I've shopped A LOT at this store (spent over 20k the past year) remodeling a two-story house in Galena. While I'm pretty knowledgeable about most things when going in and making a purchase, I've found that many of the staff here at this location are not. Recently we had some blinds cut as we finished up our remodel and the first batch we had cut was by a very experienced staff member and his cuts were perfect. The second time we went back a different guy cut the blinds (we had to find the boxes for him, he didn't know they even had the product and told us they didn't have them, until we showed him where they were). When he went to cut the blinds he told us he didn't use the cutting chart with the machine and just eyeballed them according to our measurements. Guess what? We had to return three of them because his cuts were so far off they didn't fit our windows. His cuts were also extremely sloppy, jagged, crooked, etc., and yet this guy worked IN the blinds section, so he had no excuse. Another time I was in the tools section and asked the associate assigned in that section about a masonry blade they had in stock. She was utterly clueless. She had no idea what a masonry blade was or what it would be used for. Basic stuff. Obviously no training, yet this particular associate (a middle-aged woman who I know has been there a long time having observed her before numerous times), couldn't tell you the first thing about the blades in stock. She was like huh? And walked away. I've also noticed that when you are in the electrical, plumbing, lumber, and tool sections, do not expect any help unless you are willing to wait in line at the front desk or pro desk. I've personally seen associates in these sections see you in an aisle and do an about face and walk down a different aisle to avoid a customer who may have a possible question or even avoid greeting them as they passed. This is not an isolated incident as I've observed this many times. In the tool sections (the highest profit section of the store) you almost NEVER see associates in those aisles. They should have someone their constantly. It's almost impossible to find associates in that section unless you go to the pro desk and request it. Considering everything is locked up in cages it's a major pain. When i worked for Home Depot 20 years ago as a high school and college student they were firing the associates at stores across the country (order came down from HQ), for associates that were observed avoiding customers, etc. They need to start doing this again. I also know where the break room is in this store having been a former employee years ago and almost every time I'm at this location (the breakroom is just off the lumber area), you can hear all the associates in the break room laughing and jabbering away. Why aren't they on the floor working? Again I've observed this many times at different times of the day. Like were talking groups of people not just a few people on lunch or 30 minute breaks. Are these folks getting paid to just sit in the break room for hours on end? Seems like it. Inexcusable. If HD HQ knew this, heads would roll. read more

purchased a gas grill and had Home Depot assemble it. when we got to my SUV found that the two side tables did not fold in. Billy and Austin got tools and removed one of the sides. they were then able to lift it in. would not take a tip. great job above every day service! read more

Bought storm door here and had them install it. A couple of months later, the knob falls apart and can't be fixed. Customer service makes a different suggestion before calling a Mr. Feeney who says call the mfg. Both were rude to me. How about you guys fix it instead of passing the buck? In 2017, I said: "This is your typical BIG BOX home improvement store - which means it's a largely self-service / find it on your own kind of place.  They have a really good selection of tools, home improvement stuff, lawn and garden stuff -- IF YOU CAN FIND IT.  The staff is generally very pleasant and they try to be helpful but I've found that most (NOT ALL) are limited in their knowledge of what the store is selling.  There are the occasional bright spots when you actually find a very knowledgeable and helpful employee but -- as I said above -- this is generally a find it on your own kind of place. Selection is good / prices are competitive to good and the location is usually well stocked." In the past 4 years, I've come to depend on Home Depot for a variety of projects and products. I've used their deliver to home option; I've used their order on-line for in-store pick-up option; I've rented their van (a real deal at $19.95 for 75 minutes) to get big stuff home and I discovered that more and more of their staff are getting to know what's in the store and, more importantly, where it's at in the store. I ordered a laundry tower to replace my older stackable units. The men that were responsible for delivery and installation immediately said they couldn't do the work because they were unable to install the smaller unit claiming all sorts of things such as the flexible lines they were using were not long enough, the gas line wasn't long enough, they couldn't access the space. At one point one of the men was yelling at me and 'mansplained' why I had no idea why the space didn't work. Keep in mind the laundry tower is actually smaller than the previous stacking units. He demanded that I decide immediately whether I was canceling, rescheduling or if they should just leave the unit because they had 18 deliveries after me. I ultimately decided to have them leave the unit (which they would only deliver as far as the garage). Thanks for that lack of help! I called a friend to help me move the old units, as Home Depot refused to take the old units because they couldn't (aka wouldn't) install the new unit. Within 40 minutes old units were out and I connected the new tower. I then proceeded to call to start the refund process for installation, parts and haul away. The call center and the store manager treated me as if was a favor to complete the refund. Again, no installation, no parts were needed and no haul away completed. Why is this a favor to me? There was no work performed! I'm still in shock as to the lack of professionalism and customer service. If you have the ability to buy elsewhere or install yourself, please do. All this resulted in was finger pointing and no accountability and I'm still waiting for a refund to process. read more

