I went to the Roost twice last week. It was hard at first since I didn't see the flavors and felt a bit rushed to order(not by the staff but by the eager drives behind me). I did a control drink- 16 oz cold brew with hazelnut syrup and a splash of almond milk. The coffee had a nice roast and the hazelnut tasted like Monin syrups which are my favorite. The second time I had a strawberry spiced chai a barista recommendation. The chai is flavorful and the strawberry was a nice touch. The drinks are reasonably priced and a great pit stop when running errands. It does get busy during school drop off and pick up times , so I try to go between that time. read more

The Roost remains my favorite local coffee shop and I'm not a coffee drinker. My favorite order is a chai latte. It's always the right temperature, smooth, creamy, and just enough chai spice to make it yummy. Their employees are always cheerful and helpful,as well as, my granddaughter's love getting their Italian sodas as a special treat on Saturdays. We usually frequent the kiosk in the village shopping center because it's convenient to my home. My daughter swears by their coffee and some of their other specialty drinks, and she should know , having been in the Coffee business for about 12 years. We enjoy their decorations around the holidays and as the seasons change. They also offer a drink card if you buy 10 selections, you get one for free. Not many places are giving anything away for free anymore, so I love this perk. read more

This is a drive-thru coffee stop for your convenience, but you can also walk-up to the window and order. First time and I have to say my coffee was really good. I had the Sugar Cookie Egg Nog Latte. It was on the sweet side, so I would ask for less syrup pumps next time. Super cute and excellent customer service. I would definitely come back if I am in the area. read more

I arrived at almost 10 in the morning, and they had lines of vehicles at either direction going West and East. The walk up place was also busy but they took care of people right away. They took care of everyone with fast precision. They're smart, courteous, and kind. They made Me two drinks and they were good! I highly recommend this place read more

I love supporting local coffee shops. Roost has been my favorite as it is close by, the coffee is amazing, and the girls are always friendly and fun to chat with. My favorite drinks from here are simple. A 24 oz Cold brew, or a 24 ounce Iced Americano and I am good to go! I am hoping more locals will support here still once the new spot that I will not name is going to open across the street! read more

Love this place! I just moved to this area of town, and have been stopping by nearly every morning for my large black coffee, splash of cream. They are the only other place I know of open before 0600 aside from Starbs, and I prefer to give my money to these types of places instead of giant corps. Very friendly staff and great coffee. Double sided drive up windows for quicker service, too! read more

I've heard around town that this coffee is a favorite. My favorites have been elsewhere but I was determined to try. I like the price point and the staff is nice. It's a drive thru so not the ambiance I'm seeing but with a variety of a menu it's worth trying. It's cute and has like supporting the local businesses. You won't regret your trying and you please tell me your favorite menu item cause the Red Bull Italian soda I tried was unique compared to my vanilla latte. read more

I noticed this coffee shop when I was at a bakery nearby recently and decided to come back to try it! I'm a big fan of drive thru coffee shops right now since I have a newborn and it's easier to just stay in the car with her while I get coffee. This one is located in a shopping mall parking lot, so there's plenty of room to pull in and get in line. They were pretty busy but the line moved quickly! The drive thru menu looked pretty standard, so I asked if they have any specialty flavors. The girl working was super helpful, she asked what I usually like then offered some recommendations. I went with their current special which was a latte with cinnamon and brown sugar. It was delicious! I also love their coffee cups which say "life is too short for bad coffee." I have a friend who firmly believes this, so it was fun to see someone agreed enough to add it to a cup! The baristas were friendly, prices were standard, and coffee quality was great. I'd recommend having a list of your flavors or current specials visible from the drive-thru window, it might save the baristas some effort from having to explain those things to customers. In the meantime, I'll check Instagram for current specials and plan to come back again soon! read more

I had never tried this drive up spot before and my daughter had shared that she always hits this place up before she leaves town on a visit. We were out and about the day after Christmas and I wanted to try it finally after passing it by hundreds of times, it's in the local strip mall closest to our home. They have 2 drive up windows on either side for service, we both ordered our favorites and waited for a very short time. They had it decorated super cute for the holiday season. Love that. The only negative is mine was warm not hot. I just waited until I got home to warm it up and it was deliciousness! I will go again but order extra hot next time! read more

