Horrible experience! They are not "friendly" at all. Brought my machine in for a tune up, they had it for over 2 months. When I finally went to use it, the needle alignment was off (wasn't an issue when I brought it in) and not useable. When I brough it back in, I was told that too much time had passed and I should have tested it when I got it back. Why should I have to test a machine that I paid $180 to have "tuned up"? read more

Kim helped us tonight and wow, she was great. I'm sorry that some others didn't have as good of an experience. I am new to sewing and really only sew straight lines. My mom recently gave me her old machine and I didn't really know how to set it up. Kim spent a good amount of time with us to figure out why it wasn't working for me and then told me what all the different settings were for. It isn't often that someone is willing to take the time to help like she did. Kim is Fabulous!!! read more

Be aware this store is about 97% sewing and about 3% vacuum. Unfortunately for us, we needed our Oreck serviced and Oreck has closed their stores except for the one in Lyons ( not conveniently located for us). We knew exactly what needed repair but we were informed that the piece is no longer available ( not at the time we dropped off the vacuum but rather a few days later by phone). So a tune-up was done for a rather large charge ~ I thought. While waiting I looked at the vacuums they carry for sale and I think the $600 and up range is too rich for my blood. My husband made the trip to the Lyons Oreck store and, you guessed it, the salesman named the part by its number. It is available but at that point it was getting too expensive to fix so we just bought a new vacuum, for substantially less then $600. Why are vacuums becoming so expensive to service? Don't people still vacuum their carpets? read more

Staff was friendly but I paid for a clean and to oil my heavy duty singer sewing machine. They kinda cleaned it and messed with my tensions and it made a new noise when I brought it home. I brought it back in and the dumped some oil in it for "free" and sent me on my way. With sewing machine these days.... I guess I'll just toss them after two years then pay for maintenance so they can last the 25 warranty read more

Just walked out of this store and cannot be happier! Last night at 2am, I was in the middle of a project and my brand new sewing machine literally FROZE! Frantic barely describes me. They helped me on the spot! Got me the right needles and even gave me a quick lesson how not to end up there in the middle of a project again! One of the VERY FEW places that repairs sewing machines these days and they don't act like it--they honestly value your business and treat you with integrity and respect. We had a bad experience here. Two weeks ago we went in with our vaccuum cleaner to buy a new belt. They didn't have it in the store so it was ordered. It took one week before we were called and when we went to pick it up, it was about 3 sizes too big. Needless to say, we returned it and no kind words of sorry or can we order the right one. We received our refund and will not be returning there. Maybe they don't deal too much with vaccuums? On a positive note, we went to Oak Lawn Vaccuum at 9237 S. Cicero and he had the belt, put it on, cleaned the vaccuum and for less than $15.00 all is well. They are also opening another store in Countryside soon so closer to home. I purchased an embroidery/sewing machine here and love it. Karen was so helpful when I called to find out about repairing my 20 year old Kenmore. She suggested I get it fixed since it was made well and great for heavy duty fabrics. I opted for repair and browsed the store to see what options were out there nowadays with no pressure to buy. WOW sewing machines have come a long way in 20 years! I went home and did some research online and saw that if I purchased a Brother machine online they seemed to be lower quality and there was no warranty. This shop does repair work onsite and have also been helpful with any sewing or embroidery questions I have. The best thing about purchasing from this distributor is that 4 hour lessons are included. Would definitely recommend checking them out before purchasing a new machine. read more

I can't believe I forgot to yelp this place. I just picked up my vacuum cleaner and have my sewing machines cleaned and repaired when necessary. The staff and owner are very friendly and helpful. They give great customer service and return my drop offs in a timely manner. You can also pick up vacuum bags and accessories for any of your sewing needs. They have a back room with sewing classes which maybe a plus for all the designer want a be. read more

I usually do not write reviews and definitely not bad reviews but customers need to know. I have been taking my Brother sewing/embroidery machine here for the last few years and the service has been fair. December 2018 I took my machine in for a tune up and repairs. It worked fine for a few days then stopped working. First repair cost me around $180. Second time they fixed it and it worked for about two weeks. Brought it in again and it cost me another $70 because it was "unrelated problem". Sewing machine froze up and was not working again after a little over a week. I brought it in to Thimbles in Lockport. The repairs were done for $120 with a 90 day guarantee. It runs better than ever. I contacted Friendly Stitches because I felt I should get my money back. They stubbornly said they fixed it correctly even after I stated that the repair man said there were many overlooked problems that were the reason why my machine did not work. I was unable to use my machine for over two months because of three trips to this place to fix it. Don't take your machine here. It won't be fixed and it will cost a bundle. read more

Expensive. $79 for a basic sewing machine tune up. Sewing machine works very nicely now. Service is basic too. They don't clean up the machine for you like other servicers do. They don't offer to help you to the car with your sewing machine. read more

Let me start by saying the first time I used Friendly Stitch the service was great and I was told exactly what I would be paying for. Now we move on to the second visit, where my experience wasn't as pleasant. The first time I went, I had my vacuum serviced and was told it would be close to $20. The next time I went in I took my other vacuum from my business, same exact brand and model. I was told that the service would be the same as before, so I expected to pay around $20. Did someone call me and tell me what they were going to do before they fixed my vacuum... yes. When I spoke to the employee I sad I wanted the same service as before, they even told me that my vacuum worked fine and that they would clean it and have it ready to go. I go in yesterday to pick up my vacuum at which point I am told that I owe $70 for the service. I asked why it cost so much more than before and wasn't given an explanation at all. The sales women even said that the repair man tends to forget explaining cost of services when speaking to customers. I feel I was taken advantage of and will never go back to this store again. read more

We brought our singer machine there to have it repaired and cleaned and guess what happened. My wife used it twice and bam it had the same problem on the second run. We had it cleaned { not sure about that } and supposedly repaired. It cost us $119.00 and it had the problem. Will not recommend them. The help was nice. read more

I was checking on the Brother PE 770 and talked with Mary about the machine. The first thing she told me was that the PE770 did not have the same warranty as the Brother PE780 with Disney designs. Because the 770 is sold on line only she wanted to sell me the PE780 which she had in the store for a lot more money. I told her I did not need those. Brother claims those 2 machines have the same inner workings except for the Disney Patterns. When I got home I checked on line and found the warranties to be exactly the same on both machines. I specifically asked her not to lie to me since I have owned Brother machines in the past and have had this experience with other dealers but she continued with this assertion and told me that the warranty on the 770 was not the same as the 780. Now I find on the Brother site that they are discontinuing the 780!! Wonderful. She also did not tell me that Brother has them listed as servicing the 770 UNDER WARRANTY. These dealers only want to sell you more expensive machines that they sell in their stores. SAD11111 I love home embroidery and wish I could find an honest dealer!!!!!!!!! read more
