If anyone wants an amazing day in New York, I would highly recommended coming to the Hudson, biking up the water and coming here is a great way to have an active beautiful day. When you arrive there are amazing drinks and good food for snacking. As a native New York, this restaurant is part of my favorite activities that I repeat. Michelle, who was an icon and so friendly and amazing in every way, was our waitress and new drinks for the bottomless brunch were brought before we could even finish them as well as water. Beautiful setting, yes. Food was mediocre and expensive. I'm talking raw carrots, celery, and cauliflower on a salad with plain oil dressing. Smashed burger was fine but didn't come with cheese and they charge you an extra $5 for fries. So-called world-famous piña coladas were like soup (and $15). Bartender was nice, but you pick up your order from a window so no real service. Oh and they take your phone number to call you when the order is ready and within 10 mins I was getting spam messages. I was surprised when I found out that La Marina was closing down and becoming The Hudson. I was a bit hesitant to come here due to the negative reviews, but I actually had a great time and will definitely be returning. The food was as good as it looked, LOL. The portions were great! My salad was fresh... no complaints when it comes to the food. The beers come in a can... ehhh, not cold enough, but okay. The sangria pitcher was refreshing. The pina colada we bought was cute! Okay, so why not five stars? First, there was a dog sitting on top of one of the outdoor sofas. It is very clear that they do not clean the sofas after every sitting, so what about people with dog allergies? The sofas' material traps the dog hair and then the next person just sits on it... not cool. I get that they want to be "pet friendly," but come on... have some limits. Next, I do not like how their billing system works. They take your card at the very beginning and charge your card even before you sign anything. The "manager" (Henry) explained that they do this to place a hold and that they later adjust the pricing because people were walking out on the bill. The issue is... well the issue we had... was that they rang my boyfriend's card three times and the bank showed all of them pending. It took about a week before the two additional/incorrect charges were removed from the bank account. When I was talking to Henry, I asked to speak to a manager because they kept running the card, and the balance kept going down; he responded with a defensive attitude that he was a manager. I suggested that there are other, and probably better, ways to make sure that people do not walk out on a bill. Like many other places in the area, he could get one of those hand devices that allow them to scan everyone's ID. Walking in my first impression was great! Amazing views and overall very instagramable place especially at sunset time. However, when we were seated we weren't served water and there were no utensils or napkins at the table. When we asked for water we were later told that the water was self serve at a tiny station past some table with tiny cups on it which I found odd. When we put in our order with the waitress everything was fine until she asked us to give her a card for the bill so she can keep it in the back while we waited and ate our food. Now I'm not sure if they did this to everyone who dined there but in all of my years eating in restaurants uptown, I've never heard of anybody asking for this and when my boyfriend asked if it was customary, she ignored him and walked away. After that whole thing we just paid the tab and asked for our card back because there was no way we were gonna leave my boyfriends credit card "somewhere in the back" for no reason. Anyway, the food came pretty quickly but when we were served there were still no utensils or napkins given to us! It took 10 minutes to even get a server's attention to even get a fork and when it came I was even more disappointed that they were those plastic utensils that come prepackaged. On top of that, the food was super bland and even worse my boyfriend got food poisoning from the pulled chicken sandwich that ended up having bones in it. Just horrible. I DO NOT recommend this place unless you're taking a pretty picture. Service is bad, food is very mediocre and overpriced. Interesting experience. The space itself is beautiful and very well kept. However the logistics of the place are not great. There are NO WAITERS, like NONE. You order your food, pick it up from a window, and get your own drinks. You are then still forced to pay at least an 18% tip. Why tip when you do the work? I cannot say enough about this spot. I have gone several different times with friends and each time we go, we are welcomed, sometimes even by name, as if we have been going there for years. When we got caught in a rainstorm, the staff rushed us inside and gave everyone free sushi (as if the rain is their fault)! Views are impeccable, food and drinks are delicious, and the staff is friendly and professional. Plus we got to bring our puppy!!! This place has always had so much potential that its current state kills me. I go for the views only. Food is overpriced and nothing special. I did have a lonely chicken sandwich a few