Purchased engineered hardwood flooring for installation. installers showed up on time. Before they looked at the subfloor, they said may need to sand it. Okay, maybe an extra $200. They removed the old carpet and found out from the office it would be $588 more. Well now I'm stuck with no floor. That much extra cost for an extra hour of work? Called the Home Depot complaint line twice and was told I have to deal with the store. Called me back once with voicemail. Called them back and was told they would check. Been over a week with no contact. Probably won't by any flooring products from them again. read more

Purchased 7 boxes of vinyl planks the arrival dates they told me were off by a week. The molding pieces shipped a week after those. I called them to verify they were there at the store when I went to pick them up only five boxes were there. I went home called them a couple days later when they said the other box would ship, they said those boxes were there. I went there to pick them up and those boxes were not there. I had to go back a third time to finally get the boxes when I got there, they had no idea where the packages were and It took an hour for them to find them. They only use one installer for the floor. I had booked the installer they use and had to reschedule the installer for another date. I booked an appointment and on the morning of the appointment the flooring company they contract with canceled. So you're telling me they only have two guys for all of Home Depot to do flooring installs? Plus they couldn't reschedule me for the same day. The entire experience is horrible. Home Depot may offer some deals here and there and products here and there, but their service and their follow-through and customer service is horrendous. The GS flooring company I would not recommend but that's the only flooring company Home Depot uses. So unfortunately now you're stuck they've got your money and you have no recourse at this point. Customer Service has gone down the hill. No one cares about their jobs anymore. They fleece the American public in general. The American people get screwed over by corporations. Then they respond apologizing yada yada yada put some link below for you to fill out a Webform and you can't even click on it to enter any information. It's all a bunch of BS. read more

I am genuinely so distraught. I did my due diligence to see if I could afford a house that needed work. Before putting in an offer, I needed to make sure I could afford to change all of the flooring in the house, so I went to Home Depot to get a quote for their flooring. Scott was there to help me, he spent an hour with me walking me through everything. We landed on a quote of $15,000. I thought Scott was so amazing, I left there feeling great and put the offer in on the house, and it was accepted. However, a month later now here I am, I got the quote back from Home Depot that they are charging me $25,000 for flooring!!!!!!!!!! Upset is an understatement. I can't believe I'm going into debt because a guy from Home Depot lied to me. I just made the worst life altering decision because a guy from Home Depot that I thought was so beyond nice and helpful, was instead completely deceitful. He knew the situation I was in and that I needed an exact quote. He told me the costs for labor and everything, yet here I am. When she asked me what finish, I told her whatever finish the wall sample I brought in was. She said I don't know what it is. You have to tell me. I said I don't know. It's not my house. She fired back, "It's not my house either" with an attitude. She then asked, " are you going to pick a finish?" And I said I'd like someone else to help me because I didn't like how she was talking to me. She then asked," what? Because I asked you was ok what finish you wanted? Fine! Go up to the front and get someone else. I'm not dealing with you!" Then she threw up her hands and stormed away. Jeff then steps up and I asked home what finish he thought my sale was. Did not let me purchase an item at a given price and just snatched it out of my hands. Took it away and told me to leave her store. If I could give 0 stars I would. Our custom cabinets were defective, damaged, missing cabinet including an island. We wanted to return and the two individuals who came out told us we would be charged a restocking fee. We had them try to fix the problem that they said only happens once out of a hundred. They didn't replace the defective, damaged cabinets, and only provided coverings/fix its to those cabinets. The fix its don't fix it, the missing cabinets from the original order are also defective damaged, and we are still missing the island. We asked for a returned, threatened again with a restocking fee, and now we have to pay for a way to return our cabinets to get our refund. The manager, Frank, was rude to my wife on the phone reiterating the denial letter we will be receiving for compensation for the already 4+ months without a kitchen and the going forward, at least 3+ months we will go until we are able to get a kitchen designed and installed. read more

I went to Home Depot today looking for some paint and the man at the paint station (I think his name was Jeff) was SO helpful!!! He realized I didn't really know what I was doing or what products I needed, and he took the time to explain the process, recommend certain paint techniques, helped me select which products to buy, and answered all my questions. I've never had such incredible service at a store like this before. He was so focused on helping his customers that I didn't get a chance to properly thank him before he was off to help someone else. Please give Jeff a raise because whatever you are paying him is not enough! :) Even the lady who checked me out was friendly and greeted me with a smile. 10/10 experience shopping at this store, I will definitely be back if I have any other home improvement needs! read more

