Update ! It's been so long since I've done a review here. And I've upped it to all the stars. Gawd I love this place. It's gritty, it's fun, it's on the water, it had good pub food and is reasonably priced. It's also one of the last patio places you can smoke. That'd be a pro if you smoke when you drink or a con if you detest it to your core. I suppose if you do, perhaps find another place. Otherwise go here and be free to be you and me. I went to The Hot Club for my lunch break. Parking can be tricky but lucky enough I found a parking right next to the place on the street, they do also a parking lot. Everyone was so nice. I was greeted, my order was placed quickly ( it wasn't busy for a Monday lunch break) the fish nuggets taste like fish and the onion rings were nice and crispy. The price is reasonable. Plenty of seating options both outside and inside not to mention the bar. The menu even though not large is well out. The views are beautiful the water, the boats, the hurricane barrier. It does get busy on the weekends. It's a laid back chill spot. I believe they play music on the weekends and of course tv's for sports fans. This was my second time here. I've only been here once and it was on such a beautiful day. It was so nice to sit outside. Their parking was a little frustrating as they said there a lot was for employees only so we had to park on the street and walk but as long as you can get a spot, it shouldn't be a problem. They have a fair amount of tables outside that are all facing the water and their menu is pretty standard. The people working there were a little less friendly, but overall would totally recommend because everyone was nice enough. Summertime Hot Club visit is a must. It's just a great little location. Went with my sister - outdoor bar was not open yet but the weather was great to sit by the water and enjoy the fresh air and sunshine. I had a Strawberry Moon - a gin cocktail that was promoted so maybe a featured drink? It had grapefruit juice in it and a grapefruit moon would have been a better name. Not a huge fan. Love the bartenders! One and all. No one going through recovery/ rehab/ menopause or puberty. Adults serving adult beverages to other adults. Props to the doormen, all gentlemen - good guys. Excellent shade inside, just in case you're like me - I melt in the sun. The patio is HUGE!!! And it's on the water with sunsets that you'd normally see in picture books. On a gorgeous evening in Providence, hubby & I decided to grab a drink at The Hot Club. The views are awesome! And always fun to people watch (& subtlety eavesdrop). Also amusing to watch the dudes on the boats ogle the girls at the restaurant. Ahhhh... to be in my 20s again! The grilled burger was very good. Really cool vibe here. They only had two bartenders on - they needed some more help so was a bit slow getting drinks. Parking is a bit of a disaster. Very small lot ,it's on street pretty much. We shared the fish bites and seasoned dries and it was really good!! Super hot and fresh. No table service- order at the bar and pick up at the kitchen. Food prices were really reasonable. This place was so much fun. The parking situation can be stressful since it's not too far from India point park and it's by the water, but once you find parking you're golden. So this place is more like bar, finger food. You order your food at the bar, and can either sit inside or outside by the water. The prices are amazing! I was shocked for the area how cheap it was AND the food was delicious. It's not a server come to your table type of place it's grab your own food once it's ready and pick a table and grub. I love this setting. It was relaxing, all types of people and the music was very good. We sat outside and by the water. It was an amazing scenery and great vibes. The food and service is an A+. The staff is very friendly and eager to give customers an enjoyable experience and the food is delicious. The atmosphere can't be beat. It's on the water and from the bar up is all window so the view is amazing. The bar is a beautiful shade of wood that is so shiny. I was there on a rainy day so I didn't go out on the brick outdoor patio, but I was out there last year and the outdoor seating is gorgeous and also looks out on the water. If you're sitting you feel like you're in the water. My son even proposed to his fiancé here. This is my favorite place to go and it has been for years. read more