I needed to buy a 3-4 different 18v power tools for a job, had limited time between appointments and was willing to spend hundreds of dollars. I stood trying to get someone to unlock the cabinet, but no luck. Ended up scanning the QR code to notify that I needed immediate assistance. Ended up interacting with an employee who just randomly entered the isle, but she was not actually there to respond to my request. She just wanted to sell me a furnace and accosted me repeatedly but didnt know how to open the cabinet so she left. A while longer another employee, a very old man, randomly appeared but I soon realized he also was not there on my behalf either. He literally opened the cabinet right beside the one I needed for another customer. I waited patiently and when he was finally done I explained that I'd been standing there for 15 minutes and needed him to open my cabinet so that I could quickly get what I needed and be on my way. That dumb MF literally told me he was busy and walked away. So in the end no one actually ever responded to my request for assistance so I ended up going to a competitor and bought all the tools I needed. The manager of that store should re-train all of his employees and emphasize the importance of customer service. read more

There were a half dozen guys standing around looking clueless in fasteners. Go away. Help them. She's married. Buy a clue. I called the location to log a complaint. They hung up on me (I was beyond polite, don't make excuses). I don't know why we go to Home Depot, ever. Toxic masculinity is their corporate brand. I went there for some plumbing supplies, but I needed to use the restroom first. I turned down an aisle and saw that it was blocked off so they could use a forklift. No big deal, I get they have to do stuff like that. I went an aisle over and it wasn't blocked off so I started walking toward the bathroom only to have the guy who was doing flags for the forklift guy scream at me that I'm not allowed back there. And I mean he was yelling. The guy was about 30 yards away. The situation was a little embarrassing. At the end of the day, maybe you should adequately mark off areas customers aren't allowed to be in, you know maybe follow OSHA regs, rather than yelling at customers minding their own business. I was so excited to go to pick at floors and counters here. Took a couple hours off of work to go in and get the process started on a week day. Apparently there is a 'counter guy' and that guy is different than the 'flooring guy' and after waiting for an hour, we got a counter guy to tell us we had to go home and do our own measurements and come back. That starts the process. Keep in mind this was day one of the sale on the countertops that we wanted. They didn't know that but we told them and then they flipped the sign to show there was a sale. So we went over and measured our counters and then went back the next day... No counter person to talk to. Then we called, no phone call back. We called the next day, no phone call back. We finally were able to send them pictures of the measurements so that they could give us a quote and start the process before the sale ends. We were promised a call back, no problem. We went back in one more time and guess what wasn't there... A person who could help us with counters. Spoiler alert- we never got a call back during the sale period for the counters. Or at all. This was the single worst experience trying to spend money we have ever had. No one can convince me that using this Home Depot for work in your house results in anything good. read more

