We were looking for a particular flush mount light to match others we have. We went to isle 38 that is marked for flush mount lifgts. Couldn't find it so I looked for an associate. No where to be found. I called the phone number to ask for help on isle 38. Finally I walked to the front to ask at the front desk. Only 2 people working and there was a long line. I was on the phone greeting hold for 4.5 minutes by now. I went to the paint counter and the very nice gentleman helped me. This was Sunday, a little after 6pm. I went back to isle 38. Then I went around the corner to the front of isle 39. I saw some flush mounts, but not what we needed. My husband left isle 38 and entered isle 39 from the back. He found them. Ugh! 1. No help in the isles 2. On hold for 4.5 minutes 3. Flush mounts at 3 different places. 4. Not on the isle marked "flush mounts" 5. Never saw an associate!!!!! Meh- Home Depot. This one is pretty close to every other Home Depot I've ever been to. It seems a little smaller than the regular Home Depot. They've condensed the seasonal area and have a lot less plumbing fixtures than other Home Depots that I've been to. It seems that depending on the neighborhood, HD will change up their inventory. They had their inventory clearly displayed, and we could go through and 'kick the tires' of new plumbing parts. They did have the items I was looking for, in a variety of options, which was nice. Nobody was around to help, but that's okay, I suppose. The store was clean, and the check out time was speedy with the self-checkers. I always miss dealing with a person though, and feel bad about self-checking out. Parking was fairly easy, with a dedicated lot right of 281 & Bitters. I've always been a Lowe's girl, I usually only venture into Home Depot when they have something that I can't find at Lowe's. That's what brought me to the Bitters Home Depot on Tuesday May 24th, they had something I couldn't get anywhere else. I needed Rust-oleum Home Floor Coating and I needed it tinted to Seattle Mist. I couldn't find it anywhere on the shelf of the paint dept. and just when I was about to go looking for help, help arrived by the name of Sam. I told him what I wanted and he began the hunt. Turns out they were up on a high shelf with the extra stock, so Sam went to get a ladder and got a light base and a deep base down since we didn't know which one was needed. Then the real fun began. Poor Sam. I told him the color choice and he went to the computer and nope-wrong base, but it wasn't the wrong base. Tried again with the deep base and nope-wrong base again. Sam tried everything, all while never once losing his patience with me and all my questions. He was exceedingly kind, knowledgeable and understanding, and he never gave up. In the end, he got me my Seattle Mist floor paint and he thanked ME for my patience. I am so grateful to have had Sam to work with on this because truly, HE was the patient one, no lie I asked about 142 questions. I think from now on all my future paint needs are going to be met here at the Bitters location just so I can work with Sam again! Also, I can't forget about Ron who also helped me with mixing a trim color while I was waiting for Sam to work his magic. I've been coming here for almost 11 years. Only 3 times EVER I was asked, if I needed assistance by the staff. I even tested this "theory" by standing in a group of non-Hispanics and waited to see who got help from these employees. Now there are two employees who do go above and beyond. I always forget names, but one is male, blond wavy hair who is always super nice and very knowledgeable. The other is a lady who is always "go go go" I've seen here help three people at the same time. Both of these cats are cool in my book and that's why 3 stars. But everyone else who work here sucks. Especially the narcissists who are at the returns/exchanges counter they got a sticks up their butt acting like they are superior just because they have a vest on. Home improvement... Store improvement. Garden department in desperate need of a good cleaning out. This location still has Christmas trees... however they are pretty rough. There are no Poinsettias left here though. Their cactus and succulent selection was good. The Color plants here needed some cleaning out... plants that were past their prime and need to be tossed. Same for tropicals and shrubs too. Great location... right in a great shopping area. However for the garden area they need to spend some time keeping up appearances. Their garden gate was open... the cashier was very nice and attentive and the employees in the store were great too! Bathrooms were clean... a big plus! If I had an option for 0 stars I would. This customer service is the biggest joke I have ever seen. They came and installed a fridge at my house which leaked into my garage thus causing water damage to my house, I paid for a plumber to confirm that. They also gave me a defective fridge with a busted water hose. I have waited over a month and a half for this to get fixed and resolved. This is the biggest bunch of bullshit that could have been avoided if your movers installed it correctly and paid attention to detail. Their response to this is to blame it on my plumbing and pass the blame on Whirlpool. Do better and take care of your customers. I will never come in for as much as a light bulb. read more

