I have been a long time customer. I have torn up my credit card. The service for ordering a water heater has been disastrous. It was scheduled on a specific day. It never arrived. I contacted customer service. They claimed it was set for several days later; I sent copies of confirmation messages and emails. MY FAMILY HAS NO WATER either hot or cold. Then I receive an email telling me that the scheduled delivery had been moved to the new date. HOW CAN THIS BUSINESS OPERATE WITH SUCH INCOMPETENCE? Representatives were of NO USE, either confirming the order was being delivered on the original date or asking me for confirmation phone numbers that I do not have. We needed a new lock and wanted a keypad, so headed to Home Depot. The replacement lock was installed by a locksmith whi advised returning to Home Depot for extra keys. Bob waited on us almost immediately and fashioned our extra keys. I'm pleased with the service and give a 5 star. If some don't work, I'll be back! I must add that whilst perusing the store, 3 different associates asked if we needed assistance. That's rather rare, in my experience! read more

After purchasing flooring from Home Depot and waiting days without notice on delivery I can see how this company gets a 2 rating. Horrible people to do business with. Delivery service is horrible. My delivery was made 5 days late, apparently they couldn't locate it in the warehouse. We ordered 50 boxes of flooring , 10 arrived most of the boxes opened. My elderly parents came home raving about how helpful the staff has been during their last two trips to this particular Home Depot. Employees went out of their way to take them to the product they were looking for and speak to them with respect, kindness, knowledge and positivity. One female employee even ran the full length of the store to retrieve lawn bags. That makes all the difference at 91 and 83. Thank you for making their visit such a great experience. read more

I rented a rug cleaning machine yesterday. My husband and I used it to clean a long hallway. We were wearing shoes at the time and did not realize that the machine was not suctioning all of the dirty water out of the carpet. After we returned the machine and arrived home, I took my shoes off, walked barefoot on the carpet. The carpet was saturated with dirty water. We used towels to absorb as much water as possible. After that, we put two fans on it. The fans have been running for 22 hours and it is still saturated. Interestingly, when we returned the machine, the customer service person asked, how it worked. I strongly recommend that if you have any need to rent a rug cleaning machine , you consider another source. read more

Dear Lewes Home Depot I am sooo angry that I don't know where to begin. I have spent close to $20K on a kitchen re-do that has become a disaster -- what we veterans refer to as FUBAR -- that is, F**ked Up Beyond All Recognition. The latest screw-up occurred this past Tuesday when your subcontractors arrived to install our new countertop. Guess what?! They had measured it wrong when they did the initial measuring back in August. Consequently, the new countertop does not fit and needs to be redone or modified. No apology. They just hauled the new countertop back to their truck, put the old one back in place, and drove off. I have no idea when they will return. Since they are a Home Depot subcontractor, I hold Home Depot responsible for the mess AND I believe I am right to expect Home Depot to MANAGE this screw-up and make sure that the subcontractor corrects the problem quickly and gets my new countertop back to me quickly and installed properly. We are still awaiting the delivery of the final KitchenMaid cabinet which we should have had by early August. Instead, the wrong size cabinet was ordered by an HD employee. He actually ordered TWO wrong size cabinets way back in June when we started this project. He had to reorder the correct size when the mistake was discovered in August. Unfortunately, he again made a mistake when ordering one of the two replacement cabinets, so we are still awaiting the delivery of that final cabinet. Oh yeah, and when the one right size replacement cabinet was delivered to the store a few weeks ago, it sat in storage for 10 days. No one told us it was there. I only found out when I went to the store to try to get a status report. Dang! Really, don't you think you should be monitoring the progress of orders and jobs, as well as the performance (or screw-ups) of your subcontractors. I am disgusted with Home Depot and am considering seeking legal advice, if that's what it takes to get a project completed properly. read more

Had a recent bad experience with the paint department in this store and with Lindsay, the store manager. They mislabeled ( switched labels)2 5-gallon containers ( one was a light gray for the wall and the other was an off white for the ceiling; both were were close in color but definitely different) of a high end paint which caused a major problem as our professional painter and I assumed they labeled them correctly. A full days day of work wasted for painter and additional helper, as wrongs colors were used to paint an 11 foot ceiling ( master bedroom and great room) which was previously cut out with correct color. Very frustrating but not as frustrating as when the GM at the Lewes store said it was 1/3 my fault as well as 1/3 my painters fault for not catching it. Are you crazy!!! The colors are very similar and go on wet which is different color u til they dry. We assume the paint department would have labeled them correctly. Home Depot did credit us $250 but this did not cover the close to $1000 the day cost. read more

