I really don't know why I keep trying this store. Maybe it's because it's local maybe it's because I believe it can be better but the store on Shady grove is especially atrocious. I'm at the point now where I won't even look around for anything, I'll order it and have the staff pull it. It's rather shocking and disappointing that I needed help finding the right size outlets, some epoxy, screw, etc. When I couldn't find some things I placed an order while in the store. 20 minutes later my order was completed. I couldn't get help that fast. At this point I would suggest not even having associates on the floor, just have people go around fulfilling orders while wearing a sign that says "don't ask me, just order it" read more

Disappointing Online Order - Gaithersburg Home Depot On September 17, 2025, I ordered a toilet plunger online for $5.18 with free delivery. However, instead of the full plunger, I only received the handle! When I called the delivery support number, they told me to visit the Gaithersburg store. At the store, I found the plunger I needed, but the cashier couldn't give me a price because there was no barcode--even though the website clearly listed the price as $5.18. After wasting time, I was forced to buy a more expensive plunger. Honestly, it's shocking that such a large store has no proper oversight for shipped items. And it makes me wonder: when Home Depot's own toilets get clogged, do they also try to fix them with just a wooden stick--since that's exactly what they sent me instead of a real plunger? This experience caused wasted time, loss of trust, and a very negative experience. I will avoid ordering online from Home Depot in the future. read more

Went Christmas shopping here today. Bought three large boxes and carried them to my car. The one on top was a mushroom growing kit. I started to smell dead fish and then my arm started getting wet. Through my jacket! The mushroom kit had been filled with water and rotted to hell and I was completely covered. I stink worse than a sewer. I tried just removing my jacket but my white shirt underneath is completely ruined as well. I asked customer service for a new shirt and they looked at me with a blank stare and said nothing. They did say I could rinse my shirt in the bathroom, but it's a white shirt with spf built in and cannot be treated with stain remover. I have a full day ahead of me and now I'll have to go to Nordstrom rack and spend more $$$ because of Home Depot. The icing on the cake was that the customer service guy couldn't figure out how to return it so I got sick of standing there about to throw up from the rotten fish stench so I agreed to take a different one just so I could get out of that hell hole. I mainly go to this store for plants. Today, I decided to stop in at 9:48pm to do a quick check of the indoor plants. Both sets of doors (entrance & exit) were locked, despite advertising that they were open until 10:00pm. On a recent trip, the indoor plant selection was infested with spider mites. Maybe it's a sign from the universe thot to shop here. read more

Home Depot is generally not great, but wow, this store is legendarily bad. They've sold me visibly-used items as new more than once. My favorite was a shop vac that was sold as new. When I got it home and opened it up, the vacuum and its accessories were clearly used. There was dog hair and dirt all inside of it. They just took a return, didn't even check its conditions or to see if parts were missing, taped it up and put it back out for sale at full price. I had also bought a new circular saw to find it covered in sawdust and the blade clearly worn when opened. They also apparently don't care to try to maintain inventory or keep shelves stocked. Things they have "in stock" will remain up in top stock for days while the lower shelves are empty, and they can't be bothered to bring things down when asked. If you order an item that is only up in top stock for in-store pickup, they'll cancel your order as "out of stock" rather than actually bring the item down, even though it's clearly visible up top in the correct aisle. Lowe's is by no means perfect, but they run a better operation than Home Depot. If you absolutely need something from a Home Depot, save yourself the frustration and skip Gaithersburg. Germantown is a better bet. read more

The trees are on the slim side this year-- like everything else in 2020. However, the customer service was top notch. A young man named Mike greeted us as we entered " happy holiday." Then Curtis helped us to pick out the tree of our choice, trimmed it, and loaded it on top of the car. Great tree shopping experience. read more

This Home Depot has the most inconvenient parking lot and some customers who are contractors like to make their own parking rules. Double parking , blocking the entrances and nothing is enforced. However this HD has the coolest employees Very friendly, especially in the paint and garden centers. Whatever your home project invision is, they will help make it happen. I'm no Picasso but in the paint department, they helped me in the right direction. Although they don't that many cashiers they encourage self check outs. I'm not a fan of them because you have to wait on a sales rep if you have problems. Garden center is blah. I don't recommend, go to a real garden center. read more