I ordered a GE range and microwave online from Home Depot. Very nice products. The problem was not with the products but Home Depot's service. And please Home Depot don't blame it on the contractors. They are who you hire and they reflect on you! You are also the ones I paid. Here are the problems I encountered: 1) On day one of delivery, the crew would not install/level the range and instead directed me to GE for this service. They also advised I purchase gap fillers since there were noticeable gaps between both sides of the range and countertops. It took several days to get an appointment. 2) When the GE service person arrived, he explained that he couldn't level the range because it wasn't his job and didn't have the appropriate tools. He explained that this is always the responsibility of the Home Depot delivery crew. 3) Back to the Home Depot to arrange for yet another appointment. When the crew arrived, the stove was leveled but advised that because we hadn't received the gap fillers yet, to make another appointment to adjust height. So far, the only reasonable thing we heard. 4) When the gap fillers arrived I made another appointment. When the day finally came, I received a call from the driver stating that he couldn't find our home. Long story short, they were given the wrong address and told me they wouldn't be coming because they were 45 minutes away. Spoke to several people about this concern to no avail. 5) I made yet another appointment. This time, the delivery crew came to adjust the range and they placed the gap fillers around the range. I thought it was OK but the minute they walked out the door, my husband noticed that one of the fillers was not positioned well. I ran out immediately and waved the truck down and it's a toss up whether they saw me or not They drove right past me so I called the driver immediately. He said he was on his way to another job but would be a while to return. Another long story short, he left us hanging with not a single courtesy call or text. 6) After speaking to several people about the previous incident, one supervisor of a local Home Depot decided to send out an employee to help and bypass the delivery service. This was not in his job description but agreed to help. He was very thorough and did a good job. He also spotted the mistake in installation and fixed it. I tipped him well. I'm still very disappointed with Home Depot. Despite all the frustration, the number of attempts to get this done and the time I had to take off my job to be available, they did not at any time offer any compensation. Going forward, I'd rather go to Lowe's or Best Buy for better service and consideration of the customer. read more

During this time when stores have lines around the block I thought ordering online was a safe alternative and now I am out of 300$ for a package with whatever delivery service they went through because the geniuses thought it was a good idea to leave it on the porch in plain view of the entire neighborhood and it was stolen after they delivered it at 7pm (????!!!) no knock on the door, no package signing, no nothing. Decade worth of online ordering and only twice has a package been stolen before but it was through Amazon shipping and the matter was resolved in seconds via online chat. We started looking at doors over 4 weeks ago did our first sit down on prices and agreed to have dimensions verified and we talked price total both doors $1200- 1400 tops Well today when wife goes price is over $2500 they say price on display is wrong and is higher now than what is marked? BAIT AND SWITCH...customer beware. Unacceptable customer experience today at this Home Depot. Needed to return a 2-light vanity due to purchased light was antique nickel finish. Did not match the in-store display in bronze finish. The in-store displayed price in this Home Depot for the bronze finished item was $74.97. When the Home Depot customer service staff attempted to assist us with completing an online Home Depot order for the same 2-light vanity in a bronze finish, the purchase price almost doubled from the in-store price. The explanation for the price difference was that the bronze finish was more expensive. The in-store displayed lower price was actually for the antique nickel finish. Home Depot would not sell me the displayed item priced at $74.97. So, got "baited" to purchase this item at the displayed lower price, and then "almost switched" to a higher price item. read more

We normally use this Home Depot due to its proximity. We rented a gas pressure washer from them for a day--$85. Finally get it and the husband says they didn't say anything about how to operate it. Fine, the instructions are on it written out and YouTube is a resource, so we take 30 minutes to do our research and read the directions to get it to work. So right off the bat, I notice that we're supposed to have 3 nozzles and one of them is missing. It was a bit frustrating because the one that was missing was the red high pressure nozzle and that one is useful for concrete. Okay I'll just make due with the yellow one. We start it up and have the throttle all the way up but the engine is still running too slowly for it to stay on when using the washer. Not to mention the water pressure was way too low. So we checked all our lines and connections along with the fuel tank (full) then we go to check the oil, and there was no oil in it. They gave us a washer with no oil. Awesome. So husband goes to Ace to pick up washer oil and we put some in it, and start it back up again. Still nothing. At this point our baby was about to finish her nap and we've wasted all this time troubleshooting and getting things to get this stupid thing to work and we're both fed up for the day, so we decide to just return it and get our money back. Well of course, when you go tell a bunch of "handy" guys that their product they handed you doesn't work, (thereby proving that they didn't even bother to check it themselves) they have to try and get it to work right in front of you to prove you wrong and keep your money while making you feel like a derp. Now, I'm all for my husband getting a taste of his own medicine and having a few men mansplain to him how to get a power-squirter to squirt powerfully, however, we've already wasted sooo much time already and it shouldn't be any skin off their nose just to give us a refund and we can all move on with our lives. They finagle with this thing for ten more minutes before my husband convinces them to let him have our money back and they finally let him leave. Moral of the story: before leaving with a rental, have them make it work right in front of you, and have them explain what they're doing while showing you that it ACTUALLY works. And get the big intimidating person in your life to ask for refunds when you need it I guess. read more