Ordered a whirlpool washer and dryer from the Lewes, DE Home Depot. They were on sale and free delivery. Yay. The sales person told me exactly what kit I would need since my old whirlpool was 27 yrs old! Very inexpensive adapter kit. They delivered them a couple days later, installed (very respectful of my wood floors) and hauled away old set. Thank you Home Depot for all the times you have advised me on fixing my little problems like replacing toilet tank plunger ($5) instead of calling a plumber. I'm a widow and a nana. They must sense my appreciation bc every time I need help, someone has been so kind. read more

Define what makes a great shopping experience - then do the exact opposite with this store. The order online function and pick up at the store option is a joke. 3.5 hours later and they had not started to get it ready and didn't communicate they were running behind or busy. I went in to find this out - even though the app told me they were working on it. I then packed it myself and NO ONE would or could answer my questions. One employee said to look at the app but because it was out of stock in the app - which it wasn't - the app wouldn't tell me where to go and he said he didn't know. Do not order any appliance from this Home Depot in Rehoboth that requires installation by a Home Depot contractor. Our experience was a nightmare and unquestionably the worst in our lifetime of ordering appliances! We ordered a washer and dryer on May 26th and finally had to cancel the order on June 27th because it still was not delivered- they missed two scheduled delivery dates. Spent at least 3 hours on multiple telephone calls trying to determine delivery status. Before we cancelled the order they promised delivery on July 7th but the local store rep advised me that they might deliver it but may not actually install it - the people that deliver it are just a delivery company and won't install it if it requires any effort or skill level! read more

I canceled and order and was slammed with a $300 restocking fee! I wrote a letter to the Home Depot corporate office after the Home Depot here in Lewes would not even address my issue. Because they too have not even provided the courtesy of a response , I'm using other platforms to express my displeasure! The following is an excerpt of my letter: On October 11, 2020 I placed a Special Order (H1604-134912) for cabinets and paid the total invoice cost of $1799.76. The cabinets ordered were standard cabinets. They were a "special order" because they were not in stock. There was no special deign or configuration. On November 4, 2020 I went to Home Depot to cancel the special order as I had found an antique piece of furniture to fill the space the cabinets were intended. The piece of furniture cost $400.00 and would therefore save me nearly $1400.00. The Customer Service representative told me she was unable to process the cancellation and that "Sally" would contact me to process same. I had not even made it to my car from the customer service desk when my phone rang. Sally informed me that she had contacted the manufacturer and that there would be a $300.00 restocking fee imposed by the manufacturer. Either Sally was an authorized representative of Craft Maid in addition to her employment at Home Depot or she has a "Bat Phone" with a direct connection to the manufacturer. Either way, very unlikely! The order was placed October 11th and I attempted to cancel the order on November 4th. Twenty-four (24) days; not even a moth from order date to cancel date. The cabinets had an "estimated arrival date" of December 20, 2020; forty-six (46) days away. There is no way that the manufacturer had "been ready to ship" the cabinets as stated by Sally. I cannot understand this or the fact that a restocking fee of $300.00 had been imposed by Craft Maid. My personal opinion is that this was a restocking fee imposed by Sally as part of her duties at Home Depot to avoid cancellations. read more

Customer service is pretty good , there is one employee there that really stands out her name is Beth she goes beyond to help you when your orders are not received when promised by online ordering. She will call to find out what's going on if it takes to much time she will call you and let you know what's going on so you I don't have to waste your time. If I could give her 10 stars I would. The 3 star rating is because of the rest of the store, most of the time the employees are just standing around doing nothing and don't lift a finger to help you. I will have to put the information into my phone and tell them where their products can be found. If getting wood for products most of the time they don't help load the carts they stand and watch. Again with the exception of one employee his name is Lee, he will run over and help you choose the wood and help load the cart ( another 10 star employee) and will also help load the truck! They have an older gentleman that will also help load outside but again you have younger men just standing around that don't go out of the way to do anything! So bottom line you have 3 awesome workers out of the bunch the remainder should go back for additional training on how you treat customers and be reminded that you are being paid to do a job and not to stand around and look at your phone and hide. read more

