I finally checked out Benitos' @ The Hound Lounge on Tunnel Road last night for drinks and dinner. The Hound is just east of the tunnel and it was the former Greyhound Bus station. I was a huge fan of RosaBees and their Chef - Cookie Hadley so it was my goal to try Benito's ASAP. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, my friend Marissa and I sat at the bar and enjoyed some lively chatting with other patrons. If you were familiar with RosaBees in the RAD, the menu will seem familiar, loaded with great choices and creativity. Marissa ordered the Patata's Bravos - Roasted potatoes , olive oils and Bravas sauce - $9. I chose the Big A** Tuna Poke bowl for $22. Toss in one of their special Margarita's and a draft beer we left very happy customers. Check out this hidden gem for some excellent food and drinks. One of the best cocktail lounges in Asheville. They did a great job of renovating a former Greyhound Bus terminal without making it feel too pretentious. The patio is large and one of the nicer outside bar areas in Asheville. They often have live music performed on the patio. The inside is also fairly large and includes multiple spaces: raised tables for standing, tables with chairs and a few couches with coffee tables. The tables are great if you order food from Bonito Kitchen, a fantastic restaurant co-located at The Hound (see separate reviews here on Yelp). We went on a Saturday late afternoon/early evening when they had a live band and it was packed. There was a queue for ordering drinks (and food if you want) at the bar. It moved fast and orderly. The bartenders here are impressive. I watched them making 2-3 drinks at once, with hands flying everywhere. The drinks were excellent. They have one of the better, more innovative cocktail menus in Asheville, as well as beer and wine. Reasonable prices. The Inertia Creeps draft spritzes with aperol, Mandarin orange prosecco and soda were really refreshing on a hot summer day and among the best spritzes we've had. Hello Darkness, made with chocolate nigori sake, mezcal, reposado tequila and amaro was dark and smoky. And Last Dance, made with plantation pineapple rum, cachaca, lime and coconut creme was great in that it was tropical and fruity without being sweet. My Wife and I happened to find The Hound on SB Sunday and it was great! They have a nice informal/comfortable vibe with modern/view-packed surroundings. We met one of the owners, Rob, who was very passionate about the restaurant's history. There's a picture on the wall of the old Greyhound station...pretty cool. And the location is convenient right by the tunnel. If I were a local to Asheville, I would visit here regularly I think. read more

Amazing new neighborhood bar. Beautiful spot, completely renovated. This spot is previously a greyhound bus station location. Now lovingly called The Hound. Gorgeous roll up window around the building to take in mountain air on days when it's nice out. And the patio area is beautiful landscaped. The owners have other service businesses in town. So this place has been crafter with decades of food and beverage experience in mind. Their staff is experienced as well which is wonderful when you want a good drink. I honestly am impressed with how affordable their menu is especially their cocktails. The superior ingredients make this a one of a kind menu with lots of thought. Their staff helped contribute to the list of cocktails and it's a real crowd pleaser. I love the classic cocktail vibes and getting something new. I'll be back for sure. I low this spot. read more

Really nice vibe and excellent patio. The potato slices were great, but the street tacos were way too salty, and they fell apart right away. Obviously store-bought tortilla wrappers with no frying or other prep. read more

What happened!?!? I used to love this unique spot but wow it changed and quickly! I was hosting some out of town guests two weeks ago and told them how incredible this spot was. The service could NOT have been worse and I was beyond embarrassed! One of the female servers didn't even speak a word to us while serving. The male server was also incredibly rude. Asking him a question at the counter, he turned around and walked away not saying a word. Food was close to uneditable and an unfortunate waste of money. For a group of former F&B/hospitality professionals, the decision was not to leave a tip, which we've never done before. Unless something changes with service and food, this local will not be returning. read more

What a wonderful little spot! It's amazing how an old bus station could be transformed into such a gorgeous, welcoming and downright cool bar. Plenty of seating, indoors and outdoors. Service was excellent and the place was filling up shortly after their 4:00 pm opening. Since we arrived just after they opened, it was easy to find a parking spot. When we left about an hour later, the parking was full, and people were parking on the side street. There was a pop-up shop providing the food for the evening, so we did not have any of the items on the Hound's menu. Chef Paul Cressend provided a few dishes that we ordered. The meatballs with the 12-hour gravy were my favorite, deep flavor to the sauce and the perfect portion size. Our table had two drinks, a glass of Sauvignon Blanc (New Zealand) and the Hit the Coast cocktail. Everyone was happy!! Can't wait to go back again soon! read more

Wow! Fantastic hidden gem just outside of downtown. I came here Saturday for a nightcap (round two). This was a quarter mile from my hotel but I drove anyway because I started at Sovereign Remedy first, but Hound caught my eye as I drove past it and I knew I would stop there before heading back to the hotel and I am so glad I did. I had a perfectly pleasant and enjoyable experience sitting at the bar sipping on a bubbly drink (Inertia Creeps - spritz, aperol, mandarin, prosecco, soda, orange peel) and reading my book. The bartender was really nice. It's a well decorated area with plenty of cozy seating options. It was nearly empty on Saturday around 10pm which was perfect for the kind of experience I wanted then! I was really tempted by the potstickers on the menu (they had some other appetizing sounding selections). This is another place I'll definitely return to. Pricewise too, it's great; drinks are around $10-12 and bar bites between $8-10, can't beat that! read more

I decided to have my birthday at The Hound! I called to see if the could accommodate 15-25. They enthusiastically agreed! Everyone ( 21 people including myself) had a great time. The wait staff the patiently served us were great and the food was really good! I felt like I was entertaining in my own home. I had this party on Tuesday! Love this unique spot!! The choice of seating is only surpassed by its eclectic menu, which is very good! I loved that they represented "street food" from other countries! We also enjoyed listening to Reggie play his music. We stayed in Asheville for two months and found ourselves going there often. Highly recommend the Hound for informal gatherings. read more

love the ambiance, the food is now consistent, and Bonita's is delicious and fresh. drinks are nice and creative. the 3 stars is for the several unfortunate experiences we have had w/one of the bar tenders/servers who has been downright rude to myself and friends. We spend a lot of money and tip well and are cheerful and friendly. All other servers are great! I have tried to understand her issue and even ask, but she is hostile, and we have to ask for all service. unfortunately, this ruins the vibe. we will avoid going back. sad, we need more E.side places like this. read more
