I can't tell you it was worth the wait, but what could've been disastrous turned out to be an OK experience, and a wonderful one at the end, when the chandelier was lit up and was beautiful. I wrote a review on 1800lighting.com, but they removed it, so I'm leaving the review here. I ordered the Piemonte 12 Light Chandelier from this website in October 2023. The chandelier I received had several damaged and missing glass panels, so I asked for replacement panels. It's been over six months, and I still haven't received all the replacement panels. They kept denying the availability of replacement glass panels, even when this chandelier was shown as in stock and ready for delivery on their website. Strangely, they can ship new chandeliers but cannot offer replacement panels for the defective ones they sent me. I have an incomplete chandelier hanging over my dining table for six months, which I am pretty unhappy about. read more

Their prices are hard to beat. However, if anything goes wrong, you may be in for a ride. The checkout was busted for me - seems one of the items I was trying to purchase was bugged, so I couldn't complete my order. I did a bit of troubleshooting then tried the Live Chat feature for help. Live Chat support wasn't able to address the issue, so I emailed customer care with screenshots and details. No response within two days, so I followed up with additional troubleshooting info and confirmed it was still happening. Five days later and still no response. So I tried Live Chat again to find out what the holdup was. It said it was online, but nobody answered. Was in the queue for a while and then it was past their business hours and it said nobody available - try back another time. I'm now six days without a response from customer care. Tried Live Chat earlier this time - around 2:30pm. Waited a while in the queue then agent "C" joined... and... promptly left seconds later. So I tried Live Chat again, got through the queue, and mentioned to agent "B" that the previous agent ended the chat the second they connected - and "B", without replying, immediately forwarded me back to the agent that canceled the previous chat, where I sat in a queue for for 10 more minutes. "C" didn't answer - an agent "J" did. "J" tries the same approach that "B" did when I spoke to him on live chat a week prior. It, predictably, has the same result. "J" suddenly and unexpectedly transfers me to "C". It says the wait time is estimated at 12 seconds. Every two minutes I get a reminder the estimated wait is 12 seconds. This continues for TWENTY FIVE minutes... After 25 minutes, I am greeted by agent "A", who has no idea what's going on, and is unsure why "J" would transfer me to "C". It seems the system really want me to talk to "C", whom I've never chatted with, and "C" seems to really not want to talk to me. I don't blame him. I re-explain the situation to "A", who is apologetic, and he tries the same things as "J" and "B" with the same result; neither of us can complete the purchase. I go on hold while "A" investigates. "A" is unable to resolve the bug or locate the personnel who can fix it. Instead he takes my payment info and tries to order it through their internal system. This works, and he gives me my order# and his direct phone number in case I need help again. THANK YOU. Live Chat start: 2:48pm (if we ignore the first chat that "C" closed) Live Chat end: 4:50pm (if we ignore the followup where I let the manager know "A" was awesome) If it's this hard to make a purchase, imagine how hard it is to make a return if something goes wrong. read more

I purchased 2 fans which have remained in original container (opened only to check for breakage upon delivery.) I have since change color scheme in one room and decided to try to exchange one of the fans for a better match. I purchased about $3,000 worth of lightings from Ariela about a month ago. When the initial delivery was made, the lights had missing parts (2 glass covers, 7 light bulbs). I asked Ariela to deliver the missing parts, to which she responded fairly bearing all the responsibilities. I received a second package from Capitol Lighting about two weeks later, which included 2 broken light bulbs and 2 glass covers, one of which did not have a metal hinge. I, again, spoke to Ariela to get me all the parts. It has been a month since the purchase and I have yet to have properly functioning lightings. I just received an email from Ariela who is telling me call some one else in the office. The lack of professionalism by the sales rep as well as the staff members (if it was someone else other than Ariela that put together the packages) will keep me from ever going back to this store and I highly recommend any potential customers to never shop at this place. I visited on an evening with the need and firm resolve to walk out with a track lighting kit. No such luck. The items that I was interested in and are on the company's website are not in stock at the store and will take "about one week to arrive in the store", as the salesperson informed me. She also told she knew nothing about track lighting and that "there is no one else to help you since I am the only salesperson here tonight" Notwithstanding her professed ignorance, she freely offered advice that a certain track lighting head was "no good, because it is too cheap", at $25. I walked out of the store in a mood appropriate for the occasion. Later the same evening I bought some track lighting from Home Depot that works just fine (at $9.95 per head). The experience with the salespeople was equally unpleasant. What I truly cannot understand is how businesses like Capitol Lighting (and Home Depot, for that matter) stay in business, given the competition of Amazon's free shipping, Prime free two-day shipping and seamless customer support. read more

