Here goes. To put simply. This place sucks! Took in two Echo CS370's because I couldn't get them to run correctly after changing spark plug etc myself. Told them I didn't want to spend more than $200 total but was ok spending that much if both saws ran like near new again. They verbally said total should be around $125 unless something was really bad. So 3 weeks after they said they should be done they said one was finished. It's total was $98. Then I'm told they could work on the other saw because the handle was broke so I agreed to let them fix it. No biggie as handle is under $35. When that saw was done it was $132. Here's where it gets good. The one saw is missing the oiler screw that I thought they were going to fix. Nope. The pull rope doesn't go all the way back in. Didn't look at that either. So WTF did they do? They "looked" over the entire saw and changed the spark plug and gas filter. That's it. So for not $125 but for $230 I basically got a new handle. I can change the spark plug in 2 minutes myself. And how the crap does a chainsaw repair shop NOT see the oiler screw completely missing, do they not test the saws for proper lubrication? I for sure thought they changed a carburetor (or both). Or at minimum had to adjust the carbs. Not sure how one can charge that much to change 2 spark plugs and 2 gas filters on a freaking chainsaw with a straight face. read more

I wish I would have read comments even though old. Was pushed ahead after 3 weeks was told fixed (30in scag walk behind) tried using 3 times then would not start. Took back since not fixed. Anther 5 weeks told had to replace carburetor, just tried using again after 2-3 times doing same damn thing. Over it 8 weeks money out and still not running read more

Ok here goes again. I bought my Scag riding mower at Longhorn 3 years ago. Still doing great with it in my small owner operated business. But what really matters is that when I do need something the service at this lawnmower shop is stellar. Everyone here knows what they are doing and they all care about the customer. I'm sure they are probably super backed up or something I am hoping so at least, but definitely wanted to support local small business but won't be doing business here. This is my experience with them so far and it has been very poor. I ordered some parts online through their website, I followed up a week later and called in and a young lady told me that it doesn't work?? Why have an online ordering system for parts if it doesn't work? She said she would call me when my parts come in. Call another week later to check on status, got transferred over to probably same young lady, same excuse promised me that its' coming and the shipment is coming will call me when it arrives in a couple of days. Another week I call again, got a hold of someone else, gentleman this time. Told me it's the supply chain (which I get a lot of places are struggling with that) promised me he would call me as soon as it comes and I can call to check in and ask for him. It's been two more weeks from that conversation and guess what no call back to me about a part, it's literally been over a month and you can't tell me it is supply chain issues at this point. I went on ebay found the parts ordered them and got a confirmation that the parts will be here in a few days. read more

IT was close to work. 1st mistake. Dropped my push mower off that had carburetor issues which I knew. Was told told it'd be 2-3 weeks before they could look at it. After about a month I started calling (4 times during the last month). 8 1/2 WEEKS later and after multiple LIES over the phone about why it wasn't repaired a different voice admitted it had 'slipped thru the cracks'. That was After I had go into the store to find out what was going on 2 weeks earlier. Waiting on parts was the excuse then. "Oh it'll be ready by the end of the day" "It's on the bench now and he'll call you by the end of the day" "It'll be done in a couple of hours and we'll call you" Those lies are what I was told during the 4phone calls before I was fed up and walked into the store. FINALLY two months later I get a text that it was finished. They replaced the week old spark plug that was in it. ( I told them it had a New spark plug in it when I dropped it off). They changed the oil that I had done 10 weeks before. They DID replace the diaphragm in the carburetor (which was what I took in for in the first place. BEWARE. I WOULD NOT EVER TAKE A SMALL ENGINE INTO THIS PLACE FOR REPAIRS. read more

After trying to do it on my own I finally went to the professionals. Lowe's sold me a Universal kit that should have worked....or so they said! Ya didn't work. So I tried on my own and ordered from Amazon....right mechanics, wrong length! Then I remembered I live a half mile away from Longhorn....YES I was in and out in 10 minutes with the right part and within 20 minutes had it installed! I give Longhorn Outdoor Power 5 stars because they are the real deal. Whenever a consumer takes something to be repaired...we always have on the back of our minds...how much am I going to be ripped off. My experience was the exact opposite!!! I bought a piece of equipment from someone. This person told me they had it repaired by LOP. When I used the blower the 1st time...no issue, the 2nd time was a different story. The individual told me they had it fixed by LOP. Just to see what my options were, I took it to LOP. LOP indicated that the person I bought the blower from supplied their own parts; however, they were still willing to help me. To make this short....They fixed my blower and were sooooo professional. Kevin was the bomb! I could not be any happier with the work and customer service from this place. Don't be stubborn....take all your repair needs to these honest and fairs guys....this is a dying breed. You guys have a customer for life! read more