I came here to get a coffee and this is not a place to get a coffee in a hurry & I wasn't in a hurry at all. Was in line for about 15-20 mins behind 2 cars. But was patient. Had no where to be but what reallllly did it for me is when it's finally my turn the girl that took my order wasn't the friendliness but whatever. after she gets my order she immediately gets on her phone, for a call and was laughing on it, I can SEE her while the other girl looks like she is working her butt off because she has the other line that is packed. But my girl looked like whatever so because I felt so DISRESPECTED I got ahold of her by waving at her and told her just never mind. Not like she had even STARTED my coffee. It was mostly the disrespected, like my time didn't matter. read more

The Roost has become my favorite coffee spot in Reno! This convenient little drive through is more than what meets the eye! They have two drive through sides and a walk up window, which we like to use when grabbing a coffee and going for a walk. The baristas are always pleasant and never seem stressed despite the long line that sometimes builds up during peak hours. My dog also loves coming here because they always give him a yummy chicken jerky treat! One day they recommended a honey lavender latte and I've been hooked on it every since! It's such a unique combination of flavors, so I highly recommend! read more

Whether Starbucks or a local chain, food safety is required for a reason. Went on 9/2 and watched the blonde baristas long hair go in the ice bin and customer cups while she made drinks. This is why having your hair up in an establishment that serves food is required. read more

I love The Roost! First, it's so convenient to have a coffee drive through - but The Roost also has a few little tables in front, in case you want to stick around and sip your drink (in a parking lot). I feel like there aren't as many good coffee shop options in NW Reno as in Midtown so this is especially appreciated. The drinks are great and proced pretty much along the lines of the norm in Reno, I think. A 16 oz. latte is $4.06 (hot or iced, both delicious!). I mostly get lattes or cold brew and look forward to exploring some of the "fancier" blended drinks and stuff. I do think it's kinda weird that cold brew is minimum $4.75 but who knows. They do charge (varying amounts) extra for milk alternatives - so depending on your choice, it may get pricier (none is more than .70 extra, I don't think). They do have a bunch to choose from, so that's a plus. I also haven't tried the baked goods, but they sound tasty, and I don't have kids but love the concept of having a kids menu (like smoothies, hot chocolate and stuff). Service is always great and pretty fast! I usually go at kinda off hours so I imagine that they may get backed up during morning rush hour but all I know is that they make my drinks quickly and they're great! read more

I love The Roost!! So does my dog, she always gets lots of love and treats when we visit this spot. I love their cold brew or chocolate cream cold brew when it's hot out; they also make a delicious dirty chai. I always appreciate the decorations for all of the different times of year. There's usually a line but that's how you know it's good! read more

I'm obsessed with the vanilla chai latte at the roost, I get it at minimum once a week, sometimes more. I don't even really like chai tea much but something about the chai at the roost is so addicting. My customer service is always really good. The girls are all so nice and even when the line is backed up it goes pretty quick. You can tell this is a small business and it's nice to support, compared to the bigger chains like Starbucks and Dutch. They even have blended chocolate milk which is very interesting to me, but cool for the kids! I love the roost and will be back for forever! read more

Arguably the best coffee in Reno! All of the coffee here is to die for but there aren't many coffee shops that can rival a roost white mocha! They haven't the nicest baristas in town as well! Sometimes it may take a while to get through the drive through line but it is always worth the wait! read more

