It's my Home Depot. I know where everything is, so lack of employees just doesn't effect me or my shopping. The paint people are always there and the guy that hovers around the tools, the garden people are there too. Men still give me dirty looks like I shouldn't be in there, but I just bulldooze my way in. I'm hip enough to utilize the app while in store to help me find items. For what i need on a regular basis this location is easy. If I want a broader selection of construction items (doors, etc), I'll pop over to the Central City location. You can find me in Paint or Garden once a week for certain. read more

There was a time when I would bring my Mom here every Saturday bc she needed something here. Usually it had something to do with her garden so we would be hauling pebbles, bricks, manure, plants, you name it' hehe Fortunately whenever things are heavy we've always found someone to help us load my SUV so we wouldn't kill ourselves! Hehe and the employees here are very helpful! For some reason I feel like Home Depot is a little cheaper than Lowe's? Although I think Lowe's stores seem a little more polished and cleaner? But hey, wherever my Mom wants to go is where we go' hehe I also like to get orchids for my Mom here as part of a present bc they have a beautiful selection. We went to the store to get wood to make some shelves. We found adequate wood although they had some bark on the outside of it which was fine. We asked them to make cuts. The man in charge didn't even come off of his machine to look and see what needed to be cut and told us he could not cut that because it was not real would. It was absolutely very clearly six by twelve planks of wood. The lack of customer service and caring about anything is probably why they have a two star rating. This Home Depot is conveniently located on the West Bank Expressway in Gretna. The store stays well stocked considering the amount of people who shop here. Every time I have been to this location, it is crowded. They have a good selection of appliances (I bought my new fridge here after Katrina). The easiest way to enter this store is from Stumpf. The entrance from the expressway isn't as convenient. If exiting the lot on to the expressway, use caution. Because of the proximity to the Stumpf exit, there is high speed traffic entering the road near the exit of Home Depot. read more

This is my least favorite of the HDs in my sphere of travel. The whole place is sketchy. The parking lot is kind of awful. The store is often out of stock and but at least it's cleaner than the parking lot... The staff is helpful and so points for that. Last time I went, I walked out empty handed since they were sold out of the one thing I really needed. HD HQ needs to rehab this store soon. read more

My wife had to go pick up bricks for a project while I was working at the house on the landscaping. Mr Erwin helped her load the bricks in her vehicle after the others did now show up for 40 minutes. Mr Erwin was a life saver! We appreciate him a bunch! read more

I have been to many Home Depots throughout the Southeast, and I typically have good experiences. However, this location is the absolute worst!! Although I shop at Home Depot with my HD card, next time I'm in this area, I'll go to Lowe's before giving this place my business again. I have had some bad experiences at this location before, but the last one led me to write this review. I went with my son to buy him a water heater, and they advertised that we could use their contractor to install it for $175 base price. With it being a gas water heater, we felt that was a reasonable price; of course, we understood that once the contractor arrived, it could result in a higher cost should there be add'l problems such as bad pipes, valves, etc. The contractor was contacted directly by Home Depot and then called my son to schedule a time to install the water heater. Without even going to the home to see what the job would entail, the contractor stated that the base cost would be $600. That was ridiculous....can you imagine what "problems" they would've "found"? As you might imagine, my son cancelled the installation job with this contractor. My son made a call to HD, and they immediately asked if he had the $175 quote in writing. He advised that it was posted in the store. They began to make it seem like he made the mistake, and they said that there was no other contractor that they used. It is inexcusable for this HD to have such a deceiving practice. read more

The one and only employee here who can cut wood keeps disappearing and absolutely doesn't want to help. Every time I find him, he's just standing around and tells me he has to do one last thing before he can help. He's not doing anything but hiding. You guys need to fire that POS. read more

I live in Marrero but I shop at the Gretna Home Depot location because the service is always great!!! My husband and I visited the Marrero location today to purchase a patio set however, we could not find help. We requested help twice at customer service but no one showed up. So, we drove to Gretna and while walking into the store we were immediately greeted by a sales associate who asked if we needed help. Within, 10 minutes we had purchased the patio furniture and scheduled to have it put together at the Marrero store for easy pick up. I will always drive the extra miles to purchase from the Gretna location because I'm NEVER disappointed with their customer service. read more

