Indoor Nightmare is more like it
My GF and I went to the Indoor Oasis. The people there have been great over the years the phone as we had to reschedule multiple times due to sickness. This is the best part of their business.
We got there on 02/03/24 for a massage chair, salt room, infrared sauna, and float package.
When we arrived the person at the desk was in the hallway laughing with someone so we waited in the entry area by ourselves for 15 minutes, not sure what to do. During this time another couple came into the area, in robes, needing assistance, and couldn't get help. Slightly awkward. Eventually the person at the desk came back, helped the robed couple, and then helped us. She was friendly and offered us water, which was good. They have lockers that we locked our jackets and valuable into, my GF brought a bag with personal things as well for the float.
So, the IO advertises that they honor all body sizes. My GF and I are both tall and ample-bodied. The robes did not fit us, they were out of slippers that would fit us, and when we went into the chairs, they didn't fit us either. It was awkward. They should advertise the chairs do not fit all bodies, they have limited slippers, and robes only fit certain people.
The woman at the desk was nice and offered us the massage table machine instead. We went into that room and shared the machine. The first time, when my GF went, the woman at the desk came into the room right as the machine ended for her, but for me, we had to leave the room and find her. This begins a bit of an issue. The woman at the desk, working alone, is rarely at the desk when you need there, and rarely at your service when you need her. You are pretty much on your own there, and holding a towel across a robe that didn't fit, made finding her awkward at times.
Next was the salt room. That went fine. We did notice that she starts the machine before you get in, so we lost 2-3 minutes of that experience. The experience was a good one, I could breathe better inside the machine, but again, when it was over, we had to search for her.
Next was the infrared sauna. This was my favorite room there. However, again, she started the machine before she left, by the time we got changed for the booth and situated, we had lost five minutes of the experience. We are now also soaked wet, sweaty, wearing towels and robes that don't fit us, and have to find the woman again. They also have a chiro and wellness place next store and that's where we often found her, after bumping into lots of other customers.
I did use the bathroom between sessions, it's in the middle of the main hallway, so wet, half-naked, covered in sweat, covered in salt water, you make that journey again, bumping into lots of people. If you are body conscious like me and my GF because we are larger, that is also an issue.
From here we were led to the float room. My GF went first while I ran to the bathroom. We looked around the room together then my GF needed her shorts from her bag in the locker. The locker wouldn't work, but of course our person started the float early, so by the time my GF dealt with a broken locker, had to find someone again, while half-naked, and then that person had to find someone to get the locker open, the float had already started and was five minutes in.
When my GF returned the staff was nice enough to reset the system for us.
We too, QUICK showers and got in, our float was enjoyable. When we got out however, we discovered NO HOT WATER in the shower. We are covered in salt water and epsom salts and goo, we need to shower off and the shower only is producing ice cold water. My GF ran to the desk, again, half naked, to let them know we had no hot water, I attempted to use the intercom to tell someone we had no hot water, but for the first few minutes there was no one there in the lobby to respond (good thing we didn't have an emergency). Once we told them we had no hot water they accused us of running the shower while we were floating (a. NOT TRUE, b. We are adults, why would we run the shower we aren't using for 65 minutes?), said they would reset the water, it never worked, so we had to hose each other down with ice cold water, no shower, just get some of the epsom salt off of us so we could put our clothes on and go home to shower.
Again in the lobby, though they did apologize (there were suddenly more people here at the desk) they again accused us of running the hot water out, and then when we said, no, they said someone else in the building did.
Despite all of our difficulties, especially the cold showers which ruined our float we were surprised they didn't offer us a refund or even a future service or two for free.
We will not be returning.
The business needs to have someone at the desk and someone in the hallway at all times. The customer service model there is broken.
Update: received full refund day after review. Very kind refund. read more
