For starters the condos are conveniently located on El Paso's West Side - close to pretty much every amenity you might need and just a 10 min drive to downtown. The condos sit right up next to the Franklin Mnts, with hiking trails practically right outside the front door. The unit was carefully stocked with all of the basics - including in unit laundry, just about every kitchen utensil you can imagine, and of course furniture, linens, etc. A desk and office in one of the bedrooms worked exceptionally well for me when working from home. The grounds are well maintained, well lit at night, and the folks I met who were permanent residents were overwhelmingly friendly and courteous. In addition to all of this there were several instances where I needed help from Bob or Carolyn - recommendations for certain things, or help letting family in the unit when they were visiting and I wasn't able to be there to meet them. Bob and/or Carolyn were always happy to assist if they were able. They were also always up for a friendly chat about salsa, local restaurants, tennis, or just about anything. I truly felt like we became friends during the short time I stayed at Camelot. I can't recommend these units enough for a short or medium term stay. I also can't recommend or thank the owners Bob and Carolyn enough for making my stay in El Paso about as good as it could have been : )

I honestly had no idea what to expect from…read morethe Pelham House; I had obliged to be the DD for several of my parents' friends for their Christmas dinner; a quaint little adobe home from the outside, this "bed and breakfast" location is absolutely stunning and gorgeous (especially by NM standards). There is the magazine, "Ventanas," which typically highlights several beautiful homes around the southwest (reminds me of the national equivalent, "Frontgate," on a much lesser scale). Decorated for the Christmas season, the Pelham House would have every right to be featured in Ventanas with its cozy and impressive interior decorating (I'll upload some pictures later). Every little ornate detail in the house was executed to near perfection. I wanted to take home all of the glassware/stemware! The decorating in the house is among the best I've ever seen anywhere. In addition to this, the rooms throughout the house are definitely worth the visit. There is a large atrium in the very center of the home, capable of seating many patrons. I saw two different bedrooms, each with their own southwestern flair. There is also a game room and, of course, a cozy den! Since we came for just dinner, our stay lasted approximately 3 hours. TIP: Bring your own booze. They do not have a liquor license, but they are apparently allowed to serve a "Welcome drink." While I had some particularly delicious iced tea all night, our friends were greeted with a nice holiday cocktail-- I was told that last time they were served some tasty bellinis. Carol and Robert were exceedingly hospitable-- Carol acted as our waitress for the night and we were always attended to and had everything we needed. In addition, CC is a very talented chef. We were also welcomed with an hors' d'oeuvre consisting of a delectable baked wheel of Brie, accompanied by sliced mushrooms, whole jalapenos, slices of bread, and a clove of garlic. I could not get enough of this! I may or may not have spoiled some of my dinner with eating such copious amounts of this delicious starter... We started our 4-course dinner with a must-have soup: southwestern corn chowder. A perfect level of spicy kick balanced with the sweet corn made for a true winner. We followed this wish a refreshing salad served on a frozen plate (I love little details like this). The salad was dressed in a champagne raspberry vinaigrette with a dash of honey. Also a winner! The main course consisted of sliced pieces of tender pork, red-skin mashed potatoes, and cubed roasted butternut squash. Overall, a good dish. Dessert was a Mexican chocolate cake complete with a heavy amount of homemade candy-cane ice cream. For everything, the total came to ~$53 per person. I found this to be very reasonable as the food was far above average and the ambiance of the home is perfect. Why 4 stars and not 5? Well, the friend of ours that coordinated the whole dinner had specifically requested two of the dishes had to have chicken as the entree (they cannot eat pork/red meat). All of the dishes came out, and there was no chicken to be found. Our friend had told us that she specifically mentioned this on the phone more than once. TIP: Get it in writing via email. Bottom line? Downright gorgeous venue, fantastic homemade food, and a delightful ambiance that will encourage you to want to come back for more.

We have family in El Paso to stay with, but absolutely cannot pass up an opportunity to keep coming back to Embassy. This trip was sadder than most as we were dealing with second funeral this year . A huge shout out to the night (manager?) concierge Cynthia Martin, she was the nicest most sincere person, but she truly made the hotel welcoming when we got in at 3 AM. Everybody at Embassy suites is very nice, but Miss Martin truly went out of her wayto express her condolences. We had a great time at the pool and enjoy our breakfast every morning but again Cynthia Martin really went above and beyond to make us feel welcome.

It's off the beaten path but super easy to find. And the place is gorgeous! You feel like you're far away from any city and the views are breathtaking. The owners set a door code for you that opens the front door and your room. A welcome book details everything you need to know about the house and the area. Everything is very user friendly. The kitchen is stocked with snacks, coffee, sodas and water with room to refrigerate or prepare anything else you would like. The bedrooms are spacious and comfy. They have everything you might need for your stay. The owners invite you to share their second story patio and you can't beat the company or the views. This place makes you feel at home away from home. We will be back on every single visit!!

A man who claimed he was the owner, instead of saying "Thanks for letting me know, I'll let my customers know to be careful," went on to berate my friends and call them "fake Indians"... "because all the real Indians are dead". He then threatened my friends by telling them he was going to get his gun from his truck and shoot it into the air. There is obviously very wrong with this man who doesn't respect people or the land he he is making his money off of.