I searched for 9 months for a dining room chandelier and had no luck. Then I went to Capital Lighting on Rt.17. Was amazed with the selection as soon as I walked in. One beautiful chandelier after the next. As I walked through I saw my Schonbek and loved it. Ariela came up and introduced herself. She was attentive and let me know that she was there when I needed her. I pointed of my chandelier and a few others as well. She took the time to go over pictures of my dining room and used her expertise to guide me to the right chandelier, not the most expensive one. I was fortunate to get mine on close out and got an amazing deal. The other 2 that I was looking at were twice as much, and even though the were beautiful, she recommended mine because it went best with our dining room furniture. I then showed my decorator and she was ecstatic! Loved the chandelier and was blown away at the price. Ariela also made sure that delivery and installation were by that Friday because we were having an engagement party on Saturday. I am extremely pleased with our Schonbek, Capital Lighting and Ariela! Avoid the Vultures This is a mixed review. Several months ago I had a great experience working with sales person Mary Ann. Mary Ann was awesome. Knew all the brands, fixtures and went out of her way to make an overwhelming process easy. As a result of her product knowledge she made some great recommendations that were a perfect fit (and within budget!). She was quick to respond and worked in person, via phone and via email all exceedingly well. She was really passionate about lighting and asked great questions about the spaces I needed to light. I ended up purchasing 6 fixtures from her. Day of install the electrician notices one is damaged and can't be installed as is. I contact Mary Ann and she quickly re-orders another fixtures and apologizes profusely. A couple weeks go by and the replacement fixture has now arrived in Paramus. I arrive to do the exchange and expect to see Mary Ann. I'm advised Mary Ann is no longer there as a result of new management. Management has been replacing some of the previous sales staff with friends (total turnover of sales staff going on). I process the exchange and before driving 45+ minutes, ask to check the new fixture (I notice the box has not been opened - i.e. not checked). Sure enough the new fixture has the exact same defect. And no one checked. Zero quality control especially on a replacement piece. I've now driven 90 minutes round trip for nothing. This is something that never would have happened with Mary Ann there. She would have personally checked the replacement piece. This is the type of staffer you let go? As a result of second damaged piece I'm scrambling to find an alternative before electrician has to again return due to Capitol (I'm incurring a second service fee for the unnecessary electrician visit). Overall I feel really lucky to have worked with Mary Ann but the sales team now is just vultures swarming around new customers. During my wait I asked one of the other sales people (Marilyn) a basic question about a fixture. She knew nothing. "Oh, speak with service. But they are not here now". It's Saturday. No one in service? She wasn't helpful at all. Feeling on the floor was - today she was selling lighting - yesterday mattresses, and tomorrow furniture. Limited industry/lighting knowledge. Sadly Capitol is now an avoid. read more

She then proceeded to help others and was unable to get a price on one of chandeliers we had chosen. We are doing an entire house. After an hour, we left and the next day went to the Capital LIghting on Rt. 10 where Dave Angelo was the complete opposite....bent over backward to help us and he got the $10,000 order. My family and I were just there on Saturday. "Salesmen" and I use that term loosely, were non-existant. The 2 I saw were wandering around aimlessly. One said he would be "right back", went to his desk to shuffle papers, looked depressed, and went on to talk to someone else. We took it upon ourselves to take a picture of what we wanted, went right up to customer service and told her what we wanted. The lady at checkout is awesome.