Zero Stars. Not sure where the other good reviews came from. Their customer service sucks big time. Came in two weeks ago because my brush trimmer didn't work. Knew there was going to be a problem when i walked up and dude behind the counter continued to play on his cell phone for another thirty seconds before acknowledging my presence. Said the wait was 14 days right now, but maybe they could get to it next week. Whats that? A ray of hope you are giving me? OK, then. He told me to bring it in. When I wheeled it into the store, He said: "wow if I knew it was that big, I would have helped you get it off the truck." What I heard: "I'm too lazy to get off my ass and help you." I called at the end of next week. they said they still hadn't looked at it. Maybe next week. I thought that's cool, because I was going on a 5 day trip. I'm sure they will have looked at it by the end of the following week. Nope. Day 14 - Called again. Dude on the phone said "when we said 14 days, we meant 14 BUSINESS days, we don't work on Saturday or Sunday, so its really on been 10 days.", well maybe if we are using your fuzzy math but I know for a fact he never said the word business, and even then, he had made it sound like they could get to it sooner. I felt my options were to either allow these ass clowns to continue to string me along for several more weeks, or just go get my trimmer and have someone else look at it, which is what I did. Showed up and dude at the counter didn't offer an apology or the courtesy to look at me as he pretended to be on the computer while I walked off with my trimmer. Maybe they have a lot of corporate accounts and that's where all their business comes from. I didn't see any customers in this place either time i was here. Not sure how they are staying in business but they have absolutely no customer courtesy or respect. read more

I had a discontinued stihl chainsaw go down on me... I brought it to longhorn to look at it after someone else said it was toast. They said it should be good with a little tlc. It took a while, but they got it fixed up nice! Now it cuts through trees like hot butter! What's even better, the original price didn't quite fix the problem... so they had to order a brand new carburetor. Since it was more then they quoted me before, they split the cost too! Now that is top notch service! Anytime I need small engine service or merchandise, they will be my first stop! Thanks again! read more

I took a mower and echo weedeater there for warranty work. Took a little longer than expected but not a problem due to the weather neither was needed. But they did explain that it was due waiting on a part. Also the holidays so very understandable. And not reason for bad review. The reason for the review is since the echo part that was bad was not covered under the warranty i could either pay for the part to fix it or not do anything to it. I chose not to do anything because more cost effective to buy a new one. But when we spoke over the phone and when i dropped it off it was never told to me that if it could not be fixed their would be a $35 inspection fee. When i picked it up i was told this. I explained to the owner that it was never told to me. But still i was charged the $35. No where is it posted in the shop of this fee either. That is bad business. read more

Usually when I go in there, I know exactly what my company needs to buy. Sometimes I need the dealers help in choosing because they know the latest stats and the maintenance required (since they are a service shop as well, and get to see these machines when they need work done.) Chris has the knowledge on their products and was very helpful. One of the ONLY places to find arborist or climbing gear in Round Rock. The best part? I had a broken leaf blower which I had lamely tried to repair myself (including installing a new carb purchased from Amazon). More curious and frustrated than actually needing this blower repaired (I had already bought a new one), I just wanted the problem diagnosed. I brought it to Chris at Longhorn. While they would normally charge $35 for a diagnosis, he patiently listened as I wove my story of frustration. Finishing my story while wiping away some tears (mine, not his), Chris said, "Hey, if it intrigues you, it intrigues us." Right there at the counter, he checked the spark plug, changed it out, and started the blower. For $6.95 I got a new spark plug, tuned carb, good as new blower, and words of wisdom: Don't never again buy knock-off spark plugs -- and quit flooding the carb. In all seriousness, you will not find this kind of customer concern and service in N. Austin unless you are a big landscaping company. I will highly recommend Longhorn to all my neighbors in Austin -- it's worth the drive. read more

My five star thanks Longhorn Outdoor Power. They were able to do an expedited service on my Honda generator before my camping trip. While five other authorized service centers in the Austin area (that shall not to be named) all had a 2-week backlog, Longhorn said that their backlog was less than a week and can expedite for a small service charge of an extra half-hour of labor. Longhorn was able to perform the service in less than 24 hours. In my case, it was well worth it. If I am not mistaken, Longhorn Outdoor Power is a family run business and the two brothers are there at the service counter to help. This business fit my model of "Buy Local" to keep money in the community. The salesroom is clean and organized. The service dudes come from out of the back room to check-in and check-out each item. On check-out, they run your equipment and get it loaded into your vehicle. Recommended. read more