The parts of Juarez I saw on the drive from the airport and the area I stayed look decent. But by…read moreno means did I translate that to safe. But compared to Mexico City, Juarez is so much cleaner and nicer looking. Locals I crossed all said that all the violence shown in the news is located in the center of town which is no where near this area. I saw no signs of problems. I didn't venture out a lot, but I did walk to the stores just across the street from our hotel a couple of times. Hotel choices right by the embassy were plentiful. And I do mean right by it. Next door, across the street... within one or two blocks there had to be 20 hotels. Big chain hotels and little hotels. I looked carefully at most hotels in the area on sites like TripAdviser, Google Ratings, Yelp, Orbitz and others before I chose. I chose one a little further away, reasons listed below. A ton of restaurants around including Denny's, Applebees, Wing Nuts, Little Caesars and other familiar restaurants, as well as a million local joints and the oh-so-tasty street vendors. Right across the street there are 10 restaurants. The hotel I chose and why... I stayed at the La Quinta Inn that was about 3/4 a mile away from the embassy. There were a lot of hotels closer but this had some of the better reviews and things I thought important. I chose this hotel because it had a pool, a gym, a hot tub, guest laundry, free breakfast, in room fridge and microwave, free wifi, in room coffee and more. That has made the stay of "staying in my hotel a lot" much more pleasant. Also, I opted to get the suite (a bedroom and living room), it was just $10 more a night and very worth it! I averaged about $80 a night that I was there. Also, the hotel was gated, security guard at the gate 24/7. In addition to all this, the hotel offered a shuttle to the airport, to all of my appointments, the embassy, the border, to DHL/FedEx locations, local restaurants and shopping centers. Anywhere I needed to go, they took me. When I was ready to come back, I called and they picked me up within 15 minutes or so. Having a microwave and fridge with a ride to the grocery store cut costs on eating out, though I ate out a lot anyway just because I love the local flavor. In addition, it cut the need to go out. Then of course, the free breakfast in the morning helped a lot to. The breakfast wasn't just a continental style breakfast, but rather eggs, potatoes, beans, fruits, cereals, juices, milk, yogurts, coffee, quesadillas and more. It also changed a bit each morning. The hotel was clean and nice with daily room cleaning service. Beautiful and well kept with the staff more than willing to help any way they can. They bent over backward for me. They also had room service for dinner with most meals running around 70 to 100 pesos (not a bad price at all considering it was room service and 100 pesos translates to about $6.50 American dollars.) Almost everyone here was staying here for a consulate visit or business with the embassy. A very large grocery store was about a 5 minute walk, 1 minute drive up the street. It was a chain store called S-Mart. Never seen one before but they are all over here. Prices for everything., since it is a border town, were just slightly lower than what I'd pay in Utah but not really a significant difference. The hotel has a small sundry shop with minimal necessities in it and a few drinks, including a limited choice of beer. Rooms also have an iron, ironing board, hair dryer, work tables, plug in and wifi internet (free) and a closet with hangers. A note, rooms with fridges: turn your fridge on as soon as you get there. They turn them off to save energy so don't just assume it's cold and put your goods in it. I had to make some copies, which they kindly helped me out with. Laundry tokens were just under 100 pesos but that included soap, dryer sheet and the washer and dryer. The gym was well equipped, never crowded. I'd stay here again in a second and never look elsewhere. My flight arrived in Juarez at 8AM, knowing that check in time usually is much later than that I called the hotel in advance and asked about the possibility of checking in early. The assured me they would do every thing they could but could not guarantee anything. I was here by 9 AM, checked in at the front desk where the clerk told me no rooms were available yet but I they could secure my luggage and I could help myself to the hotel facilities, including a very much needed breakfast and coffee. By 11 AM, they had a room ready for me. Just amazing service. Especially for a hotel that gets booked solid probably every day, they could turn away people and still be full. Simply, the best service oriented hotel I've ever stayed at. I've stayed at well over a hundred hotels so that's saying a lot. It isn't the fanciest, doesn't have the biggest (or warmest pool), no plush bar or restaurant on the bottom floor; but it has everything you need and service, good service.

They were unable to take us to the airport due to our flight being in the morning. They would take sometimes up to an hour to pick us up or be available to take us somewhere which was understandable. It was convenient having the transportation though. The good thing is that the medical clinics provide transportation as well. They will also provide transportation to pick up the medical exam results. The breakfast was great. They provided a traditional Mexican breakfast with beans along with scrambled eggs and ham or hot dog almost everyday. There was also another main dish served that varied from chili with potatoes and meat from chilaquiles. There was also sweet Mexican bread, fruit, yogurt, milk, juice, coffee, and tea. Having a microwave and mini fridge was also very convenient. There are a few places to eat across the street and Wal-Mart is walking distance. The lady, Carmen,who cleaned our room was very friendly and was great at providing information about the city. We felt very safe in our hotel and in the city. There are many other people going for their visa interview and many of them are willing to share their experiences or provide advice.
