This will be controversial for Home Depot. A bit late getting this one out - work issues & travel. Date: 11 Oct. 25. Time: mid AM. Situation: HD delivers bathroom appliance my wife has wanted. Truck ID - 218833 Lic.- CT BJ24390 I have photos of the vehicle, and the crew hiding their faces. I could still make out that contemptuous Cheshire Cat grin on his face as they sped away. Truck crew: two men- one, a big guy about 6 ft, dark hair, rounded shoulders & with those unmistakable convict eyes ( I possess military & PD backgrounds)- the shorter man spoke modicum of English. Dark hair, about 5'4", leather type jacket. Carried the clipboard. When I looked at the big fella I simply said: 'morning'. He tried but couldn't say it. Yet another IA exhibiting uncomfortable hostility and he wasn't even at my front door yet. I know convict eyes when I see them. Now the Prime Rib part of this: Just as the new appliance is set in my home, a neighbor rolls up to my driveway in his P/U to confront the HD crew. Turns out they, the HD, crew, were driving recklessly on a dirt country residential road, and almost killed the little girl at the bottom of the hill where the roadway goes straight uphill from there. The girl's father, anxious of confrontation, will not pursue the matter any further. I believe his version of events upon weighing what I know. Next thing you know, here comes the ' no speeky anglish' part of what appeared to be a routine response. These HD crew scooted out of there while I wrote some details out. Solution: I now have the ICE hotline on my phone. What I believe ICE/CBP can do, interalia, is get to that HD warehouse in Connecticut. Bring lots of zip ties. As for HD customer service, getting someone on that circuit that speaks our language, understandably, might be like pullin' teeth from a velociraptor-that's still breathing! Another good ICE target. As to the final check- value- I don't appreciate very much with the impatience an illegal alien, working a customer service line, has such a big problem with someone saying 'could you please slow down & repeat that'? They get upset because neither I nor my Bride can understand half of what they are saying. I may still be required by circumstance to shop HD again, but I'm leaning more towards Lowe's, 40 miles away. I spent my professional life in the service to my country; and I refuse to be condescended to by someone who does not belong here, legally, in the first instance. read more

Throughout my visit, I encountered multiple dogs barking, jumping on other people and even on the lower shelves in aisles. This of course raises some concerns about hygiene and safety, as some dogs were not on leashes while other little ones were in carts (clearly pets not service dogs). Despite Home Depot's supposed policy that only service animals are allowed in the store, this rule is apparently not being enforced. Staff members seemed hesitant to address the situation, and when I brought it up to a manager, I was met with a dismissive (and somewhat rude) response. I'd rather drive the extra half hour to go to a farther location Home Depot or a completely different hardware store. Please fix this. read more

I have shopped here frequently over the past two years. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Except for the dogs.This place is wild with dogs and it is getting worse. I was in one day and there were dogs barking all over the place. The same day a dog off leash nearly knocked me over running around . It was finally caught but it owner couldn't control it. My next trip there were little dogs in shopping carts, one actually was Peeing in the cart. another trip people were letting thier dog run free and find each other. A few weeks later I was helped by an employee who had a dog with her. Her dog was clearly a Service dog. She had to leave a desk she was at because other people with dogs on extending leashes were barking and growling. There is a small sign on the door saying no pets but no one on staff seems to care. You would hope at least managers would be making sure that people either didn't bring in dogs, or would make sure that store policies were being followed. Don't people get fired for refusing to follow store policies? Why do I need to worry about getting run over by some persons dog or stepping in poop (i have seen dogs poop in this store more than once) or putting items in a cart that dogs have peed in? Ok...so I love HD and could roam around forever. Till recently I had nothing but good experiences asking employees for help in finding things. About a month ago I went in to purchase a light for the inside of my fridge.GE wants 2K to fix the electrical wiring. No thanks.I wanted a battery operated stick on light. I'm pretty savvy at knowing what I need.I just always don't know where in the store it is. 2 young guys were standing still talking to one another.I explained what I needed.They looked at each other,one put the other on the spot.He started laughing & said "I have no clue". I kind of thought he was joking but think I knew better.I said"You really do have no clue,do you?" He said no. I found what I wanted & as I was checking out,I told him where I found what I wanted in case any one else asks him in the future. That was a first. I went to Home depot in greenfield Mass,Had taken trailer from Orange Mass,Wanted to get 16 sheets of sheet rock,And insulation,about 400 to 600 dollars worth,went to the front desk,Asking for help,Was told,To get a cart and go and get the items with out any assistance.Walked over to the cashiers area,where i found 6-8 younger men,just standing around,laughing and joking,asked one to help,And as to my dismay, He walked to the sheet rock with me,And stood there for a moment,Then just walked away,When he realized it was going to take some work,seeing i needed 16 sheets,i was very dissapointed,And continued to walk out there door,Feeling my money nor time was good enough,So i called the cooperate office,seeing i am not able to pick these items up,on my own,Nor should i be physically,seems like my complaint,Of this store,was written off as if i was not worth the time,seeing i usually spend a few good thousand dollars there a year, This has made me so upset, That I guess I need to take my business some where who appreciates me being a loyal customer. read more