If you're looking for a nice view directly on the water, you've come to the right place! If you're hoping to compliment that view with some good food, you may need to walk on by. We were seated directly facing the Providence River promptly and politely by a masked host, and our masked waitress arrived quickly. So far, so good! Unfortunately the waitress told us their grill was out of commission, so our only choices were fried dishes. Nonetheless we prevailed and ordered: * Fish Nuggets * Clam Roll * Basket of Fries * Stuffed Quahog Actually we didn't order the quahog, but since it came, we tried it. Our comments on the food are: - Fish Nuggets: Very tasty, nice batter, moist fish! - Clam Roll: Terrible, as in did they buy these in the freezer section of a grocery store? They were tough and unappetizing. - Basket of Fries: Very tasty fries, hot and crispy. - Stuffed Quahog: Terrible, dry, almost inedible. I should note they have an abundance of outside seating, both on the water and in the parking lot. They also have seats inside. We mentioned to the waitress that we didn't order the quahog, but it remained on the bill. So I guess the bottom line here is that if you're looking for a nice spot to have a drink, this is a great place. If you're hoping to get some good food, you may be disappointed. read more

Stop #16 on RI FOOD FIGHTS 11th Annual BIG burger Blowout!!! I ordered a burger with bacon and crumbled blue cheese cooked perfectly delicious and juicy... My bartender Deja took very good care of me... As it is my birthday tomorrow, she snuck me a birthday cupcake, a shot glass and a free drink card to be used in the future (will use for ginger beer!) the first time I was at the Hot Club was about 40 years ago when I was running a club right across the parking lot called the River Café, That's where I hit my bottom... July 27 I will be celebrating 37 years clean and sober... I just celebrated 33 years cigarettes smoke-free January 27...I forgot they served food, and it was quite good... A fun, divey spot, even on a quiet night, the Hot Club features great city views, cheap drinks, and outstanding bar snacks. What more can you ask for? We stopped in late on a weeknight and settled on their marina-side patio with a couple of vodka sodas. After following that up with a couple local brews, we sampled from their late night menu. The seasoned fries were delicious, but the fried pickles were the standout and a perfect antidote to the beer. Unassuming and comfortable, the Hot Club is a perfect late night spot. read more

Stopped in for a drink after attending the 44th Annual Cape Verdean Festival (which was alcohol free). The menu here is pretty basic. There's a limited selection of appetizers and then some burgers and sandwiches. People come for the drinks (strong) and the nice views. We were here in a Sunday afternoon and it was pretty busy. I'm very pleased to see they did a complete overhaul on their bathrooms which were pretty sad last time I was here. Now they're beautiful. Great staff, great place for drinks. read more

I think my assessment of hot club will vary greatly depending on what sort of experience you are looking for. Do you want a pleasant spot to grab a drink by the water on a nice summer evening? Then I would definitely recommend hot club! Are you looking for great food, then maybe head elsewhere. I regularly come to hot club for their Tuesday trivia and I enjoy the host and the questions. I find it a good difficulty level although I wish it started earlier than 8! However I always make sure to come after dinner because the times I have had food I haven't been super impressed. However, if you just want a nice place to hang out with fun music and drinks then hot club is definitely the spot for that! read more

My friends and I came here for drinks one night last week. We got there and it was pretty crowded, but they offered us a picnic table. We ended up staying at one of the picnic tables. We tried opening up the umbrella at our table, but it didn't have a handle on it and wouldn't budge otherwise. A waitress came over to take our order, and we explained that we were having trouble opening the umbrella. She asked if we had ever opened an umbrella before! My friend then asked her if SHE had ever opened an umbrella. She tried to open it herself, wasn't able to, and then walked away. We then called over a different waiter to open our umbrella. He couldn't open it either, so he had to call over the manager, who proceeded to jump on our booth, pull the umbrella out of the table, and shove it open on the ground. What an experience! Wonderful place to get your drink on outdoors in nice weather, and a pretty cool place when it's not so nice outside. The food, while maybe not gourmet, is pretty solid. Very diverse crowd, too...from 20somethings to 70somethings, plus there's regular trivia and karaoke. Please note some of the lousy recent reviews...they are a result of Josh Miller, owner of Hot Club and Trinity Brewhouse downtown, supporting recently passed gun control legislation in his "night job" as a state senator. The gun fetishists opposing that legislation are attacking his businesses, including calling in phony reservations at Trinity. Just keep that in mind. (I do not know him personally.) read more

