I've really enjoyed most of the Human Bean locations, and this one I go to the most frequently. I've been back and forth between 4 and 5 stars just because the caffeine consistency is sometimes different with their matcha's. I've tried most of their signature drinks and they are all pretty yummy, with some being more sweet than others. My go-to for awhile was their iced matcha drink. It has a really good and smooth flavor without sweetener. It's delicious, but depending on who makes it will determine how strong it is. I got used to it being on the strong side and when I asked, that's because some people like the darker green of the drink when there's more matcha. A couple of times I got a very light green drink and when I asked for more matcha, they did so with no issues. I appreciate for newer people signing up for the app when there's a 450 bean reward (~equivalent to one free drink). You get a free birthday drink and Human Bean will occasionally come out with seasonal drinks that can be tasty. They also try to support a lot of charities, usually aligning their profits for the day for the relevant charity (eg. October for breast cancer awareness). The food is also pretty decent. The bagels are my favorite but they also do a spicy breakfast biscuit sandwich and chocolate and blueberry muffins. read more

The drinks are good, they have definitely come up in price. I use to like coming here because they had good drinks and they were less expensive then Starbucks, not anymore. After a well needed brow appt. I hit this coffee spot because it was in the same parking lot. I believe I got an Irish Cream. I honestly had to wait sooo long to drink because it was so incredibly hot. It also didn't taste like anything but milk. The barista was so nice and patient with us, that it made us want to come back here again and again. Their Americano is as good as any I've ever tried. The group of staff members working on the morning of 3/27/25 do not work well together. We waited 35 minutes in the drive through with only 2 cars ahead of us... just to find that the drink I order multiple times a week had WAY too much syrup in it. I'm unable to drink it. Waste of precious time and money. I would advice the manager to not allow that group of girls to work together moving forward. Wow, how have I not heard about this place before? I stumbled upon this place with some friends after trying to go to a (very disappointing) carnival. But this saved the day! The staff was super friendly, happily explaining all their options to us. The little walk up is cute and the options have a good variety from regular coffees, smoothies and fun flavors. The best is that you can pick iced, hot or blended for no additional charge! I love a good blended coffee, so I tried the snowy mocha - their version of a white chocolate mocha with ghiradelli chocolate. I hate super sweet drinks (Starbucks Frappuccinos are a little too much for me), but this drink was nicely balanced where you get some chocolate but still get a good coffee flavor. My friend said the same about her blended Mexican coffee. The pricing was fair for the size. Best part: you get a delicious little chocolate covered coffee bean on top! Extra coffee flavor! My first time visiting the Human Bean and I gotta say, it was a good one! We were out running errands and wanted coffee and decided to give this place a go because it had a drive thru and was a local/small business. Ordering was easy peasy. The menu isn't overwhelming, which is really nice. I did have to ask about their milk alternatives because they aren't listed on the menu (no biggie); they offer oat, almond, soy, and coconut. The barista was outgoing and friendly when we pulled up to the window and promptly had our order. I went with a snowy mocha with oat milk. My husband had a iced coffee with a splash of almond milk. Both were delicious. They added a chocolate covered espresso bean to the lid of each drink, which was such a nice little touch and something that really sets them apart. If you like these, you can also buy small bags of them to take home and enjoy. Careful, though, they're addicting!! I've now been to several of their locations throughout the area and the coffee, service, and friendliness is consistent. I'm being generous with my stars today! I am an avid fan of human bean and I go here to this location pretty much on a daily basis! I love to mix and match my coffees and try all the new flavors! My main obsession is that I love how great the baristas are and the manager is amazing! However, Over the last two weeks, I've noticed a change! This morning was no exception! I've never been treated so rudely at this location! The barista was angry when I asked for my coffee to be steamed, then upcharged me from my normal cost, and pretty much threw my coffee out the window when it was ready! This location is on my way to work and I have definitely taken advantage of that a time or two now. No matter how buys the line, the service is always fast and friendly. They have a great selection of hot or iced beverages to choose from so no matter what you are craving they have something to satisfy your craving. Was recommended to the human bean by a coworker of mine. At the time I was pregnant and only drinking decaf. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. I ordered the iced snowy mocha which is comparable to an iced white mocha at Starbucks. The taste was delicious not overly sweet or watered down. Third time to Reno and I'm so glad I found The Human Bean!! I'm a huge fan of supporting local businesses and small business owners. This little drive thru was a treat this rainy morning. We drove through for lattes after eating breakfast across the way! We were treated by a very friendly face and warm cheerful barista staff. They were so kind and had great customer service. We paid and received our coffees which were excellent! My latte was smooth and didn't taste like over roasted beans. This is my all time favorite coffee shop in Reno! So good!!! Drinks: the Human Bean has a variety of hot and cold beverages. I love the Bob Marley which is a hot mocha with a shot of banana. I tried the vanilla granita for the first time and fell in love! It's a frosty iced coffee. Both are so good you don't need to add sugar for taste. They also serve drinks with a chocolate covered coffee bean. Cool twist to their products. Oh! And they have a secret menu. You can ask to see it but as a warning, it's a long, overwhelming list or you can try it slowly by ordering their specials. Price: decent price considering the quality of coffee you get. Definitely worth its value. Customer service: great! Everyone I've encountered is super friendly and a hard worker. I typically order my coffee by standing at the window rather than use the drive by window and I see the baristas hustle making coffee because it can get busy. This location is definitely the busier of the two locations in Reno, but I like that it is close to a few of my favorite food joints in town, and not too far from all the popular shops/businesses on South Virginia St. Especially in times like these, I am super thankful that The Human Bean is a drive-thru coffee shop! The staff are always friendly when I pull up to order, and the service is usually quite fast. I like the fact that they use sip lids and sell reusable straws, too, to help reduce plastic use. They even have a convenient way of paying through their own app to encourage "touch-less transactions"--simple layout, easy to use, and you can earn extra rewards on Wednesday's or by referring friends to use the app! For their coffee, I do think that their espresso drinks have a stronger caffeine flavor, compared to the more common chains like Starbucks or Dutch Bros. They also have smoothies, teas, Italian sodas, and rotating specialty drinks, all that can be topped with a yummy chocolate covered espresso bean! 3.5 stars for the coffee, but 4 stars for the convenience, awesome staff, and being an alternative to Starbucks. The Human Bean is a little drive-thru coffee shop offering all your basic customizable coffee, tea, and steamer needs. They also have little sammies and yummy shakes and smoothies, as well as a happy hour with 50% off drinks (I think it's 11:00-1:00, but don't quote me on that). The gals here are so nice, and I love the candied espresso bean they give you with your drink. Because they have a drive-thru on both sides of the shop, they're able to work through their busy lines pretty quickly. The drinks are a little sweet and weak imho, but they're tasty and I like coming here. I do wish they had a veggie sammie, though. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit the Human Bean, but if you live or work in South Reno, it's a good little coffee shop to frequent. read more