10/1/22 After The Monument Medical Clinic, I needed to pay a bill. Since I am in Maryland and there is a HomeDepot close by, I decided to check out my stomping ground. This Homedepot is where I worked for a while when vendors were a thing at Homedepot. I thought I saw a familiar face, but the woman isn't Katia...not sure if I spelled her name right. Harry Potter, Snoopy, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and The Grinch are all set up for Christmas in October. Most of the Halloween stuff seems to be taken down except for Great Punkin. Seems Halliween at this store was a Summer time thing. The bathrooms look to be updated with new equipment and toiletries as well. The bathrooms...well, men's bathroom doesn't smell like WTF either. The store's employees have asked again and again if I need assistance at various times. A good way to keep people from shoplifting. I needed to pay a bill here and it was a quick and easy process. This Homedepot has an upper level should you need to park your car. From what I saw, the elevators to the upper floor appear to be working unlike The Falls Church Merrifield Store. If you value your sanity, I would caution you Not to order anything on special order from Home Depot. I ordered blinds for my den in August. They were the same type and manufacturer that were on my sliding glass door. So, why reorder, I wanted a new color. I was told that I would have to have Home Depot's installers come out and measure. I paid my $50 and had to wait a week for them to come to my house to measure. I was called and told that my measurements were in and I returned to pay for the blinds. All of a sudden there was a $300 increase on the price quoted me. The manager, Brenda told me that it was tough and I had to pay the increase. I went to management and they honored the original price. Then, things got worse. After 3 weeks of waiting, I was told they lost my blinds and had to reorder them. I was also told that they were coming from Mexico and it would take time. I said okay, but I had ordered them early for a special family occasion. Thank you Amanda for getting the blinds redone in time for our celebration. But, then the installation department couldn't install them until today. So, I didn't have my blinds for the big family celebration Today, after waiting 2 months the blinds arrived and they were made incorrectly. I would not have been able to open my sliding glass door, if they were installed. I have spent over 27 hours trying to reach people on the phone to help with this order. No one answers the phone. It was a huge,frustrating, and terrible experience. I spent almost 3 months waiting for blinds that never arrived and I am out $50 for measuring for blinds that never arrived. The employees here are very nice and helpful--but the parking lot is crazy land--due to a limited amount of parking. (There is a parking structure where you can park on the lower level or the upper level.) The store is well-stocked, and it is conveniently located on Shady Grove Road right off of 270. My husband went in search of specific drill bits, cleaning supplies and toilet parts--and he found all of those right away!! He was literally in the store about 10 minutes on a busy Saturday and found all of those items. It's just the parking that is an issue. read more

While visiting my daughter and son-in-laws new home nearby I had some chores to help with. I have been to Lowes and Home Depot all over. I know they are all payed out different so you typically have to ask staff where something is. The employees at the register turned out to be the best to ask. The ones walking around wishing you Happy Holliday do not have a clue where items are. I asked one where a Dawn to dusk light would be. He stoped another who took out his phone and looked up on the app and still could jot find it. I found it myself as I did with the other items on my list. 5 items we could jot find so will buy at another store or Amazon. read more

Almost every single time I come to Home Depot, it's an exercise in frustration. When you have a store that's the size of a convention center, and a billion products, you think that there would be more readily available and well trained help. I asked for help 2 times in this store... and each of two different employees sent me to a wrong section that did not have the products I was looking for. I've also noticed that really rarely does the Home Depot consultant actually walk you to the product. I know... it's a huge store, and getting your steps in is annoying, but it's also such a cavernous maze where the layout doesn't even really make sense to me. Why can't they give you a map of the store when you walk in? I could think of 100 ways to improve the shopping experience that would probably result in Home Depot doubling it's profits... I just can't imagine what they're thinking at a corporate level. Nothing has changed in the years I've been dropping in. I spent about an hour here looking for products aimlessly, and just don't want to come back. The one thing I will say is that I ordered some products in advance online, and it was easy to pick up them up in store. I think that if I need to head back to this store, that's probably the best way to do it. Search for it online, add it to your cart, and just have it ready for pick up when you get there. Annoyingly, I had a few other things I forgot to prepay for that I wanted, and spent a good deal of time being mislead and lost by store associates. read more

Do not get your appliances at Home Depot. They send out appliances that have been packed damaged and do not want to exchange them or help you out. I received a dishwasher that had no damage to the outside box or the packaging and the door and inside were bent and they insisted I had to go through GE the manufacturer. GE service inspected it and found it had been damaged inside and the whole unit needs to be replaced. I'll never shop at Home Depot again. You pay good money and they don't want to do the right thing. read more

Don't buy any major appliances from here. Better off paying more and going to Best Buy. They don't allow you to return unless damaged within 48 hours. Even when you call they say they need to schedule an appointment 5 days later to assess the damage then add another pickup appointment another day and can't schedule that until the damage appointment is complete. Offered to send video or anything to help expedite. The people on the phone talk over you. Don't want to help. Sounds like a scam more than a proper business. Btw this is not the store's issue, it's Home Depot service directly. read more

