Ok first of all this is La Marina (IYKYK) and it seems to be under new management/ownership. Needless to say parking is HORRIBLE so I parked in the garage 2 blocks away. But this visit was prompted by the promotion of The Big 3....DJ Jon Quick was AH MAZING!! Needless to say the vibes were all there. I did make a reservation as to to avoid standing around hungry. What I did love is that there is no time limit to sitting/eating/drinking. I was there for about 2hrs. Now, the food is mid. But let me tell you....so apparently they cooked the food outside and this day is was hella windy so when they brought me my food it was cold. The fish, rice and peas, and plantain. Yuck!! Cold escovitch fish bites. So I sent it back cause, no. So they gave me fresh fish but kept the cold rice and peas and plantain. Sigh. I also ordered the pitcher of piña colada. The best thing about this place is the view. It is located on the Hudson and has a really nice outdoor area with cozy couches throughout the space in addition to tables and chairs to dine at. The service varied quite a bit depending upon the staff member that approached the table. Our party was initially sat outside due to a private event wrapping up inside. It was very cold near the water and we were eventually move inside. Most people liked their food which is basically American fare, however others felt it wasn't the best. Issues like the buns on the burgers were somewhat soggy due to the condiments that were spread on them. My order was slightly wrong but I didn't bother complaining. Great views, terrible service. Went here for my partner's family end of summer gathering. The atmosphere was great and the views were wonderful but we were starving. They were severely understaffed, and overwhelmed. The miscommunication between the staff and host resulted in us waiting over an hour for my meal to arrive. Each order trickled out like molasses. At one point I had to go remind the server of my order and that's when it was finally put in. Once my food arrived it was good overall. I would only go back for drinks, vibes, and view. read more

Location, location, location! I went for brunch today and picked this place after seeing the location on Google maps. I was heading home to CT after partying-it-up in mid-town over the weekend and it was a convenient stop. The location is the best thing about this restaurant. Sitting on the deck with views of the Hudson and GW bridge is quite nice if you don't mind commercial airliners flying above you constantly. I had the chicken sandwich, fries and a cup of coffee. The fries were good...hot, fresh, crisp. The chicken sandwich was meh...the bun crumbled during my first bite. It had plenty of tomato and arugula on it but barely a small dollop of guacamole. I get it...avocados are expensive. The chicken was tasty but a bit dry. My coffee was barely lukewarm...I would have liked a top-off but our server was MIA after our food was ordered until it was time to pay. Our server was courteous but not attentive in the least. You'd see the expansive views at this pier, extending down the Hudson all the way towards downtown and back up towards Westchester and the Palisades, and you'd think to yourself "there's no way anyone could screw this up" to which The Hudson would clearly say "Hold our beer." Service was painfully slow and confused--took about 15 min just to place our order--then just to heighten the tension, the server who finally took our order came over another 10 minutes later not with drinks or an update, but to ask if anyone had helped us yet--yes, you, we had hoped! Ultimately took about 40 minutes for food to arrive (with drinks at same time). We were at least a bit prepared though--each table we were seated between had an issue--one woman didn't get her salad until after everyone else was finished and the bill arrived, and on the other side, they got their app after dinner--in both cases they were comped--but judging by our neighbors faces, the damage was already done. Food was about as bad as I feared--my girlfriend ordered a lobster grilled cheese which somehow just came out cold--untoasted roll, cold cheese... just bad. I fared a tiny bit better, as the lobster bisque was mediocre and the chicken in my Cobb salad had a nice sear, but the lettuce was wilty and tomatoes looked like prepackaged pico de gallo blob or something. And think you could come here just for drinks and views? The sign outside the restaurant advertising "The World's Best Pina Coladas" seemed like a bitter joke. My pina was an off yellow color and terrible--tasted like bottom shelf rum and, I dunno, yellow food coloring over crushed ice. My job rented this place for an event and the food was okay at best (served buffet style), the drinks were watered down (which is understanding since it was a work event), the workers were overwhelmed by the amount of people there but at least they were nice. My favorite part about this place was the view so I feel like I need to come back when it's open to the public to try their made to order food and drinks and get a good sense of the place. The hostess suggested a parking garage 2 blocks away. While I went to the garage, my wife checked in. We came here a couple of times since the switch from La Marina. The first in 2018 was a blast. The second in 2019 was fun today we came in at 6:30 on a Wednesday and the place is empty. Should have left. We ordered