weeks ago...nearly $20. Fries would have been $7 extra...so like over $30 for a beyond regular chix sandwich/fries on a paper plate? That's a no. I rather have a lobster roll. Most "service" is self-service. You will order everything but drinks via a QR code and pick it up yourself. At some point, a nice staff member may pass by to get your empty bottles and ask if you want something else. The positive about no one checking for you is that you can enjoy the five star views without harassment. I've met up with a few friends and have had long uninterrupted conversations with beautiful views. That's the best. Otherwise, The Hudson leaves a lot to be desired. Three stars is generous. We've order a starter chips & guacamole and afterwards ordered short rib with Mac & Cheese, the ribs surprisingly really good and the Mac & cheese was a 2 out of 5, well the staff at the entrance was very helpful and polite which informed us that dinning in was for the inside portion and if would finish we can come outside and follow up with the drinks to hangout outside to catch the views which that was great! The place was clean and restrooms were also clean and offered hand sanitizer for the germ freaks I think I'll finish up this write up with photos. read more

Visited The Hudson last Friday night for outdoor dining after being on lockdown for 3 months. It was a lovely evening with great weather and some good drinks and food. You will need to order the food on their website and the food is brought to your table in take away containers. I had the cheeseburger with fries and their salmon/mango roll. Everything was delish and it was just so nice to be outside having drinks and enjoying the view. I had the large pineapple margarita which came in a plastic tiki cup which you are allowed to take home (as nothing can be reused for the time being). Considering the new norm in our world with little or no contact, wearing masks and limited service the waiters and waitresses were kind and attentive! Please make sure to tip your waiter or waitress well, they are risking their lives so we can eat out. Can't wait to go back and explore more items on their menu and support The Hudson. read more

I was thrilled to hear that a new, family-friendly restaurant related to Brother Jimmy's and with a fun looking menu had opened at this lovely waterfront site. I finally had the opportunity to sample everything on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon. First of all, the venue is really, really beautiful. There are stunning views of the Palisades and the GWB and of course, the restaurant's namesake, the Hudson River. The space is very open, airy, clean, and spacious. There is ample seating both outside and in the main indoor area. Ordering is an interesting and fully modernized experience. Each table features a sticker with a URL, a QR code, and a table number. You view the menu, make your selections, plug in your credit card info (including tip), and hit submit. Moments later, a server appears with your beverages, a bucket of utensils and condiments (ketchup, Tabasco, and BBQ sauce), and a roll of paper towels. On our way out, we noticed signage with instructions and we knew what to expect before visiting, but more explicit instructions might be helpful for folks who arrive without knowing what's going on and expecting a hostess and menus. Our food arrived in a timely fashion and at a good temperature. Everything was very tasty. We especially enjoyed the buffalo cauliflower, especially because it seemed to be keto/low-carb friendly and was without breading. Fries were also a standout. As one might expect of a BBQ/seafood spot, there aren't many veg offerings, but we did enjoy the carbalicious mac and cheese sandwich. We had a great experience and will definitely return. *One star and that is solely bc of the views of the Hudson.* This space has the potential to be great but no matter who occupies it I have never had a good experience with the food or the service. The views are great but the food is incredibly mediocre for the high price point they are asking and the service is truly lacking. It is not clear that if you order from the QR code at the table you need to go up to the bar to pick up your order and there are no drinks listed on the QR menu so all drinks need to be ordered at the bar. A server did finally come out to take our order only bc I went inside to inquire about non alcoholic drinks for my son as none were listed on the QR code menu. The food is served on plastic plates (guac and chips and the burger) and cardboard containers (tacos) and silverware is the plastic pre wrapped stuff you get when you are packing a picnic from your local to-go place, not what you'd be expecting to eat with when you shelled out $18 for a very mediocre burger. Drinks came out fairly quickly (and in proper glassware) except for water which did not come until the food came to the table. The cup that my husband's drink was in was dirty on the outside and water was served in plastic cups that, when empty, threatened to blow away in the wind. When it finally came time to settle up the bill we waited a good 25 min for him to bring it (which never happened) and finally got it paid by walking over to him at the bar and handing him my credit card on the way to the bathroom. I really wanted this time around to be better. It would be so nice to have a local brunch spot with that kind of atmosphere but unfortunately like all the other eateries in the area they are relying on bar sales and alcohol to keep them afloat. The staff is not properly trained to run the space as a restaurant and unless some proper training goes into the team I don't anticipate coming back anytime soon and don't recommend it to anyone who wants more than just a place for a cocktail at the bar. read more