I know crime is high. This Home Depot has made it nearly impossible to shop there. I wanted a large box item from the lawn and garden section. It was locked up behind some makeshift bars and cables. I looked for five minutes asking several employees to please help. Most said it wasn't their department and that they would try to find someone to come help me. I waited another five minutes by the area that I had requested help. No one came. Before I left that Home Depot store, I ordered the item that I wanted from amazon.com. It came promptly and with no difficulties for the same price I would've paid for it at Home Depot. Home Depot, if you're going to make it so difficult to shop off the shelf then perhaps you need to either have more employees working to help those of us that don't have access to the items behind lock and key or you need to provide personal shoppers. I will do my part to try not to shop at the store anymore because they have made it so difficult. read more

First off I am in here all the time. I basically live here. They pretty much have what I need for most every project and this store is good for one of their smaller footprint stores. If they don't have it Cleveland Ave or N. Hamilton store will. The reason I like The Home Depot is that the tools they carry are, in my opinion, far superior to that of Lowe's. Only wish they carried Stihl but hey it's not a perfect world and Ace and Rouch do so I'm good! Rigid, Milwaukee, & Makita all carried as well as some Bosch stuff too! Far better than Lowe's! Lumber has always been good as well as plumbing. I will say that plumbing is a bit hard to navigate but I will say staff has been good. I've had black pipe threaded here a few years ago and it worked out very well. Furthermore, you may have to wait a few minutes, but the people at returns and service desk have been awesome for me. I bought a two pack of Makita batteries for $129 and a week later they dropped to $99. I asked the gal at the service desk and even without a receipt she looked up the purchase via the credit card and credited my purchase. That's customer service! All in all I really like The Home Depot. I will post some much better pictures of the store. The ones on Yelp now are fairly confusing. read more

Don't buy flooring here. This location of Home Depot pulled a bait-and-switch on me. On the day of a flooring install I was asked to pay extra because the quote was incorrect. I was later told by the store manager that the reason this happened was because the person who issued the quote was not trained to spot the section that needed extra work. The installers also left screws on my floor, damaged a flower pot, and used my brand new kitchen table as a work bench which resulted in several deep gouges. Not to mention it took 7 trips to the store just to order the floors to begin with because I kept being told to come at specific times only to find out that the person I needed to talk to wasn't working. Two of those trips lasted over an hour as the employees tried to figure out how to submit my order. read more

On top of that, they seem to lately have a liking for hiring "gods waiting list." As in, the 94+ year olds, that can barely see or function. ‍ But my complaint this time goes to the fact that every other damned time I want to rent their truck, THEY, the store, are using it for their use. Like WTF?! Don't you already have enough money to get a truck for wtf ever?! I go in, after I've waited and checked to see that it's avail, and I go to rent it, and the front desk douche tells me that it's being used for in store use. So why TF online does it tell me that it's avail then?! And of course as he's trying to come up with some gibberish bullshit, I simply walk off. Bad enough that more than half the employees aren't doing shit or know shit, but I come in to utilize their service and now it's conveniently not avail, well, is quite frustrating. read more

My fiance and I are building a new house. Actually, we move in this month. So, when I had to buy a washer and dryer for said house I went and priced everywhere- Best Buy, Lowes, Sears, Appliance Smart....you name it, I went there. But, Home Depot had the best prices and the best sales team. I worked with Ken, and he was more than honest with me when evaluating my purchase. He even offered to bring up the consumer reports on the products I was considering, because I had read negative reviews about them on other retailers websites. In the end, I left with a great GE pair of front loaders with a 4 year warranty (that starts after the first year!) for $998 for the pair and $179 for the warranty for BOTH appliances!! I literally saved myself about $600 by purchasing my washer and dryer here over Best Buy. I would definitely recommend Home Depot not only for the great service I encountered, but they also have a great warranty, AND free shipping and delivery! read more

