We made our annual summer trip to The Hot Buffalo in Holden Beach. The Shannon family has perfected traditional chicken wing (bone in). We had them naked, extra crispy, with Old Bay Seasoning. We choose two dipping sauces Mango Habanero and Garlic Parmigiana on the side. Off course two sides of Blue Cheese dipping sauce. The wings were absolutely fantastic. We also had an order of french fries which were hot, crispy, and mouth watering. If you live in this area please treat yourself to this mouth watering experience. Foodie heaven read more

The Hot Buffalo at Holden Beach is your average wing place. What hurts them is the dressings. Not homemade. I immediately picked up on the bottled ranch. The blue cheese had no flavor. The wings are good but average. They did say their wing sauces were made in house. The staff was friendly and attentive. read more

I have been vacationing in Holden Beach since I was a kid, so when I recently went I had to try this restaurant. These are the BEST wings I have ever had. You can get them regular, crispy, or extra crispy. We got ours crispy and it had the perfect crunch to them! The sauces were amazing. The spicy garlic parm was my favorite, it even had Parmesan cheese sprinkled on top. We got a side of the kickin' Carolina BBQ. To me, the sauces were not spicy at all. We got a heaping portion of fries as our side. We went around lunch time and got a table. When we left, they were PACKED and there were only two servers. We chose to sit inside since it was a little hot outside on the day we went. I will definitely be back next summer! read more

Extremely expensive for frozen deep fried food. I was very disappointed that nothing was homemade. After seeing the reviews I decided to try it. Very disappointed. It's a lot cheaper to go buy bags of frozen food from the grocery store and fry it from home. I can't believe all of the rave reviews. Great, friendly service. Awesome wings. We tried the Buffalo style, Parmesan-Garlic and Honey Barbecue. We ordered them all extra crispy (the way we like them) and they were all cooked perfectly and the sauces were delicious. The Parmesan-Garlic were extra good. The Buffalo style was delicious, but they were a little on the hot side for mild, in our opinion. However, they were still delicious and we enjoyed them. We come down every year to Holden Beach in Oct/Nov and we will definitely re-visit The Hot Buffalo for more wings. Highly recommended. read more

My only request or comment would be that it would be nice to have a salad that matches their quality of food. Quite honestly that is why we do not go more often, no salads or anything on the healthy side. Ranch lovers beware. Let me start by saying the wings are fantastic, but the spice level is much higher than we're used to. We ordered medium and they were HOT, coming from people who eat Takis and flamin hot Cheetos like candy. If you use ranch, it is basically inedible. Straight from a bottle and extremely sour. I feel like if all you offer is wings, every tossing sauce and dipping sauce should be homemade. None of us like blue cheese, so I'm not sure if that's homemade. Saw bottles of sweet baby rays in the back, so I don't think any of their sauces are homemade. We couldn't really eat our wings because they were much hotter than anticipated and couldn't use the ranch to cool it down. This was our first time eating here while on vacation. The food was good but here are some takeaways. They need to offer a 5 wing option. The least you can order is 10. If you are getting traditional wings, you cannot get just flats. So you pay for drummetts that won't be eaten. They should offer a flat only option even if you have to pay more. Finally, the ranch is terrible. If that's important, take your own. read more

Stopped in on a Monday for lunch. Got the famed Pizza Logs and the marinara is delicious. First, they ask if you want your wings regular, crispy, or extra crispy. That's a great sign. We opted for the crispy wings on our first foray, and enjoyed them very much. In addition to wings, there's an assortment of fried snacks, none of which are gluten free. My husband and nephew devoured a basket of fries, and contemplated ordering a second batch before the wings arrived. The wings are quite good; we tried medium buffalo (pretty spicy for medium, and I like spice), teriyaki and Parmesan garlic. I was skeptical at first because there is literally no good food spots in this area... $1.60 per wing was making rethink if I wanted to give them a try just incase I didn't like the wings because the reviews say it's good but a lot of people claim to think a lot of these local spots are good and they aren't! So I tried the 10 piece Spicy Garlic Parm and a order of ranch. I got my wings Cripsy and a side of ranch... I ordered to go and as I was driving off the smell was calling me to the box so I pulled over and ate a wing... the crunch was there but the flavor was OMG DELICIOUS!!! Just enough heat but full of that garlic parm taste as well... I ate that wing down to the bone and scoop the sauce each time I took a bite the house made chips were a nice alternative to fries... very delicious and I will order again.. read more