Poor experience at this store. While I had positive experiences at customer service making a return and with a gentleman from the lumber department who did his best to help in an area that was not his expertise, I was disappointed at the overall help I received. I went in to ask a question about a portable dishwasher I purchased from home Depot online and the gentleman who worked in the plumbing area/department, Keith, was extremely quick to brush off my questions, explaining that he had bad prior experiences with helping in portable dishwashers and was never able to help. While his advice to contact the dishwasher manufacturer or go online were appreciated, his unwillingness to really even listen or seriously consider my question left me feeling embarrassed for even coming into the store. Not to mention my question wasn't even mostly related to the portable dishwasher but helping with finding an aerator for the adaptor. It's not exactly an experience I'd like to relive or a store id like to revisit again. read more

Home Depot paint department June 20, 2022 ?!? The worst.. I swear there is only one guy that works in that department... I try to go there at different times so I can avoid him.... But... nope ! I was there from 7:45pm to 8:45pm The guy in the department left me standing there for 30 mins... he saw me there waiting while he chatting with a guy who was clearly not buying paint... then he left the department without asking me if I needed help... I waited patiently by the "order counter" he was paged several times. Several employees walked by me and asked if I'm still waiting?!?? He finally came back... and then gave me an attitude ... then he said he couldn't get to the can I needed and someone had to get it with a forklift!!! I saw the can I needed and it was just set back on the shelf but a fork lift was not needed. I walked out... I've never walked out of a store before.... Congratulations Home Depot you were my first! I know good help is hard to find...but ... really!! Come on!! The place was not that busy... I can see why.. You can do better Home Depot... at lease hire people that are suited to work with customers this guy is bad for business.... your store manager really needs to talk to this guy... he needs an attitude adjustment...While I was there for the first 30 minutes.... The management team at this store treats their employees like dirt. To be led on by the hiring manager during the initial job interview that I was being hired for a permanent part time sales associate position in the garden center was unethical. After six weeks of being their glorified water boy to water all of the plants, I was let go on the spot with no rationale whatsoever other than it was a numbers game. I always arrived early for my shift and completed all assigned tasks in addition to providing excellent customer service. They even hired additional people after me. These people remain employed. The training period required me to view many videos from their corporate office in Atlanta and emphasized how proud they are of all employees. That's a bunch of manure. I like their products, but it is so hard to get good service! Every time I go the lines are very long and only one cashier is working. I waited over an hour for an ordered product I was informed was there , but the staff strolling slowly to the back could not find it. Do they called the staff who was supposed to be better at looking I suppose, but they 'forgot' to look. Finally, it was found in regular stock in the to be sold products. Argh. I have dealt with some ridiculous Home Depot employees in my lifetime, but Home Depot on Coastal Highway in Lewes, DE has to be the worst. I have never met a more incompetent group of people. I picked out what I wanted and then spent 45 minutes looking for an employee in that department to 'ring me up'. This afternoon, when no one would pick up the phone in the store, I tried using their online Customer Service to resolve the issues, and that was just a joke. I purchased a large tool box yesterday on the condition they delivery today. They only had one left and it was the floor model which I agreed to. When their delivery people looked up the order this morning, and there were none in their store, they transferred the order to Cape May, NJ. NJ Home Depot Cancelled the order and in the end, no one bothered to me. I found out they cancelled my order by looking up the delivery status online. Their delivery schedule was today from 6 am to 8 pm, so I wasted the entire day hanging around the house for a delivery that was never going to happen and no one bothered to tell me. Now they are telling me that I have to drive back down to their store in Lewes so they can refund the money. They had no problem finding my account and withdrew money within 30 seconds. Getting them to deliver is apparently of no concern. My blood is boiling at this point. read more