We ordered windows from Home Depot. They were installed in October- one window was measured incorrectly and could not be installed- but they said they would make it right. About 6 weeks later the replacement window arrives and it too is the wrong size - this was early December 2023. It is now February 2024 and our inquiries regarding our window go unanswered. We've called, emailed, gone in person to no avail. This is not the first time we've run into the total lack of customer service exhibited by this Home Depot in Gaithersburg. Wow! I am so impressed and grateful for the help I received from sales associates Edwin, Luis, and Mahmoud. Edwin not only took the time to answer the questions my husband and I had for him regarding bathroom sink/tub repairs, but also spent the time to ensure we actually understood his responses in order to move forward with the repairs. We are not handy individuals, but Edwin's guidance gave us the confidence to attempt the repairs ourselves and that means a great deal to me. Feza at the cash register was bright, patient, kind... I was helped and checked out on two separate visits by several wonderful associates named Ana, Jose, Evelyn, Mike(manager) and Vishal. These folks were AWESOME! The associates were warm and friendly and did everything they could to ensure I got what I needed. Mike came in to assist with an issue at checkout and to help try to locate an item that showed in-stock. He was a total PRO and offered intelligent conversation while we scoured the store for a tool kit I wanted. Overall, the store was clean and well organized. It seems like this Home Depot is a step above the neighboring ones, so I'd suggest a visit if you are in need of home improvement. I would also seek out one of these very kind people to assist you during your visit. I'm close to Aspen Hill and Bethesda, but this store seems to be worth the additional travel time. read more

I was in the hardware aisle trying to find a particular size wood screw,when I was approached by a staffer.she said I had to leave the aisle because they were using a forklift to move things the next aisle over. She said I could wait 10 minutes to half an hour.She saw I was using a cane to walk with and said she would get the hardware dept person to help me. A male staffer came and said I had to leave that aisle immediately in a gruff tone of voice. I said if you don't want me here I'll go to your competition and I left. Although I had a temper because of technical issues with my payment, she was patient and trying her best to help me out for over an hour, calling to tech support and main customer service line. One comment for management thou, please consider having online price match in store, I picked up my items in shopping cart in store, went to cashier, and since they don't do price match, I was asked to but it online, and wait for the confirmation and then take out the items that are already in my shopping cart. I love Home Depot!! I mean how can you not?? First, let me say, the top level parking is amazing! It's literally always empty because I guess people don't want to take the stairs so they rather fight for parking downstairs. Nooo thank you. I have never not found parking upstairs. Love that! Second, sure the store can see intimating. Other yelpers have mentioned it is hard to find what you are looking for and I some what agree. There are huge signs directing you to the right aisle. I have never had a problem tracking down an employee to guide me in the right direction when I was lost. Lastly, I just love that you can find practically anything in the store. Cleaning supplies, toiletries, custom keys, flowers, you name it and then probably have it! I seriously love coming here. I always come across more DIY projects for myself! read more

Helped pick up a curbside order here, and unbeknownst to me, was headed for parking lot chaos. Structurally, this Home Depot is already confusing: the main entrance is in the covered lot below, where parking is more limited than the open air space above. Now, imagine setting up a make-shift curbside pick-up system (that is backlogged) in that same space. Instead of a pull-up and pick-up like the site suggested, it was more like a "park and wait your turn" system. Upon arrival, you had to call the store number, but the phone just kept on ringing. Shout out to the one staff member working to get the cars parked and organized, however. He was really trying his best, but they were simply overwhelmed by cars and order. New normal, you say? I eventually just told 'em I didn't mind heading inside to the customer service desk for pick-up. That took 2 minutes tops. If you're comfortable heading inside, and appropriately masked up, then this could be the quicker option. I did see a staff member by the door tracking the number of people headed in, for capacity's sake. These four stars are for the product (was what I needed), fulfillment time (same day), the time to pick-up at the customer service desk (very quick), and all their efforts to uphold safety. read more

I had a very positive experience at this location with flooring specialist Zelia, who was very proactive and helpful in ringing up our order. Her colleague at the flooring area, whose name I cannot recall, was also very pleasant and helpful and genuine. They were both fast, efficient, diligent, energetic, and caring. They wished us a happy holiday, invited us to return, and made consistent eye contact and smiled! If only all Home Depot associates could be THIS friendly, this would be the #1 and not #33 fortune 500 company! read more

