Heartbreaking food shortages for wedding catering and poor management - Proceed with caution. We chose Flames Indian Cuisine for our multi-day Indian wedding based on the owner's personal assurance that because the restaurant was local, they could not run out of food. Unfortunately, the reality was a bride and groom's worst nightmare. The planning process was incredibly stressful. It took weeks to get a finalized menu or contract, and we weren't even able to settle the payment until the week before the event. Communication was consistently delayed. Despite paying for a 200-person guest count and having fewer guests than contracted, we ran out of food at nearly every event. This was witnessed by our guests, the venue staff, and our wedding planner. When we confronted the owner, he blamed our guests for "eating too much" rather than taking responsibility for under-preparing. He promised an internal investigation and a resolution within a month. It has now been three months, and despite numerous follow-ups, he has completely ignored our attempts to resolve this amicably. In Indian weddings, food is a pillar of the celebration. To have our guests waiting 10+ minutes for refills that never came was embarrassing and a clear breach of our contract. I would strongly advise any couple to look elsewhere if you want a caterer who is professional and honors their commitments. read more

I did not know what to expect going in! Inside is cute and I love the decor. Staff was attentive and helpful- overall great honestly. I got the butter chicken with garlic naan, as well as tried the chicken 65. The chicken overall in all dishes were perfect- not dry at all. The chicken 65 was light on the fry however the taste was different compared to other places I've tried chicken 65 from. The butter chicken was lighter in the sauce than other places- I'm accustomed to a little thicker of a sauce and a little heat (I wasn't asked about a spice level but there was no spice in the dish). However, if you are a person who does not like/can't handle spice, this works perfectly for you. The garlic naan was so good!! It was soft and wasn't too oily or overwhelming of garlic. My family enjoyed the tikka masala and the chicken biryani. I will however be back to try more! read more

I ordered food to go and when I got home we were too hungry to remember to take pictures of our meal! We had butter chicken and vindaloo lamb. My butter chicken was delicious so creamy and the chicken was tender. I had enough pieces to have a whole plate for lunch the next day. My husband loved his lamb vindaloo and the price was worth the cost. For takeout we each had a bowl with our meat/sauce and a large takeout container with rice. Naan was not included and I recommend spending the $5 on a side of it- you get one big piece that 2 people can split. The customer service was adequate- i didn't spend time in the restaurant but they didn't rush me during the order. I may go back but I do have pretty comparable Indian food closer to me and while good, it isn't worth the drive for me. read more

Perfect ordering process, delivery was made within time and the food was good!!! And hot! I had the Samosa & Tikka Masala chicken. Both are things I've had before multiple times at other places and the food quality and flavor is great! I do prefer the sweet sauce over the green sauce on the samosas but that's just a taste preference. The basmati rice was very fluffy and was not sticky with the other rice - even in a styrofoam container! That's a big plus for me since I have a terrible time cooking rice LOL! I'm not sure where this place gets bad reviews on their wine, but they have a very big wine list all by the glass. They do not have a liquor license. I had Prosecco and Chianti and both of which were really good. My husband ordered the Taj Mahal beer, which was also good. We ordered the vegetable pakora, lamb, curry, chicken, khorna, and garlic naan. Our food was great & we'll be back again. As far as service goes, it was good too. This is more of a mom & pops kind of place. So food and service may not be as fast as some reviewers may expect. If you're a foodie, you'll enjoy this spot. read more

