Home Depot is Home Depot no matter where you go. Great prices, staff is pretty knowledgable in every department. Open early for the contractors in town. I have had a lot of good experiences with the special order people, they are thorough, and good at keeping the customer updated on changes. This Home Deot is smaller than others, sometimes this means that they do not have items that other HD's do. Some items seem to run out of stock sooner than other stores to. Their delivery of appliances needs a major upgrade. We purchased a stove and microwave over five weeks ago. The soonest they could schedule a delivery was today, May 30. We just received a call from the delivery service the Home Depot uses and were informed that a driver has gotten sick so there is no one to deliver your appliances. The earliest they offered redelivery was more than a week away, now scheduled for June 8. Certainly Home Depot can contract with a company that won't be affected when 1 driver calls in sick. From date of purchase, our appliances are now scheduled for delivery 47 days later. I will not purchase future appliances from Home Depot - almost seven weeks to delivery is inexcusable. read more

I know this hardware store isn't the place with the helpful hardware folks but yesterday I needed a sheet of insulating foam board measuring 4 ft by 8 ft. A size that wouldn't fit in my car. I expected someone much younger than me set the board on a place I've seen others cut plywood and cut the sheet into three pieces with two cuts. When I asked for help (begged) the associate handed me a box cutter and a tape measure. I asked if I could have a straightedge but he shrugged his shoulders. I balanced the board on a cart because being almost 70 years old doesn't lend itself well to working on the floor. It took me about an hour to cut, cart to my car and fit it into the trunk. I returned the tape measure and box cutter back to the staff person who didn't ask if I was successful or if he could help in any way. Even though several staff persons saw me struggling every step of the way, never did an offer of help occur. Fortunately Denise working at the Pro desk diligently pursued getting approval to honor the quoted pricing. Her efforts saved me about $1,000 in inflationary profiteering costs. You would think a pro rewards member with over 40k spent in this store this year could get a little bit better service. Apparently not. I never have gotten very good service here. There are never enough employees to help and the ones who are there seem to hide from the customers. Went there today to buy tile but no one was there. Home Depot truly is my "toy store" and I am at the Placerville store a lot. It was a big win for the City of Placerville landing the store in the city limits (missed the mark with Walmart), and I like to keep the taxes local. And the Placerville Home Depot seems to be a little different than others I sometimes go to (Folsom etc). The staff in Placerville are the best. George in Tools, and all the ladies in Paints...very helpful. Sometimes you can get lost in the big 'box stores', and I know HD well, but I have never gone into the Placerville store without being asked if I could be helped. Normally I don't need assistance, and sometimes I have questions. I know I will get what I need at this store. I have had difficulties returning things in other stores, but never in Placerville. Outstanding service! UPDATE: Where is the 6th Star icon? Home Depot is a Dog Friendly business. And my constant companion even gets a treat at check out! That's what the customer wants. So I went into Home Depot about ten minutes ago with my father, and love the products you guys sell. But you need to work on know where products are in your store. Also we had a peg board, 100 foot deer fencing, 11 stakes, and a few other small things. No once asked us if we would like help or so me and my 75 year old father load all this heavy stuff into the back of the truck. The lady who check us out was wonderful, and the gentlemen whole help us find and load the stakes into our cart was great but honesty everyone else sucked. read more

Nadine was no help whatsoever, We went to the service desk to get some help but she just looked us up and down and stereotyped us or she was falling asleep while helping us. Nadine ended up not helping us out and rolled her eyes multiple times and it seems that she would not answer any of our questions that we gave her. placerville has always been bad , most of it is no employee supervision. Employees just wander around get upset if you ask the a question wait until you put the last bag board or what ever on your truck then come over to help. There was some slob that worked in appliances that was the foremost authority on politics, I bought a refrigerator had to listen to his opinions, I bought a stove had to hear it bought an oven hood yet more crap arguments. We went in to purchase carpet and a washing machine. Easy, right? Oh, I think not. We couldn't find anyone to help us. There were two employees sitting at a table. They were helping one customer. We waited patiently to be acknowledged. Another woman asked for help even though we were standing right there and the staff person went to help her and ignored us. Quite disappointed with my most recent experience. I frequent Home Depot multiple times a week due to it's proximity, but after the most recent experience, I may put in an extra few miles to go somewhere else. I recently bought 6 gallons of custom colored paint, and the next day (yesterday) a rebate started offering $10 off a gallon of paint, and $40 off 5 gallons of paint. I found this out today when I went to buy two more gallons of paint for another project today. I was able to take advantage of the rebate for these two, but when I asked in the store, and the customer service number, if I could return/repurchase my unopened custom paint purchased the day before the sale, or get an adjustment receipt, I was flat out told no. I could not return it for cash, for store credit, etc. They are sticking to their return policy well, but not providing a great experience for customers - especially ones who frequent the store as often as I do. I guess the $50 in store-credit-rebates is more important than the thousands of other dollars I spend otherwise. Any other company where I have run into this issue, they have been accommodating if there was a sale, rebate, or change of price within 30 days. But not Home Depot. read more

