I feel compelled to write about a Home Depot employee (Raoul) who assisted me on Sunday (5/17/2020) who went "above and beyond" the call of duty. Full disclosure: I'm not the handiest HD customer. I took only one wood shop class in high school and there were guys in the class that did a lot better than me. I came to HD to purchase materials to construct a vegetable garden for side of my house. Raoul in the lumber department helped with suggestions for wood selection, measurement, selection of corner supports and screws. He even cut the decking lumber that allowed me to construct a custom sized vegetable garden. Total cost of materials was $67.76 (plus sales tax). Results were perfect. read more

This review is about the HD back office, not the store. I got a card and was told i would get a discount of $100 on the first order purchased. I went to the Riverhead store and bought more than $500 worth of fencing supplies. The brand new card didn't work. They called the credit office. It was closed. 30 minutes later I paid with a personal c/c and didn't get the discount. I tried to register the card. They said the security code was no good on this new card. For me Home Depot is one giant toy store. On a a serious note, this is the place I always go to for product and information. One must realize that some products at HD are made strictly for them and that may account for cheaper prices versus the speciality store, but for the majority of my home repair work, Home Depot is the place to find just about everything. Many of the salespeople there are specialists and can (and will) give you valuable information about your project. HOnestly, I have found that asking the right questions and giving them the full story of what needs to be done is important to getting all the correct information back from them. Bring pictures of your project, samples of product you're using. The more they know, the more effective they can be. Don't be afraid to ask and don't be afraid to say thank you. Let the person who helped you out know that their advice worked, or not. They will appreciate it. read more

Good Access to different roads. This is important if your hauling oversized objects on your car, like lumber or Sheetrock. the highway ramp and service road have great access points from the back. This Home Depot is better than average. They are fully staffed, and are almost never out of anything. The garden center is huge, and so is the appliance and lumber areas. Had a great experience late last night. Had trouble finding a fridge and the gentleman working the appliance area helped me get the best deal despite the fact that they were closing soon. He had to take me to different parts of the store to complete the order and even helped me open a Home Depot card so I could get 10% off. Like all Home Depots the return policy is stellar. As usual, this location is much more easy to deal with access and accomplish what you're looking for then the Levitown monstrosity. I came here got a parking spot right in front of where I wanted to be entered, found the department I was looking for and was able to locate my product. There were helpful people around every turn, and even at the self check out a lady assisted me with a small issue I had with one of my items. If you need a Home center, I urge you to come to Jericho Home Depot; avoid the hassle of the Levitown location. read more

Three stars for just being OK. I was nearby and needed some picture hanging wire and some other picture hanging things, so I figure what they hay, let's see what they have at this place. I did find a nice employee in the picture wire area who was sort of helpful with my predicament of what to use to hammer into concrete walls. Then of course a customer with 25 years experience in "concrete" chimed into the conversation to give his view points on my situation. I don't know all the correct terms for the items, except wood screws versus other screws etc., but I took myself down to the wall anchor area and started looking there thinking these things also might work for the job. Mr. 25 years of experience sort of followed me there and then again started with his version of what to do. What's seemed like a few minutes of this anchor or that anchor, I made a choice, told Mr. Concrete man thank you, and started to walk away at which time I think this guy started to hit on me cause he was asking me where I lived, if I lived nearby etc. Is Home Depot the new pick up spot for the mature crowd? Thankfully "G" arrived on scene from his store perusing and we were off to check out. Checkout, well that can lead to life long trauma and flashbacks. The lines are always long and tend to have someone in front of you that either has never done the whole shopping and paying thing, or they have an item that the cashier cannot figure out the price. We opted for self checkout, short line and all was good, until I did the dreaded scan of the spray paint. The register stopped and said "see a cashier for assistance". Finally when I was able to get the cashiers attention, she said I need to see your ID, then looked at me and said, oh no I don't, your ok. I mean at least look at it, don't make me feel so old. I could be an AARP graffiti artist damn it! So it was an ok visit, a few hiccups here and there and a possible pick up line by the concrete man, so it's 3 stars for now. read more

