Never realized how amazing this place is tell I got older and had kids and being able to get something I need quickly really matters. The customer service is amazing the second you walk through the doors you are greeted and felt welcome. Only down fall is that most of the employees ( mainly the guys ) assume I don't know what I want or what I'm talking about. But I've started to get use to it. The store is clean and finding what I need is easy. The lumber yard is kinda messy but it's whatever. I also have taken equipment in now that they got a new mechanic ( I wouldn't waste my time or money with the last guy that was there I think his name was John) the new guy is amazing and helped fix my mower that the other shop in town thought they "fixed". I think his name is Bryan he is great and when I called for an update the gal in the shop knew who I was and was able to help me immediately with an update that they were waiting on parts. They said it was a 2 week wait and I got mine back in 10 days and fixed correctly have not had a single problem with it. I will definitely be bring my other equipment here. read more

Our air conditioner died on a 100 degree day. My husband thought that the problem might be the capacitor so the search was on to find one available immediately. The Davis and Woodland Ace Hardware did not have any, nor did the Woodland Home Depot. Who knew that the Dixon Ace Hardware would carry them and have them in stock. They set one aside for us and we immediately made the trip to Dixon. The capacitor was waiting for us and the sales person mentioned that they are the only ones in the area that carry items like that. We wandered about the store a bit, it's larger than the Davis Ace. My husband was also looking for a specific drip irrigation plug but they didn't have it in stock. Two sales members helped us look for the item and then they explained that the store will be doing a major re-do in October so they are starting to reduce inventory and the plug seemed to be one of the current reductions. Even so, the store was orderly and well stocked with other items. Our $40 purchase in hand, my husband installed it once we got home, saving probably hundreds of dollars if we had called a HVAC company to diagnose the problem and replace the capacitor. Probably the worst hardware store that I have been to in quite a while live here locally and it was great that I had a hardware store close by after coming to purchase paint last week. I was switched on brand of paint after it was mixed and the more expensive paint that covered less. me to come back to get not one but 2 gallons, but miraculously the paint department is now closed and no sign is available so it took 20 minutes to find associate to find out about the paint situation and when I expressed my concerns to Keegan, he was completely dismissive hands to the side leaning against the wall, I could understand your frustration complete dismissal. Stay away! Shop at the big box stores like Home Depot and Lowe's. Bought a craftsman leaf blower for my local Ace Hardware store in Elk Grove California. After two months of using it, it stopped working. It was still covered under warranty so when I called the store to exchange it, they told me I had to take it to the store and Dixon unfortunately the store I had to take it to is one hour away from where I live. I took day off from work to take it there after about a week they called me to pick up the unit they let me know it wasn't covered under warranty so I had to pay the $58.05 to fix it. Of course it wasn't covered under warranty. I took home and was ready to use it. I turned on the unit and stayed on for one minute and then died. I called the store and the guy who fixed it tried troubleshooting it but it still didn't work. He told me to bring it back. I told him I can't take another day off from work to bring it back. He told me to call craftsman and have them take care of it. I called craftsman and he told me to take back to the store where it was fixed and have them send them a slip that it wasn't working. At this point it would've been cheaper to buy a new one instead of wasting three days going back-and-forth fixing it. Never ever shopping at Ace Hardware again. Home Depot and Lowe's are way to go. read more

The folks at ACE Dixon are the MOST helpful people around. They go out of their way to help find items, or provide expertise to someone, like me, who is not in the construction trade. I've gone in there literally describing something as a "dothingamabob for shelves" and they knew exactly what I was talking about. I absolutely love this place. Plus, something you'd never say about a hardware store, they have the most amazing selection of pies. Peach is my fave. This is a good old-fashioned, Apple Pie and I drove my Chevy through the levy store, I enjoy going here, the people are all very respectful, very patient and there are a lot of talented people working here that can help you with most any hardware need. If they don't have something you need, they will help you find it. I don't know how these small busineses stay in business going up against the big box stores, but I do try to support them as often as possible as I want to help out my local economy. The prices are a little high, but they don't have a lot of control over that if they're going to survive. Keep up the good work and attitude Ace hardware! I have always felt that everyone was always helpful. However, I will not be coming back as I felt unsafe. Even though they have a sign that you must wear a mask, they are not adhering to it. The staff are wearing masks, but customers are not. When my husband asked about the situation, the response was that "they couldn't do anything about it". Same rating for the same reason, but now I have done a little research to add to my feeling that not accepting my Ace Rewards credits is a very short-sighted and misguided policy. I visited both the Ace stores in Davis and Vacaville and asked both the same question: would they accept the Ace Rewards for credit even if they displayed the name of another Ace store? There was no hesitation at either place. "Of course we would--that is your money to spend at an Ace store. I was also able to learn why prices on Ace items tend to be higher in Dixon than in Vacaville.....for the identical items. Apparently Ace publishes suggested selling price lists, three of them, to guide their stores in pricing. The Vacaville store uses the lowest price list; Dixon apparently uses a higher price list. read more

I would like to commend this ACE hardware store for their AMAZING customer service!!!! They provided superior customer service to me and technically I was not their customer. They corrected the unbelievably horrible service I had received at the Vacaville Ace Hardware. Vacaville had a pallet of marked down paint base quarts which I was initially told would be tinted if I took them into paint department. Planning to use these for a children's art project I was thrilled for the savings. When I took the 10 quarts to be tinted, I was told no. They would not tint them. Not even when I offered to pay to have tint added. The clerk went on to tell me to take them to Lowe's where they sell same paint " and if I was nice maybe someone would tint them for me". I tried several places seeking to purchase tint without luck. Took a chance and went into Dixon Ace Hardware and was overwhelmed by the kindness of their employees as I explained my situation!! Steve, Tony and Nicole saw to it that I walked away with each base tinted to my desire while refusing payment!!! These people are good people!!!! The older lady at the dixon hardware store (i think her name was Donna) was very kind and provided tips on driving. She even went out of her way to give me a mini lesson. I love this store. Each time I have gone in, the staff has been so helpful and nice. I have a coat hanger that I am refinishing and the guys helped me pick out wood putty, a paint color and gave me some tips on how I should handle the project. They weren't rude or acted like they were experts in a snotty way. They are just encouraging and helpful. As a female, it is nice to get treated as an equal in the store. I like how they seem to hire young kids and they obviously train them very well because they are very knowledgeable and nice. Great customer service. I reserved a Penske truck for a move and the pick-up site was here. I called them to confirm the truck ahead of time; employee was very helpful and professional. Penske's Sacramento office called ahead of time to let me know the truck wouldn't be in by the time I had reserved it for. I needed it by a certain time, so I had to cancel, but greatly appreciated the courtesy call ahead of time. That allowed me to make other plans. (On the other hand, I ended up having a very stressful experience with Budget trucks after that, because they did NOT let me know ahead of time that they wouldn't have the truck at the time I reserved it for!) DH&LC Need a washer for a 1954 Crane faucet that is impossible to find at any big box hardware store, DH&LC is the place! Although they may not be the cheapest place one can buy things, but that's not priority. The items they carry are quality and they stand behind their merchandise. And the staff is second to no other, especially Doug. There doesn't seem to be a project he hasn't done himself.