Thinking I might need a new push mower, I found Longhorn Outdoor Power through the Honda website. Plenty of mowers to choose from at LOP. While talking to Kevin, the owner, I mentioned to him my ailing John Deere and if he could take a look at it. First impressions indeed are lasting ones: unlike most every other outdoor power equipment shop I have visited for repairs telling me that it will be several weeks before my equipment would get looked at, Kevin took it right away and would have it back to me working within two weeks. I knew then that this business was different from the rest. I had my mower back in a week. Kevin and his dad were top-notch professionals giving me all the tech support that I needed. We chatted for a while. They are down-to-earth. When I picked up my mower, Kevin even offered to order a couple of minor parts he noticed my mower was missing! That's caring about your customers. And get this: when asked about whether or not I should get rid of my very old mower and buy a replacement, Kevin was honest enough to tell me that he would be happy to sell me one, but that mine was fine and still good. Not very many places will say that to you. Repair charges were timely and reasonable. No complaints from me at all. Only the utmost satisfaction. Definitely not on the main drag, but very worth visiting it for your mowing needs. I have found the outdoor-equipment shop that I had looked for. I Cannot recommend Longhorn Outdoor Power enough. I dropped into Longhorn Outdoor Power pretty soon after they opened. They were friendly and helped me choose an Echo leaf blower, which has been working wonderfully. Recently, my weed eater started acting up, so I went back to them, and again, they set me up nicely with another Echo product. One nice touch is that they'll set up the equipment and start it to make sure everything is fine. Throughout the experience, they are friendly, patient, and helpful. I know my purchases are small, relative to the equipment they offer, but they never give any impression that I'm not just as important as any other customer. They also do repairs of existing equipment, with pretty good turnaround time (though I've not yet tried that part of their business yet). They are easily my favorite go-to outdoor power equipment place. read more

These guys are GREAT!! We were leaving in 3 days and needed our generator repaired. The job was not complicated but not something we could do ourselves. We took it in and they thought they could get it back to us the next day but called after about 1.5 hours and told us it was ready!! Woo hoo!! I had a Yamaha generator that was running a little ruff and bought it in to these guys. It took several months to get it back, that in it self was not a big deal because I told them I was in no hurry. The first time I got it back it was still not running right, running too rich and smoking like crazy. I took it back to them and they said I needed a new carburetor. I new this was a possibility so I was prepared. When I went to pick it up the second time it was missing some bolts, they ran to the back and got some but still should have been a warning sign. I pack it up and didn't think much else about it. The generator went out to the Sherwood Forest faire with my wife and she had one problem after an other, running too hot, smelling bad, fuel cut off not working. I was finally able to look at it today, it's missing an exhaust pipe, the air cleaner cover is missing as well as the filter, the fuel line was not even connected to the cut off, it was going straight to the carb, it was not the correct fuel line and was also leaking. A lot of the bolts were missing, about 5 and some of the ones there were badly stripped. I called to tell there there was a lot wrong and all but told me I was a lair. I wasn't asking them for money and I told that I wasn't bringing back that I had lost faith in their ability to repair the generator, that I just wanted them to be aware of the problem. They were VERY rude and told me I was full of crap. So here we are, this is your warning, DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE! I'm not sure how much I paid them, it was a while back, about $300-400 and it would have been a fair amount if all of the work was done correctly but I will never return there and I strongly suggest you avoid them too. read more

I'm tentatively giving 3 stars, because they seemed to go out of their way to make things right after my first return, which would have been 0 stars. I took my Toro self propelled mower in for its annual maintenance (oil, spark plug, air filter, blade sharpening, etc) and happened to mention it was starting to make a squeal when I engaged the drive. The tech said it was probably the drive belt, no big deal, but their backlog was 2 weeks. I waited 16 days before calling, and was told it was ready. When I got there, they told me I had a bent drive shaft and would be better off buying a new mower, but they'd discount the inspection fee if I bought it from them! What?! The mower was running fine, and just had a minor squeal due to the belt! The owner himself went to look, and said the bent shaft isn't that bad, and he'd make sure the routine maintenance was done by the next day. When I went to pick it up the next day, he only charged half of the normal maintenance fee. So, like I said at the start, they initially seemed to be bait and switch, but made things right in the end. read more

My first experience with this business was excellent. A competitor told me it would be 4-6 weeks before they could repair my self-propelled lawn mower. Longhorn Outdoor Power and Equipment repaired my mower at a reasonable price in one week.