Three months ago, we paid The Home Depot to install carpet on our second floor and this unsightly impression is at the entrance to our master bedroom! We called them out immediately to see it. They told us, "just try vacuuming it". Nothing has changed after 3 months! NOW Home Depot has informed us they could replace the hallway carpet (admission that carpet was defective), but that the die lot would be different from the original because they don't have the original anymore...they said it shouldn't matter too much when all the doors are closed (we have 3 bedrooms and an office on this floor and we leave the doors open). Also, they said they won't replace the adjoining carpet going down the stairs, so that would be a mismatch as well. I think they should refund a portion of what we paid. They offered us only $500 when it cost us $4500 total! I don't want to have to go through the trouble of clearing out the entire second floor to have it redone, we work from home and the ordeal was so frustrating when they installed it the first time. It took several men and they were really loud the entire day, walking around the rest of the house as well! It really bothers us as we usually leave the double doors to the master bedroom open so we walk past this multiple times a day! This Home Depot location fundamentally lacks understanding of customer service. I have been in the store multiple times and can walk around for a solid 30 minutes without anyone asking if they can help me. Finding an available employee in this store is akin to an adult version of Where's Waldo. My wife was shopping in the lumber section, and approached an employee in that area with a simple question. Another customer in the area, who had apparently already marked the employee's leg with Modelo and Dorito laced piss, barked at my wife to go find somebody else among some other colorful language. I can only assume she interrupted some kind of ancient, secret mating ritual as the orange apron just went along with this trash customer's behavior. "How doers get more done, unless you're a woman, then f*%# off" All good, we'll be taking the lumber needs for our 4,000 sq ft home remodel to Menards. I'll be back to post the receipt. read more

But yet again, the disfunction of this store and its associates leave me wanting anything more. Needed a new lawn mower battery but they refused to take the old one in place of the core charge because they didn't know why. Couldn't tell me anything other than they could recycle it for me. Sold me the battery in the first place, but refuse to service it. Way to go Home Depot in Naperville!! You live up to your reputation. Tried contacting the corporation directly...don't bother. If they aren't answering, they are making excuses for their lack of customer service such as being too busy with other customers. There are two things home depot never failed me, good deals and lower prices, precisely what I need in my business. My local Home depot delivers the materials exactly when I need those items for my projects, giving me fewer worries about purchasing the products since they have customer service that is easy to handle. Every time I visit their store to take a look for other materials. I have always been greeted by their employee and assist in my search for quality material. Purchasing items at the cashier does not take not much time. Some of their bath and sanitary materials in their shop list are costly, but after buying one of their products, you get what you've paid. No question asked. There are tons of opinions suggesting that home depot is the worst, but the store is well known not for that reason but the quality of the items and price. It is sad to look at some of the reviews that are not even professional contractors suggesting nonsense whatsoever. Home Depot is the best store in this city and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! read more

My ADT smoke/CO/ heat sensor needed new batteries. Looked on line, Home Depot was open until 10:00 PM and they had the batteries in stock. Arrived at 9:20pm, the lights were on and there was a man standing in front of the entry door smoking, telling me that the store was closed. Alright, so reviewing The Home Depot isn't the coolest local thing ever. Sometimes I feel like I live at this location though, and they've helped me out a lot so this HD gets a solid 5-star nod from me! My husband and I prefer Home Depot over Lowe's and Menard's. All three stores are super close to each other, but HD is our go-to-spot for anything for our home. We've come here for landscaping bricks, mulch, plants, patio furniture, paint, tools, lightbulbs, light fixtures, a grill, and most recently carpet! Over the last 3 1/2 years we haven't had to do too much to our home, but when we do this is our first stop and we've been on a roll this past year. I have to say sometimes it is hard to find someone to help you, especially on the weekends, but they get pretty busy. Plus, this store is huge so it's kind of just overwhelming to begin with. Everyone that has helped us though has been extremely knowledgeable. I can honestly say that most people I've worked with here genuinely enjoy what they do. They're all crafty people and are good at their specializations. More often then not, I feel like the folks helping us are retirement age and see working at Home Depot as more of a hobby they enjoy then a job. I can't recommend the carpet department enough. We've never purchased carpet before so we literally knew nothing about different styles, prices, padding, installation... my husband and I were clueless. I forget her name, but a lovely lady walked us through the different options and gave us honest feedback. We told her we were looking to get new carpet in our upstairs loft and spare bedroom, and that our townhouse wasn't our forever home so we wanted something nice but not crazy expensive. She pointed us in the right direction and gave us the best advice -- put your money in the carpet pad, not the carpet itself. I'm so glad we listened to her because it turned out great! I highly suggest the Nike padding.The carpet feels so plush and soft (especially compared to what we had), the color looks great, and we didn't break the bank to buy it. We even looked at a couple other places for carpet, but The Home Depot turned out to still be the best option. Installation was free, they could schedule us a few weeks out, and it was free for them to move the furniture and dispose of the old carpet as well. They did a really great job! Last but not least, The Home Depot has some great options for financing. You can get their credit card or they have project loans which is nice. We will definitely be keeping this HD as our number one place for home improvement stuff. Our next project will be electrical - adding in recessed lighting in the bedrooms and new ceiling fans, and I've already got my eye on a nice Hunter fan I saw at this store. read more