two virgin Pina Colada for the kids. They wouldn't drink them. Said they tasted like a cross between Sprite and dishwater. Replaced them with Mountain Dew which was from the fountain and apparently no syrup. For dinner the lobster roll was old and stale. The casino clams has no flavor. You couldn't even taste the bacon. When can you not taste bacon? The mussels were dry and stale. My son had a shrimp boil. The shrimp was still frozen in the middle, the sausage - never saw that consistency before. The Birria tacos were bland and I added salt. Then I pulled a glob of fat out like I've never seen. Finally, mac and cheese. Tasted like milk. This is a fairly new establishment. I remember when this space was La Marina and coming here for a lit Yelp Elite event. The place is just as breathtaking with beautiful views of the Hudson River, lights strewn everywhere, and spacious outdoor seating. The menu is quite extensive, and I was debating between BBQ (ribs, of course) or one of the entrée plates. I finally decided to order a Combination Taco Plate, served with coconut rice and plantains. I selected 2 Shrimp Tacos, and 1 Corn with Mushroom Taco. The Shrimp Tacos consisted of shrimp, corn mango salsa, and avocado crema. This was delicious! The shrimp was plentiful, juicy, tender, and full of flavor. The Corn and Mushroom Taco included cotija cheese, and crema. This was also tasty. The vegetables were wonderfully fresh and cooked perfectly. All the ingredients combined together well to make for yummy bites! I really enjoyed the plantains, which were just the right amount of sweetness, soft, moist, and slightly charred. The rice was also great with strong coconut taste, as well as a nice consistency. My friend had the BBQ Rib Tips, so I got to try some and they were absolutely mouthwatering! These were house smoked and finished with homemade BBQ sauce. They were small morsels of incredibly tender, delightfully succulent, satisfyingly crispy, and deeply flavorful meat! Service was pretty good throughout our time. There were a few mix-ups when it came to the different sushi rolls that were ordered, but our waiter was eager to make it right. We had a lovely experience here. I would be open to returning to have the Coconut Shrimp and Ribs, but it probably won't be for awhile because I live quite far from this restaurant. read more

At long last after fifteen (15) torrid months of a pandemic, lockdown and closings the City of New York is resurfacing to normalcy or at least as close to normalcy as possible. Wary continues. Formerly known as La Marina which closed and re-opened as The Hudson. It is a waterfront lounge and restaurant consisting of very mediocre drinks and substandard detrimental customer service. There was only one measly bar tender name Jose C. to serve patrons and he was busy concocting drinks for other patrons ignoring my party of two until and inevitable ten minutes later. He did not acknowledge my party's physical presence with a simple "hi, how are you? I'll be right with you." After work to chill in hopes of expelling fifteen (15) torrid months of essential work in-person physically at the office, abject frustration, stress, utter anxiety and sheer exhaustion was rated MEH! My co-worker and I ordered: Watermelon frozen Daiquiri - $14.00 Truly a frozen delight which is a good cool down for a day's end of hot humid summer's day. Pina Colada creamy semi frozen - $14.00 Awful! It was not frozen nor served extremely cold and I had to request cherries from the bar tender name Jose C. who does not by default embedded as industry standard. Fresh cherries are part of this alcoholic drink! It was served with one piece of dried stale pineapple, but not fresh. Patrons flock to The Hudson mainly for the view of the Hudson River and the George Washington Bridge, NOT for the food, drink nor customer service. The staff discreetly, I believe, intake the view as well which is a big distraction to their work of servicing customers portraying a substandard detrimental food, drink and hospitality service level. There are abundant outdoor seating of couches, high chairs where patrons can relax and eyes affixed to the view of overlooking Hudson River. No comment on the food as neither I nor my co-worker intake any - as the reviews are accurate. I wither from despond - utter slough of despond. Dismay. Discontent. Disappointment. Not my first time at The Hudson, definitely my first review. The raw oyster were fresh and delicious. My sushi spicy combo was great. The tuna poke bowl was great as well. Highly suggest these three plates. Despite a private event happening at The Hudson, the staff was great, attentive and explained to us in advance that all waiters/waitresses we first to let us know. One of the bartenders went as far as to ask me if I was ok with the food it was too much sushi for me to eat and insisted on talking to the manager to take off the bill. This place used to be called La Marina, everyone still calls it that lol. The new owners got rid of the hookah, the insane parties and all the other bad stuff that had made this place unpleasant after the sun went down. Now what you are left with is a beautiful space with some good food. The menu has a BBQ heavy section, your regular burger type stuff and it also has a sushi section (not sure if they're still serving sushi during covid). They also have some insanely big ice cream sandwiches, I recommend two people share, otherwise you'll be rolled out of there. Came here twice before they closed for the season, the service wasn't 100% smooth, but you can tell they are working hard to work out the kinks. One thing to keep in mind is that there are multiple outdoor areas with different vibes. Right by the entrance (left) that area has some couches and picnic tables with some games in the middle. Towards the back it feels more private and still right by the water. There's another section wayyyy to the back (right of the structure) which feels like a temporary? structure, not sure of the deal there, but the views in this area are obstructed. All that is to say, try to request a table in the two areas with unobstructed views of the river/bridge, the sunset here is amazing! read more

