FPO has a project that needs 1" pine dowels. No one Home Depot location had enough stock and apparently inventory transfers don't exist anymore. So, we've been to two HD in two days, three times, Miriam once and Shawnee twice. We came to Shawnee to pick up nine pieces last night. Came back again today because the HD POS system is wonky and assigned the same sku to different products so they sold the wrong type of wood. Talking with a lumber employee, he tried to help but had to call his manager. Her reaction was, the inventory is mainly managed by the vendors, it could be different stock based on area, and a couple other excuses that I eventually tuned out. The end result was,"Sorry, we don't have what you're looking for." The end. Now we're on our way to another Home Depot that may or may not have what we're looking for. Why drive to find out? Because dealing with Home Depot on the phone causes worse aggravation than a field trip to Olathe. read more

Overall I get good service here, but especially in the paint department and have to give a shout out to Scott. if you want to make sure your color is right, or you are trying to match something, go see Scott. (1st review of 2021) This review is for the online ordering & curbside pick up. First of all, you definitely need to remember to check that all the items are from the same store. I almost forgot to look & almost placed the order w/ more than 1 store & a few ship to home stuff. That would've put a kink in my project & it woulda taken me outta the way for the 2 different stores. Ordering online does have benefits cause I don't need to go into the store especially during the pandemic. There are some items that aren't stocked at some stores. I guess that it depends on demand & if the purchaser for that store deems it cost effective to stock it there. I did find several items I wanted wasn't stocked at the Shawnee store, but they did have a good substitutes that was in stock. They have secured check out on their website or you can pay thru PayPal. I like to pay thru PayPal since they deal with any issues you have with a purchase. After the purchase is made & you select curbside pick up, they send you an email confirmation of the order. Once they pulled your order they send another email confirming what items have been pulled & that they're ready for pick up. I went to the designated area for curbside pick up & by using the app I checked in informing them I'm here, which stall # I'm in, the style of car (sedan, truck, etc.), and color of car. It takes a little while (this time was about 10 mins) for them to bring out my order. The guy was polite & helped me load my stuff in my car. Pretty easy & less stress than going into the store & roaming around lookin for the stuff you need. This online shopping & curbside pick up helps a lot if you know what you want & don't want to waste time going into the store. Gotta try it out & lemmie know. A Hui Hou!! read more

I usually focus on positive reviews and understand at times a negative experience will result of which i rarely write on. Went to Home Depot Sat & Sun (06/13 & 06/14) to purchase some window shades for their 30% off sale. Not having 'shade' experience, needed to discuss options with an associate. That is where my 2 stars come into play. Both days an associate asked if we needed assistance for which we stated 'Yes'. an announcement for assistance was given twice on Sat and three times on Sunday for which nobody arrived to assist. I am guessing going during the week would be a better option for assistance, but wanted to maybe alert the store Manager of their lack of customer service. read more

It's Home Depot... If you've been to one, you've been to them all. This one is everything you expect it to be. If you've never been, well, they are going to have pretty much everything that you need. Lumber and building supplies, everything you need for home improvement, appliances, outdoor furniture & landscaping... All of it. Typically the prices of items are at the very least competitive if not as low as you will find. I'd say this is definitely the case with plants, etc from landscaping. Way cheaper than local nurseries (I love to support the local nurseries, but these prices are just SO good in comparison... Definitely less selection though, so there is that). They've got all your tools, paint, etc etc so on and so on. Basically anything you would need that isn't insanely specialized will be there. Finding it might be the most difficult thing but you can usually flag down an employee and they all seem to have a pretty good idea of where things are and can direct you where you need to go. In a battle of big box home improvement stores, Home Depot is JUST a touch lower quality than Menards (but Menards is run by a terrible owner who hates the environment, among other things, so there is that - also, none around KC to shop at anyway) but a rung higher in quality than Lowe's. All fairly indistinguishable but if you've spent some amount of time in each, you'd probably see the differences and agree. This location is easy to get to if you are in the western suburbs area (would be a drive from most anywhere else though). The store is large, has a nice outdoor/plant area. The store is sort of in it's own little area so traffic is nothing to concern yourself with and there is tons of parking. read more

