I've been remodeling homes in Austin 35 years spent millions of dollars between roofing company and remodeling company purchased a countertop for my home but got the wrong color I drove 45 minutes to exchange for the same 10 foot countertop different color I was wearing a shirt supporting my country and president I am a veteran and pro rewards member. The staff was not happy with my attire Denied my exchange When I asked for a manager, I was forced to wait about 20 minutes while the cashier who barely spoke English, (no kidding) snickered, and made jokes with customers about me Finally a guy with prison tattoos up to his ears claiming to be a manager (An assistant) denied my exchange and there was "nothing I could do about it." This is my go to store and never have had any issues. I've needed a huge fan to rent, buy paintings for my walls, bought spray to change my daughter's car color, faucets, etc. Every time I would find what I needed and the staff were more than amicable with us. read more

Really poor customer service. Needed an 8x4 piece of plywood cut in 18 in x 4 ft sections. After cutting the first four sections, the employee stopped and said he couldn't cut the last one because the leftover was 6", and their minimum was 8" (even though the piece was 24" wide). I bought a Ryobi mower, trimmer and trimmer combo from here 3 years ago. My trimmer started to fail. I thought that I just needed to buy a new one. My neighbor bought the same exact thing as me a couple of months ahead of me. Recently (a month ago), I told my neighbor how my trimmer started to fail and he said that he exchanged it at this Home Depot for another brand with manager approval. I just called for help on this sharing that same story and they did not want to help me. I guess this store treats different people differently. Very irritating. Then they insisted we drive back out to pay the additional floor prep fee - in 2025 we could not pay over the phone, online or through the mail. The last three times I've been in the Hutto store, their customer service has been poor - unhelpful and disinterested, as I was passed from person to person to find what I wanted and get my questions answered. Went to the nursery to buy a few odds and ends. I met with a tall slender Afro American woman with braids who was very helpful. I went to the area where the mulch is located because we needed 20 bags of mulch and 2 bags of soil. This is when we were approached by Paul. Paul was a pleasure to talk with and was super supportive. Now what soured our visit was the attitude of Tammy the cashier. My wife greeted her and she ignored her . The only thing she was concerned about was how we wanted our receipt. As we were leaving I could hear her exchange with the people that were behind us. She greeted them including their baby. Her delivery was full of laughter and bubbly as apposed to her exchange with us. We left there feeling as if our business didn't count towards HOME DEPOT' S bottom line. We personally felt like her attitude was shitty because we are an interracial couple. I hope that she doesn't treat others like us the same way. It's a real shame that HOME DEPOT has an employee employed there with such weak customer service skills. H-D is my go to store. The blue store is operated by Walmart flunkies. However, Never in my life have I had such F@#!%$ service. I try to rent a power washer in Plugerville store. All their power washers are down for service. So I call corporate. "Where is the next closest rental?" They set up a rental for 8:00am, but tell me I can pick it up at the day before. I want to get an early start with current temperatures at 105. I arrive to pick it up, "Oh they close at 8:00" Why does Corporate CS not know? The ass Mgr just says "sorry" and refuses to help. (The clerk said "If its out, just load it up") HOW does Corporate not know all power washers in one location are down? How does Corporate not know store hours? Three stars for this chain store! Definitely a chain store experience here and they have some good deals on items. I have stopped in to check out stuff needed for my projects. The only downside compared to the other store is that nobody greets you. I walked around the store for thirty minutes and nobody spoke to us. Definitely not a one time thing this is pretty much every time I come here. On my last visit, an employee basically came down the aisle and expected us to move out of his way instead of waiting for us to pass by. In this day and age of "screw the Customer AND where is my 33% tip?!?" Carl asked for nothing in return, and went above and beyond what you would usually expect from the big orange box. Simply amazing. This reminds me of going to the town hardware store 60 years ago, where you could not only get help finding stuff in the store, but they would help you figure out what exactly you need to do your project, and even give you some advice on HOW to do it! We're not quite back to that level of service, but Carl got the boys to get off their phones, and load up some stuff so my partner could just show up, pay, and roll it out! Thank you Carl! read more

I am so disappointed in myself for actually shopping at this place. I had been warned but decided pick up a few things at this location. I asked a couple of middle aged workers for directions to find a door knob. They treated me as if I interrupted a major life event and proceeded to tell me that it was not their store and ended our exchange with a condescending comment. I generally do small home improvement jobs myself and leverage Home Depot for most of the necessary supplies. My most recent experience was renting a mini-trencher from Home Depot. I called ahead and was told I could not reserve this piece of equipment for pickup the next morning, that kind of surprised me but I was told they are first come- first serve. I can reserve other piece of equipment, why not this one? Anyway, I called ahead the next morning to make sure one was still there and it was. I went over to pick it up, filled out the forms, put down the deposit, etc. I was told to bring my truck around to get it hooked up to the trailer. The hitch on my truck was a little too low so the HD employee went retrieved a floor jack to get it attached. He could have said- "you need another hitch, we can rent you one" but he didn't and I appreciated that. He never asked if I had used on before, only to bring it back with the same amount of fuel. Luckily for me, there was an instruction manual in front of the seat and I was able to "learn" how to use it. The equipment work fine for what I was doing and I was able to load and unload off the trailer just fine. I did get done earlier than expected and the only charged me the minimum rate. I have had a few HD employees that were more gruff and rude, but for the most part, the employees at the Hutto location are pretty good. They are understaffed, as most places are, but they took care of me and I got my job done. read more

