So many fun pastries with fun ingredients and fun names. My favorite was the pineapple upside down cake. It's such a rare find if grandmas not making it. The brownies are very chocolatey and moist. This place is DANGEROUS! I love it too, too much. I dream about the bars, the cakes, the cookies, all of it. All of it! Ugh. It's ridiculous how much I love the desserts here. We unfortunately live a short drive away from Hungry Hero, so there's absolutely no point in me ever trying to lose weight because this place will lure me back in time and time again. It's so good. So good! I love the cookies (yes, I've tried pretty much all of them, and they are all delicious), but the bars are really extra dreamy. And I ordered our first cake from here recently, and now there's no ordering cakes from anywhere else. My family would revolt if I tried. We all LOVE their chocolate layer cake! The people who work here are always so nice. And the shop itself is cuuuuute! So bright and colorful and unless you have a cold dead heart, it will surely put a smile on your face. WOW. What an incredible bakery. The baked goods are amazing. I cannot tell you, Sherwood, you are lucky this place exists. It has the most flavorful, moist, delicious cupcakes, pastries, macarons and more. But let me back up. The wife and I visited Sherwood a while ago. It was a beautiful day. We asked for directions to a local bakery and were directed to The Hungry Hero. Upon entering it's a quaint, charming vibe. You're greeted with a kind hello and the display case is inviting and filled with glorious wonders. They cater to someone like me with weird food allergies and although I'm anaphylactic to eggs I did my best to enjoy those amazing huge macarons that hands down beat any here in our town. Yet only 3 stars? 5 for the bakery. 5 for the products. But 1 for the attitude. It would have been a great experience until my wife asked about that counter. Then it became an uncomfortable, suspicious political event that neither of us needed to be involved. I don't care about your political agenda. I'm not in your bakery for that purpose, I'm in your bakery to purchase incredible baked goods and be off. I plunked down $50 and off we went to enjoy our treats. So all in all 5 stars for food, service and ambiance. But we'll pass on the attitude - so we'll find another bakery in Sherwood or go to the local Fred Meyer who will sell us plastic, mass produced "baked goods" without the agenda. read more

Happened upon this place during a walk after dinner. They were selling banana pudding which I couldn't wait to try. It was more whipped cream with a little pudding and a few banana slices w/a little cookie. I would have preferred the pudding be more pronounced but it was tasty (it was probably 60% whipped cream. Not a horrible thing if you really like whipped cream - which I do.). We may return to try a few of their cookies - their combos looked interesting. read more

3.5 Cute little bake shop in Sherwood. Friendly staff and a wide selection of baked goods including some basque cheesecake, cookies, cupcakes and bars. The desserts are pretty sweet. We tried the cookies and a bar. The potato chips didn't come through much but it probably added a nice saltiness. The butterscotch was but too sweet for me. The ugly cookie was great because you can't go wrong with a marshmallow. All of them were nicely crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. From the photos I expected bigger cookies though. Oh my goodness. I don't even know where to start so let's do this... I'll start at walking in the door, because when I opened the outside door, I was hit with the smell of delicious baked goods wafting across the air. Walking through the inside door was like walking into a big ol' candy shop as a kid with no idea of what to get first. Walking into Hungry Hero is the same way: how do you decide what to get when it all looks so amazingly yummy that you want one of everything? Since I was the only person in the shop at the time, I slowly made my way past the bakery cases, taking in every single item, trying to decide what looked the best (haha! everything looks fabulous!) and then settling on several things because I just couldn't make a decision. I finally chose a piece of Basque cheesecake with salted caramel, a lemon cupcake and one each of the macarons (fruity pebbles, vanilla, salty chocolate). The Basque cheesecake was delightfully wonderful with the salted caramel sauce making it super yummy; the macarons were tasty and sweet; the lemon cupcake was full of that lemon flavor I love so much. This is definitely a place I'm keeping on my "go back there" list because it's a place to go back to time and time again. Ordered a cake from Alex and Ryan for an elopement ceremony. Very easy to work with despite me being a few states away (Colorado) Super accommodating when I asked for the cake to be delivered instead of picked up at the last moment. They were able to add some nice flowers and rubber ducks to the cake (marrying a duck fan lol) to make it fun and unique. I like that we were able to do two flavors. Everyone looooved the Red Velvet but the general consensus on the lemon was that it was too sweet. All in all a very pretty cake, we had a ton of leftovers so the size was great for our party making sure everyone got some, and a pleasure to work with. I would order from them again. read more

I have never been to their store front, but always get something when they do pop-ups at Nordstrom at Washington Square Mall. Perhaps the luster has worn off a bit, but it feels that about a year ago the quality started dipping a bit. I noticed that their lemon bars, which are one of my favorite items, now have a super hard crust rather than being crumbly like they used to be. I also used to follow their Instagram page until it got super political; I don't even disagree with most of what they are saying, but it's a massive turn off regardless of party affiliation. I just want to see photos of their baked goods and news about the business! The owner is obviously free to say what they want and I highly encourage them; but I'd be careful about posting political opinions on a social media business page (no matter the stance or if it is "correct.") The service is still excellent and everyone is friendly; the shopfront is still one of my favorite things to see in downtown Sherwood. This dessert shop is nothing short of AMAZING!! The shop, itself, is both fun and beautiful. The desserts were incredible! We had the chocolate pudding, browned butter bar, and cherry chip cake. I do not like overly sweet desserts and, in my opinion, each had a perfect balance of sweetness and richness. This does not mean it wasn't sweet or rich - it was both but allowed you to enjoy the flavor of textures of the dessert without overwhelming your tastebuds with sugar. Addicting is what first comes to my mind in describing the Coconut Bailey cookie I just ate. The cookie was both crunchy and chewy. The vanilla cheesecake, we got with raspberry jam on top, was spectacular! Perfect texture and sweet but not too, flavorful. This is cheesecake you'd expect from a Michelin Star restaurant.