The whole Inwood scene is changing, but one of the best places to chill while enjoying the Hudson's waterview is from their terrace, especially if you're having a nice drink at sunset time. I'm learning that I need to read reviews! Staying in Washington Heights. A friend said this place was lovely and drew a lively crowd. I should have researched it more First warning was on a Friday night, and the place was DEAD. The second issue was the prevalence of bugs. Yes, it's an open air space and bugs are drawn to light, but there are things you do to keep your customers from being covered in flying insects. I mean on the table. Stick to the water bottle. Landing in my hair?! The third issue was the food was horrid. I mean one bite, spit it out bad. This was the calamari. I don't know what that was, but that rubbery horrible tasting stuff was not calamari and not palatable. The two good things were the daiquiri. It was divine. And the view. Otherwise. A wasted trip. This place was my go to dinner option last year. They used to have incredible food, and drinks that were both cheap and strong. The wait was always long for food, but it was worth it. Flash forward one year and the wait is still there, but the food options have been dramatically reduced. They went from delicious seafood boils to chicken fingers. The wait did not improve. I was there on a weekday and it took 40 minutes for our friend to get chicken fingers. The head chef here is definitely a microwave. Maybe I could forgive the horrible food quality if the drink price and quality remained the same. However, I paid $70 (after tax) for a pitcher of frozen margarita that barely had any booze in it. I've been here twice now, once for lunch date with a friend, and once to grab a beer after a long day walking around and exploring the nearby parks. For lunch my friend had the impossible burger, I had the regular beef burger and fries. They were not great - boring and bland. We also had the watermelon Daiquiri and Watermelon Margarita. Both came fast and actually packed a great hidden punch even though a frozen slush based drink. The only reason for losing a star is the service and the app. We waited what seemed a half hour for our appetizers but the drinks came almost instantly. A wonderful spot on the waterfront uptown. I came in the late afternoon with my family, and it was definitely a nice experience. I will note, that if you're sitting outside, seating is first come first served, so you have to be on the lookout for a good spot to open up depending on what you're looking for (there were 3 of us, and we wanted the low couches instead of the picnic table & bench combo. Drinks aren't terrible but they don't even mix the flavors into the frozen drinks just squirt the syrup on there and let you figure it out. Water took 20 minutes to come to the table after we keep asking. Many staff do not understand English even if you just ask for something simple. For the price they charge, they' could've used actual plates, silverware and cups. Nope. Plastic plates, plastic fork and knives that look like they came from KFC, and small plastic cups for water. They did put my lemonade in a dirty glass cup (thank you for that). Perhaps plastic is the better choice if they don't know how to properly wash/clean. The check took another 25 minutes to print after we asked for it. In short, the entire staff is poorly trained (if at all), the food is awful and over priced, and the wait is horrific. All leading to customers not wanting to tip bc of poor service experience (bad management team and work culture). They survive on the price people pay for alcohol. Pretentious and should be shut down. Eventually, I hope someone who actually understands the hospitality business gets a shot at this real estate. read more

We ordered quite few appetizers: Calamari were just okay little greasy to our liking, Kung Pao cauliflower not good at all, very bland Chicken wings pretty decent I think the best out of all things we got Mussels quite good, generously portioned We also ordered drinks daiquiri and margaritas which were really good. If anyone wants an amazing day in New York, I would highly recommended coming to the Hudson, biking up the water and coming here is a great way to have an active beautiful day. When you arrive there are amazing drinks and good food for snacking. As a native New York, this restaurant is part of my favorite activities that I repeat. Michelle, who was an icon and so friendly and amazing in every way, was our waitress and new drinks for the bottomless brunch were brought before we could even finish them as well as water.