I purchased a dishwasher. A week later they come to install it and tell me we need to swap the hard-wire for an outlet, so I did they come back two weeks later and the people who show up say they don't install dishwashers. They proceed to do a botch job of connecting wires and sliding it into place, ripping the insulation and not even bothering to mount it. The insulation was poking out of both sides and it was sticking out about 4 inches too far beyond the cabinet enclosure. I call Home Depot back again and this time they say they'll get people out here who know what they're doing. They send the same company again! This time again they say they can't install it, but attempt to anyway. Now it's crooked, and there is a whole pile of extra parts that needed to be installed with it that were just left there on the counter. They suggested calling the manufacturer to lie about it and say I need a service done on it because they're not sure how to install a dishwasher. I have been calling Home Depot in between every one of these steps. I call Home Depot again today and after having managers call me back all day, finally I get a call from the installation team, which ends up being THE SAME COMPANY AGAIN!!! This time they tell me I need to buy ANOTHER installation kit with more mounting brackets. I called Home Depot corporate and they offered to replace the now damages original dishwasher. They also offered to reimburse me for having someone else install it. So I had the delivery people here again to drop off a new-in-box dishwasher. I then called an independent contractor to quote me for the installation. He also looked at my other appliances that Home Depot "installed." The microwave was loose and they didn't use the mounting bracket to attach it to the wall. They just used two screws to attach it to the cabinet. The oven also wasn't mounted and was just there, meaning it could just tip over if a heavy turkey or something were resting on the door for a second. So I basically paid them to reinstall everything from scratch. Luckily the manufacturer of the appliances was willing to send me new installation kits (mounting bracket etc) since these delivery people took the evidence with them hoping I wouldn't recognize their incompetence. When they pulled the dishwasher out, the electrician told me they never recommend having an outlet under a dishwasher and undid the work Home Depot had me do. Now everything was installed correctly by people who knew what they were doing. I try to get the promised reimbursement and they instead say they can do nothing about the microwave and oven because I didn't complain within a certain number of days. So they ended up just refunding the dishwasher installation charge from my original order. Totally not worth the hassle! When Home Depot says "do more" they mean it! As in, YOU do more than necessary for something you paid them to do. The timeline on all of this was about 75 days. read more

DON'T BUY A DISHWASHER FROM HOME DEPOT IF YOU WANT IT INSTALLED. I bought a dishwasher at The Home Depot in Lewes, DE that included installation on September 29, 2020. They delivered it on 10/9/20 and had told me someone else would come to install it within 48 hours. Then I was called that the installation couldn't be done until 10/22. After calling all the "helpful" numbers they gave me to try to get it installed on an earlier date, I was told the only time available was 10/22. On that date a delivery truck arrived and dropped off a dishwasher installation kit and a power cord. They said they were not the installation people. Whooh -- I waited 23 days to find out that Home Depot would not install the dishwasher. I had to then find a plumber and paid $149.26 extra for them to install it. Home Depot's management was of no help at all during this process, although they said they would refund the $99 dollars I paid for installation and the $25 I paid to have the old dishwasher hauled away. read more

When asked for the phone number, I was informed they do not have it!!! Finally located the manufacturer's phone number and was informed they have no record of our service protection plan. THEY forwarded me to another service center who eventually forwarded me to Home Depot!!! What a run around. Want to find a sales person at Home Depot? Sometimes trying to find a sales associate at this store is much like that kids game Finding Waldo. It can be tough as nails. If I have looked for a sales associate for a period of time and none are to be found, I discovered that climbing one of their ladders makes them materialize out of no where. Went to the Home Depot in rehoboth beach Delaware to purchase a few items for a job we are doing in lewes. When going to the check out we realize that not one register is open. Our choices are to go to a self check out or go to the contractor checkout. The contractor checkout has 10 people in line. So we wait!!!! Mind you this is a Saturday afternoon on a hot summer day at the beach! When we asked why we were told they are short handed. I purchased a $1700.00 tool box for my husband for Father's Day. I called three times trying to find out a delivery time only to be given a run around. Finally, at 8:45 PM I was told the delivery time frame was from 6 am - 9pm. If you wanted a specific time frame you had to pay extra and even then they couldn't guarantee that time window. We were already paying an extra delivery fee. I was having a friend wait for the delivery and even if I wasn't I have never heard of anything so ridiculous. I've recently moved into a new home and this is the only store that tried to pull this one on a consumer. Needless to say Home Depo kept the tool box and I will be purchasing tool box and appliances elsewhere! read more