I just moved to Placerville last week. This Home Depot by far has been the best. Everyone that works here made sure I found everything I was looking for. I ordered product online that was misplaced and four people were on it. They made sure I was in the loop about everything. The communication by far was the best, seeing as I will be in here often, I look forward to it. read more

Mike in the paint section is a complete dick. I was waiting in line (didn't know the guy ahead of me has already been taken care of.) I stepped off to the side for about 5 seconds when he asked who was next. I made my way over to the counter but he had already started helping someone who just rolled up. Ok. I get it, I stepped off to the side. He asked if I was next, and I told him I was after the gentleman (he mentioned just now he had been helped already) so then I said yes but the guy at the counter already had his paint in hand. Cool you take the next spot cuz I needed pain made. Then Mike goes and bitches in an isle to another employee that customers are super grouchy today. My husband and I just went to buy hornet spray. I was appalled at the lack of precautions taken for associates and customers. No sanitizing of carts at all, most associates not wearing masks, customers as well. Crowded and chaotic, no distancing guidelines. All this while the state is under a mandatory mask order. I would have actually rated this location a bit higher, but on a recent trip, I was severely disappointed. I checked online and saw that this store had a ceiling fan in stock that I wanted to purchase. Lowe's has been known to carry the same ceiling fan, and since HD has a price match policy and is closer to my home, I went there to pick it up. Come to find out, Lowe's no longer carries the fan, but when I looked again in the store, I noticed the fan was on sale on the HD website! My lucky day! I'll just double check the price at customer service... I loaded the fan into the cart and wheeled it up there. When I asked the person at the counter to scan it, they read me the price as marked on the shelf. When I commented that I found the price on the exact same item to be lower on their website, he was confused. I showed him my smartphone and asked if he would match the online price. He quickly (no thought involved) told me no, we can't do that. Online pricing is different than the stores, and we have no control over it. OK, but you'll match and BEAT a Lowe's price? I'm here right now man, and I have cash! Nope. No go. I walked it back to the aisle, ordered it on their website from inside the store and it was at my door two days later. Not only that, I saved $40. Now, what self respecting store would lose local business with cash in hand to a website? What if I would have gone to Amazon instead? Common sense would tell this business that it is a best practice to keep your customers in your store, in their county of residence. IT IS GOOD FOR BUSINESS. IT IS GOOD FOR THE COUNTY. It became very clear to me that day that none of that matters to the Orange box. Apparently, neither does good customer service. read more

Horrible customer service. I attempted to return a $19.00 electrical plug. After waiting in return line I was sent to the new line labeled on line pick up. I waited an additional 30mins to speak to an employee. Needless to say no one ever asked if I needed assistance or If I was helped. The frustrating part was I counted no less than 12 employees aimlessly trying to avoid eye contact with me. Ask yourself this why patronize a business that acts as if they are to busy to assist you. I have probably spent 30K in this store over the past 5 years. No more business for me. LOWE's here I come. Maybe the Placerville Home Depot employees will enjoy not having to avoid eye contact or work the registers. I've been so disappointed in this Home Depot location since it opened. The nursery department is so mismanaged that the plants are stressed and dying. I used to go by every Friday after work and buy one plant "to save it's life." The last time I was there, there were whole sections of plants dying from lack of water. The person at the check out stand said someone was supposed to be watering them, when we commented on the condition of the nursery. Management has also taken over huge sections of the parking lot to stack soil and fertilizer bags, making a small parking lot even more of a challenge. It appeared they may be over ordering plants and then letting up to 1/4 of them die before selling. Very disappointing for customers who would love to buy healthy plants, and actually be able to find a parking spot. read more

