in terms of canopy weights. $45 for 20lbs worth of canopy weights hardly seems worth it. I have 90 days to return my item, and I'm not excited to go back. Amazon was half the price too! read more

The reviews I've seen for this Home Depot are not only misleading, there are in fact people to scan your items Sydney, but seem to be written by people who are deeply unhappy with themselves and feel the need to make it everyone else's problem. Personally, I've never had an issue getting amazing service when I POLITELY ask for help finding various tools and supplies (in this instance to construct a cat tree :3). The employees here go above and beyond, so much so that the very nice man helping me get my rope got not one, but two different types of scissors and spent easily ten minutes attempting to cut it when the rope burner was not functioning properly. They deserves 100000 stars, if only for the kindness of this one man. Aside from the lovely employees, the store itself is constructed beautifully. It's a massive building so the selection they offer is great (not highly overpriced either), the floors have a very nice, solid feel to them, and the layout is not overly complicated or confusing. I love this store, have been going here for years, and will continue to do so with positivity and gratitude in my heart. Also, I got some freaky red LED lights. I went here with my husband, mostly to walk around, but I was looking for a dehumidifier. The online website said that they had one and eventually, someone led me to the section. They didn't have any. But other than that, this store isn't really much different than other Home Depot locations. You wander around a bit until you come across what you are looking for. Which he did. This place does have better lighting than the El Cerrito store, which is a bonus. But the only time I come by here is when we are in the area, which is rare. When I asked her if they carry a water based sealer for a hardwood deck, she told me they have it and it's called "Wet Look." Well, i looked that up and it's a sealer for stones and pavers, NOT wood! When I relayed that, and suggested she may want to get more familiar with the products, she hung up on me. My call was at 4 PM on Jan 22, and when I asked earlier if I can possibly speak to someone who is more famliar with wood sealing/staining products, she said there is no one else. "There's only me." I doubt it.. if she was the only one, Home Depot's paint dept would be in dire trouble. It's mostly Home Depot management's problem... you should do a better job in training your staff instead of having them provide arbitrary responses to customers and get frustrated. read more

I'm currently working on an outdoor bathtub project for my backyard, and Home Depot has made it incredibly easy. I've sourced my sanding materials, paint, respirator, hoses, connectors, and misc plumbing materials here. It's wonderful to be able to purchase everything in one place and it was cheaper than anything online. I also like the massive parking lot which is a rarity in the bay area, so I can always quickly park and get in.  The staff here have been incredibly helpful with my requests. They cut down the PVC tubing on the spot to my desired measurements for free and even helped me source the correct size connectors. I asked very unique and challenging questions regarding hot water heater modifications which they were able to give expert guidance on which ultimately made my project safer. Shout out, Ron! Up until today, this was my local HD. i rather drive 3 hours to another home depot than to walk across the street from my office to this location. This is what you call town bizness at its finest. I was reading the reviews of another guy and he took the words out of my mouth, I laughed so hard. Its SO true, this happened to me within this past hour. So frustrating, cancellation due to out of stock item. HD calls me 2x and informs me item is out, i told them just replace with anything they have available. 2 hours laters upon pick up, items cancelled. Attitude given to my staff picking up the items. Yet you think giving us a discount on the item to cover your shitty attitude works? NO . These employees are entitled think we work for them, we are the CUSTOMER. we are the REASON these stores are in business. But they upsold on us since we originally planned to get a sample paint for a home DIY project and they told us it wouldn't be enough. Do, "yay, team, Emeryville". When I went into the store, there was a sign that said "mowers", so I started searching that long aisle. I got down to the end of the aisle and saw 2 associates talking and asked if someone could help me find a mower. They called on their phone for help. I continued searching for the lawn mower of my dreams, and there it was in a dusty box--the numbers on the box matched the one I wanted. I person helped me load it unto a large cart. I pushed the cart out to my car, but the box was too bulky and heavy for me to get it in my SUV by myself. 10 minutes later my partner came out of the store and we loaded it into the car together. No one from the store asked if I needed any help getting it in my car. read more