They have a gigantic rat that runs around the restaurant and the staff just looks at it and laughs. Their excuse is "we are in a park" but that does not excuse the rat running freely on the INSIDE of the restaurant and them doing nothing about it. That shows how unsanitary and careless they are! The staff is so unprofessional. They didn't even apologize for the rat running freely but instead laughed it off becaue according to them the rat is always there. Ew! They are just okay with that? The rat just lives in the restaurant? And they let it? Imagine what they don't let you see them doing if THIS is what they allow you to see! They should be reported for health violations! read more

The view is GORGEOUS. There is no doubt it's the only thing wonderful about this place. The food was atrocious, I had flashbacks of public school lunch meat. My skirt steak was over cooked, i asked for for medium, it was medium well and all the seasoning was on the outside only. And texture was rubbery. The mashed potatoes were disgusting, tasted like a box mix. My companion ordered the burger and the potato bread bun is what saved the dry ass beef patty that was also over cooked than what was ordered, medium well burger when medium rare was ordered. The fries did not look appetizing at all and I didn't try them. The drink I ordered, the playa azul was the second best thing to the amazing view from the restaurant seating area. I hope the food quality improves, they have no right to charge 30 dollars for school lunch meat steak and $25 for a nasty ass burger. I really wish I could give this place 3.5 stars. I would give it 5 stars in ambiance! The place does not look like it is in New York city. All the tables and umbrellas outside are super cute and it is just sooo nice to be right on the water. It really is the perfect summer spot! The drinks I would give 3.75 stars. The pina coladas are amazing but super filling! So beware if you get a pitcher it is almost like a meal. But would 10/10 recommend them they are super yummy. I forgot the other name of the drink I got but it was much too sweet. Their cocktails are definitely on the sweeter side, so if that's your jam that this is a great place but for those of us who that is not that jam, make sure you ask for it not sweet! The food I would give 3 stars. The fried cauliflower was delicious but everything else was weirdly expensive and just okay. This is definitely a place to go for drinks and apps but not for a full meal. Tough review. Quick summary : Views and venue 4.5/5 Service 1.5/5 Had been here before when it was called La Marina- it's a beautiful venue on the Hudson at the tippy top of Manhattan. There are several areas, main restaurant indoors, outdoors, a side venue often used for weddings or parties and a sort of casual outdoor bar area with games. It's also next to a small marina where you can dock your boat if you have one. We ordered guac and chips, shrimp tacos, shrimp po'boy, Mac and cheese, and shrimp platter, plus drinks. Food was decent, presentation was nice, guac was slightly spicy with a hint of cilantro, shrimp were plump. Shrimp plate was a bit strange- they basically brought out like 20 fried shrimp on a wooden board, zero sides or salad or garnish etc - strange as this was twice the price of the other stuff we ordered and they came with fries or salad. The service ... we basically sat there for 30 mins before we had anyone come round- by then we were totally ready to order everything and did so. Twice people then wandered out with stuff which wasn't for us, and food took ages. After another eternity we had to ask for our drinks and some water. Server apologised. We realized how long everything was taking and we had to meet someone so we asked for the check as soon as the food arrived. Check came promptly, but then no one picked up the card for another 20 odd mins. Meanwhile there was background Latino style music, which varied between pleasant and unbearable. It was as if there was a designated playlist, and every now and again a drunken toddler would hijack the sound system and blast some upbeat crazy song at volume 99, and the speakers would distort, unbearably loud, could not hear anything else, then 5 mins later back to normal sound volume. Weird. I was with my kids and my 10 year old told me I needed to write a review. He said I should write view 9/10, service and music 1/10. The view is spectacular, great outdoor space and views of the Hudson and the George Washington bridge. The food is not bad and prices are fair given the location. Management just needs to figure out more clearly what they are trying to do and make sure basic stuff like giving someone water in less than 45 mins gets done, food goes out more promptly, and servers check in on tables. read more