Don't be fooled by this store's nice exterior, you can polish a turd all you want- it's still a turd. I've yet to be visit a Home Depot id rate above 3 stars- but this one is the WORST. Their inventory numbers online never match what the store actually has, half the staff here is stoned- and the other half probably thinks left handed screwdrivers exist. My last two trips were for 12x12 pavers and basic cinder blocks- both times they had 0. Don't waste your money here- especially with diamond pacific, pro builders supply, placerville hardware and true value hardware all being nearby. read more

So we came in and purchased a washer/dryer set for $3k. No problem and Christane was an absolute dream for a salesperson! The problem lies with the looser delivery company they use. After finally being told for the fourth and final week that it was going to be another week we went back into the store and cancelled our order. The delivery company they are using doesn't care if you'd like your purchases delivered!! So we happily went to Edward's A-1 Appliances and bought the washer/dryer there. If you live on a small private road in El Dorado County, Home Depot cannot deliver a small load of lumber. The lumber was placed on a 38' semi. Fortunately, before leaving the store, the driver called me and realized he could not maneuver the required turns. We rented a U-Haul for the next day, and went to the Placerville Store to pick up the $2,000 lumber order. Home Depot Staff loaded the lumber into the U-Haul, and then the (currently) 8 calls to request a refund of the $79 delivery charge had begun. The explanation is "Home Depot has issued you a refund, please wait 5 days to post to your credit card". The credit never arrives. If you place a lumber order, please compare your "Original Receipt" with Home Depot's "Online Receipt". While the $79 delivery charge was removed, additional CA Lumber Fees of $103.06 were added and Sales Tax was over calculated. Don't have Home Depot deliver, it's just not worth the hassle. read more

I'm giving it 3 stars because I love Home Depot, they always have what I need and a great variety and good prices. But their order pick up is the worst. It's never timely. I'm either waiting on one of 3 associates just hanging around by the pick up area to notice me or like today- I've been standing here for 20 minutes to pick up my order because someone put it away. I already signed for it so I can't just go grab what I ordered in the first place. This isn't convenient and no one has checked back in to tell me where my 5 items in the garden section are. read more

I went here Sunday to buy some plants, I could not believe my eyes, a lot of the plants where dried up,needed water and so many staff just standing around. ONE MORE VERY BAD OBSERVATION, I HAD TO USE THE RESTROOM AND OMG THE TOILET HAD POOP ALL OVER LIKE SOMEONE HAD GOTTEN SICK(diarrhea ) and the floors hadn't been cleaned,sink was filthy Where is the health department on some of these retailers. The only reason we come here is because they're the only big place in town, but I wish we had a Lowe's. It's always hard to find what we need, and even harder to get a person to direct us. I was crutching around with a broken leg and still had two different workers look the other way as I came toward them to ask where things were located. I was hoping to avoid my usual 4-5 lap journey around the store to get everything on my list, but not this time. I have had very bad luck at this store compared to other Home Depots in the Sacramento area. Trying to get help or just find a HD employee is like pulling teeth! If you haven't been to a home depot kids workshop, you are missing out. It is the neatest kids activity and it all FREE! Here in placerville it is ran by a gentleman named Jose and lady named Brittany. They are the BEST!!! Out of all the home depots this is our favorite and it is because of these 2 amazing people that love and adore the children. There are many times I go with more than 1 kid and it's so sweet and wonderful Jose and or Brittany will help you manage all the kids you bring. They are happy to do so and they are so wonderful with the kids.I am highly recommend this Home Depot and why is because of Jose and Brittany. They are the 2 greatest workers I know. I purchased a bunch of wood from this location in which my stepfather was going to help me build a fence. Later my stepfather had a heart attack and died. I had no one else to help me nor do I know how to build a fence. I called and spoke to the manager at the Home Depot in placerville, Troy. I asked him if it would be okay to return the wood that I purchased even though it's past the 90 days. He was extremely nice, understanding, compassionate, and sympathetic. He let me return the wood and I was able to get a full refund. Troy treated me not like a customer but like family. I really appreciated him going out of his way to help me out. Amazing, excellent, awesome customer service from Troy. I will continue to shop at this location. read more

The guy behind me. I'm still standing there thinking "I could have went through the self serve twice by now". So I did, but just once.
