I've spent thousands of dollars at Home Depot over the years and I want to note that many of the long-tenured associates have been excellent. Unfortunately, today's experience was the opposite. What should've been a simple request turned into a wasted trip. The shelf was empty, but there was clearly more stock stored up top. I asked an associate if he could help retrieve it or call someone who could. Instead, he just pointed me to another associate who was already helping a customer, and offered no call for help, no follow-up, and no clear next step. I didn't expect anyone to drop what they were doing, but I did expect basic customer service--either call assistance, find the right person, or tell me where to wait. I ended up leaving my cart and buying the same items at Lowe's nearby. Home Depot: please coach associates to take ownership when a customer needs help accessing inventory. A quick page or radio call would've solved this in minutes. read more

Brand new lawn mower delivered today that looks like a piece of crap. Note provided pictures. This is the product that HD shipped to me today. Rust on the bolts, rust on the frame, and rust in the cup holder. $2500 piece of crap that HD didn't even take the time to look over before delivering it. Probably left this thing outside for months and then sold it to me. Last time I ordered recessed lights they lost some of the order and only refunded me. Didn't even offer to replace. 5 years ago ordered a snow blower and it got lost in shipment. Not sure how you lose a 200lb snow blower. At this point I'm done with HD and the store at Riverdale, NJ. Every time I go to the store the items that say in stock online are never on the shelf and you can't find anyone to help. If you want to know why Amazon is crushing your business, this is why! I will take my business elsewhere going forward. Update: Just got the call from HD. Initially they called and told me that they would bring a new mower and see about getting me a discount. Now they're saying they will give me 10% off of their crap product they delivered and aren't bringing me a new mower. Absolutely unbelievable at this point. Customer service rep tells me they leave the mowers outside and it's just a result of the elements. These people must live over at Earth 2. So your response is the customer should just take the product you decided to leave outdoors and get exposed to the elements? Really!! I just can't believe it! Worst customer service I've ever seen. Final update: I've attached more pictures of this supposed "new" lawn mower. This thing looks like a used lawn mower. Rust everywhere, scratches and dents in the paint, dirt all over the inside of the engine cover, and rust on the battery terminals under the seat. This thing was not just sitting outdoors. This was used by someone quite a bit. Now here's where it gets really good. My fiancé and I went to HD last night to ensure they were scheduled to pick this piece of crap up today as no confirmation emails have been received. And guess what! There's the same model mower on display outside in front of the store and it's almost in perfect condition except for a scratch. So I got the POS mower and they sold me a "used" more as new. Just take a look at the pics. Contacting my credit card company this morning as charge is pending and I want it blocked. Also, contacting Consumer Affairs and the Better Business Bureau. read more

We had to wait for a lumber associate sitting in the back of home depot after we were told he was coming in a few minutes we waited for at least over 40 minutes, after asking multiple times for customer assistance we waited another 10 minutes. it is beyond rude telling a customer that they'll be right there and making them wait an extra 20 minutes. read more

Placed an online order for curbside pick up. Said it was ready at 3:00. Went there after work, pulled into the curbside spot and went through the app to tell them I was there. After 15 minutes of no one showing up I went inside to the Customer Service desk. They paged a pick up person After 15 minutes of no one showing up they called to the back. 10 minutes later two employees came up asking the CS person about the order. I asked them if it was even picked. They said they didn't see it in the back and will take another look and then re-pick it. I cancelled the order in the app and asked for a manger and the employee I was talking to said he was the manager and apologized. I told him 40 minutes for curb side pick up with no pick up was not a good look. He apologized again. While waiting I saw no less then 10 employees milling about faces in their phones. This store is extremely short staffed. Nobody answers the phone. I ordered online yesterday morning for store pick-up and was assured it would be ready the same day. I called the morning after at 10am and was assured it would be expedited to be ready in "a couple of hours." 6 hrs later and a lady told me no one had pulled the 4 items I ordered out. If I'd have known, I would have just gone to the store to get the items myself instead of waste 2 days. I finally talked to the manager Bill who was very nice and had the order ready in 10min. Unfortunately, I went to the store and was told they can't bring it out curbside because they have no staff. Waited another 20min on the pickup line. read more

