Honey & Lemon Polenta Cake (GF)

Love when new restaurants pop up in Tampa, so when The Humble Butternut popped up on my instagram I got so excited! They serve Indian food and it's delicious! I ordered the Tandoori Chicken Bowl, and the chicken was flavorful and juicy. With the chicken, I chose a side of turmeric quinoa and green goddess dressing; I added pita, avocado, and lemon tahini sauce on the side. Everything was delicious and flavorful! For dessert, I decided to get the Honey & Lemon Polenta Cake (gluten free). A side note: I've never had polenta, so I was excited to try this. Unfortunately, I didn't like the flavors too much. Later I found out that there's cardamom in the cake which I think threw my tastebuds off. Overall, the food & service was great! You can order online through their website & have curbside pickup, which is what I did. I will definitely come back here again soon!

Natasha was amazing! And so patient during our cooking class :) all the ingredients were fresh and the recipe was delicious. I can't wait to visit them in the future and take advantage of their services, they're so convenient. Also, I was able to easily convert the recipe into a vegan one, which is always a plus!

We enjoyed an exceptional array of food and flavors from The Humble Butternut last night. It was worth the 35 minute drive and here is why: Let's start with the Mumbai Mule for 2 that combined simple syrup steeped in turmeric & ginger then combined with ginger beer all sent home in a cute mason jar. The roasted cauliflower was our favorite sporting herbs and spices I never seem to be able to duplicate at home. The tandoori chicken was a generous amount with beautiful flavors. Because of the long travel time I feel the Masala French Fries that were oven baked in delightful spices & tomatoes. They were still full of flavor but lost their freshness. The last things are dessert items - one we had to Dave for a later time because we did not want to over indulge (which would be easy to do with this food!). The rose and earl gray cookies are fantastic! We look forward to the saffron & cardamom cheesecake later today.

We just did a pick up from here and it did not disappoint. All the ingredients tasted fresh and top quality. The flavors of the chicken and paneer tacos were absolutely delicious. Don't forget the side of spicy sauce. It's the perfect amount of spice to make the tacos pop. We got the side of corn which was creamy and pared perfectly with the tortilla chips. Add a side of beans and dessert! Highly recommend this local business.

    indian tacos!! amazing

I cannot believe we just found this place. So good - food is so flavorful, just the right amount of kick, and different than anything i have had in tampa! i have had the butter chicken pot pie - got it for the whole family and it was gone in an hour, and then we went back the next week for tacos! service was so friendly- and everything was wrapped so nicely, and this is my new fav take out option. we will definitely be back!

Heartbreaking food shortages for wedding catering and poor management - Proceed with caution…read more We chose Flames Indian Cuisine for our multi-day Indian wedding based on the owner's personal assurance that because the restaurant was local, they could not run out of food. Unfortunately, the reality was a bride and groom's worst nightmare. The planning process was incredibly stressful. It took weeks to get a finalized menu or contract, and we weren't even able to settle the payment until the week before the event. Communication was consistently delayed. Despite paying for a 200-person guest count and having fewer guests than contracted, we ran out of food at nearly every event. This was witnessed by our guests, the venue staff, and our wedding planner. When we confronted the owner, he blamed our guests for "eating too much" rather than taking responsibility for under-preparing. He promised an internal investigation and a resolution within a month. It has now been three months, and despite numerous follow-ups, he has completely ignored our attempts to resolve this amicably. In Indian weddings, food is a pillar of the celebration. To have our guests waiting 10+ minutes for refills that never came was embarrassing and a clear breach of our contract. I would strongly advise any couple to look elsewhere if you want a caterer who is professional and honors their commitments.

Copper Indian Cuisine in Westchase was an excellent find…read more The restaurant is beautifully decorated -- there's a small bar when you first walk in, but the back dining area is really elegant, cozy, and thoughtfully designed. It immediately feels like a great place to sit down and enjoy a relaxed meal. Service was excellent. Our server, Dominic, was very attentive and gave helpful recommendations throughout the meal. Everything we ordered was delicious. The flavors were bold and well balanced, and the medium spice level was perfect -- flavorful with just the right amount of heat without being overwhelming. I also asked for extra yogurt sauce just in case things got spicy, and that ended up being the perfect cooling addition. What we ordered: * Taj Mahal Premium Lager -- crisp, light, and refreshing. A great pairing with the spices in the meal. * Samosa Chaat -- we were told this is a traditional Indian street food. It consisted of vegetable samosas chopped up and topped with yogurt sauce, chutneys, and special spices, creating a great balance of creamy, tangy, and savory flavors. * Garlic Naan -- warm, soft, and perfectly garlicky. * Tandoori Platter -- a generous assortment of tandoori chicken, lamb chops, and shrimp, cooked in the tandoor with beautiful smoky flavor and spices. The platter was served with basmati rice and sauces on the side, which complemented the meats perfectly. Most of the meal was gluten-free, with the exception of the naan and the samosa chaat appetizer. I do wish they offered gluten-free naan or samosas, which would make an already great menu even more accessible. They also offer weekday and weekend happy hours (I included a photo of the menu for anyone interested). We will definitely be back. This will easily become our go-to Indian restaurant in the area.

Hands down the best Indian food I have ever had. My review in summation is that this is a must try…read more We ended ordering one of the vegetarian prefix brunch menus and it was fantastic. We also did chicken 65, and a vegetable curry. The prefix menu could not have the spice level adjusted however I found it tolerable (I have a reasonably high spice tolerance) and the other items we asked for mild and they were perfect. The service was top notch. Extremely friendly and personable staff, we felt welcome from the beginning. We also had the chef come and check on us and the part that stood out to me is that everyone working here was happy and proud of their food. The interior of the restaurant is very nice. I loved the setup and the lighting. It was perfect for a romantic evening and for enjoying food with friends. I will absolutely come back. This is now one of my favorite restaurants in Tampa. The staff and excellent food made this an experience I will remember.
