They host themed events too--like an upcoming Star Wars Day breakfast with a buffet, character meet-and-greets, goodie bags, and more. I don't live in the area anymore, so coming back would be a special treat--but I definitely plan to. There's nothing pretentious about the place and no attempt to turn a simple bakery into some sort of trendy destination. You walk in, you're greeted by incredibly friendly people, and there's a very good selection of pastries and baked goods staring back at you. The variety is impressive considering the size of the shop, and I usually end up leaving with more than I originally intended to buy. The coffee is also very good, which matters to me. There's something about getting a good cup of coffee alongside a fresh pastry from a neighborhood bakery that just works. Silver Star gets that combination right without making a production out of it. The prices are another big plus. Everything feels reasonably priced, especially compared with what you can end up paying at some of the newer bakeries and cafés. You're getting good food, good coffee, friendly service, and that genuine neighborhood-bakery atmosphere without feeling like you're being charged extra for the privilege. Five stars from me. A go to spot for me also. On to the review! I walk in and greeted by a very polite person asking me what I would like and started off with a loaf of Italian bread sliced. They grab the loaf fly to the back and before you know they are right back and asked if I wanted anything else and I asked for some torpedo rolls and while they grabbed that I scooped up some Hermit cookies (my favorite thing here!). We square up at the counter with a fast polite credit card transaction and I'm out the door ( watch the step going in and out). Great little town bakery where most the locals can be seen chit chatting back and forth while ordering stuff. Great friendly vibe. Nice clean place and really awesome Hermit cookies!