This afternoon I went to Home Depot to return a faucet that I had bought at this store. The one that was purchased broke after 3 months, and I was hoping that the store would swap it out for a new one. When I walked over to the service area the employee greeted me, and told me that I could return the item due to it's defect. The only issue that I had while in the store was trying to find the item itself, or find someone to help me find the item. The shelf that housed the faucets was well stocked, but was disorganized. It took me a while to find the identical item. When the hunt was all said and done, I checked out and went on my way. Usually when I come to this particular Home Depot I come with someone who knows the store well, because again it is almost impossible to find someone who can help you in a timely manner. read more

As a manager of a rental apartment, I got a call from a tenant that their electric Range had quit working. I initially wanted to do business with a local company, so I called Manny's. They were no help (see review). So, my next stop was Home Depot in Greenfield, MA. As I looked for the range that was suitable for a rental apartment, I observed a sign that said "Free Delivery of appliances costing $396 or more". Jackpot!, I thought. With my bad back, I wasn't looking forward to delivering a range. This will be a great help! So, I flag down a sales associate, and ask him to deliver the $400 range I have selected. He tells me that there is a $90 charge for delivery. I then point out the sign, which is clearly posted. He then states, "I don't know what that sign is all about. We use a delivery company out of Connecticut, and we charge $90." I then decide to talk to the customer service desk. They reiterate the same thing, but decide that the store is wrong on this. So, they offer to deliver it. I ask if they will set the electric range, and remove the old one. The customer service gal says "Yes. That's part of the delivery service". The sales associate speaks up and says, "No, they can't! They aren't electricians, so they cannot do that!" Meanwhile, I'm like......do what? Plug in a damn stove??? Finally, I decided to just watch this jerk load the range into my truck. I was able to hire a couple of guys to assist with delivering it, for $50. The only reason they got 3 stars, was that they actually had the range in stock. read more

I brought it to the customer service explaining that the hose didn't fit into the window bracket.The answer I received was I don't know and I don't think we carry those here. I was leaving and Pete an associate at the door asked if I was helped. No, actually and I explained my issue. He told me to take it to Pat in appliance. I did and Pats expertise coupled with his desire to figure out the problem solved my issue!!!! He took time with me and was extremely helpful. Thank you Pete and Pat! I have heard numerous times that appliances sold at HD are brand names, but an inferior product because they are produced specifically for HD to be sold cheaper than at appliance stores. We purchased a $600 Whirlpool stove here in July. Due to the fact that we live very remotely in this area (as do many people in Western MA) we could not get the propane company lined up for weeks. Finally, the stove was delivered September 1st. The propane company converted the gas stove to propane and connected the propane on July 6th. Eight days later, I used the oven for the very first time and the oven door fell off. Whirlpool sent a repair man who was unable to get the oven door back on. Parts must be ordered and will not arrive for at least 10 days. I have requested a full refund and am buying a stove from an appliance dealer (not a Maytag or Whirlpool, you can bet). Home Depot was responsive, but no one seemed able to make decisions within the management team and call back time was a problem. Due to the location of my house and the propane company schedule and the Home Depot schedule and that I am having company next week I have learned that I can not risk using Home Depot or buying Whirlpool/Maytag products. Now I face having to schedule the propane company come to disconnect the propane on the broken stove (MA regulations) and the find another time to connect my new stove. What a pain in the neck! When talking with a representative from the propane company, she said she too will never buy Maytag products again. A friend told me his daughter went through 2 over-the-stove microwaves in 4 years, both of which came from HD. She bought her 3rd and last one from an appliance cealer and has had no problem. Home Depot is adequate for some purchases, but not major ones - or complicated ones. read more

I only go to this Home Depot because it's convenient. I will say that almost every single greeter here is AWESOME, POLITE, and MORE KNOWLEDGABLE than a good chunk of the staff on the floors. I could be in an isle trying to figure out what I need or scanning the entire place and no one ever asks me if I need help. I always have to search for someone or chase after an employee not caring or chatting with other employees. It almost always comes down to a greeter seeing me looking puzzled and they are so happy to help me that they leave their post at the door and walk me to the isle and even make suggestions. I don't even get that attention from the people on the floor who have told me 'I'm not sure... I don't know anything about light bulbs.' And then walk away and don't send anyone to me. It's a shame. I hope the greeters get raises! read more