1.) I went to home Depot in Gaithersburg to exchange a product with a life time warranty. As I have mobility issues, I looked for a handicapped space for which I qualify. All were taken, but 4 of the 6 spaces were taken by non-handicapped people! 2.) I needed a mobile cart to get around the store, and there were no carts accessible that were charged up. I had to find a push cart for support while I limped around the store. 3.) My first stop was the service desk. I told the girl I had gone on line to check their stock of the produce. None were in stock at any store in the area. When I called ahead of time, I was told to bring it back to the store and they would have one delivered to me. The girl look at me funny, so I told her to let the manager deal with it. The manager didn't believe anything I said, check there store stock, said they couldn't order one online for me, etc. I told him, give me a refund and I'd order it myself. He whispered something to the girl. (How rude!) Next thing I know, the refund was put on a gift card, and from there, my product was ordered online by the girl, and was having it delivered to me. (Eye roll) 4.) After this, I limped to the back of the store to the dept. that carried the other product I needed. 8 were in stock according to the web sight. Waited to flag down someone to help me to find out there were none! 5.) This was the worse experience I have ever had at this store. Management should be ashamed ! read more

I have had the WORST experience purchasing a washer/dryer from this location. They make you keep your entire day 9-5 open for the delivery and only give you the window the day prior. This makes finding a delivery day difficult for anyone who does not work from home. The first time they came to deliver my appliance the team told me I had ordered the "wrong hoses". I needed 8ft instead of 4ft. I have no idea why this wouldn't have been told to me at the time of purchase. Instead of having any extras on hand, they insisted I must find the hoses myself and reschedule the delivery. I did that. The 2nd time they showed up the employee told me my cold water valve was broken and he could not switch it off. Once again, they would not install my appliance. I hired a plumber and spent $200 for them to tell me my valves were just fine. The valve just needed some WD40. At this point I tried to schedule another delivery. I waited all day and nothing showed up. After speaking to someone at the warehouse, I was told that my appliance had to be returned to the manufacturer since it had been at the warehouse for over 30 days. LOL. Absolute ridiculousness. There was zero communication from Home Depot about this. They let me schedule the delivery for an appliance that had already been returned to the manufacturer. I proceeded to go through the process of returning and repurchasing the appliance. Today, I was supposed to get it installed for the 4th time. The team examined my valves and once again is telling me there is an issue with them even though the plumber just checked everything. They refuse to let me turn off the main water line and continue the install even though that would have been a perfectly reasonable solution. I am EXTREMELY disappointed in this company and their lack of communication, poor expertise, and inefficiency. NEVER use Home Depot read more

Never fails...next to Walmart in general, Home Depot to include this location has the worst customer service. Their ability to assist customers and meet simple requirements DOES NOT EXIST. A non-home depot employee (vendor) assisted by calling for someone to help four times. No one came over. I walked around and asked other associates and they all pointed me to the same department where no one was there. In general, people will greet you but lack service outside of their areas. read more

I have given this Home Depot many tries, and their store service, as well as their curbside pickup, is the WORST that I have encountered!! On average, the wait for curbside pickup is 40 minutes. If you have more than one order to pick up, give yourself a hour wait time. This is after you receive the text that your order is ready! In addition, it seems as if the associates are hiding, so that they will not have to assist you. If you're doing anything that requires lifting, finding an associate is like pulling teeth! A month ago we ordered a complete suite of appliances made by GE (range, fridge and ovenhood microwave) . We paid $5k and change up front and were told delivery by Easter Monday. Firm. Telling them that the contractors would be coming for a three-day job that Tuesday. On the day before Easter Sunday they inform us that they are moving our delivery date out to Wednesday after Easter. A day later they try and move our delivery date out to MAY 11th!~!~! Because the microwave they sold us AS A SUITE with the other appliances was on backorder!! What exactly were we going to do with no fridge microwave or range until MAY 11TH you ask?? They had no clue. I called Assistant Manager of the store "Brad" who stammered and babbled and then tried to either downsell me to a GE microwave in stock (cheaper) or another model/make in stock(more expensive). We settled on them delivering the range and fridge EARLY on Thursday and them delivering the microwave when it was available 5/7-5/11 and THEM doing FREE install and haul away. While this is minimally satisfactory for us, it screws with our time, our contractors time and our money-which they had for a MONTH before they decided to be incompetent boobs. DO not buy appliances from these people unless you go inti it expecting to be lied to and your delivery date/ contract to be ignored. read more

I am always reluctant to leave any bad reviews especially during this time, however I was extremely disappointed in the service we received from Jackie at the Customer Care (ironic) counter. We were directed to go to that section in hopes to have a warranty question answered. I'm not sure if she was having a bad day or what the exact reason was but to go up to her counter and ask a simple question felt as if we were inconveniencing her like no other. My father has hearing problems and wears a hearing aid and has to speak louder especially when wearing a mask. Jackie was still extremely rude and even sarcastically at one point (after I told her about my fathers hearing problem) said "oh I guess I'll have to talk louder". What kind of person treats someone with a hearing disability like that? read more