*** This is for the quick service location in Billage Shopping Center on California Ave, not listed on Yelp!*** I don't usually expect much from drive through coffee stores. They're normally cheap coffee with standard menus who's appeal is convenience and speed much more so than quality. The Roost is nothing like that, in the best of ways. While it did take longer than a normal drive through coffee joint, the quality of food, experience, and service is what I would expect from any traditional coffee shop. The Roost has a full menu including cold brew, blended drinks, and smoothies, as well as trendy add ons like hemp and oat milk that you can't find everywhere for a reasonable price upgrade (.65). They also had a discount (2.50) caffeine free kids section of the menu including smoothies, frozen chocolate milk, and Italian sodas! Despite being quick service in your car, the decor and graphic design creates an ambiance that is elevated above what you would expect. I ordered the special which was $1 off any size pumpkin white mocha, which I got iced. I had a nice conversation with the barista as she made my drink where she informed me that they were a local business with two locations. I'm not normally a huge fan of pumpkin drinks but this was really good. The espresso was strong but not burnt or bitter and it held up to all the sugar in the drink. I also really loved that as a small business, they had branded cups and eco friendly straw free sipper lids, a more expensive but more conscionable option. All in all, The Roost is a high quality drive through coffee shop that is good coffee you can feel good about supporting. Try it sometime! read more

They have an extensive coffee and tea menu, including a raspberry green tea latte, which is my favorite. They also have a pretty good selection of muffins, bagels, and other snacks, so you can't go wrong with a stop here! read more

I've been meaning to try this coffee hut for a while now, so many of my friends have given it as a recommendation, and now I know why! First impression - the gals working on the Saturday I visited were all so friendly and working together to get orders completed as quick as possible. I tried the honey lavender latte which was the drink of the week. It was strong in the coffee flavor, light on the honey and lavender which was perfect! What a delightful find!! We came for the farmers market and grabbed an iced coffee before we went to get our goodies. While there was a busy car line, I was able to pop up front near the seating to have my order taken. Even with the morning rush, all of the workers were kind and calm and my order came super quickly! On top of that it was delicious, I ordered an icecream coffee with vanilla and some cream and since they were out of their cold brew I tried the americano version instead which was delicious. I highly recommend popping into this location, it even has some nice shaded seating ! read more

The coffee and chai are decent but I think they might have dairy in their chai mix. They should let people know if there is because when I ordered an oat milk chai latte, I was running like I had an affogato. The ladies who work there are super sweet as well! Really disappointed. I asked if they could make a latte with almond milk blended. They said sure! I got my drink and it tasted really sweet. I'm thinking maybe the almond milk has a sweet taste. I only drank a little bc I'm diabetic and can't have sugar. Sure enough my blood sugar went thru the roof. Please don't say you're making one thing and give me something else. Wasted 6 bucks plus tip. read more

If you don't Roost are you really a Reno-ite? The White Chocolate Chai + 3 shots is to die for. Heck, every drink I have ever ordered here is to die for. The coffee is fresh, never burnt, and priced perfectly. We go here every Thursday after my kids swim lessons where she gets an Italian Soda with whipped cream (they put a big dollop on the straw which is her favorite part) and I get some kind of an iced drink. If it hadn't been for a massive hangover almost three years ago I would've kept driving past this little place, but thank goodness for bad decisions the night before because now I have found the only coffee shop I go to. Makena is my daughter's favorite barista! She talks to her and makes her the best Italian sodas. Plus she comes up with drinks for me since I change it almost weekly because I am indecisive and like new things. All in all - go here, you won't regret it. read more

This is my FAVORITE place for coffee!! The staff is friendly and proficient (a combo not often found these days). The owner clearly cares about quality above all else and that is worth its weight in coffee beans. ;) They have a loyalty stamp card and some fun bonus features like two stamp Tuesday and happy hour on Wednesday's. There are two girls in particular I see a lot - Jazmine and I think the other girl's name is Mar (???) - who bring the most amazing energy every time I see them, and I feel like they put their entire soul into what they do every morning. In general, if this coffee shop were a person, I would trust them with my taxes, my secrets, and probably my first-born child. Literally a 10/10, and I will continue to come here on a regular basis until someone has to intervene.

We decided to stop by after being in the area, and were pleasantly blown away by the spacious seating area (for working or conversing), kind baristas, and incredible roasts of coffee. I obviously had to opt for my go-to order of a lavender latte, which was so fragrant and one of the BEST that I've had. It was amazing! Rich bold expresso flavor with a hint of caramel. Delicious!! I also ordered the Egg Sandwich with a smear of Avocado and sprouts on an everything bagel. So fresh. The bagel had a perfect delicious amount of avocado with a hint of lemon juice that was amazing! I look forward to returning to try more on the menu. Loved the relaxed Vibe.