We did not start our day actually looking to patronize this place but we ended up hanging out there as we waited for our Riverboat Cruise. We were a bit confused about the Riverboat entrance and a gentleman from the Hot Club was very kind to provide us with all the details about how to go about accessing the information to get on the boat. He really did not have to do that but because he went out of his way; we decided to have several drinks as we waited for our cruise. The Staff is really cool and quick to take care of you. The weather was great so we visited the outside bar area and were joined by several locals who were having a great time. They were a fun bunch and the drinks kept flowing. We had an excellent view of the river and the dock. Unfortunately we did not order any food but the menu had many options if anyone wants to have food. Maybe next time!!! read more

This bar has one of the best waterfront decks in the city. Famous for being the setting of a scene in the movie "There's something about Mary", it has trivia nights, special events and just nice ambiance. We went on Cinco de Mayo since they were offering free tacos with a drink. The tacos were nice soft tacos with ground beef, cheese, lettuce and sour cream. Just for the asking. You can get a beer, cocktail or a non alcoholic beverage and gaze at the growing Providence downtown during the daytime or nighttime. Great setting. read more

I have a soft spot for Hot Club. I started coming here on occasion when I started medical school and it was a nice post-class drink spot. It's right across the river from the school and the hospital and also really close to where I used to live in Fox Point. When the weather is cooperative, I love having a drink out on their deck on the water. They always have at least one or two nice craft beers on tap along with the standard Bud Light and others, their cocktails are decent, and they have some wine too. Most recently, I introduced some fellow residents to the on-the-water Hot Club experience. First time ordering food here but I'd heard the burger was good so I went with that. Really unsure why they asked how I wanted my burger cooked because I said medium-rare and yet it came out well-done... it must have been just past medium-well because it wasn't awfully dry, but that's still comically far off from what I'd asked for. I was so hungry I didn't care all that much and, surprisingly, the meat actually tasted decent so I didn't complain. They had Rolling in the Clouds by Finback on tap, so that helped too. Staff is always friendly and the service is prompt. They've been doing a good job with COVID keeping tables apart, wearing masks, and sanitizing. Also, not sure why it's named Hot Club, but it's not even close to a club (which I don't mind at all). read more

They were breaded poorly, had lots of air around the pickles and we're sweet. Plus the amount of pickles were offensive. Like they insulted my intelligence. The cheeseburger was decent. It had bacon on it, when I didn't request it so that was cool. The drinks is where they meet expectations. Got a Cuban breeze with well vodka, amaretto,pineapple juice. Second drink was Canada Club with ginger ale. The deck area is dope. Great view of river,hurricane wall and breeze off river. They have lots of bottles but some of the stuff is things I would never order like flavored vodkas. I would love if they had mint leaves, maraschino liqueur, and chartreuse. Not sure what I expected from a place called The Hot Club but it's dirty, has bad drinks, and bad food. The bar staff was very nice though.

Probably one of the worst ran establishments I've seen in a very long time, management, bouncers are very rude minus the bartenders they are sweet. Obviously when one is out with a friend and drinking they typically follow their friend to the bathroom, Accidentally following my friend into the men's bathroom and immediately realizing that I was in the wrong bathroom so I walk out right away and then as soon as I know it I'm getting escorted with my friend. Insinuating something was happening that was not the case. I then explained the quick confusion to said bouncer and he paid no mind, just quickly dismissed us. Came here for a quick lunch on the water. For a rainy day I was surprised how busy the place was. I didn't think anyone would be in there, but for a pandemic + rainy day there was a decent amount of people. I got a BLT & my boyfriend got a cheeseburger. We also got mozzarella sticks and fries with our lunch. The menu was very small and consisted primarily of bar food- which was fine but this place has the potential to be a great little spot because the BLT was one of the best I ever had and my boyfriend also said his cheeseburger was delicious! They should expand the menu & it could be a decent little restaurant. The waitstaff and servers here were all really nice and checked on us often. They had some pretty cool restrooms which were also very clean. They had a very beautiful salt water fish tank right near the restrooms and I couldn't believe how well kept and beautiful it was! They had a cool drink menu and even ordered frozen drinks which is nice because their one of my favorites! Overall definitely a neat little spot & I would definitely go back! read more
