This whole thing is about service. Got a screen door about 3 years ago installed correctly and everything. Loved it so much got the exact same door for the front. Home Depot doesn't care about their vendors. This door was put in period. The trim was ripped out and broken, the caulking was terrible, and the fit lets flies come in. To make this short, I won't go into the problems buying and getting the door installed. But why buy a screen door if it takes two weeks to install? And if you can't install it yourself, don't go to Home Depot. read more

I visited the Strongsville Home Depot on 12/31/24, in pursuit of a few items. (And a pursuit of happiness.) Prior to even walking foot in the store, we called to inquire about the items we wanted, to be sure they were in stock. A very rude man answered the phone and was very quick to try and answer my call... a little too quick. I wasn't done talking, yet the guy on the phone from The Home Depot of Strongsville was done talking to me and hung up the phone... that alone exasperated my view on The Home Depot of Strongsville, yet I really wanted the items as it was a gift... Upon on arrival, I noticed there was a limited quantity of staff members available to assist. This was particularly frustrating as The Home Depot can be a challenge to navigate, especially as each Home Depot location is slighlty different and there are so many items. With the holiday season occurring, The Home Depot was advertising various deal kits. I'm a slut for a good sale... and what suited our fancy was particularly a Dewalt charger and battery combo pack deal, and the opportunity for a "free" tool once a particular cost limit was exceeded. Our preferred choice was the mighty blower, to blow all my completion away.) Once me and my fella buddy wandered around the store for what felt like centuries, hopelessly searching aisle upon aisle, pallet rack after rack, we found the gold, or rather yellow, Dewalt holiday deal section. We were ecstatic to have found the product we were looking for, yet it was locked up behind bars, like Al Capone back in the 30's. We looked around, but couldn't find workers. We then noticed there were QR codes around, to scan for assistance. We attempted this, but were still awaiting for a human (or at that point, even an alien from space would do) to help us in a time of need. Eventually, I took matters into my own hands, marched around that store, and found a very nice guy to assist us... I wish I would have gotten his name. He unlocked the cage for us, and released the items without hesitation. He then put our items on reserve at the cash register, so that we could go retrieve the other items on the list, which was an electric snow shovel... Oh man, This is where things took a turn... We headed onward to the garden center and once again, had difficulty finding the item. We found a women who told us she "could try to assist, but wasn't from that section of the store" (as her specialty was home Reno's)... regardless, eventually an older gentleman came over and we asked for help to find the item.... This made me ponder, why is it called a gentleman when he was anything but gentle? Buyer beware - He was harsh and rude. We explained the store was showing 5 in stock, but he scolded that the online system is behind and we were wrong. He was not very helpful nor kind. Maybe he needs positive thoughts and prayers. Overall, I would say stray away from the garden center, especially if the older gnome (non-gentleman) man is there, as you probably won't leave the area with anything, but your dignity and money. Typically, I am The Home Depot fanboy, but this experience and location has lowered my love for the store by a few notches, and they'll need some marvelous good sales to raise my appreciation for this place again. read more

Came to this Home Depot on a Sunday afternoon. I was expecting there would be a lot of people and little help. I was pleasantly surprised to find that while there were a lot of people, there were many to help. The two guys John and Kookie who were great at the paint counter. While searching for bath towel holders we were given the exact aisle by an associate who could see we were searching for something. We also asked for help with recessed lighting and the gentleman told us aisle 51 which had some but he found us and said. Oh nuts probably aisle 50! Wow. He actually came to make sure we found what we needed. While we did need to order 1 thing online as they didn't have the size. We got everything else on our list of home projects ! Definitely worth coming to for the customer service and selection. read more

Went in for spray paint color that I couldn't find elsewhere. I didn't have to search the store for the area I needed to be. Signs mark everything well. Paint conveniently even located at the front of the store. Was able to get in and out without hassle. I did self checkout. My total shopping experience was around 15 minutes. read more

