3.5 stars for the coffee, but 4 stars for the convenience, awesome staff, and being an alternative to Starbucks. The Human Bean is a little drive-thru coffee shop offering all your basic customizable coffee, tea, and steamer needs. They also have little sammies and yummy shakes and smoothies, as well as a happy hour with 50% off drinks (I think it's 11:00-1:00, but don't quote me on that). The gals here are so nice, and I love the candied espresso bean they give you with your drink. Because they have a drive-thru on both sides of the shop, they're able to work through their busy lines pretty quickly. The drinks are a little sweet and weak imho, but they're tasty and I like coming here. I do wish they had a veggie sammie, though. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit the Human Bean, but if you live or work in South Reno, it's a good little coffee shop to frequent. read more

I have only ordered one thing from this place and it is the frozen hot chocolate and MAN... is it good! It is the perfect blend of chocolatey goodness and that sweet velvet texture. I will have to try their other drinks next time and see how they match up as well and provide an update. The service there is usually very fast and the baristas are very friendly and I really like that they give you a chocolate covered coffee bean with your order. Great drive through coffee. I think it's better than some local shops. Fast order and pick up. They give your a little treat when you order. You can customize the drinks or pick one from the menu. They have other options for none caffein like lovers. They have teas and smoothies. There is a singular table with two seats in front if you want to relax on a good day. They have Windows on both sides for ordering and pick up. Some people park their cars and walk over to the drive up window. That's an option if you don't want to sit in the car. The Best Coffee shop in the West! First tried it in Arizona, we ordered the Java Chip - which is really good btw. Goes well with the Chocolate Coffee bean. The smoothies/protein drinks are all thumbs up for me. I like their app/reward system too; You earn $5 credit for every $55 you spend. Now, currently in Northern Nevada, I'm glad they do have it here in Reno! - The Irish Cream Breve is the new favorite. I do hope they add more stores around the West Coast. read more

Even though the Human Bean is a bit further from my work, and thus requires me to go kind of out of my way, they have become pretty much my go-to coffee spot for my morning commute. It's so nice to have places like this to get coffee, without mountains of food or logoed paraphernalia, and where you can just get your drinks and can carry on about your day. It may just be me, but I think there might be more places like this in general popping up compared to larger coffee shops. Coffee is brewed fresh, and I have never had a really bitter or burnt-tasting cup like I've experienced at larger coffee chains. Menu is of moderate size, but with a very good range of selections, and they usually have a few grab-and-go snacks for sale on the window ledge, too. Prices are much better than some other places, and I relish the fact I can get my morning joe still for only a couple dollars and change. And the service here is great! The staff get your orders up in very quickly and are always cheery and helpful. Plus, the little extra touch with the chocolate-covered coffee beans with your drinks always draws a smile from me. It's the little touches like that which stand out to me. Whether for your commute, or just for an anytime pick-me-up, you certainly cannot go wrong at the Human Bean. read more

I absolutely love their coffee. One of their locations is super close to my job so I always end up stopping by before work (I should probably NOT go everyday but I can't help it.) Usually I get their protein drink with coffee or their Irish Creme Breve which are ALWAYS amazing but this time I asked them for a suggestion to try something new. I told them I wanted a type of iced coffee that was sweet and she made me a Snowy Iced mocha. I think that's what she said but it was great. Ok I am more than happy to make this my first review of the new year. This location is about 3/4 of a mile from where I work and it's now my go to coffee shop.m for one reason alone, I'll tell you why.... at the end. I'm not a latte or cappuccino drinker I like simple black coffee with cream and sugar. I love that they serve muffins from My Favorite Muffin because they are delicious and my favorite. The breakfast sandwiches are amazing I always get the sausage and cheese very tasty. But out of all this I have to say the service is without a doubt the best thing. I drove by today and was helped by Jocelyn (hope I spelled it right) and she had the friendliest personality and chatted with me enough to make me feel really welcome even as she was busy and helping more than one person. Most recently I was served by an employee named Cameron at the Longley/S McCarran location. The friendly service she was provided exceeded my expectations. This one happens to have a lot of truth to it though because lets face it, none of us are human until we've ingested that precious bean in the morning, and that transformation occurs again sometime in the afternoon too! And that's exactly what brought me to the Human Bean today. I had just spent the afternoon stocking up on swag in my storage unit and needed something cool and caffeinated to carry me through the day. I had received a mailer for this little drive thru coffee stand and, knowing it was on my way home, I stopped in to get my fix. The building was very clean, and I loved the fact the window was merchandised with a cute basket of branded cups and a clean and easy to read menu board. The staff was very friendly and helped me pick out an iced Mexican mocha, and she even put less of the sweet flavoring in to get me a richer coffee experience. I got a 20 oz drink and it was also nice to see that they actually put more coffee in larger drinks vs. just fill the cup up with milk at some others. The drink hit the spot and the experience was fast and efficient. It was actually my first time going thru a drive thru coffee kiosk type shop, and I think I'd gladly do it again in the future. read more

There are so many things I love about The Human Bean, that I don't know where to begin! The cute little hut with two windows for quicker drive-up service. The simple menu with reasonable prices. The smiling faces from the various servers I meet, depending on the day. The delicious drinks made with so many options; hot, iced, blended; choices of soy, rice, almond, or regular milk; 8, 12, 16, or 20oz; and all kinds of flavors, many with sugar-free options. And they all come with a chocolate covered espresso bean! They offer a customer loyalty punch card, buy 10 get the 11th free (up to 20oz)! They do specials from triple punch Tuesdays every other Tuesday when you say the secret phrase (they post it on Facebook), double punch Wednesdays, Happy Hours from 5-9pm when all 16oz beverages are just $2 each! They offer oatmeal and pastries throughout the day. They participate in causes and within the community, like supporting breast cancer research, the Local Food Bank, and Earth Day! I used to work in South Reno and had HB twice a week. I love the iced snowy mocha. Today I stopped in and got one for me and a peppermint mocha for my hairstylist. Mine was great but you'll have to go down to the Double Diamond Great Clips and ask Erica how hers was. I wish you would open a location up near MacCarran and Mae Aanne. I wish that they had a cafe inside where you could sit and enjoy your coffee. But, it is only a drive thru, which can be nice on your way to work. They give you a little chocolate-covered espresso bean with your beverage. That was a delicious edition to my coffee. I ended up ordering an iced coffee since it was a nice day outside. The Zucchini muffin from My favorite Muffin was delish and so warm and I don't know where they got these amazing Bagels but the are also Devine and warm and soft in the middle - very fresh. I ordered a Chai smoothie but I tasted no Chai at all. Will give them a 2nd chance though. Ordered on Doordash and it took over an hour and I am barely a mile away. Unfortunately 4 out of the 6 times I've gone there they've messed up my drink order because they don't write the order down! The young lady working the drive through had the type of customer service you'd receive at a four seasons. She was the sweetest gal and she KNEW HER BUSINESS. My fiancé are visiting close friends from California & we're craving something sweet, yet something coffee-y that wasn't a large chain that we could grab at home, and we spotted this cute little place & had to pull in. While my regular order at any coffee shop is an Americano, yet their Granita's looked too good to pass up! My fiancé ordered a Pina Colada Italian Soda with Whip Cream. The best Italian Soda & Granita we have ever had. The service here is more than incredible. The drinks are very reasonably priced and worth every single penny. Never wanted them to end!! Our pups even got a treat, which they were over the moon to accept from the wonderful barista! If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I would in a heartbeat!