Picked up a few small items this memorial day weekend and decided to use my 10% off veterans discount, I(use it all the time on large purchases in fact just a few days ago I bought $4000 worth of shingles handed them my VA card and they gave me 10% off) I went to Katheryns register and when I showed her my VA card she told me that it wasn't proper veterans identification and that she needed an active duty card and I explain to her that that was not store policy she then begin to scrutinize if I had actually served at all When I began to get upset she said she just didn't need the hassle and should go ahead and "give it to me "like I was trying to sneak a couple of dollars off on my $20 purchase by stealing valor I would advise any veteran who needs home-improvement products to go to Lowe's because they will give you a 10% off and not harass you and accuse you of being a liar on memorial day weekend. read more

We purchased a refrigerator from Home Depot in Hutto, Tx, for our daughter and paid for delivery. When the delivery driver arrived, my daughter was informed they only deliver, they do not unpack or install. We were never informed when we paid for delivery that is was merely a drop off fee. Shame on Home Depot for not making this clear. If we had know this was a drop off only situation, we would have made arrangements to be there when it was delivered. Even though this was a small refrigerator, there was no way she could unpack and install it by herself, it weighed over 100 lbs. The "manager" at the returns counter has zero people skills. We spent an hour trying to return an item. The young women working there were great- very apologetic that their computers wouldn't work. Then they got the manager who was supposed to issue a store credit, but kept retrying the same steps with no success to get a refund. After an hour we said enough. Our family is now going on month 3 of an apparently endless saga of trying to get appliances delivered and installed (in decent condition). We stopped by Lowe's and Home Depot right after Black Friday and both offered similar products and Lowe's had best prices with Black Friday discounts but our dishwasher had died and we desperately needed a functioning dishwasher before hosting Christmas so we went with purchasing matching dishwasher, wall oven and microwave (these also had expired) from HD because the appliance specialist looked up the delivery times and they were two weeks out opposed to a month from Lowe's. The specialist didn't seem very familiar with the products because had to google in their system looking for features much as I would have at home. They explained that the dishwasher would be delivered and installed on the same day and that is all we were told. When the contractor delivered the dishwasher they informed us that we would need a plumber to install and that would have to be scheduled. They told us that HD should have known that would be needed and they said they had to leave the appliances with us. They left it in our garage in all of the shipping wrapping and containers. We did not know that we needed to inspect or that HD only had a policy of two days to return damaged items. Several weeks later a plumber installed the appliance and removed the protective film etc. I came home and immediately noticed a large dent in the right bottom and sizable nicks in the control panel. We immediately called HD and were informed that since they had the 2 day return policy we would have to contact the warranty folks ourselves and sort through all of that bureaucracy. I asked to speak to a manager who repeated this policy. Chapter 2 - wall appliances We were told to order the appliances and then before the installation that someone would come out to measure the existing space that the new appliances would occupy. When measurements were taken they were smaller than the units we purchased. We went in person to HD and asked the specialist for advice on what to do. They helped us search the system for a unit that would fit but there were none (our existing unit was a Whirlpool product). They also identified that the measurements entered in their system by the contractor were different from those he sketched out and provided to us. We showed them this and they tried to call the contractors to get clarification on which measurements were accurate. We asked to speak to the appliance manager and he told us that he didn't know any solution to the issue with the measurements. Last week I did get in touch with a higher level manager specialist who told me that the inspection and return policy should have been communicated to us by the salesperson and he agreed to allow us to return the washer. Our appliances were scheduled to be delivered on Wednesday January 25th with an installation date of Friday, January 27th. When the installers never appeared on Friday, we called their call center and were told that even though it was scheduled, they never assigned the job to one of their employees. They rescheduled it for February 2nd. Meanwhile, the large appliances were occupying half of our kitchen that we had to navigate around because we were informed once the appliances were delivered that we would have to pick them up and physically insert them so they had to be delivered and placed nearby. When my husband insisted on speaking with a manager from their call center, XPO, and asked for some level of compensation for their failure to assign and the delays, they agreed to discount us $25. The rescheduled day was one of the freeze days so no one showed up or contacted us. We called them and they have been telling us that someone would call us and we have yet to hear back from anyone since February 2nd. We have left messages with both HD and XPO and still crickets while these huge appliances sit in the middle of our kitchen. Will attach pics of the dented washer and appliances later. I started to wait to write a review until later because I fully expect at this point that this saga has not ended but given that no one will even call us back and we have been through all of this and not compensated or discounted for any of the issues and delays I felt compelled to go ahead and submit our experience and ongoing frustration. Man, I wished we would have gone with Lowes. It is ironic that the reason we didn't go with the best deal was because of the timeline when we are sitting here three months later without functional appliances. Heather and Sam read more