Stopped by this Home Depot to buy supplies for my daughter's science project. We need a six inch 2x4, two long screws, and some rubber bands. They had everything we needed. The friendly worker cut a six inch piece of scrap 2x4 and gave it to me free. Using the supplies, we built a sling shot to shoot Skittles using a spoon. With a few added rubber bands, we were able to launch Skittles across the room. My daughter got a good grade on the science project and I will return to this friendly and helpful Home Depot if I'm in the area. I had been dealing with Home Depot beginning in June 2020 on a Sharp convection microwave that caught fire and could get NO help with anyone even though I had a 3 yr. Protection Plan. I spoke to even the Customer Support in Atlanta and got nowhere. Matt did a wonderful job of customer service and at times I also talked to Andrew. Matt made arrangements to have the microwave picked up and always followed up with me when he said that he would. I started a bathroom remodel so I went to the Home Depot and bought all of the materials for a full bathroom remodel, tub, surround, tile, vanity, sink, fixtures, everything, spent thousands, and due to Covid it had to put on hold a few extra months. So now that we are completing the remodel we come to find out the vanity was damaged prior to opening. So in its original packaging along with original receipt I return it for an exchange, they say we no longer carry that product and it's been over the 180 days, that is now their return deadline, so there is nothing they can do about it, so be weary of stocking up on supplies from Home Depot. read more

I really don't know why I keep ordering windows, or anything else special order. I feel like I'm Charlie Brown and Home Depot is Lucy holding the football. We standardized on the American Craftsman windows for all of our rental properties. We had one window on special order. It came in on Wednesday, I was texted twice in 10 minutes time , emailed, and called to come pickup the window. I went in today to pickup the window. I waited 40 friggin minutes at the Pro counter, watching 25 customers have their orders rung up, paid for and left at the register next to the pro desk. Meanwhile I waited 40 minutes for a window that I had already paid for! If I could give 0 stars, I would. My dad bought the Husky garage cabinets from Home Depot online. They sent him dented cabinets. He asked for new ones. They charged him a second time and took 3 weeks to pick up the old cabinets. Then they accused my dad of not returning the cabinets and refused to give him his money back for the second set that they should never have charged him for in the first place. Luckily he took pictures of the truck and license plate to prove that they picked up the cabinets. Then, they refused to give him a full refund. He's now out an additional $624 because "we won't give you any more off". NEVER EVER BUY ANYTHING FROM HOME DEPOT. GO TO LOWES OR ACE. Yesterday, i was at The Home Depot with Antonio Hilario Guerra shopping for ceiling tiles. Black ceiling tiles to be exact. I asked an employee to direct me. He said isle 27. When i arrive to that isle, i find 2 younger white employees talking and joking amongst themselves and I politely excuse myself and for directions to the ceiling tiles. They point to the bay where they are located. I begin looking at all the tiles and see no different colored ceiling tiles (i guess the colored ones you must order online). I ask them "you guys dont have any other color ceiling tiles?" His reply as he is walking past me was: "we only have white, white is nice right?! Whats wrong You dont you like white?! " My genuine response was "no im looking for black ceiling tiles" which then causes them to laugh hysterically out loud............... after they walked away, me and tony look at each other in disbelief. I was wondering if i was tripping. These kids were super condescending with their response. I look over at Tony and ask if he heard that? Both our faces were naturally in disgust. At a time like this, you would think people , especially caucasian people would be very mindful of what they say or joke about. He was very obviously referring to Race. I reached out to a manager to inform him about what just happened, mainly to educate him about needing to be careful about what they say. As i was checking out, the kid came over to me to apologize and say that he was only joking because he knew i would take the comment racially! .. if you assumed i would take that comment racially, YOU ADMITTED TO SAYING SOME RACIST SHIT! you dont know me to joke that way, you dont know me to understand how i would take your joke. It wasnt funny. I was genuinely looking for black ceiling tiles and his comments were fueled by race. Im not going to lie, as he kept getting closer and trying to explain himself, i got more upset. i told him its best to step away and leave it be before i smack the shit out of his mouth. **By kids i mean early 20s By the way.** If you know , you know. I purchased several light fixtures for my home. I had to return at least half because they were damaged. I realized after installing the last ceiling fixtures that 1 glass globe was damaged. I called customer service and was assured that a new globe would be shipped but it may take a few weeks due to the holidays. 6 weeks later I called as I never received the replacement. I was THEN told that there are no replacement parts but I would uninstall the fixture and purchase a new one. Long story short, there are apparently many things sold that come from China (like the light fixtures I purchased) that have no replacement parts so say you break a glass globe, you have to buy an entirely new fixture and a consumer has no way of knowing which products have replacement parts and which don't and HD could care less. I just ordered my remaining light fixtures from Lowes which DO have replacement parts. read more