When she arrived she was "helped" by a "jake" who's attitude really needs to be checked. She asked him if he would place the door inside her vehicle to which he replied "what you're not gonna help me?" She explained she had surgery a few days prior and she is unable to lift anything heavy. He then replied "well isn't that convenient" he then recruited another customer in the parking lot to put the door into the car. Thankfully the customer was more helpful and polite than the employee. Bought $1000 patio furniture. Customer service answered all my questions about delivery to my satisfaction. However on day of delivery "third party delivery " company apparently does not abide by Home Depots delivery instructions. I was told that boxes would be opened so I could make sure nothing was damaged. Someone over 18 years old had to b present to sign for delivery. I paid someone to sit in my house from 6 a.m. till 8 p.m. bc this is delivery window.Delivery truck arrives delivery guy refuses to open boxes for inspection so person I hired to accept delivery at my home said I can't sign for delivery until merchandise is inspected soo delivery guy says I don't need your signature n leaves. I open boxes n pieces r missing n can't b assembled. I call customer service I was upset n was told oh that's third party delivery we can't do anything about it if they don't follow our instructions. I said come n pick up your merchandise im returning it n I don't want missing pieces. My backyard party is tomorrow night n I have no patio furniture. Anyway I want it out of here n they were very nice n said we'll make arrangements for pick up. We'll call you back in an hour to schedule return pick needless to say I have not heard from them I put my cc charge in dispute n had to cancel my party bc I have broken patio furniture all over my yard n no idea when they will show up to pick up. I will give it till Monday n then out to the curb it goes n I will dispute this charge on my cc till the day I die. Just don't LIE to me n then blame it on someone else n then don't even bother to fix the situation. If you can't take it home yourself don't buy it definitely not worth the hassle n zero satisfaction. I am now being forced to choose a star review on this platform b4 my comments can post. Now, I'm not typically the kind of person you find in Home Depot because I don't work well with my hands. My kindergarten art projects were always so disappointing. Anyway, I've been coming here recently for two reasons: - Deciding on what color to paint my bedroom next - Supplies for a costume I'm working on When I went to check out paint swatches, I stood at the wall for a good half hour without anyone stopping to ask if I needed help. I ended up leaving with a purse full of swatches and still haven't decided on what would look best in my room. When I went here for my costume supplies I had really great help. All I needed was water putty and a very small, tiny bit of red paint. I explained at the paint counter what I was doing and showed the associate the costume I wanted to make and what the red paint was being used for. Instead of mixing up a quart of paint which would have been entirely too much, she got me a sample which helped save me money. A few notes about this Home Depot. They have a rug sale in the parking lot all the time. It takes up a lot of parking spots but I suppose it's nice if you're in the market for a rug. Sometimes they also have a door greeter who will say hello and ask what is the main business of your trip. I only saw the door greeter on my costume trip here and he was able to point me to the aisle with the water putty. I like this location and I suppose with any staff there's people who really enjoy doing a good job at their job and others who will pass you by. read more

As a tradesman I visit a lot of Home Depot's, almost daily. Since moving to LI, this Home Depot has become my primary location. Compared to most locations in the 5 Burroughs, this place is miles better at having things in stock, not to mention items I just do not find at all in other locations in NYC. It's amazing the amount of hair pulling I've done in the past to find plumbing fittings and electrical supplies in NYC locations, I've not done that here so far. Oh, and staff while often are rushed do in fact go out of their way to help you, which is nearly unheard of in most NYC locations. The wood selection is good too, on par with most others. I do notice the hardwood section no longer carry dimensional Walnut, and in the section in general has been shrinking. read more