Bought a terrible door handle that was defective and then the replacement was also defective. The manager coop though was phenomenal. He apologized and replaced the handle then made sure to say he would take it to supply chain and make sure it won't be an issue going forward. Perfect thing for the manager to do. read more

I am so frustrated with my latest purchase experience. I ordered a sliding screen patio door back in January and have had two appointments so far and each time the incorrect door option was ordered. Now I have to wait til May for the correct door to be ordered, meanwhile I'm already making payments on this. I have taken 2 days off work, and now have to take a third because of order errors issued by the home depot employee's. I'm so done with this, and have asked for compensation....if I don't get it I will cancel the whole order. The associate didn't seem to empathetic to my situation and was actually laughing at how many times they have made an error on my order! Disappointed! read more

This Home Depot is ok. They are great to buy lumber or if you know what you want and where it is great. If you need help good luck finding anyone. Every time I go to this one I have to find someone to help me find what I need and that takes at least 15 minutes. We rented an insulation blower and bought insulation and then found out we didn't need it. I called 10 mins after we left and asked if we could bring it back and get a refund, the guy I talked to said sure no problem. When we got back a new person was on duty and would not refund it. I have to give that person the name of the other person we talked to and he called his cell to verify he told us we could get a refund. Just annoying. Otherwise great selection of lumber and fittings and I would recommend them for lumber over anyone, they just need some help in the customer service department. read more