This place is absolutely terrible. Between their garbage online ordering (which apparently takes them over 28 hours to fill for store pickup), their lack of concern for their customers (waited for them to answer the phone, which rang for over 20 min, and yeah you can hear it in the store ringing), and the fact that you can order a product they don't have in stock (even though their online ordering system says they do) but they're more than happy to take your money and provide lame excuses when you ask them (in person, defiantly not over the phone). But wait....there's more..... The real cherry on top is: When you do finally get to ask them about when said product will be in stock, or if there is a way to just have it delivered to your residence, their answer is; ".....yeah, sorry.......we have no way of doing that." We had some issues with an online order recently (wrong items sent etc) and weren't getting much help from the online customer service representatives that we called at first. Both referred us to the store for the order issues. Manager Liz called and took care of both issues very quickly and was patient and personable the entire time. she also provided some tips and recommendations for future purchases. This is a review for Home Depot's Christmas tree selection! It was a GREAT experience! There was an amazing selection of trees at amazing prices! We got a beautiful 8+ft Fraser Fir tree for $60. They played Christmas music, gave complimentary cookies, candy canes, and hot cocoa! Once we chose they bailed it and trimmed the trunk down for extra freshness. We tied our tree with the string they gave us to our car ourselves, but I saw workers helping people who needed it. Overall a great experience. read more

I normally don't rate non-food places, but I've been disappointed with the customer service at this particular Home Depot. On the one hand, it's chockablock with all things one might need for renovations and repairs, but on the other hand the service has been subpar, to say the least. My most recent trip was to purchase carpet padding, so naturally I spoke with the older gentleman who was right by the padding. He seemed annoyed that I dare disturb him, but I proceeded to tell him the specs of the padding I needed. When I mentioned the R value, he said they don't measure padding by R value. That's BS because right on Home Depot's website it lists the R value in the Specifications section. I then spoke with someone else and asked how I would go about purchasing what I want since it was on a top shelf and I needed someone else to pick it up. I showed him exactly what I wanted on my phone and gave him the SKU number, but he said that's not the one, that it's an internet only product. That's BS because it showed right on Home Depot's website that this location had 4 of these in stock. Well, he went to check and confirmed I had the correct SKU number. No offense, but shouldn't the workers know more about their products than the customer? Anyway, he directed me to the service desk to complete purchase. I went ip there and explained that I wanted to purchase the item and have someone else pick up. She told me I could do that from any computer. As I was about to leave, thankfully she agreed to help me out and put the order in. I was just relieved to have it done, so I'm giving 2 stars. read more

I'm always frustrated when I choose to shop at this store, because it's like pulling teeth to get someone to take you to an item. Maybe because the store is so big they don't want to walk you there, but pointing me down a mile-long aisle doesn't really help. As it happened on my visit yesterday, the first clerk pointed me down the WRONG aisle, so I had to find someone else to help. Gladly the second clerk took me directly to the product (basically because I wasn't going anywhere unless they did). Isn't that just easier? Overall I'd rather go to Ace Hardware: smaller and easier to navigate. (The only reason I didn't was because I had a particular product recommendation and was told I could find it here.) I don't think it's possible to get five stars for a big box store but they sure come pretty close to that at this location. The paint department is top notch and the lay out of the store works so well for me. So glad this favorite location is the closest to me and I've been to many a Home Depots over the 20+ years they've been in Chicagoland. I always start with HD over Lowe's and Menards. Not that I never visit the other places, as there are certain manufactures that I favor at Lowe's (Juno lighting) and the flooring at Menards. For all other needs Home Depot shines. Does anybody remember Builders Square and Handy Andy before Home Depot swooped into town and showed them how it's done? It can be hit or miss finding a true professional in the isle but the majority of the time, this is the better store to find that help you may need some advise on. read more