I went to the Home Depot garden center to purchase 10 bags of mulch(Hutto location). I would like to praise Elaine(cashier) for offering her assistance after one of the male store associates refused to help load the mulch into my vehicle. Before leaving the store I made sure the manager Julissa was aware of what I had just experienced. I really hope the youth that they are hiring will get the training that's needed to provide outstanding customer service to customers. Elaine was polite and professional. We went to check out a light to put above our dining room table. The display was up but no wiring connected. No way to see how it would look and how bright. We asked for help and we got it! Tina kindly wired up the light and put bulbs in it for us. We liked it and bought it. Tina went above & beyond for excellent customer service. And the store greeter (think her name was Carol ?) was a big help when we couldn't locate another item. This Home Depot is the best. Our only complaint that caused us to deduct one star is the new Home Depot credit card policy. In the past we always saved 5% on our total purchase if we used our Home Depot card. Was told that this policy has been discontinued. But at Lowes, you still get a 5% discount when you use the Lowes card. It doesn't sound like much, but when you shop at a home improvement store frequently....it does add up. read more

I'm dropping my review to 3 Stars ... Wood, tools, gardening and outdoor supplies, hardware, plumbing, electrical oh my is this heaven ??? I could live here for sure. Being a handy man and a jack of all trades but a master of none I enjoy shopping here especially when it's to help a friend remodel or repair something. So why the three stars ??? They do support and give a discount to veterans who are serving, retired or disabled. Since I spent thirteen years in the Army as a combat medic I didn't retire. Though I'm a war veteran I have no disabilities. And now that I'm to old to serve, I don't have the option to be active so I'm not eligible for the veterans discount and that is not only disheartening but also very frustrating. If you served and you're a veteran you should get a discount on your purchases daily not just on Veterans Day and Memorial Day. I'll continue to shop here as I like Home Depot over Lowe's, but I just wish they would change their veteran policy. Given the fact that I don't go to Home Depot often enough to know their Hours right off the bat and many other stores had a certain Hrs for the thanksgiving period, I called around 8:40 PM on 12/3 and the operator was so rude that I was calling to confirm the hours! She literally was telling me thanksgiving day was the only day they changed the schedule. Very rude to me and when I asked for her name she hanged up and when I tried calling back I never spoke to the same rep again. That is very unprofessional and if you are a Manager or a Supervisor your representatives need to learn or get retained on how to provide good customer service. Maybe if they were giving better customer service then maybe your 2.5 rating would change. Would not recommend this store after this horrible experience I'm shopping at Lowe's read more

I purchased an exterior door to replace one damaged. Given there weren't many choices in stock, I purchased a suitable unit. The next step is they contract with some other company to measure the walls. After that it's assigned to an installer. Easy? Not so much. The company doing the measuring told me it their next available date was 3 weeks away! And no idea about how long after that the installation will actually take place. That job belongs, apparently, to someone else. Home Depot contracts out all services and absolves themselves of any responsibility. There seems to be no concern for the situation they create for the customer unaware that the product purchased will not likely be installed for more than 3 weeks. Unfortunately, they don't seem to care, either -- that's just the way it is. No one accepts any responsibility for the ridiculously long timeline. It's a sorry way to do business - and a lousy way to treat customers. Too bad I can't give negative stars. Maybe I'll get my door installed by August? read more

I was in the Home Depot in Hutto, TX this morning. I gathered what I had to get. Went to the self check out and needed a little assistance. Well, the employee on duty was standing over by the front of the area looking at here cell phone (6:30 A.M.) and was to busy texting to hear that I called her 3 times. When she finally came over to assist. I had to repeat 2 times what I needed help with. She would not even look up to see if she could be of assistance. I'm in no way connected to this store, save having bought some items from here when moving into my new house...whatever you do, don't open a credit card with them, and protect yourselves from their business practices. I opened a credit card with them, and the card was late in coming. I've been living in my home for less than a month, and there was a problem with moving my mailing address...a month and a half later, the USPS admits their error and I get the bills...a $27 charge became over $200, and they reported me to Experian right away with no hearing or recourse. Additionally, the robo-calls from their debt collection agency Citibank pestered me at work, and by the time I got their bill, I was late by about 2 weeks...I paid the amount in full, and wanted to talk to them about my account. I also had an adverse from them (or someone) filed with Experian. Karen, the final representative I spoke with, only wanted to hear about the issues I had after I paid the final bill, including late charges, and she tried her best keep me as a customer...timing is everything, Home Depot. Do yourself a favor...don't get their credit card, and if you do, call and cancel. I wouldn't wish this experience on anyone else. read more
