Went here to return some sadly wilted rhododendrons. The return process was simple and didn't take long. I went out to the lot to find replacement rhododendrons, but all they had with buds were red ones! I didn't want red. I wanted pink. They did have several different sizes, from smallish to quite large, but mostly red. They did have some Dandy Man plants in deep pink, already blooming, so I got those. They'll be on schedule next year. The garden center cashier was efficient. I found some pink geraniums in small pots on sale, and some lilies in 6-packs. Yay!! I was on my fourth trip at about 10 o'clock today of buying 40 bags of black mulch for my mother's house. I was almost loaded up. I had about 35 bags on my trailer when some guy just walked up to me and asked me if I had a receipt For the mulch. I ignored them at first and then said yes, so he persisted to stand there and I asked him why he was standing there. He then asked he wanted to see the receipt. I further ignored him. He was in just regular street clothes. Could've been anybody falling out of the sky so as I continue to load. He stated he was the manager I said well how am I supposed to know that you don't have any name tag on you didn't identify yourself as the manager and that you needed to see the receipt. I then told him if you are in fact, the manager, maybe you should do your job and get somebody to help me load this rather than accuse me of basically stealing by asking me for a receipt and not even identifying yourself I was literally laughing in his face. Another employee came walking over and I laughed at him and said oh what this is your muscle like he was gonna protect him or something or help him witness whatever whatever he was doing. So even he left and said that he's not the muscle and he didn't even look like the muscle, but he didn't even come to offer to help me load up my trailer. Then I basically told him to fuck off, and I told him everything is being recorded on my rear dash cam from my jeep that I had pull my trailer so he never identified him. He never showed me any kind of identification that he was the manager of Home Depot. I asked him for his full name. He only gave me his name is James so I'm calling him James the jerk off so now I'm gonna call corporate Home Depot and complain about them and I'm gonna call my lawyer to see about a lawsuit this Home Depot and all Home Depot seem to be a new resting place for welfare cases that don't wanna work have no job skills whatsoever. This guy is a manager and he had no people skills whatsoever. He was very accusatory, even though he never denims fight himself as any kind of loss prevention agent or an employee of Home Depot. Was here today at the Shirley store to pick up 6 various items that fit in my shopping cart. As I got on a short line at self checkout, I had Mary ask me if she could help with scanning so I said sure. By the time she was done I had my card ready to swipe and was on my way in no time. I noticed she was doing that with other customers which showed she cared enough about helping move the line and not just watching like you see in other stores. I frequent Home Depot a lot with my boyfriend. He loves tools and all things that revolve around tools. We came to this location because they had a table saw in stock that he has been wanting. We went down the saw aisle and it wasn't there. We asked for help and a lovely woman named Maria helped us. She knew exactly what saw we were talking about and knew exactly where it was located. It took me two yrs. To get a very exspensive out door table and swivel chairs delivered. I paid delivery. The store was blaming the manufacturer and the manufacturer was blaming the store. I had no way to get it myself. They thought it was a big game they then delivered a set with 3 chairs missing. The driver would not take the set back. And took off. I love the employees at this location! They're friendly and understanding. I bought a new grill from the riverhead location and when I opened it up at home it was filthy, rusty, and extremely worn. I called the Shirley location and explained this to them and they told me I could come in and exchange it no problem. Once I got there, the employees were super friendly and welcoming, and they were genuinely shocked that the riverhead store had sold me this grill. I initially felt bad about returning it, but they completely justified my feelings and assured me that the riverhead store should have never sold me the grill in that condition. Worst customer service at this location! We bought glass shower doors. While installing by hooking the hangers into the track one glass door shattered into thousands of pieces. An obvious manufacturer error. We packaged the other glass panel and brought it back for an exchange. The manager said no. Buy a new set and he will give me 10% off!!! WTF! It's an obvious defect. I left and went to the Home Depot in Riverhead. Exchanged with no problems. I told them about Shirley store and they said that's not right. But they cannot complain about another store. The rental department is complete garbage. The main store manager Steven is very knowledgeable, but the staff I dealt with at this store do not have the necessary training. I rented a vehicle, upon return it they charge me for fuel despite me filling it up prior to the return. They go check the fuel gauge and confirm that the tank is full. It turns out they (Jeannine) had accidentally charged me for SOMEONE ELSES Gas. Needless to say, I was very much upset. Told the cashier that I would like a refund, then was told that it was not possible because she had already closed the ticket. Jeannine then calls over Avery who simply repeats the same thing, telling me that because THEY closed the ticket; it meant that they couldn't return the money they shouldn't have taken in the first place. So from what I understand, these employees think it's ok to incorrectly charge you money for purchases you didn't make, and then offer you merchandise as a restitution when that is clearly not an acceptable option. Since when can a store take your money without your consent, for something you never purchased, and then dictate the terms of how they are going to pay you back? I left the store frustrated, but then made a call and spoke to the store manager Steven. He was very helpful and heard my complaint. He listened and quickly proceeds to return my money and apologized for what had happened. read more

