1-star service: Came in to pick up order in the middle of the afternoon and the staff acted like I was an inconvenience. No southern hospitality, just the opposite from the relocated folks working here. 3-star food: wings ok, but we've had better. Small menu. More bar than restaurant. We prefer to give our business to those who appear to appreciate it, especially in days like these. We absolutely loved this place. We were only in town for the weekend and wanted some wings to accompany watching some football. The wings were delicious, as was the sauce! They offer 3 levels of crispness and although we took them to go, the wings were not soggy at all when we got back to our room- still crispy and hot! The service was also great! The wings were quick and the owner got us a drink while we waited (with a very impatient two year old so speed is important!). This place is owned by a family who has been vacationing at Holden for 25 years from Buffalo NY. The owners and children who run the place where friendly and amazing. Bills gear around with TV's and Labat Blue on tap. The house chips and fried avacados with Chipotle mayo where amazing. The wings where out of this world. Correctly cooked and sauced. Blue cheese was amazing as well. You can tell they have eaten real Buffalo wings before. Felt like I was back home. This will be a Holden beach staple for us for generations and a great addition to Holden beach in general. The only downsize is that if they keep serving food the way they do they may need to expand and sooner than later. Not a bad problem to have. Thanks guys. It was amazing. Vince read more

Just so happened to stop in when we were in town visiting with friends. Being originally from Buffalo and upstate NY, we were hoping for some good wings. Everyone in our group was sooo impressed!! Greeted at the door by the owner, who was friendly and helpful with ordering. Their son Kevin was bartending and pouring for us as we ordered food. He was on top of everything for everyone!! Their other son Matt took our orders and asked all the right questions like "Would you like your wings crispy?" Loved it! Our food came out quickly and steaming hot! The flavor of sauces was great. Hot was pretty hot! Everyone loved the Kickin Carolina also. The food was great; Service was some of the best we've ever received. We would all highly recommend this place. If you are in the area, it's a must try! We actually asked the owners to open a second location in our hometown. read more

Every time I come down from Northern VA (from ILM moved there) to visit my mother-in-law I stop in to get wings. They NEVER disappoint and wish I had a wing place this good close to the house. Great wings! We ordered ours extra crispy and they didn't disappoint. The wings themselves are jumbo sized. Each of the sauces we tried were excellent. The medium is probably the best balance of all worlds, it was perfect for us. The extra hot was exactly as advertised, consider yourself warned. Mango habanero was tasty too, sweet but still a good medium heat. Very friendly service, food was ready in no time at all. Fries were good and crispy. Absolutely fantastic wings! Originally from WNY, it's hard for me to find decent wings out of the Buffalo area. When I saw The Hot Buffalo and that the owners were originally from WNY, I had to give it a try while in Holden Beach on vacation. We were not disappointed. I would swear I picked these wings up at any number of the amazing pizzerias in Buffalo. They were crispy (hard to find!) and the sauce (we tried medium and honey bbq since our travel companions are not Buffalonians!) was spot on. We also tried the pizza logs (a Buffalo staple) were also great! We'd highly recommend The Hot Buffalo!! read more

Great wings! We ate outside. Their outside seating isn't super comfortable and my stool was wobbly but it was fine. The sun his the patio at a bad angle in the evening so it isn't really shaded even though it's covered. Not their fault. The food was really good, though. Service was attentive, cheerful. Brisk to-go business. I think we'll probably pick-up next time if my family still isn't eating indoors because of the stupid Rona. Definitely will add their wings to our beach dinner schedule in the future. Wings also reheated well. read more

Food is okay, but do not make the mistake of going in there when there is a football game on television. It's like a rabid Sports Bar with the classic rock cranked to disco volume levels and fans screaming like they're at the game. When the bartender asked me if I needed anything else I said earplugs. Would NEVER eat here! The absolute rudest customer service I have every dealt with when calling a restaurant. Called at 6:00 to place an order. I barely said "I would like to place an order for delivery please" when the rudest person I've ever talked to at a restaurant basically yelled at me that "we don't deliver until after 8:00". I indicated I would call back even though I thought that odd since they close at 9:00. I called at 8:10 with the same request from the same guy answering the phone "I would like to place an order for delivery please" at which point the same guy literally said "well I guess but you have to order at least a $40 dollar minimum" (which with their very high prices comparably wouldn't be hard). My order would have been much more than that but I told him to forget it. I refuse to deal with a business that treats customers like trash. read more

I've been to Hot Buffalo a few times now. Menu is small but I would not change a thing. Last weekend I got the hottest wings they have and they are not scared to but the sauce on the wings. My first time there my bill was a little high due to the fact the beer was cold and I was at my beach house alone for the first night so I had one or two extra beers. My wife not a fan of wing ask me to get her wings. So they must be doing something right. Keep up the good work. read more