We visited on a Sunday and ordered for pickup on Door Dash. There was easy parking but only a few spaces available, so during bust hours it might be more difficult. For food we ordered the Chicken Korma, $17, the samosa $7 which comes with two and the Gulab Jamun $5 for dessert. We didn't specify a spice level for the Chicken Korma, so it came out mild. The portions were rather small for the price and the chicken was a little dry. I really wished they still offered the samosa chat, I guess it's an older menu item. I was very surprised to see the dessert only came with two balls, kinda small portion considering it was $5. This place was more of like a sit down, casual Indian restaurant. Food 4.5/5: I ordered the lamb biryani and the butter, chicken and the tomato soup, and garlic naan. The tomato soup was almost like a tum Yum soup. Very tasty! However, I feel like it needs something in there, some sort of starch. Otherwise, very good The lamb biryani was yummy and the lamb was very tender. The rice was a little bit on the dry side otherwise it was very good. The butter chicken was AMAZING. I can drink that butter chicken. It was so good! I'm definitely getting this again! And that naan?!?!?!? It was HUGE and buttery and had the perfect amount of chew. Just soooooo YUM! Service 4/5: our server didn't really pay much attention to us. He took our order. He had trouble explaining some of the dishes. I ordered take out from here and had a good experience. I placed the order online and it was ready on time for pick up. I ordered the butter chicken, tandoori platter, naan and mango lassi. Everything was amazing and I'm really glad I found this place. The only thing I would do different is order the butter chicken with a higher spice level. I picked medium and it wasn't spicy at all, but the butter chicken had great flavors anyways so it wasn't a deal breaker. The portion sizes were great too and I had leftovers for the next day. Celebrating our sons 18th birthday - his request was Indian so we decided to check out Flames. The ambiance was wonderful, quiet and peaceful. We were some of the first in for dinner and ordered 3 appetizers, some paneer, samosa and the shrimp dish pictured. All were great and came out quickly. For dinner we got the three dishes pictured and ever single one was great. The flavors were great and not too spicy. By far not my first choice for an Indian restaurant. Place is small. Like the size of a Chinese food takeout. The ceiling looks really cool and they do a good job of trying to make it cozy but overall I feel like I could hear every conversation at every table because we're all sitting on top of each other. The service is what I would say a little nonexistent, and overall the food is just average. Also, they didn't ask how spicy we wanted anything which is the first time that's ever happened to me in an Indian restaurant. It's not like it was terrible or anything. It was just average. This was our first time here. Hubby liked all of the main entrees that we ordered. I loved the Kadai Chicken. Their garlic naan was ok, but I wish it was fluffier. We also had the paneer naan. It was both of our first times eating that type of naan. It was pretty good. Service was ok. Ambiance is cute & quiet. I wish Yelp would let us give half stars because I would actually give this 3.5 stars. We came in on a Saturday evening and it wasn't too busy, the seating area is small but we were able to get large table for our party. We got there about 45 mins before they closed and were rushed to order because their kitchen was about to close. We started with gobi manchurian and chili chicken, both were great - it was saucy and flavorful! For entrees, we got paneer butter masala and chicken tikka masala - we asked for medium spicy but it could've been a little spicier. The restaurant itself isn't located in proper Tampa, and parking is small. And not that much seating inside either. We ordered the vegetable biryani which was flavorful; the paneer butter masala and chicken tikka masala, which i wish was spicer even though we said to make it medium spicy. I ordered butter chicken and masala. They were very similar in taste, spice wise we couldn't tell the difference.I'm also use to having a bit more spice in my curries. No ability to get more spice on the Uber Eats app. HUGE chucks of chicken. Naan was really good. One thing is they combined the rice into one huge container, so there wasn't away to equality separate the rice for the two dishes. That is not a bad thing! read more

What happened to this place? It used to be amazing but has been awhile since we don't live near Flame's anymore. Ordered samosa, chicken tikka masala, butter chicken and naan bread. The only thing that was good was the naan. First of all, when we picked up the food, we tipped for pickup as we usually do for small businesses. It is not 20%, as I am NOT tipping 20% if I am not sitting down and being served. When we handed back the receipt with tip, one gentleman spoke in another language but heard the number that I tipped. The other gentlemen grabbed the receipt, looked at it, and laughed. Many businesses have closed since Covid, should you not be grateful that I am a customer? Anyway. Then the food. The curries were soooo watery. And flavorless!!! In the past I have ordered medium and it is too spicy, this time there was no flavor or spice in either chicken dish. The samosas were also completely flavorless. I am not sure what has happened to this place or why there are good reviews. It was awful, from customer service to the quality of food. People are sleeping on this place so hard. I've been twice so far and have been the only table there when walking in both times. Eventually another table would show up over the course of our meal though. I've been to the other highly rated Indian restaurants in Tampa, and this place blows them out of the water. It's right across the street from Datz/Dough. I enjoy getting a window seat to watch people struggle to find a parking spots over there when I'm literally the only car in the lot at Flames. If you're ever in the same situation as those poor crowds of ill advised foodies and Instagram fame seeking influencers, do yourself a favor and come across the street. The food is just as beautiful here, and I might add...tastes better. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I have yet to try something here that wasn't the best version of it that I've ever had. From biryani, to curry, tandoori, and ohh...the desserts. Gulab jamun, Rasmalai. It's all delicious. Flames Indian Cuisine was so delicious. Went for date night and definitely glad we chose to eat here. We ordered the samosas for an appetizer and they were very good especially dipped in the red sauce. We also ordered the tandoori platter and garlic Naan to share. The platter came with rice and was plenty of food for both of us plus taking some home. We really enjoyed all the flavor on the each item in the platter. And the garlic Naan was delicious.