My 5-Star review is less about the store itself and more about the employee who helped me. In a burst of pandemic DIY enthusiasm, I decided to redo my flooring and went to Home Depot to rent a tile saw. I realized quickly that I might be in over my head and had a million questions. I thought I could figure out how to do it from written instructions and pictures, but it turned out that I needed someone who could answer my questions and discuss my project with me, so I turned to the employee in the tool rental department. The young man who helped me, Emerson, was knowledgeable and (very) patient with me. Instead of ruining my floor as I'd feared I might, I actually did a pretty good job. Many thanks to Emerson for his expertise and to Home Depot for having such well-informed staff. This was my first experience with this store, and I will definitely consider tool rental there again. (Oh - and the tile saw I rented was excellent - nicely maintained and high quality!) read more

We have probably purchased $25,000.00 of appliances from Home Depot over the years and have never had an experience like the one today! I purchased a very expensive downdraft stove from Home Depot for our new home That was the best part! The first delivery day was setup and I received a call a day prior with the delivery window. When it arrived I noticed damage to the side and everything inside was spilled out in the truck. I didn't want the damaged stove so they took it back and I was told to call a 1-800 number to reschedule, during the 40 minute call I was asked to hold several times and finally a new delivery date was established. I was told to expect a call 24 hours prior to delivery to confirm the time window, that call never came. I received a call the day of delivery saying they would be there in 20 minutes, at that point I was an hour away from the house so I had to call the 800 number to reschedule. Again I was placed on hold several times and was finally told there is nothing they could do except reschedule. Now I have taken 2 days off of work to get this done and still don't have a new stove. Getting a little aggravated I decided to shop around online (while on hold) and found the exact same stove at kitchenaid.com for over 10% less so I called the Home Depot back to get a price match and of course they wouldn't match the price because it was on sale. After a few comments I cancelled my Home Depot order and placed the order with kitchenaid. My new, $450 cheaper stoves arrives in 2 days. Shop around! Home Depot will probably find an excuse not to price match anyway!! Pretty sad that they advertise things and won't live up to their word. read more

Went in today to get some lumber and stuff to do a home shelving project and had to interact with multiple associates to get what we needed. There really isn't much to say besides you better know what you want and be able to get it yourself. We actually stopped someone to ask them to help us find some particular screws and he said we didn't need that size, that we could use another, and then just walked away. Typically, if I stop someone on the sales floor to ask for help, I expect them to be helpful and courteous. After all, it's called customer service for a reason. When does an installation become NOT an installation? Here's how I think this works: You go to a Big Box store, see all those appliances, those plumbing fixtures, good prices and... hey, wait a minute! They'll even install this for me for what looks like a great price? Sign me up, Orange Apron Guy. So, they hire some OTHER company to do the install. That's pretty standard, and a nice way to off-shore the responsibility, in the parlance of our times. That Other Company then schedules to come out to your home. New Guy From Some Other Company walks in, takes about one hundred seconds, or so, to size up the project. At this point one of three things will happen: One: He installs it. Two: He starts to make a bunch of excuses why he would just love to install it, right now, jiffy quick, BUT... He has to call Vern and Bud, and Vern and Bud are way across town, would tomorrow afternoon be good for you? What you thought might merely be a lost afternoon quickly becomes a lost weekend or so. Eventually, they'll find the two guys actually hungry enough to actually install the thing. Three: He walks out, telling you that they "aren't authorized" to do your particular install because, because, because. Because they aren't authorized. And bye bye. So they leave your new dishwasher, in the box, in the driveway. The third one happens quite a lot, and it happens for a very unusual reason. See, the guy (or more typically TWO guys) who shows up with their shiny big truck and two complete sets of shiny tools will only make money if they are able to charge for MORE than just that install. So, if the job is really straight-forward, if it looks like a piece of cake, if you think that you'll have your new, gleaming appliance or fixture INSTALLED, it won't get installed. Because. The only way they'll make money on the investment of truck, men, tools, and overhead is to make the job include a few more hoses, and some wiring, and some more piping, and then some cabinetry, carpentry, blacksmithery, midwifery and on and on. Just working for that down-and-dirty get-in-get-out install price, the ones they have on the big signs back at the store? Not worth it. Now, I'm just running this up the flagpole, y'know, seeing who will salute, but here's my guess: If they can't figure out a way to bill $1,400.00 on a job, they walk. So they walk. Had to return 3 different kitchen faucets because they either didn't work (touchless sensors broken), or they had visible broken parts upon opening the box. Pretty sure the last faucet I bought was a returned item that they put back on the shelf and tried to sell as new. Tried to speak with the acting store manager, who didn't even have enough respect to give me his attention after having dropped $500 on three different faucets in less than 24 hours. Not even worth one star. I went in trying to remodel my kitchen. I took in photos, drawings, everything to help make things go smoothly. On the day of my delivery, the installers showed up and said "Thanks for telling us this was on the third floor". Um, I DID tell the store I was on the third floor. Then, they inform me that Home Depot policy doesn't allow them to remove or install dishwashers without a separate shut off valve. Hello? Why wasn't that mentioned when you charged me for installation? So I made a quick call and arranged for a friend to come install it the next day. In the meantime, it is sitting in my living room. Then the fridge comes up, and it OPENS THE WRONG WAY. I have a counter across from it and a wall to the one side, so I can't use the fridge AT ALL, unless I feel like crawling under the door. So the installers tell me to call and have someone come and change the way the doors open. I called and explained that this was their error, and I couldn't use my fridge and needed someone to come out right away. All the woman at customer service kept repeating was "It wasn't on the work order that it had to open that way, that's why it came like that." WHO CARES??? YOUR staff filled out the work order, YOUR company screwed up. Well, of course nobody can schedule this except in four hour increments that are during working hours, so for those of us that work, this mean either take a day off or wait until the next saturday. Well, lucky me, thanksgiving is this week, and I HAVE NO FRIDGE. Plus, since I have plans through the weekend due to the holiday, I am now having to go TWO weeks without a fridge. My food is all out on my balcony as I type this and I have no idea what I am going to do. A few hundred dollars in food in the trash I guess. The store manager was useless, they even suggested I do it myself. I'm sorry, if I pay over 3000.00 for 3 appliances and two arrive and I can't use them, I have a problem. Especially when I provided pictures and drawings and you STILL got it wrong. Maybe try fixing it...you know, customer service...since it was your fault in the first place. I was going to use them to do my kitchen flooring and cabinets as well, plus my bathroom remodel in the spring. NO WAY. So Home Depot installed a defective door and their installer "Sayre Remodelling" mis-installed the molding, botched up the door handle install so that the door does not close right, plus damaged the dry wall. Home Depot sent out a contracted inspector who verified the defects. Sarye's manager came out and verified the defects as well and said he would never have installed the door. The Home Depot district manager refused to acknowledge the defects even when Sayre pointed them out. HD "customer service"in Atlanta, GA offered $600 and no door replacement under warranty. We refused since repairs would run much more. Then HD lied to Chase Bank saying that all was resolved. Their Atlanta office is no longer answering calls. This is heading to small claims court and an attorney general complaint. These people had no conscience over ripping off us seniors. read more