He found the light switch I needed and even helped me identify the wires since they were in different locations from the original switch. Needless to say I had no issues replacing the switch and it's working correctly. He even gave my 3 year old February's kids workshop project that made him so happy. What a disappointment! We spent over an hour in the store for our deck project supplies and had accumulated several hundreds of dollars worth of necessary items in our cart. Yet, when reaching the cashier line, we were told all card machines were down and they only accepted cash. No announcements were made nor signs posted to inform us of their computer issues. My husband and I suggested we go next door to an ATM machine to retrieve cash from our checking account. The cashier promised to hold our cart and keep it for us. We were gone literally 5 minutes- yet, when the same cashier saw us return, she informed us our cart had been taken back and all items returned.. Seriously?? Giving a big shoutout to THOMAS at the Home Depot off of Bitters in SA. This guy, super helpful, super polite. It was almost closing time but that didn't keep him from going the extra mile and searching for the Brad nailer we needed. Pulled out the giant ladder and even though it wasn't found up top, he kept on searching and searching. We were about to take off and he comes around the corner with the one we had been searching for, he located one on a end cap and walked it to us. Definitely a "aim to please" employee. We live an hour away (where there is no Home Depot) so it was awesome to not have to drive back up again to shop. I like to come to Home Depot to browse around and talk to the employees to get ideas here. They are very helpful and haven't failed me yet. What I don't particularly like about this location is the ingress and egress areas to the parking lot. The most used one comes out on the side to a (private) road which butts up next to the T intersection of Bitters. But to get there, you have to cross through the "Pro" area of the parking lot, where lots of contractors are loading up their vans and trucks. Lots of speed bumps and foot traffic, not that I'm in a hurry. The only other good parking lot entrance is at the back by the office building, but you still must come in from the street that runs along Olive Garden and the bank. Selection wise - They have everything I am usually looking for. If not, it can be ordered online and shipped to any of the HD stores I am nearby. Have used their paint department personnel many times, and they are knowledgable and helpful. They tend to get busy at times, so it can be a drag to wait for help. It's usually manned by 1 person. Rarely have I seen two. This store isn't as bad on the inside as it is to me on the outside. There just seems to be a lot of handicap spaces all up in the front. And as I mentioned earlier, the most common ingress and egress requires you to go over speed bumps and traverse through the contractors loading area of the parking lot. I wish they had put the contractors area on the other side of the store. read more

1 star for Babette and 2 stars for overall experience with renting a truck. Unfortunately I do not remember the male employees name, but he was good. We left the parking lot with 3/4 tank of gas(because the surcharge was 6.50 per gallon I sided with caution and fully filled the tank), while the paper said it was full and we needed to refill to full. This particular home depot/Babette started the time as soon as we expressed interest in the rental however we did not end up leaving the store until 5 minutes after whatever admin and deposit stuffs occurred. We went back into the store since there was a warning light indicating a possible leak or inadequately inflated tire. When we told Babette this, she got on the phone(we were still on the clock for this). She then told us Home Depot was already aware of this issue and to just go with it. We asked if time could be allowed to account for the time passed and she said no, and was rude and dismissive. Frustrating experience. read more

They have a great no hassle return policy, and do offer some good advice to help you finish your jobs right. After waiting in the line to get paint for over 30 minutes, the woman who helped me was rude and short and unhelpful. I told her I needed an exact color match, with the exact finish of the sample I brought in. When I finally got my sample, she slammed the paint can down in front of me and walked away from the area taking off her apron before I could tell her the paint she gave me was 3 shades lighter than I needed and the wrong finish as well. Everyone else she helped in line ahead of me was treated the exact same way, with the same looks of confusion as to why her attitude was so aggressive and short tempered. read more