There's a saying about The Home Depot that we are all familiar with "You can never find help there!" That's what I'm use to whenever I need to locate something or have questions regarding a item I would like to buy. This time I must say I was surprised, a employee walked up to me and asked what do I need and actually took me to the location of the item I was looking for. Home Depot is trying to shake the stigma of "no good service" and that's great. But they need to first work on training the people in the departments better. Online to have a key made (yes a line for keys) It felt like hours. The one young man making the keys looked like it was his first time. The line grew as my patience shortened. People on the line started joking about how long it was taking. I finally was at the end of my sanity so I walked over to the Customer Service Desk. The idea behind customer service is to serve or help as much as possible. I approach the young lady and explained my issue. She looked at me a bit confused then told me ask a cashier to help him. A cashier? I walked away without resolve and continued to wait it out. Finally the line moved and more keys were made but not without lasting damage. You see I would never Yelp Home Depot, you've been to one you've been to them all. But one bad experience last longer then ten good visits. They are doing a great job with help on the floor, but they still have mountain to climb if they ever what customers to enjoy there shopping experience at one of the stores. Let's hope Home Depot has some kind of training on how to speak to customers for its staff because next time I'm trying Lowes. read more

The glass on my storm door needed to be replaced. I went to the Home Depot to get it replaced very early on this Sunday morning. I found George in the Window and Door departments and explained what I needed. He brought me over to his computer and showed me that I can order the replacement glass directly from the manufacture or from Home Depot. As it turned out I couldn't find the serial number on my window. I asked if we could measure one that he had in stock and maybe we could get lucky and use that serial number to order from. Well, as it turned out the first door we went to was an exact fit and it was an open piece missing some parts, but the glass was perfect and he gave me a big break on it because of this! I didn't have to order anything and I was all set! I couldn't thank George enough. I was extremely impressed with his positive attitude and he was very genuine. I'm actually a Home Depot Fan, but I've been disillusioned by the higher prices and lack of variety that I've been seeing lately. Every time I want a product, go to the website, look up the #, and check for stock - it says "not at your HD", which means I have to call around asking all the HD's in the area. I frequently call the Shirley HD to see if they have materials in stock, and usually get lost in the shuffle of being put on hold, having a department paged, and then having them accidentally hang up on me. BUT - that said, sometime I wish I could take everything that I see in there. I can't help but marvel at all the "toys" that I could have from this place...just wish they'd lower their prices a tad. read more