After talking about a special drink, and with her recommendation I chose an iced blueberry mocha. Great drink, to complement I also chose raspberry beignets. Sat outside relaxing and enjoying the break. If you're a walker, there's plenty of seating in and outside, drivers there are a few spots on either side, and on the road around the corner. She loves coffee and I wanted to take her to a new to us place.. i didnt realize laughing cat was a few minutes down the road from us till I saw a video from a local food reviewer who had gone there after they were broken into and robbed.. so i knew we had to go and try their coffee and support them. First of all their logo is super cute and I love all the purple..my favorite color..lol.. the first thing you see when you walk in is the purple food truck painted on the wall around the window you order at and then the big wall on the right of the door where people have signed it when visiting. We walked up to the window and were greeted nicely by 2 staff members.. they explained their seasonal drink and answered any questions we had..they were both so nice. I got a warm chai with regular milk. Temp was good but it did lack flavor. I could barely taste anything like the Chai or cinnamon. My fiancee got their seasonal drink. It was a spin on Dubai chocolate but made with white chocolate. My fiancee LOVED it! I tried it too and it was pretty good. Im just happy she liked it. Cute place with good vibes and friendly staff. We will be coming back and I will be trying the chai again.

The coffee was fine, the space was fine, service was fine. But for a specialty shop, I'm usually looking for one thing that makes me go "okay, this is what you do." I didn't quite find that here. Maybe I caught them on an off day, maybe it just didn't align with my preferences. I'd be open to giving it another shot. But on this visit, it didn't move the needle for me.

The decor, the entertainment, the products all struck a chord with me. On one side - a super cute pour over/loose leaf tea shop with some records for sale. On the other - a cute bar and lounge area equipped with a vinyl player (Bring one in on a Monday for them to play). You have some house pants, checkered floors, and cool vinyl covers all over the walls that make for some great & hip atmosphere and vibes. Their restrooms, though small, and clean and cool. Their pour overs are so flavorful, strong, and made with beans grounded on your visit. I love that they're flavored and sweetened in a way that allows the coffee to shine. If you're into sweeter drinks, ask for a bit more sweetner or add in a brown raw sugar packet yourself from the straw station. I hear their chocolate pour over is a hit. Matchas - prepared in a similar fashion. Slightly sweetned with subtle flavorings. I tried their carrot cake matcha today and really enjoyed the housemade syrup they used to flavor it with. I also love that they offer loose leaf teas. Their chai was nice, fragrant and great with a little sweetner and milk. Shelby over at the bar area was sooo patient with explaining their menu and suggested a isla bonita pineapple shrub drink for a non alcoholic option. Similar to their other drinks on the coffee side, it was tamed in sugar yet still fun and flavorful. I really enjoyed the tang from the apple cider and the spice from the tajin chili powder as a contrasting flavor. Double check their website for bar and coffee shop hours as they differ from one another. And follow them on Instagram for updates on seasonal specials & themed gatherings. A lot of cool local DJs spin here for special events and parties during the holidays. Tip: sit next to the pour over station next to the menu. It's so entertaining, especially with Sydney working the station (thanks so much for the chat and entertainment. Honestly one of the friendliest baristas I've ever met in Reno). An interesting combination of coffee shop, bar, and vinyl lounge, EP is located on Wells Avenue. Took a break from checking out other neighborhood shops to sit and enjoy an afternoon cocktail with friends. Plenty of various comfy seating areas and about six spots at the bar. I tried the Float On, a boozy adult root beer float using local gelato from Bibo. It's a coffee shop, so my friend sipped the 9 to 5, their version of an espresso martini. The Soul Sipper, a beautiful orange colored cocktail was similar to an Aperol Spritzer. Located on the corner of Wells and Vassar, there's a little more street parking available.

Good coffee and a wonderful staff -- this is my go-to place for coffee and such amazing improvements over the past year with the new ownership!