WORST. CUSTOMER.SERVICE.EVER. I had purchased some glass tile for a kitchen project. When it was complete I had half a box of unused tile to return. I went to the store, within 24 hours of the original purchase, with my receipt but was denied my return. Supposedly I have been 'flagged' by a 3rd party as having 'excessive' returns. I rarely make any returns and when I do I have my receipt. I asked to speak to a 'manager' who said it was 'out of their hands' and would not help. I have never experienced anything like this. Bought $700 wood at Lowe's and rent to Home Depot rent a truck to get it home. Only a 75 min rental on the truck. Had a 3 hour wait and I was in the store to reserve. Went to get the truck and I had to have proof of insurance card on me. I am in work summer clothes and ran over from Lowe's to get the truck. I have rented cars, trucks, u-hauls never having to have proof of insurance on me. Now the gf has to drive 30 minutes to get me a copy of insurance. Wouldn't be bad if this was the first time they ended up fucking me, but this was just the last straw. I am one that doesn't beg stores to take my $$ and I don't go where customer service is non-existent. Everyone already knows Lowe's hires more quality people and not stupid high school kids and the $700 that I spent at Lowe's, the prices where exactly to the penny the same. So why ever go to Home Depot? Only for more aggravation and disappointment. Well, I am no longer a glutton for punishment and will not only ever step in the place again, and I will drive a block out of my way not to even go by the store anymore. They are bad! They sub the work out, have no control and are rude when you question anything and thats if they even get back woth you. I ordered a countertop which i paid for up front. I was promised my countertop in 3-5 weeks. Its been 10 weeks now and still no countertop. Missed my housewarming party and when i questuoned it after the 4th week. Noone would call me back after 4 phone calls and a trip in the store. I got ahold of corporate after 6 weeks and they told me they will not even comoemsate me until the countertop is installed and they see if anything else happens. So many bad things happened i cant even write all of it! Its been a complete nightmare. So a lifelong home depot shopper will never step foot in there again.