I went to this store to purchase flooring materials yesterday. I'm the type of person who doesn't want help from the store employees when I'm shopping and will seek it if I truly need it. While looking at underlayment, I figured out that the 10 rolls I needed would cost $650. For 12, it'd cost $588 due to a bulk discount. However, there were only 11 rolls on the shelves. I found an employee easily enough and was told that was all they had in stock - but they worked it out so I could get the discount by back ordering the 12th roll. The employee was kind enough - but clearly wasn't listening to me when I said "I don't need the roll." He was going out of his way to help but was not listening. I purchased the supplies at the flooring desk (the flooring person, Mindy, was great to deal with). I needed to buy some other things. I brought my purchased flooring materials to the regular checkout along with my un purchased supplies and explained the flooring was paid for, the additional supplies were not and provided a receipt. I had to explain three times that I had already bought the flooring and that's what the receipt I handed the cashier was for. Five cashiers worked on this "problem" for about 10-15 minutes before they figured out that I had bought the flooring. I was told that I had to goto the service desk to "sign out" the flooring. I was also almost sold $50 worth of merchandise for $16. So I began pushing the cart to the other side of the store when another employee asked why we didn't get the 12th roll and was in utter disbelief that it wasn't in stock. I say again, I only needed 10 rolls. I wanted the discount. Keep the 12th roll for all I care. At the service desk, the line was backed up. The employee at that desk quickly called for additional help and Mindy (the person who sold the flooring) came to help. I explained to her that at this point I had purchased everything that I wanted to walk out of the store with - her question was why was I still here? I'm guessing it was a store manager or supervisor of some sort, but he was standing there as well. Overhearing my conversation with Mindy, he was responsive and apologized saying he'd deal with it. I give 5 stars to: Mindy - for everything The manager/supervisor guy - for being willing to fix a problem The kid who helped load the flooring into the truck - quick, respectful and hardworking The bulk discount The military discount I give 1 star to: The inability to listen A serious lack of communication I'll return to the store in the future, but probably not for large purchases. read more

I purchased 5 major appliances from Home Depot this summer. What a horrible experience. Several appliances arrived damaged and I had to wait 2-3 weeks for a replacement, take another 1/2 day off from work each time. Then, when the replacement was delivered, the fees I paid for installation and removal were not listed on the order. The delivery men told me they did not work for Home Depot and could not help me, they could not even give me a phone number to call to resolve this. My only choice was to once again refuse the appliance, resulting in my calling Home Depot and requesting credit, which I have not yet received. For each of the 3 appliances that needed to be returned, I was told I'd receive credit for the return in 7-10 days. After waiting 3-4 weeks for a washer/dryer credit, I had to go to the store and talk to someone, who promised to call me in 2 days but never did, so I had to call again before I finally received credit several days later. Another item I purchased online was not credited after 3 weeks, so I called -today- and after 1/2 hour on the phone my credit is still not resolved and I am "supposed" to get an email later today. It appears that Home Depot does not issue credits for returned damaged appliances unless the customer makes a concerted effort to track down their credit. I wonder how many people never receive their credit at all. Home Depot has deplorable customer service and business practices. read more

Unfortunate that I had to give even one star. I cannot express the level of frustration this place has given when me dealing with the incompetence of the management team. I'm not exactly sure what position Maureen holds but i do know that she is unqualified and well overpaid. You'd think the person above her would have realized that her astounding level of incompetence is very noticeable and makes her a giant red flag while trying to correspond with Home Depot management. I have had the unfortunate opportunity to interact with this "human" and I can say it was not a pleasure. The blank stare behind those lifeless eyes not only made me feel uneasy but gave me the impression she wouldn't begin to know how to help me other than passing me along to another employee. Today was "tax" free weekend, I needed a few things so I stopped in. Spent 658.17 at 7:21 am. (bought a washer, a vacuum and rented the flat bed truck to return to my house) Drove 8 miles round trip and "topped" off the tank. It took 4.095 gallons. Knowing full well if I didn't fill it they would have charged me $6.50 per gallon this seems cost prohibitive. Returned the flat bed truck at 8:25. Spent another $8.97 on a Wrench and was dismayed that I was treated poorly by a sales associate. As a single person and a woman, I was referred by a sales associate as "dear" and "sweetheart". After I specifically asked the man to not use those terms when speaking with me, he continued. He also made reference to "my husband or boyfriend". It is disgusting to be subjected to sexual harassment at a hardware store in Greenfield in the year 2015 . Dismayed that I couldn't have really REALLY been treated with such condescension, I left the store. Realizing that while not a professional contractor, I am in fact, not a doormat. The home depot opinion online customer service program will not allow the phrase "sexual Harassment" into its comments section claiming "sexual" is an offensive term. It is offensive to be subject to treatment because of my gender. I've returned the two of the four purchases to the store at 10:15 am. No chance to get the washing machine back on that flat bed by myself. Nor can I syphon off the 3 extra gallons of gas on the rental. I will be boycotting any future purchases at this (and possibly EVERY) Home Depot. read more

