It's a home depot. Nothing special but also nothing bad. It's everything I expect from a HD.

They have a better than most in-stock flooring selection. Drove all over Gilbert and Mesa to find that out. The man in the flooring section was so very helpful. I found what I wanted a week ago, but came in last night and it was gone. He went to check a few places and was willing to pull out a brand new roll if he had it. read more

This review is for their propane exchange and overall customer service. Over the past year, their propane exchange kiosk has only worked once. The standard procedure is to go to the outside machine, see if it works, verify that it doesn't and then go stand in line to pay for a propane exchange. Afterwards, a 5 - 10 minute wait follows for someone to come to the front of the store and unlock the propane cage. Tonight, after going through the first several steps and purchasing my propane I was told, " Sir - it probably doesn't work because all of the propane tanks are empty." This is after waiting a few minutes. I went back outside to verify that there are in fact propane tanks and I am now 8 minutes into my wait for a tank. The experience overall is incredibly frustrating and so much so that I no longer wish to give this location one penny of my money for any purchase period. read more

Avoid this place at all costs. I wondered around this store tonight for 30 minutes and not one employee could take the time to ask if I needed assistance. I finally tracked down an employee and walked around, back and forth looking confused just to see if she would ask if she could assist. NOT a chance ...she went back to storing some blind hardward in one of the kitchen cupboard displays. I finally approached her and asked a simple question - if they had an adapter for a range hood (since the range hoods were 8 feet from where she was working, I though just maybe she might know). I even showed her EXACTLY what I needed from the display model. She says "I have no idea, but if we do it would be over in venting" ... I oh, seems no one knows ... to which she snaps back in a snide, rude, and condesending manner .. I"M SORRY, I DON'T KNOW THIS ENTIRE STORE. Wothless .... Go elsewhere. read more

Took the family to a different place to get a tree before going to Home Depot...what a mistake! The place we stopped at first was not very friendly, was muddy and had puddles of water everywhere which ruined my new shoes and my poor two year old tripped and got hurt and all muddy. They weren't clear about pricing and ended up wanting $80 for an okay looking tree that was less than 6ft tall. It was a bust. From now on we are sticking with Home Depot. They were very helpful and didn't mind opening a few trees for us to look at. Prices are MUCH more reasonable and they had a better selection than the other place AND we got a tree so fresh it still had snow on it!!! The kids were happy and the tree after almost two weeks is still very fresh. We are very happy and will be back again next year. Thank you Home Depot for having such great employees out in the lot and for making buying a Christmas tree easy, enjoyable and affordable. read more

Went to local Home Depot on Val Vista. Several people asked if we needed help. RD approached us in the lighting and fan section and asked us what we were looking for. He helped us in the fan department and explained about CFM's. We bought two fans today and could not be happier with our experience at your store. RD was awesome. First I have to say I am a long time fan of Home Depot. I am a home owner, my home is older, I don't have the type of money to have someone out each time something goes wrong, so DIY is a must. That said, Home Depot used to be a great place to go to get what I need. Granted, it still has the things I need, but something has defiantly changed. Now I don't expect that there be a genius contractor on staff to walk me through each step of my project. However, The Depot used to have a fairly knowledgeable staff. They at least knew what they had on the shelves, and what each thing was used for, at least in a general sense. I also would like to say that it's not just this store either. This seems to be an issue with the company in general. The gearing just seems to be more towards pointing me to something expensive, rather than what I need. I don't know if they have adopted an up-sell policy, but the good advice is just not there anymore. Now I don't normally go in with no idea what I need. I generally have researched my project fairly well and generally just need pointed to where I can locate something. In the past I would get this plus, often, some good advise from the staff, sometimes even a better idea about how to accomplish my goal. Sadly, this was the past. Recently when visiting any Home Depot, if someone is not directly trying to sell me something - seriously I have been asked 3-4 times in a single visit if I wanted to sign up to get a free estimate for everything from windows to flooring- all while I am trying to find what I need, they are just not useful. I cringe when I am approached by someone asking if I need help now. On the occasion I cannot find what I am looking for and ask, I get wrong answers, bad advise, and/or directed to the most expensive item, that won't work for what I need. An example, I recently went in to look at sealants/caulking. I had looked all over the paint and roofing section where the sealants were, for a food safe, below the water line caulking. Now I didn't know if they had anything that would meet my needs, but I had read on the internet that they did. I even knew the brand/type I wanted. So, I asked the employee hanging around in paint/sealant section. He told me a story about his pond and turtle for a few minutes, and then said, "anyhow, all of our sealants are over here (pointing in the direction of the caulking section that we were literally just walking out of that was 10 feet away). Thanks, never would have noticed it otherwise. Working on the same project I was looking at concrete on a earlier visit. I explained what I needed, and was directed towards some rapid set brand concrete. I was skeptical, as it was the most expensive concrete in the store, and the label on it didn't sound like what I needed. Sadly, I knew nothing about concrete so I went with his advice. Not only was it the wrong stuff, it was a waste of money. Now I bet people who know what rapid set concrete is are already laughing. I know when I called my buddy, who works in concrete, to ask him what went wrong he was. Rapid set is exactly what the name suggests. I mixed it, put it in a bucket to move over to my work site, and by the time I tried to take the first trowel full it was hard as a rock. The total time from adding water to the work site was less than 6-7 minutes. The product is made for emergency repairs and/or setting posts, according to my buddy, and is about the worst thing to advise someone with no concrete experience to use. Also even If I knew exactly what I was doing, there was no way I could have used this product to get my project done. I have to assume this employee was either having a laugh, was going on policy to suggest the most expensive item, or is a complete moron. Now don't get me wrong. I take some responsibility here. I should have read up more on concrete before I ever went. And I don't expect employees to save me from my own ignorance. But, I used to be able to at least get sound advice when I needed it. Now these are just a few samples of the type of sub-par service I have some to expect at The Depot. Lately I have been visiting Lowe's more often. They suck too, but they have a larger selection and don't even pretend they know what they are talking about, so at least they're honest. read more