Sunday, November 15th: So I'm standing in line and notice the customer in front of me become agitated when Linda asked him to remove a three foot tall tool chest from his shopping cart and open it. Understandable store policy to stop theft, right? This guy (lets call him J**k A*s, or JA) tells Linda to do it herself (she is disabled and walks with a cane). Linda, very nicely and professionally, tells JA that she doesn't have the ability to do that. JA looked more than able to do it himself. He should have put the tool chest on a dolly, instead of in a shopping cart, anyway. JA does as requested while saying "I'm not a thief " and repeatedly telling Linda she needs to get another job. Linda calmly apologizes, repeatedly, for her disability and even helps JA figure out how to use his credit card. Yes, I couldn't take it anymore and stepped in. Linda didn't need my help though. She is an HD Pro! Oh, and she also looked in the box containing the toilet my girlfriend and I were buying :) read more

I went to HomeDepot on June 1, 2016 asked if I could return a carpet I bought there. I show them my invoice. Margie asked Alex and he said yes and that I could bring the carpet the next day. Well, it rained. So on June 3, 2016, I had a friend named Jose pick up my carpet with his truck and we unloaded in the front entrance. I paid him and I stayed in the store at 8:00 pm. There are other employees working and ask Jesus Ramos. He comes and state that the carpet is cut and can't be returned. I explained that I was told that I could return the carpet. He is very rude to me and tell me to read the fine print before signing. I tell him that I can't take the carpet in my car. He stated that they are not responsible for the carpet. I asked for a Store manager and no one is available. I call the HomeDepot on Alamo Heights and tell the manager was is occurring. He states that he will call me back. I haven't eaten and waiting and waiting. He calls Carlos and he states that there is no guarantee that I'll get my money back. Leave the carpet there and they would put it away for me and come back tomorrow. It is now 9:45 pm. I'm driving home and Margie call me that they will give me store credit. I drive back to HomeDepot and meet Cesar and Margie waiting for me. I get all my money back on my debit card. ALL SALES FINAL!?! I bought a pallet of the life proof vinyl plank flooring. I have about 15 boxes too many, and thought I would keep some for future need, but determined I could return 5. I went to the store, and even though these very boxes are sold on the flooring isle, I was told you cannot return this because it is special order only. Mind you this is the second time I have been to the store to return these boxes. The first time I couldn't find my receipt, and they said my return was suspicious and refused it (nothing about a "special order"). I asked the lady to look it up in her system since I bought it online, and she refused, saying she was, "too busy." I returned the next day to have someone look up the transaction and they did. They said bring the stuff back and go ahead with the return, again, nothing about a "special order". So I bring it in and all they can say is "No, it's a special order." After asking the lady why it matters, special order or not, if they still sale the very item in store, she could not provide an answer, only to reiterate, "it's a special order." I have spent an insane amount of money at Home Depot renovating two homes, I guess I felt they would have treated me better. Very poor customer service Home Depot! I purchased a 5 gallon bucket of paint few weeks back and have been making multiple trips to come have it reshaken between weekends. Today I was told they they would not provide that service because the seal has been broken. I have had it done multiple time already and did not quite understand. The associate at the counter was on a powertrip with telling that he would not put my 5gallon bucket of paint in the machine. I spoke with customer service who was very helpful in trying to it himself only to be turned down but the associate behind the paint counter. The manager on duty was no help at all as it seemed he did not want to deal with his associate behind the paint counter. He did not want to manage the situation and provided no answers as to why other associates had no problems preforming a service that is offered and done prior. Very poor service read more

I purchased a Samsung washer and dryer from Home Depot on 6/12/2022 with a delivery date of 6/29/2022. Unfortunately, the sales associate put my address in incorrectly. I went into the store TWICE to ensure my address was corrected. I was assured that everything was good to go and that I would get a call the day before to solidify a time frame. At that time I could verify the correct address. I received an email on 6/26/2022 stating that I would get a call and an email the day before my deliver. I got neither. I called the morning of deliver, 6/29/2022 only to find out that I'd been removed from the schedule because the driver couldn't not verify my address in his GPS. If I'd gotten a call as promised I'm store and via email the confusion with the address could have been corrected BEFORE I was removed from the schedule. I spent the entire rest of the day on the phone and In-store and was finally able to get rescheduled to 7/1/2022. It is now the delivery date and AGAIN, I did not receive a call regarding my delivery time frame. I called the Home Depot.com number and was given the time frame of 4pm to 7pm. I've made myself available ALL DAY and haven't received a phone call nor have I received my product. It is now 8:45 pm and I still have not received my product nor a phone call regarding this discrepancy/inconvenience! No one has been communicating with me nor able to give me a status of where my product is. At this point I am beyond upset. This is the worse customer service ever. Where is my product? I have stopped by multiple times to get flooring samples and they were out, even though being told repeatedly on the phone they were in stock.
