As we were loading it to take it to the store we found the instructions, but since they looked pretty complicated, I was willing to pay for assembly anyway, so I took it in. When I got to the store, I told Mark, whom I had spoke to on the phone that I had found the instructions and I would be willing to pay the assembly fee but he insisted that since he told me already that he would assemble it for free that it would be no charge and he and Chris put it together in no time.

I did not have a good experience here. Brought my 20 plus year old Hoover Elite upright here…read morebecause the bag cover on the front of the machine had snapped off. There was nothing mechanically wrong. Spoke with Kat over the phone first, and she said she could probably find an old cover for me, if my cover couldn't be repaired, and also offered a $40 diagnostic check. Due to the age of the machine, I accepted. After taking a couple of weeks to get back to me, she informed me that basically she wouldn't recommend putting any more money into it, because virtually everything was going bad on it. (Keep in mind it was working fine when I took it in, this was just a diagnostic, a checking things out). In fact she cautioned me against ANY use of it, even when I said I intended only to use it for small jobs such as my hall runners, in place of hauling out my new canister. After some thought, I decided to pick up the vac anyway (she had said she would dispose of it for me). I purchased a used cover for $10. I ended up taking the machine to Kirby in Temple, as the lady there offered to look it over and give me a second opinion (no charge btw). She called later that same day and informed me that one of the belts had broken apart. She told me it was a Eureka belt and was not supposed to be used on a Hoover machine. She said she would order the right part and fix it up, but that it looked to her like there really wasn't anything wrong with it otherwise. She did fix it up and I picked it up today. She ran it in the store for me and it appeared to pick up dirt easily. I'm not sure what was going on with Kat at A-1 but I had much better results with Kirby. Another odd thing was that when I purchased the bag cover from Kat and asked her to dust it off for me first (I guess it had been in a back room somewhere), she apologized profusely for not doing so before. No big deal right? However two days later, she called me again to apologize for not dusting it off. Weird and a nuisance. I cannot recommend A-1 and suggest you take to Kirby or somewhere else. The total bill with Kirby (replacing belt, cleaning the works out/labor) was less than the $40 I paid Kat for basically nothing. Save your money folks.

An appointment was set within a week of first contact. The samples were many and a lot of choice was offered. I had a Roman shade, faux wooden blind, and two shutters ordered. The initial contact with all of the samples is very enjoyable. Orders can take a while which is expected because the quality is so high. Communication was a bit unclear but only upon one occasion from the office staff. The actual first contact in the home and the installation are very well done. I would order window coverings again from Budget Blinds. I am very satisfied with the excellent installation and the final product.