So my husband and I have been remodeling our home for the past month and on Memorial weekend we had my family coming from California and our bathroom was without a toilet, vanity and sink. Home Depot here we come! We ended up going back and forth to Home Depot 3 times till we figured out, that the size of the vanity and measurements of the plumbing kinda matter. lol Great times working along side with your husband when nothing seams to be going right, anyways. So finally after the third time we have the correct vanity and sink, it's about 9:00 PM and we have to go back to Home Depot and buy what we need for the plumbing. My husband had all the correct sizes in his head that we needed, Sean at Home Depot helped us out according to what my husband had in his head. Anyways get home pretty excited and DAMN! : ( wrong size. At this point we are both ready to say **** it. My husband being so frustrated asked if I would go back to Home Depot, so here I go back to Home Depot and it is 10:05 PM and they close at 10:00, thank goodness the Manager, Mike was taking a break and saw that I was in desperate need of help. He took me in the store because the doors were locked and lead me back to Sean and these two amazing guys hooked me up with the parts I needed and sent me on my way. It was a very stressful day and they made it all better cause we were able to get the vanity and sink in the bathroom in time for my family. I get such amazing costumer service at this location. I recently went in to buy winter grass and other lawn supplies and was given so much help. The manager there was so honest and friendly. My yard looks beautiful btw! They really seem to care. My daughter and I were getting bit by mosquitoes out in the garden area and they busted out some OFF spray and let us use it. Ill tell you how home depot treats their customers. me and my wife went to go get carpet done, first home, heard HD had good pricing and free install over 700, go and pay the 50$ to get the floor measured. few days later got a call, "ok its going to be 1800$ but the carpet would need to be ordered. 7-10 days till it comes in" ok that's fine. Asked about the Military discount that we were told would also work for the carpet, lady told me that i would have to pay in store for the discount to work. sent my wife in, who was the vet, to pay and perhaps pick a different carpet so we didn't have to wait so long. wife chose a new carpet went to go pay, we were then told that we were not allowed to get the free installation because of the military discount, WTF? does that make sense? what is the point of having the discount if i have to pay the install, it literally cancels each other out. they then proceeded to have my wife pay without telling her how much it was going to be. i then checked my email because they said they were going to email me the receipt. now our carpet has gone from 1800 to 2500$. What the Hell, how come no one told us this before they had us pay, why did it go up so much when the new carpet did not cost as much as the previous? with that receipt i said, there is no way in hell im paying that when we were quoted 1800 and military discount then only to be forced to pay 700$ more. absolutely outrageous. called the number in the invoice, come to a guy who said he didn't have clearance to refund and transfers me over to someone i don't know who because as soon as he/she answered the phone they proceeded to hang up on me. Called a Second time, first time was immediate second time, on hold. 5 minutes roll by, 10 minutes rolls by, 20 minutes rolls by, hung up the phone and called HD corporate, on hold another 15 minutes to get some girl, and when i told her that i was not going to pay anything for the carpet and i want my damn money back, she preceded to tell me that if i don't change my attitude and stop cussing she was going to hang up the phone on me. is this what you guys train them to do? im going to hang up the phone on you because your upset? im then on the phone with this lady for upwards of 20 minutes tell she tells me that in order to get a refund i would need to call the store my wife went to. why the hell did that take her 20 minutes to tell me this, shouldn't she have known this from the beginning? she then tells me that she can transfer me over to the store, and i tell her fine do that, she goes do you know their number. SERIOUSLY, you offer to transfer me then ask me for the number? so i told her, don't bother trying to transfer me the store, because obviously i could look up the number and do it myself faster than it was going to take her to realize how to do it, hung up the phone on her and called the store, waited another 15 min on hold till someone answered, told the man what was going on with it, gave him the information, he then told me that they "didn't charge anything yet" Then why did they take my wife's card if they were not going to charge anything? i told this guy i was not happy with any of this and to cancel my order. order, as far as i know, not to sure of how well their system works, should be no more. Least to say i am not happy with Home Depot At All, this whole thing has been absolutely terrible, and i will definitely think twice about using home depot for anything in the future read more

12/11/14 Phil is the Worst mgr & clerk. I spent 30min getting $45+ of pipe 4 project. then a lady clerk comes 2 put plastic pipe away way down the aisle & tells my 3yr old- Don't touch boxes, w/ no mess on the floor. Where was she the last 30min? Then I ask her for a 36in 3/4 pipe. she calls once & says nobody is answering. And is done w/me, ignores eye contact, walks away. I go get Mgr Phil- This lady just left me stranded, cart full of pipe & child. He calls some! And asks what I need, he looks around 4 help & finds 1 pipe on shelf. Lady walks into our aisle, I ask Phil why did she screw me, w/baby & full cart. He says Watch Your language abruptly! What? I say screw is not a bad word, Whats a better word, when Im walking thru isles w/baby & full cart & she offers no info. That's not right I said. I dropped my cart and left it in his hands! Next time I will go too Lowes on Higley & Southern. Plenty of projects left 2 do. Daytime & corporate will hear about this. Double Rude Jeopardy! read more