I doubt Home Depot needs my review as they are a famous and respected business. However, this store in Riverdale is huge and seems to have more to offer than a few others I have visited. We went with the truck to get mulch that they had for a crazy low priced sale. Supply, price and service are why you go to a big store and this one has all three. The garden department folks were exceptionally nice. We wanted 20 bags of mulch and someone came out to my truck and loaded most of the 40-50 pound bags for us. This was for a $40 order ! HOME DEPOT WINDOWS & DOOR PROJECTS For any of you searching for windows/ doors replacements to update your home, be for warned that using Home Depot Projects could be a big mistake and let me share my experience. In the interest of replacing my houses' 20+ year old vinyl replacements, I had entertained hearing previews from Renewal by Anderson, which are definitely the Cadillac of Windows and Doors, but comes with a very hefty price tag. (For those of you with enough money- they maybe the way to go). I followed that by a home presentation from a Windowrama salesman that presented with minimal effort or care and yet their prices seemed higher than one would expect. By the time I reached the 3rd presentation from a friendly Home Depot Window/Door salesman, their prices didn't seem so outrageous so I signed. Timing is everything! Should you want to cancel there is only a 3 day window and having the salesman on Friday later in the day, left me very little chance of cancellation. So I now shouldered a $29,000 Home Depot Project loan for an "open job" which stands incomplete going on six-months. Dealing with Home Depot is certainly a nightmare- lots of lip service with a series of contact phone numbers without the follow-up to phone calls left on their voicemail system. It's been an open job before Christmastime 2022. Drip- drip-drip-drip. The installation was shotty at best, and although they did return to fix some of their work, we are still waiting for a patio door that was ordered several times with the wrong opening, along with a damaged window and a window ordered wrong size. You may think having a wrong size window ordered is not a big deal, but when you consider that Home Depot installation people, and their salesman, totaling "3 different times" measured for these replacements it should have guaranteed it was done right. Not so! How can 3 people use the same measurements and screw up an order? As of today, almost 6 months in, we are still waiting for a status or completion update since not one person has responded to my numerous phone messages. Meanwhile like a good customer, I'm forced in paying my loan payments in good faith, along with hefty interest I might add. I am hoping that Home Depot will live up to their $29,000 contract with me, and complete my order and live up to their great sales pitch. So BUYER BEWARE- it's late for me but it may save YOU some big headaches. read more

Jeff from flooring is the MAN! I was going to say give this guy an extra day off, but that would be bad for customer service, you have him work as much as possible and give him a bonus! I came in looking to install some hardwood flooring that day and he knew everything about the floors he had, which ones were waterproof etc. He directed us to the best option for us, got the stock and calculated how much we needed, then brought us to the tool kit we needed. We could not fit all the flooring in the car at once so he set up a will call to pay for a reserve the supply so we got everything needed. Jeff, thank you. My local HD, very big store, but no tool rental. Always plenty of material and a lot of stuff in stock. They have a very big garden center with a great turn around in products. I've never had to ask any major questions, so not sure how much knowledge is in the building. Never had a bad customer service experience either. Thursday, I was heading to BJ Wholesale when I noticed it shared a parking lot with the Home Depot (second fav store ever). I am in the market for a small pool. I stopped in walked around, found pool supplies but no pools. Could not get acknowledged by an employee. Went to Customer Service where a rather rude blond women asked what I needed, asked if they carried pools, she looked at me like I was waisting her time and snarled no. I have never been in a Home Depot location this bad, leaving feeling not helped and like I inconvenienced the staff by asking if they had a product I was wanting to buy. The third party shipping company dropped my new refrigerator off the lift onto the road. A shelf broke and the three men tried to tell me that a light bulb broke. Placed my online order for pick up at 12 on a Monday, called the store around 5 (because I know they close early atm) to see if my order was ready yet. The lady on the phone told me they were running behind and it wouldn't be ready until tomorrow (with everything going on I understand, although they could've called to warn me it wouldn't be ready today, since it is SAME DAY PICK UP). I tried calling the store 6 TIMES Tuesday morning to let them know I would be having someone else pick up my order (since it wasn't done yesterday I was unable to pick it up). I purchased a GE Washing Machine, April, 2016 from Home Depot in Newton, NJ with their protection plan! GE & Home Depot have never been able to get this machine working properly. Finally November, 2017 Home Depot gave me back in the form of a Home Depot gift card most of what this machine cost me because they could not get the parts to fix the washing machine. I had to spend hours fighting with them to get this. Black Friday we went to Home Depot, Riverdale, NJ and used this credit to buy an LG washing machine and decided to buy a matching dryer. Delivery was to be today by 6/PM. Delivery company phoned 4 times to confirm the machine would be here. No one came and Home Depot has no clue as to when they could possibly deliver this order. So now they have my money since April, 2016 thanks to Home Depot's poor appliances and service and I have no working washing machine. read more