I went there tonight, i was in the lights section looking at flood lights and i had a question, we'll i couldn't find one person that actually worked there. I walked down 5 long ials and Couldn't find anyone. It felt like a ghost town. So after 25min i found what i was looking for and took a chance. I then went to self check-out (which i love) & checked myself out. As i was checking my self out two black females were just standing there arguing loud over who's sleeping (f***ing) who's man. I hate this place. Not because of anything they have done wrong. As Aesop said- Familiarity breeds contempt. We have been to this Home Depot almost every day for the last 2 months while gutting and remaking rooms in our house. I have gotten help, tips and tricks on Carpentry (rebuilding a room from the studs and joists), plumbing (redoing the pipes in my bathroom), electrical (everything from fixing a bad circuit breaker box, tracking down shorts, all the way to wiring and installing fixtures and receptacles). Even to what kind of drywall I should use, paint, flooring etc. Through it all, someone or the other there has been willing to lend some advice and help make what could have been a $5k + job to cost more like $1000. But MAN am I sick of going there all the time. read more

Paint Department: We came in July 7th, 2019 to take advantage of the 4th of July sale. One lady names Dale started our paint order, then went to lunch and didn't tell us. We were transferred to another lady who I heard complaining about or Order. "Who came in for this much paint? Don't they know it's hot outside?" Poor,slow, and rude customer service. I'm sorry you hate your job, but I'm trying to take advantage of your sale as advertised. Here take my money.... Dale, finally showed back up from lunch. Dale was much friendlier than the other assistant. Both of them had to ask us our order several times. Other attendant yelled across the counter from the register to us several times. We were there over 1 hour. We all know it's hot, it's July 2019 and now we all know you hate your job. Home Depot, do better. Please. read more

I have no complaints against Home Depot directly, however, a fence company, Category 5 Fence Co., a division of Local Fence Co., who claims to install in the New Orleans area for several Home Depot stores, should be watched closely if you hire them to install a fence. Over two months ago they began a fence install and the work was poorly done. The concrete to set the posts was not mixed correctly, the materials including the amount of concrete that came to my jobsite was less than half of the minimum that they specified and much of that ran out of the waterfilled holes as they tried to tell me that this was the correct way to set posts. See my photos and you decide for yourself. I photographed and recorded most aspects of this job because I couldn't believe how unconcerned they were about the problems that I was having with their crew. I kept getting excuses and lies. They were also rude they were to me and my neighbors. In fact the old torn down fence was not cut down in length to conform to curbside pick up for the City of New Orleans. I contacted Windy, in the office and told her of the problems and SHE assured us that someone would be out to take care of the problems the next day. THAT DAY NEVER CAME! We received a citation from the City. It has now been over 2 months since this job should have been completed and it remains unfinished. We filed a complaint with the BBB which seemed to do no good as their 'dues paying member', Category 5 Fence Co., aka division of 'Local Fence Co.', still retained as the complaint was closed, their A+ BBB rating. So much for the BBB being perceived as a consumer protection venue, in my opinion. On that note, don't just look for the BBB rating, dig down into the BBB site a bit and find the 'reviews'. As BBB states the reviews have nothing to do with their given rating, WHAAAAAAT? This is now in the hands of the Office of the Attorney General. Please see photos of post hole setting and debris on my neighbors yard. Home Depot may have several installers but the sales pitch that I received was that they are responsible for a few stores in our area. My recommendation, if Home Depot's Category 5 Fence Company, a division of Local Fence Co. crew comes to install your fence, is to count every bag of concrete and every fence board to make sure that you are getting what you paid for. Customer service not only kept us on the phone for 15 minutes, but they proceeded to blame the customer for their "verification" error multiple times. I had an order that was supposed to be delivered on 6/14/19. When i called to check to see if it was enroute i was told that is was going to be delivered the next day because all my material was not in. No one from the store called me to notify me. I found this out when i called them. I asked to speak with the manager because i paid for delivery on the 14th and i paid for it. I could have sworn Home Depot is a hardware store and supposedly gives advice on how to fix things...Here's a clue HD, fix your freakin' hardware...it doesn't look good when you give advice about how to fix things when you can't fix/get fixed your own hardware...again comedy! read more

Typically I don't take the time to write a review, however this experience was exceptional......Looking for a odd but specific lighting bulb. Exhausted all looking and resolved to leave.....suddenly this employee ("CURTIS" ask if he could be of assistance and in doing so noticed that I had a broken bulb in my hand. I informed him that I could not find this replacement bulb and he immediately took time to guide me to the section in the rear of the store and found the correct replacement. Gretna Home Depot is a waste of time, lines are always long with one register open. Waited in line for 10 minutes, cashier tells customer in fromt of me they cant take HD cards. So after he leaves she calls to see if that still correct to find out they can take them now. So she chases him down to come back, so i have to now remove all my stuff that i done placed on the counter and tell tell the rest of the line to back up again so he can checkout. Call before you darn lasy before you tell anyone no. Few weeks ago went into to purchase a rideing mower, only to be told they were to busy to pull it down and come back in a couple hours. Went to the Marrero store where people are willing to work and help customers, that will be our go to store for now on even tho it is further away read more