This is the worst Home Depot I've ever been to. It's cramped, with very narrow aisles starting right at the front door. Very poor layout, I don't know what they're thinking. And these employees! They're nice enough, but I've never encountered a bigger bunch of boobs. One was just standing in the middle of the entrance, blocking the aisle, chatting away with another customer. I politely said "excuse me" several times, and eventually just had to squeeze by because this oblivious moron still never moved. Other employees just literally walk right in front of you and block you to check things. Unreal. Then while I was checking out there was an item that did not have a price marked. The checkout lady was taking a long time looking it up and I finally just said "can we please skip it?" I had to ask her three times but she kept just looking it up saying "oh I just want to see the price, oh I just want to see" I finally had to say, "EXCUSE ME, I'D REALLY LIKE TO LEAVE." Needless to say I will not be back at this location, and I would not recommend anyone else coming here either. read more

I went to this store to pick up an online order and I called 10 times no answer: when I arrived, out of 5-6 employees standing laughing and talking NO ONE offered to help me. Then they seemed irritated by my presence. I asked for help picking up my online order and the entire time it was glaringly obvious that serving a customer wasn't on the agenda for the day. Then when they brought my items they were incorrect!!! Needless to say, I returned all the items and WILL NEVER return to the Home Depot in Naperville. Please train your staff on customer service: I'm a Pastor full of compassion and this was unacceptable behavior from this many staff members. I had a long list from a contractor and was not sure how to find everything I needed. Every employee I came across was amazing and made sure if they didn't know the answer they paged someone who did. Anson helped me with the paint and told me what to do if I got home and found the color was not exactly what I needed. Virgil helped me pick out the right mortar and made sure it was the correct amount for my square footage. Tim helped me navigate the many faucets to choose from and what are the strengths of each project. George helped me in millwork and when I couldn't decide printed up the choices and highlighted the important information. He saved the order to make it easy if I decided yes. Siral and Tony helped me look for hard to find a furnace filter size. When it couldn't be found Tony told me I could order it online and have it sent to the site. Liz helped me find a flange. Who knew there was an object called a flange? Anissa looked up model numbers and hooked me up with other employees when I had detailed questions. She was so warm and welcoming I felt like I was her favorite aunt! When I went to check out and there was only self check out she checked me out. Yeah! Whoever is hiring is getting people with great customer service skills who help people and know what they are talking about. I don't find that at many big box stores. Improve on! The only reason it is not 5 stars is it should not be all self-checkout. One or two self-checkouts are okay but have at least two full-service check outs. If don't want help I could order online and have it sent to my house. read more

I was scheduled for a delivery and installment of a washer a bought. When the delivery team pulled up I sense a dread looked in his face. I assumed it was because of the stairs so I offered for them to go through the garage because through the doors is my laundry room he seemed a little better but still something was off. There is 3 stairs to the laundry room and he kept offering to just deliver to my garage and I said no because I paid for installment. Then he said there was a leak so they couldn't install they could only deliver. I asked if I could call Home Depot and ask about a refund he said I couldn't because he could not wait I can have it delivered to my garage or he could say I refused. I was on the phone with Home Depot when he just left. Home Depot was just as dismissive about my concerns and I just said can it just be delivered and I will have someone else install and they said no because the washer door was defective. I was confused because they told me it was about a leak and was willing to just leave in my garage. It took almost an hour of being on the phone for them to say it wasn't defective but now they cannot deliver until 2 weeks later but online if I place a new order it can be delivered in 4 days. The customer service was all horrible so I just canceled and placed my order somewhere else. It's horrible to feel as if what you are saying does not matter. When I tried to explain I was instantly cut off and felt as if I was being dismissed the entire phone conversation. read more

This Home Depot is very inadequate, I ordered carpet from them a few weeks ago. They came out and measured... They said they measured wrong and had to come out again this past Monday to remeasure... They told me they would contact me within 24 hours for installation date. I have not heard from them... I tried calling them was on hold and transferred calls for over an hour... A manager finally answered the phone and said we cannot help you until Monday! If this is the way they treat customers, they don't deserve your business! BTW the managers name was Mike!