So I rented a ez trench error cable installation tool from this establishment. I was quoted at 77.45 for a 4 hr rental. The tool did the job.... now it goes bad. Tim, nicest guy in the tool rentals dept, was extremely busy. I arrived at home dept 310pm. By the way my rental was from 1115am to 315pm I proceeded to remove the tool from my car wheel in and saw a long line. Tim, kept his chiarub like demeanor and did his job. Unfortunately the computer didn't. It said I was late by 37 mins. I didn't think anything of it since I was in shop by my rental time. Maybe more then one person should handle the area. You know to take back rentals so HD doesn't screw people by adding 18.00 to the bottom line. Let's do a little math 17 x 100 equals 1700.00 in what should be refunded back to people since HD can't seem to get the idea of customer service right. Walked in - asked 2 workers who looked like they were ready to jump into an unmarked grave; "Do you have grommets ?" Girl: I know WHAT they are but I don't know WHERE they are. Her male co-worker looked at me like I created war & poverty. Neither of them seemed to want to help me. I work part time in retail- and even on my SHITTIEST day-- I would not act like that in front of a customer. I then found an "old timer" worker (they really are the best!) who pointed me right to them. At the register it took forever and cashier got distracted by everything around him and was having concentration issues -- serious concentration issues. Ive been here many times and never had an issue until my most recent trip. I purchased an incorrect item and asked someone for help finding the correct item. The guy working was unsure of where to find the piece I needed so he called over Faye, who was working further down in the aisle talking to two other employees about on of their 15 year old brothers who could beat someone to death, and they were using phrases like "dead ass" during this conversation, didn't seem like appropriate conversation for customers in earshot. Faye came over and said we were in the wrong aisle, we pointed out the original item we had and where it was on the shelf and she seemed bothered that she was wrong. The guy helping us asked us a question at the same time Faye asked us, and when we didn't answer her quick enough, she got an attitude, asked "did you just hear what I said?!" And when my husband said yes, sorry. She walked away and says to the two other employees down the aisle "this mother fucking guy just staring, what the fuck". Her language was deplorable, as was her attitude. When we were purchasing what we needed, we asked someone at the register to call over the manager. The employee at the counter called for a manager over the loudspeaker, and after waiting about 5-7 minutes, no one ever came. This location has the most under trained stuff... With all the issues that they currently have, there are the two things you should avoid... 1. Do not open Home Depot credit card. There is no extra saving other than the $25 they gave you initially. Also that $25 will be evenly spread as a discount for each item on your first purchase... that means if you return any of the item in that purchase they will not offer you a full refund as they said you got it as a discounted price... so you will lose a part of the $25 credit... I personally feel it's kind of a scam. 2. Do not use their window dressing service. It looks like a good deal - up to 9 windows for $189. But if you use their custom shades, it came out the same price with The Shade Store or other mid to high end blind shop. If you want to save money and pick the In store shades, they have very limited options. Good luck find the matching style with match color... plus the entire procedure is way too complicated. You need to go and find your own shades in the store and hopefully you find someone to have it cut to your size... if survive to this part, you must carry all of them home and wait for the installation. I had my measurement done in this late March, and unfortunately someone in Home Depot delete my order by mistake and it's still not being installed. (I went to multiple locations to get the in-store blind and I waited a long time to cut.) The assistant manager John is very kind and nice , but there just too many stuffs need to be trained... I am sad to see Home Depot is going down hill now and hope one day they can rebuild the system and make it more customer friendly... read more

Had the best customer experience today @ this branch. I had placed an order online for pick up I waited 5 hours to get a conformation to pick my stuff up I was losing Patients. I called the store spoke to a woman named Toni-Marie she was very sweet on phone she told me so to high volumes order will not be ready today. So I told her I'm gonna come in cancel and just buy there. She said you can but it will take like 45 mins to get in. I left my house cake to this branch. As I was waiting online for 10 mins a lady came up to me and said what are you here for I said I ordered online want to come cancel and buy in store. She said yes I spoke to you on phone.