I purchased 1000 ft. of Pergo flooring in February 2019 from Home Depot. After it was installed, I noticed several planks of flooring were not finished and were dull. I have never met an employee there that acts like they care about the customer. They actually appear to distain customers. On more than one occasion I have called there and been put on hold for over 15 minutes and then someone just hangs the phone up. When I go in and look for help it is difficult to fine any help. If by luck an employee is cornered so you can ask a question they look bothered you dared to ask anything. Often, employees are standing around talking with each other. They must hate working there. I bought a stove two months ago in Home Depot Shirley, the cooktop glass has a problem and I noticed it after cooking, I paid a warranty for 3 years, and Home Depot doesn't want to do anything about the issue with my stove, when you buy something At Home Depot they always tell you it covers everythin, so you buy the warranty plan, but at the end it doesn't cover nothing. They sent me to talk to the manufacture warranty, and they also don't want to help me. they're blaming me that it was my cleaning that did i, when I have been in the business of cleaning 19 years and I deal with stoves every day, and plus the issue is under the glass is not something that I could have done. I went to talk about it with Kim, she sold me the stove in the Appliance department in the Shirley Home Depot, she told me, and quote " I don't know there's nothing Home Depot can do, if you don't want the stove like that in you house, you can sell it, give it away or do whatever you want with it, but we can't do anything about it" I was 3 hours at Home Depot talking about it, and it was for nothing, they sen me to talk to the manufacture and I got the same answer. I have been trying for a week for them to send me someone to look at the stove and they haven't, the only thing they say that is something "cosmetic " but how are they supposed to know if they haven't sent someone to see it. I also asked for a refund of the warranty plan, and they dont even want to give that back, and they don't do anything about the issue with my stove. so I invite you to read this review and TO NOT BUY WARRANTY PLANS FROM HOME DEPOT, they tell you it covers every thing, and at the end it doesn't cover nothing, it's a waste of money and time to buy something from Home Depot. I recently moved into the shirley area and this is now my go to hardware store. I used to frequent the Home Depot on sunrise highway in Patchogue and I have to say I like this location a lot better. The staff is much friendly here and that's really the difference maker. I could be lost for 20 minutes in the other location and no one would be around to help and when I ask for help they point and walk away. I have noticed that in this location even if I'm not lost the staff is asking if I need help finding anything and the few times I did need help they walked me to the area I needed to be in. All in all the customer service here is up to par and I will be back whenever I need to do some home improvements!! read more

The worst place to buy building materials. Had too have friend come with me too do all the work off loading and unloading truck. But put order in day before they said it be ready next day. Went too pro desk nothing was ready and they only had half the order. She said they hold a rental truck on the other end for me. Then said the rest of the order would be brought down too us. Then at the rental center guy says oh I just rented last truck out 2 mins ago. He got manger which seemed clueless didn't know were the rest of our order was. And told me too call back and we might have a truck later. No more then half hr. Goes by the they call saying they can't find the rest of my order. So I call back over 4 hrs no knows or calls me back. Finally I go down there for a refund . They can't even do that right. I'm there for 30 mins and they want too refund me only $130 dollars when I spent almost $500 dollars on the order. This place is bad. Only buy.. small stuff. And this place is also bad for the disabled people there scooters weren't charged now I know way went a different time too find kids playing with them driving them around for fun in entry area good going home depot keep up the good work read more

I recently used Home Depot's ProReferral system ("powered by Home Depot") to find a contractor to install one of their garage doors. They "matched" me with a local firm with a 5-star review. Well, the guy did such a bad job with the first door he put in (wouldn't close fully, was balky raising and lowering, AND was a much cheaper, non-insulated door than the specific model I ordered). I had to threaten to sue him in order to get him back to replace and reinstall a door. When I called Home Depot, they disclaimed all responsibility. I went into your Shirley store to purchase what i needed to install a outside outlet.Well after looking for help in the lighting department i didnt find a anybody. I went to customer service with no one there on line. i spent 5 minutes being ignored. Finely i was sent back to lighting to wait for someone to help. 10 minutes latter no one there. I went back to the customer service desk and asked to see a manager. After a roll of the eyes she said she would get the manager. Another 10 minutes goes by and someone claiming to be the manager (not so sure she was because she thought it was funny ) Well i was told that they were under staffed and if i wanted help to go elsewhere. Well i did lowes is 15 minutes from your store and i should have went there from the start. In and out in 15 minutes got what was needed and advice. I also spent $257.92 there.The moral of the story is there is other places to get what you need and dont beg anyone to take your hard earned money. If i treated customers at work like your employees did i would be looking for a job.