I'm usually fine on my own, know what I'm lookin for and grab and go. Biggest issue is customer service. They still do not know about departments they work in. They will help you locate items but asking about applications , might as well forget about it. A few have some knowledge but just brings store down. If your walking around doing nothing and there are people in isles. You should stop with can I help you?" What are you looking for" . This location is further for me to travel but stock wise may have more . Home depot is still not the favorite based on a lot of things, but people will always go. The customer service is abysmal. At around 8 pm, I went to the gardening center for some mulch. The type I needed was on a shelf which required a fork lift, so I went to the front and asked the employee there for assistance. He told me someone would be over shortly, and I returned to where the mulch was. After about fifteen minutes, I returned to the front to find that the gardening center's doors had been shut, and the employee was no longer there. So, I was not only not helped, but the employee had closed the gardening center without warning me! Horrible customer service, I'll never shop there again! read more

If I could go any lower than a 1-star, I would! I purchased a dishwasher at the beginning of July, in addition to an installation package. Initially, I waited a week for the dishwasher to be installed. When Home Depot's delivery company, Home Delivery America, came they told me that my plumbing wasn't up to code and they couldn't install the dishwasher. I paid a plumber to check the plumbing and he told me that everything is up to code and the shut off valve they were looking for was behind my old dishwasher. I called Home Delivery America to schedule the dishwasher to be delivered and installed for the 2nd time. Their rep told me I had to wait another week. Fast forward the week and I was told that the delivery would be between 3:30 - 7:30. They showed up at 9 PM! Worst experience trying to obtain a fair credit for time and energy wasted to obtain a product that I paid for. Would recommend anyone looking for an appliance strongly considers going to Lowes or Sears! read more

It really is as bad as the others say! My husband and I came to purchase some plants for our home and not 1 person in the whole garden center knew anything about plants. There were employees everywhere and no one knew anything about gardening in the GARDEN CENTER! It's almost like they are playing a game with you. You ask a question, they say "I don't know" and tell you to go ask the guy over there(pointing to another employee). When you get to the other employee he has no idea either and is busy doing who knows what and points to another employee across the center. EDUCATE YOUR EMPLOYEES for the are a they work. read more

While some of the comments about the knowledge of the help are correct and I think it is due to Home Depot and Lowes lowering the pay scale to less than what it was when they first came into this area and wanted staff that had experience in the different trades I disagree with the comments about the Veteran or Military discount. I have never been refused my discount at either store, Home Depot or Lowes, I have been behind someone who was refused because they did not have their military ID or their VA card. If that is why they were refused they only have themselves to blame! I always have my VA card out with my credit card as I am in line and not only do they give me the discount most all thank me for my service! read more

Beware of expecting the employees to actually do their job. On numerous occasions of visiting this location I've come to the conclusion that customer service is a foreign concept to all who wear the orange apron. When buying large things I've never been offered any sort of assistance from the employees and when checking out I'm sure to be met with a cashier who's got a nasty attitude. Thankfully the other shoppers are in the same boat and will help me if I can't carry something on my own, but it shouldn't even be necessary for the friendly customer to have to ask me if I need assistance because it's really the job of the three employees standing around talking to each other. And trust me, there is no shortage of available help. I'm not even sure what the workers do except walk around avoiding customers while those of us who need help struggle to catch them. Now, let's go back to the cashiers as well because I'm not sure what kind of training Home Depot puts you through to be a cashier, but more than once I've had to go back inside after checking my receipt because the cashier double charged me. I understand that I buy a lot of bulk items and maybe it's not easy to keep up but if they need to be stacked a certain way for you to ring me up correctly, maybe you should get off my ass for it and get on the workers who refused to help me. Once again, I check on line to see if something is in stock, before I drive there, only to find it isn't once I get there. This exercise has been repeated too many times. This time, metal fence posts for a chain link fence. Really? You have the corner posts, top rails, brackets, but how about stocking the ones you need about 10 times more of?