I walked in and shopped for lumber. I found what I needed - 2x3's - for about a half a buck *more* than in Keene, NH - and I needed quite a few of them. I turned to leave, and a dude in an orange apron stopped me and said "Can I help you?" I said (maybe a little too honestly) "Nah, it's ok. You have what I need, but it's cheaper in the NH store." He said "That is NOT possible ma'am. ALL of our prices are the SAME, store to store." I took out my iPhone and showed him the photo taken not 24 hours earlier of the price tag on the same product in Keene. I pointed out that not only were the Greenfield prices higher, but I'd have to pay tax as well, making it well worth the drive for the quantity of lumber I needed. He was flustered, flummoxed, and got defensive. He intimated that I was very wrong. So I left. For last minute, need-it-now purchases when we're in the area, fine. But for big projects, we'll drive the extra ten minutes, save money on the base price AND taxes, and get service that feels less desperate to keep any customer. read more

I came to switch out a defective product for the same product for a friend. The staff told me the wrong direction look for it twice in the same spot insisting it was there only for me to look around the whole store with no one to help me find it. I finally found it myself on the other side of the store. I dread coming here, the only helpful people are the greeters. One employee was too busy chatting away with someone to even notice I was looking back and forth down aisles to finf an item. Then, it took another fifteen minutes to switch out the product. What a stressful experience and waste of time...I dread coming here. Also yes check your receipts I've been doubled charged for items in the past as well. read more

When I started to research building a backdrop with wood, screws, stain and glue I didnt know where to start. But I had my list. Thank goodness for best Manager I have ever seen. I used to frequent this store on a daily basis. We were (and still sort of are) in the midst of a home renovation. They almost always have what I need. The store in Hadley does have a bigger selection. I've ordered some things online and had them delivered to the store when somethings not in stock. I've found the staff members extremely helpful and most seem to know their home reno stuff. Once I hit an associate in the head with a piece of wood trim and he still smiles at me. Another time I bought something online that I swear weighed 300 pounds. They smiled and were able to load it into my car no problem. I didn't even lift a finger. They've never given me a hard time returning something, even if the package is open. They seem to take anything back. I like their garden center too, although often times some plants seem to look a little healthier if I buy from Greenfield Farmers supply or Shelburne Farm and Garden. I tried to shop local when I moved here but ended up making so many extra and unsuccessful trips that I just head to the depot now. It's so close that I just can't stay away! read more

ma. tax free weekend i order a washing machine because mine was completly down and a propane stove also a refrigerator all where available on different dates the washer was the earliest aug. 27th and the stove was sept 8th and the fridge was sept 29 they said that they would be delivered on the sept 22nd i told them i did'nt have washer i needed that as promised the other stuff anytime the date was aug 27th. that was available you can see they bundle the delivery for the 29th and that was a month with no washer and in town the washer building was closed covid 19 they did'nt care they blamed on back order but you know they bundle on one delivery instead of giveing the option to pick up washer myself i called them twice never returned my call except when i changed refrigerator size i did'nt need that right away i needed the washer. so i bought one at many's in greenfield ma. on the 19th delivery the 24th of sept. five days not one month. bill p. read more

Waited one week for delivery of refrigerator. Received call day before that delivery would be between 9 am and 1 pm next day. On Saturday 1 pm came and no call, no fridge. Called Home Depot sales. She said they were running late, in town 15 minutes away. Said she couldn't contact delivery until 4 pm because no one would answer. Called Home Depot at 4 pm because no call, no fridge. Told they were running very late and no worries because they deliver until 9 pm. She said she would have delivery service call us with estimated arrival time. 7 pm came with no call, no fridge. Called Home Depot...again. She said, sorry but delivery people were headed back to Connecticut. No reason given why our fridge was not delivered. Home Depot should have been on top of this seeing there was an issue happening with nondelivery. They should have insisted on getting an estimated delivery time from the delivery service, not relying on the delivery service to call us with that information. Extremely frustrating having missed out on family plans for staying home for a delivery that never happened. We should not have had to keep calling Home Depot to find out where our fridge was. They should have been on top of this. We cancelled order and drove to Lowes. Found out Lowes has bigger inventory and has appliances in stock. Able to get same fridge, same day and installed. Never buying an appliance from Home Depot of Greenfield again. Horrible service. read more