They really do a great job here, especially the paint department. Home Depot was extremely helpful and friendly, giving me the opportunity to find the perfect paint for our new home. We also rented a truck and the customer service guy was efficient, knowledgeable, and also was very nice to remind me to top it off so I would not get charged a large amount per gallon. The staff is always super helpful and approach on their own to make sure you are finding what you need. They are also incredibly knowledgeable about their products. Home Depot is terrible at customer service on major purchases requiring installation! DO NOT EVER buy window blinds from Home Depot! We were assured that our blinds would be installed within 3 weeks, in time for Christmas. They sent the wrong blinds, twice! Then, the installer they sent said that he only hangs the blinds; he doesn't know how to install the automatic motor or program. The store changed managers in the middle of this debacle. After going round and round, it was May (yes 6 months later) that the installer finally got them up and programmed, with my husbands help. NOW, we just had carpet installed after we decided we wanted a berber-like carpet in the great room. The sales woman told us we HAD to buy pad also because ours would be worn out. My husband told her the pad we had would not be worn but she said it would. When the installers ripped up the carpet, the pad wasn't worn at all. Home Depot wouldn't install new carpet over the existing pad. THIS IS HOW THEY UP SELL and get more money from you. When I called to complain, the manager Doug explained to me that the warranty wouldn't be good if they didn't put in a new pad. I offered to sign away rights to their liability if I could use my old pad. He said they couldn't. The next day, the ass. mgr Grant called me. I told him there was no point in talking since Doug told me they couldn't do anything and even though I understood, I didn't like it. Then Grant proceeded to tell me TWICE about the warranty. When I said I understood but didnt agree with it, he repeated all the warranty info again and said that Nebraska Furniture Mart wouldn't install over an existing carpet either. When I asked him to please quit treating me like an idiot, he hung up on me. By calling, he was just wanting to set me up to assert that they are right and I am wrong. I prefer Ace hardware, but was very close to Home Depot so I decided to just go there - I only needed one thing anyway (a chain guard lock), and I figured it wouldn't take very long. I was wrong. Anyway, I couldn't find the chain guard lock and so I asked for help. I was redirected to the aisle I had already looked at, so the young male employee helped me. He began to ask questions. First he asked, "what made you decide to put a lock on your door?". So I can feel an extra sense of security? He kept prying about my life, and this was no longer small talk and it made me uncomfortable. He asked about my career (which happens to be male dominated), to which he replied "I've never heard of a woman doing that". Still, we couldn't find the chain guard, and went to another aisle. THEN he asks again about why I would want to put a lock on my door. I explain that I live in the city, not the suburbs and would like an extra lock because the exterior basement door on my duplex isn't the most solid. He then begins to interrogate me on why I don't live in the suburbs - I started to feel uneasy and no longer wanted to engage in any small talk but he kept prying. As this went on, he finally came to the conclusion that the chain guard lock was only available online. THEN, after all of this he called me "hon". Pretty sure he was younger than me. The customer service desk took my contact information and held onto the filter until I returned. When I came back to finish my return they did not have the water filter or any information and would not credit me back the money. I have been a customer at hundreds of different Home Depot's all over the country for over twenty years. I work in the construction industry, so me and Home Depot meet regularly each and every week. I arrived at your Shawnee Kansas location (15501 W 67th St), in need of help with a personal home issue. I had just purchased a new washer and dryer. When I went to hook my connection up, my water valve connected to my home broke in my hand. I immediately jumped in my truck after shutting the main water line down. When I arrived at Home Depot, I started to pace up and down the plumbing aisle, not really knowing what I was looking for. Just when I was thinking I needed some expertise, Bill arrived. I explained my story and showed Bill pictures. Without hesitation, Bill grabbed a few items off the shelve and explained to me what to do to fix my issue. I was amazed at the customer service I received from him. He truly cared about helping me. After grabbing some concrete screws, I headed to pay with the cashier. As I was reaching for my wallet, Bill arrived again to inform he would be at the store until 10:00pm. He told me "feel free to call me if you have any concerns or questions". I tried to call Bill when I had completed the task just as he had explained to do it, but the store was closed. I am extremely thankful I came across Bill the plumbers path tonight. He was the most helpful individual I have ever encountered at a Home Depot and I have met a ton of Home Depot employees. It is clear Bill truly enjoys what he is doing. Thank you sir. We ordered a Pella door and storm door from Home Depot. The Millwork department was very patient in providing quotes in quite a few different ways while we decided what was best for our budget and requirements. When the doors finally arrived we installed the doors but the storm doors did not fit. Mitch worked tirelessly with both us and Pella to determine what we needed to correct the situation and make it happen. The whole thing was a real mess but Mitch continued to work through it. The other associates in the Millwork were also very supportive in the ongoing cummunication and the store went out of it's way to make it right. I highly recommend this location's Millwork department. read more

This is the most convenient location for me, but I shop at the competitor near it also. It really depends on which side of Shawnee Mission Pkwy that I'm on. Everything pretty much mirrors the other. Their both a typical big box store. I do prefer the Merriam location. It seems easier to find someone for help if they haven't asked you already. I also like Merriam's rental department. read more

I purchased a refrigerator from Samsung thru Home Depot. After waiting 5 days past the original promised delivery date, The fridge was too big and didn't fit the space. I had given Home Depot all the dims but they still advised me to buy a fridge that didn't fit. I reordered and the 2nd fridge delivered 4 days after the promised delivery date. It arrived with a big scratch on the side. The tech didn't hook up the water or ice maker, which I didn't notice until after he left because of the scratch. I've been fighting with Samsung for a week to get someone out to see if the problem can be fixed or if I need a new fridge. Samsung wouldn't let Home Depot send anyone because it had to be their certified rep. When I call Samsung I have to tell the same story every time I call in. I took off a 1/2 day of work to wait for their tech only to find out that Samsung had changed the appt time to the next day. This has been a miserable experience, compounded by Samsung's TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Do not buy a Samusung appliance, and if you do don't buy thru Home Depot. Neither seems to take responsibility - Home Depot passes me off to Samsung and Samsung blames their delivery or service techs. read more