The gentleman cutting my plywood sheet for me was beyond nice, I was asked if I needed help multiple times, and I was actually able to find everything rather easily. We just had a very bad experience here. I know based on my review it will be obvious who I am, but I kinda don't care. All of the associates that assisted us were very helpful. But one was overly so. To the point where I felt uncomfortable. I've seen her several times so I know to duck and run when I see her coming, my husband does not. He made the mistake of interacting with her and the whole shopping trip was ruined. I didn't catch her name, but if you work there, you know who I'm talking about. Female, brown hair, brown eyes, self proclaimed "crazy", makes comments about her political views. She literally came up to me so fast and got so close that she bumped into me, pushing me back more than once. About the 3rd time she did this I stood my ground, and I don't think she was expecting to be met with force, as she stumbled back a step. I had my fussy 18 month old with me and I was trying to pick out over 50 varieties of seeds, so it was not an easy task, having to tolerate her on top of it actually had me kind of frantic. She kept touching me and my son, tugging on his hat. It was all very bizarre. I should have said something, but instead I just settled with being rude when she tried to insist I shouldn't use the items I was looking for & instead should use what she recommended. We shop Home Depot all the time. Like a couple times a week, having just bought a money pit of a house. But if I have to tolerate a touchy overbearing employee every time I come here, I'd rather not. Next time I'll head to a different location. Or a different chain all together. I know this review is going to come across as harsh, but I don't get to get out of the house much and I was excited about our little shopping trip today. Instead it was a rushed series of picking things out around asking my husband to try and keep her away from my son and I. If an employee can't keep their hands off customers or can't give them a little personal space they shouldnt be allowed to come around a counter. Maybe a team meeting where the supervisors go over boundaries is in order here. also not one cash register was open. NOT ONE. Do not buy any appliances of any kind from this crappy, rude, condescending store. Seriously. Customer service isn't dead but it has sunk to a new level of low. I'm really tired of the refusal to say what you mean or stand behind your product. We've had multiple dealings with rude people here for many years but have overlooked it because of the convenience of the location. No more. The appliance manager "Gary" is one of the rudest people we have ever dealt with in a customer service setting anywhere. We purchased an extended warranty on a lemon dishwasher that HD will not honor. We bought a Samsung dishwasher that had multiple problems. It is still under warranty and cannot be repaired. It was also damaged n the installation. Gary and the HD staff point fingers at the manufacturer (trashing Samsung which they sold) and disclaim any responsibility. The machine smells of smoke and we have no confidence that it is safe to be in our home. The warranty repair service showed us where the dishwasher had been damaged during installation (Home Depot installed it by the way) and should have never been installed in the first place. HD doesn't care at all about helping us or honoring their extended warranty. After multiple attempts to get any sort of resolution, we are left with no choice but to sue. I would recommend suing Home Depot before trying to work with them. read more

Awful experience. First of all, I am trying to check out at 7:30pm on 11/30/17, an hour and a half before close, and they have already closed all the checkout counters except the self checkout. Self check out is ok if all your stuff has upc codes, otherwise you need an associate to price the thing for you. So I walk up to the 'helpful' associate at the self check out and ask him to check me out. He rudely sends me back to get 'a tag.' So I go ask another associate to get a tag for me. He then asks the check out guy what he needs, and he says "*I* don't need anything *HE* needs a tag." What a creep! The other associate finally figures that he is asking for a skew and has me come with him to get the skew. The first guys was terrible, the second OK, but if you go to the checkout counter and the item is not tagged for check out, it is the checkout associates job to do what needs to be done to get you the checked out. You should not have to run all over the giant store again to show them where you got it off the shelf. I'm going to the ACE at County Line and Smothers next time! read more

Absolutely HORRIBLE!!!! We bought a washer & dryer. The washer does not work. They disavow any responsibility. Call LG, LG won't come without a service charge. The delivery service won't come until they put us back in line, a week later, Home Depot gives us these options: 1) wait til the guys who messed it up in the first place try again in a week; 2) pay $130 for someone to come haul it away; 3) try to work with the delivery service to get a good machine; 4) if I get it out of my house, Home Depot will then pick it up. I'm not sure if throwing it out the window counts. DON'T BUY FROM HOME DEPOT. NO RESPONSIBILITY ONCE THEY GET YOUR MONEY!!!! read more

