    New Hot Tub!! Can't wait!!
    Vanessa S.

My husband and I ran in here an hour before closing to buy 3 pool sticks. Mike took his time explaining the best options for us. We were there with our 2 toddlers and Mike & team were very patient with us. We migrated over to the hot tub area and fell in love with one. Mike explained all the benefits and took his time ensuring we understood everything about the tub. We went past 8p having to take care of some details but he took his time to do it right. The schedulers called me first thing in the morning the following day and scheduled delivery 3 weeks out. We couldn't be more pleased with our decision to work with this team! Thank you! Highly recommend!

This is where the box cutter knife cut through the fabric. It is about to tear to the edge and back up through the middle.

We purchased 6 new sling back style chairs from this store. When the delivery people came, they removed all of the plastic from the chairs with box cutter style knives. it took us a couple of weeks to notice, but we see after using one of the chairs for the first time that they cut through the sling back material with their knife. we called the store and were told there is nothing they can do for us. A several hundred dollar chair is now worthless as this is going to tear when someone sits in it for the first time. Chris and everyone in the Great Escape customer service department failed us. There are much better places to shop for your outdoor furniture needs where they don't ruin your furniture as part of their delivery service.

You'd think trying to find heavily discounted patio furniture in mid-late September in Chicagoland would be a breeze. Not so much...and, unfortunately, The Great Escape was one place on my list that made me run for the exit within 15 minutes of setting foot in the store. The Good: 1) The furniture quality seems pretty solid. 2) Hubs and I spied a decent variety of patio goods - wicker, wrought iron, large tables, small tables, chairs, etc. Considering the time of year, this was pretty impressive. The Bad: 1) Location: From the outside, The Great Escape looks oh-so-sad. Shoved into a barren parking lot, it has practically no appeal. 2) Prices: I'm usually fine with paying what's necessary for good, quality merchandise. However, in late September I don't expect a small, four seater patio table and chairs to cost $1800...and that's after the "special" 50% tags are applied. What?! After we walked around for 10 minutes and couldn't find one set (even small options) we liked for less than $1500, we were out like (sad) trout. 3) No one seemed to work here. While we were only in store for 15 minutes or so, I didn't hear so much of a peep or a hello from anyone who worked here. Meh. Sorry, Great Escape, it's just not going to work out between you and my patio.

This 18'x33' Oasis, Semi-In-ground pool went in during a separate patio and shed pad project. We sunk the pool as much as safely allowed.

Great job! Things started off rocky, but Steve made sure the pool was perfect. I really appreciate his help.

I had a very disappointing experience at Wannamaker's and will not be returning. After spending…read moreover $400 on an olive tree, soil, and planter, I discovered an infestation that began shortly after purchase. When I went back to the store for help, they were completely unhelpful and unwilling to offer a refund or even store credit. Instead, they tried to sell me a $10 bottle of soap that they admitted may or may not work. Beyond that, there was no real guidance, advice, or effort to help resolve the issue. For a specialty nursery with premium pricing, I expected far more expertise and customer care. I strongly believe in supporting small businesses over big box stores, but this place was a complete disappointment. Between the high prices and lack of support, the value just isn't there. I will be finding a new nursery in the spring and highly recommend others look elsewhere as well. If you're looking for quality plants, knowledgeable staff, reasonable prices, and customer care, Wannamaker's is not it.

The one attached to the mall feels like a madhouse with the narrow aisles and big shopping carts. This one you have two different size shopping carts and it's more spacious. Parking lot is ample. The products are placed neatly on the shelves vs the other location. I do have to take off a star for customer service. We stood in line for a few minutes and most of the employees were just standing around talking. Only two were actually working. One stopped talking to check us out, by that time the line got longer. It's easier if they just clear the line instead of letting it build up.

First off, anyone with basic common sense knows you only need to scan and the system will tell you if there's another size in the store. She was post-menopausal, and you could just tell. She was highly irritated with my question of whether or not there was another size in ONE garment in a retail store. How obscene it is for me to ask such an unheard-of question. I even told an employee about this terrible experience at the store, and she told me they've been having issues with customer service lately, that employees are becoming rude towards customers. If employees are complaining about their own team, things have already gotten out of control..

I am not going to quietly accept losing $1,377.93 for a job that was never completed. We paid $2,377.93 upfront through Zelle for a salt tank installation. Invoice #5389. The tank was never installed. After payment, we were given repeated delays and excuses. Eventually, we cancelled the job and asked for our money back. We received $1,000. The remaining $1,377.93 has STILL not been returned. As of August 8, 2026, I am still chasing this balance months later. This isn't a dispute about whether we liked the work. There was no completed work. We paid in full, the installation never happened, and we are still missing a substantial portion of our money. I have the receipts, invoice, payment records, messages, cancellation, and proof of the partial refund. This is not hearsay or speculation. These are the facts of our transaction. If you're considering hiring this company, please do yourself a favor and investigate everything BEFORE sending money. Get a written contract. Understand the refund terms. Verify the business. Be extremely cautious about paying thousands upfront through Zelle or Venmo. $2,377.93 paid. $0 installation completed. $1,000 refunded. $1,377.93 still owed. I will continue documenting this experience until the balance is resolved. I am not going to roll over and pretend this didn't happen. Our money is our money, and we want it back.
