Great gear and boat and he had plenty of patience with three novice anglers. He put all three of on fish. We hooked up 7 large mouth bass, 1 cat fish and 1 red ear blue gill. The captain was like fishing with one of your buddies, he told us interesting stories, provided advice on catching. Got us on fish and made sure everyone had a good time and caught fish. I have booked two trips with these guys both times party's of four. Our trips were shared charters and for striped bass at Lake pleasant. Found the boats to be clean and equipment in good working order. First trip we caught lots of fish in the three to five pound range and second trip only one at about four pounds but understanding that it goes with the territory I am reviewing the experience of the trip. We had great trips both times and our guide was a wealth of information on both the area and lake. I always enjoy watching him work his electronics in search of fish and enjoy the time on the boat while he does this and asking him questions as to learn more about this lake. I am eagerly waiting for the fishing reports to indicate the fish have gone into spawn and will be doing a private charter at that time with him. When planning a trip read the fishing reports and plan them when there is a bite going on and you will catch fish, if the reports say its tough fishing remember the guide does all he can to insure your odds are the best they can be. In those times ask questions and get to know these guys they are loaded with information about these lakes and usually will tell you all but there deepest tricks. read more

Got a bass trip for a me and a friend through a Groupon and Davis was the guide. We were on the trip with a father/son and it was amazing. Our first stop, I caught one the first 10 minutes and the father caught one too. After 30 minutes, Davis took us to a different spot and it was booming from there! My friend and I each caught at least 10 in 4 hours and the father and his young son probably caught the same or more. My friend was the only one to catch a catfish. Davis was so knowledgeable about fishing and was great with the kid who was having a blast. Would definitely go again! read more

Awesome! Had Dale as our guide, and can highly recommend him. We had a great time! There were 2 of us and Dale. Thought pricing was reasonable for the experience. Dale is personable and very knowledgeable and very much on top of his game! I have been fishing for years on the east coast, but learned a lot from Dale about fishing and AZ fishing especially. This excursion was a gift for my son in law and he agrees he enjoyed it immensely. Dale ensured we were always set up appropriately, explained things in the right amount of detail, and really knew his stuff. Happy go lucky with a lot of client focus. Bottom line, had a great time! 110% INCREDIBLE! My wife bought us a 4 hour session with a guide for my birthday. Neither of us knew anything about fly fishing. But in under an hour our AMAZING guide Dale had taught us the basic fundamentals of casting to get us started. When we went over to the water to start fishing, Dale continued to coach us on the techniques used for fly fishing. Dale's knowledge of fly fishing is equally matched with his passion for the sport. He taught us about the different types of rods and reels, as well as gave us a very detailed education on several types of flies and when and where to use them. I have always wanted to learn to fly fish and after our session today with Dale, he has definitely created a monster out of my wife and I. We are going out this week to purchase some fly fishing equipment of our own. This will be a passion our whole family will enjoy for years to come. If you are curious about fly fishing, I would definitely recommend scheduling a session with The Hook Up Outfitters. Second trip with these guys, and thought I would drop down a review. Trip #1 was three weeks ago- Shared charter through Group on. 6 people total on the ding myself and Son, Weather was cold windy in the beginning, but turned out to be a beautiful day. Everyone caught least 2 fish I think, and my Son caught 5! He is 11 and all he talked about was when can we go again:) Trip #2 We decided to do a private Charter this time, and all I can say is WOW! Our guide taught us more in 4 hours about fishing Lake Pleasant than I could ever imagined. We caught fish at every spot we fished with the total close to 20! Bought fly fishing lessons for my brother and I and called them prior to booking for a Sunday class. Said it was fine...and booked a sunday date with them. They cancelled the class for my day and rescheduled for a few weeks later to be cancelled again. Now they said they only have Saturday classes that I can book. Only reason I booked with them was to go on Sunday because of my work schedule Mon-Sat. They said they'll rebook me when a Sunday class opens up again. My original booking day was back in Oct 2011, it's been 7months. Emailed them a few times during that span to see if there are any open spots...all I get is a "we'll see." I booked the Sonoran Bass Adventure for my husband and I to celebrate our first anniversary. Two days before the trip I called them to confirm and Kyle told me we were the only two that had signed up and it was at risk of being cancelled because they require a minimum of four to go out on the tour. I was getting pretty upset and worried that my celebration plans were going to get ruined. I even had a hotel stay booked near Lake Pleasant the night before that was non-refundable. I must of called the Hook Up and checked up with Kyle 5 times before the trip. Kyle was patient and assured me that if the trip were to be cancelled, I would get a full refund. Then late afternoon before the trip, Kyle turned things around and confirmed that we were going on our fishing trip as planned because he asked the owner and they were willing to take just the two of us! I was overjoyed and grateful. We had a great guide, Larry. It was a beautiful day on the water and my husband and I each caught a fish. It was a fun and exciting time! Recently I thought I would surprise my son with a guided fishing trip. I searched the internet and stumbled on The Hook Up Outfitters. After reading the reviews I called and inquired about a private charter for my son and I. I spoke with Carmen and she was very nice. I have been fishing before but never on a guided trip like this. We met Dale "the guide" at the lake. He was very helpful putting us at ease. The boat was awesome and my son loved the ride! We quickly made our way to Dale's Honey Hole. I call it this because Dale said he knew of a place that most people didn't fish but had been good to him on recent trips. We caught our first fish on just our third cast. I let my son reel in a nice 2 pound bass. My son's eyes were the size of golf balls!!! He was so excited! We stayed there and probably caught 10 more fish. We had a blast! Dale was awesome! My son fell asleep on the drive home within minutes, but as soon as we got home all he could talk about for the next week was how big the fish was he caught.