I do not feel like i am constantly lost and searching like i do at Lowe's. I also find the prices and quality to be generally good. Well I wasn't going to write this review but The Home Depot has really irritated me. I'll make this brief. My wife and I bought a dryer and washer from The Home Depot. We received it on a Friday, at the beginning of September 2018. My wife and I had to work over the weekend. We realized the dryer door was terribly off center and basically couldn't be fixed. My wife said I'll call on Monday. The Home Depot told us we only had 48 hours to file a complaint and return the dryer. They told us there was nothing they could do. We have lived in the Columbus area for over 30 years, in all the times we have purchased appliances, we have always had 30 days to decide if we wanted to keep the appliance. Not with The Home Depot. I've done a lot of remodeling over the years on my home and others. This is the last time I will ever purchase anything from The Home Depot. I'm finished with them. I've told all my friends as well as other home remodelers about this incident. Please consider this review when purchasing anything from The Home Depot. read more

If I could leave a 0 star review for customer service, I would. My advice? If you want to update your home and get great products quickly with great customer service, use either Build.com or Houzz.com. Purchased a ceiling fan with a remote. It was a vaulted ceiling installation, so I had a contractor install it. After 3 guys wrestled with it for an extra day, ($$$$$) it was determined that the receiver was not working properly. Our contractor left the fan installed, and said to just take the receiver and remote to the store and they could just switch those parts out from another box. He said they do this all the time for contractors. Apparently not for the average customer, though! My husband spent wayyyyy too long there, talking up the chain of retail command, to come out with 2 solutions: 1) take down the fan and exchange the whole thing or 2) contact the manufacturer for a replacement part. Guess who the manufacturer is??? Yep! Home Depot. In 3 to 7 business days, we may have a fully functioning $230 ceiling fan. read more

I was to take delivery of this washing machine today however, the installers made sure I didn't. The delivery service refused to put an effort in to a disconnect from the water valves. Had the cheapest monkey wrench available and therefore told me that my valves were rusted, that I would have to call a plumber then have to call back and get a new delivery date. I had a plumber at the house within the hour and it took him all of 5 seconds to do the disconnect. Apparently all the installer needed to use was a little elbow grease and better wrench. Then when I contacted Home Depot home office to try and get delivery that afternoon the manager was very condescending and would not reimburse my plumber fee. I will never use Home Depot again, and if you do make sure you ask every question possible. read more

We recently renovated an entire house. We unfortunately went to Home Depot on Maxtown Road in Westerville, Ohio and purchased most of the large items at one time, cabinets, appliances, countertops, etc., before realizing the huge mistake we made. While our sales person was wonderful, all other aspects were beyond horrible. The contractors were by far the worst. They are employed by Home Depot, however HD obviously doesn't care what they do. They don't show up when they are supposed to, they don't return calls. Basically, they suck. Home Depot's management is no better. After too many calls and conversations to count, we took our remaining work elsewhere. This was a terrible lesson to learn. If you want things to get done on time with good communication and management that cares, this is NOT your place. Run the other way. read more

Like Jon F. I had the unfortunate experience of dealing with the manager "Gary." Didn't call me back for days and only after I called him 3 times. Wouldn't exchange an appliance for a bigger more expensive one although my invoice says, "all special order subject to 15% restocking fee." I was happy to pay that but he didn't stand behind what his employees are handing out. Like I know every policy of the home depot. Another store acted like it was no big deal until she found out it came from another location and then said I have to go there. It is all good until you have an issue and if you do, do not expect any help or even a respectful conversation from Gary. When they tell you the paint color match works don't believe them! Go to sherwin Williams where they will educate you ! They will NOT REFUND bad color matches on paint!!!! They also will not tell you that it may not be the same color. Money down the toilet!!! read more
