This place has truly been a haven for me while processing grief after losing my dad. Whatever service you choose will be wonderful. I've done the float tank, the RASHA machine (my favorite), the sauna, and the oxygen steam, and each experience has been great. This place has a great location. That said, being accustomed to floatation tanks and infrared saunas, this place did not seem clean, had an odor that impacts me like mold (i'm sensitive to mold). I felt like i was suffocating. the infrared sauna is nice though there's an odor there too. The towels they give are freyed and thin- little things like nice towels give a more restorative feel. they aren't expensive. The heat in the sauna was good and half an hour got a good sweat. The flotation tank was too hot., It's supposed to be a sensory deprivation tank which means that the water temp is supposed to be the temperature of the body. It was the temp of a hot bath. It smelled. I've been in many flotation tanks and tanks with magnesium salts before. The smell began to be suffocating. I got myself out.- i had been in for an hour but the tming device said i had 30 minutes left. That's the least of it though. There are things this place could do to spiff up and become more of a wellness place where people know what they're doing. read more

I found floating back in 2018 and floated regularly somewhere else until the pandemic happened. I'm very glad to have found a new place that's closer to home! They have a nice rainfall shower and provide earplugs and wound covering. There was only one hand towel and a small towel for when I got out, but that was enough for me. My old float spa provided robes, so I was expecting the same here, unfortunately they don't. The float was wonderful, and the female staffer was incredibly kind. You can choose to have lights on in the tank or not, and you can also leave the lid open if you get claustrophobic. The tank looks huge, but as a plus size person (230lbs) it felt tight at times. For a regular skinny person, it'll do great, but if you're bigger expect to bounce around the tank a little. Overall it was a great experience, and I'll definitely go again! With a few tweaks this place could be heaven. read more

The place is very clean, the sauna room is large and contains a roomie shower for after your sauna. Towels and sandals are provided, so you just need to bring yourself. I'll start by saying I really wasn't sure about the whole "sensory deprivation tank/floating" thing in the beginning but decided to give it a try as I'll try most anything once. I'm super glad I did because it is SUCH a calming and relaxing experience! From the moment you step inside, there is a spa-like environment. They provide everything you need there, including soap and towels for the shower. The tanks are a nice size (compared to Float Boston, where I kept bumping into the sides of the skinny tank every few minutes) and are the perfect temperature. The woman attending the front desk was kind in explaining that the floating experience would probably be unsettling for the first few minutes as my body adjusted to absolute silence and darkness. They played a helpful pre-floating video, which I found very informative. I like that when your time is up, you get a soft light, music, and bubbles in the water to gently alert you. This place is awesome, and after trying another floating company that wasn't as good, I think I may sign up for a membership at Cloud-9! read more

I don't normally write negative reviews, but I kind of feel obligated to in this case, because I'd feel ethically uncomfortable with not saying something. I've been coming to Cloud 9 to float for years, and totally fell in love with floating. I've come here many times, and I was initially so grateful to have a local float place that I tried to overlook some of the unpleasant experiences I had with this particular spot over the years. That reached a head recently, when they committed a particularly negligent mistake while I was in the tank, by completely forgetting I was there and failing to notify me that my session time was up. This was actually the SECOND time they had done this to me, so it's not an isolated incident, but indicative of a serious management lapse. Basically, in both instances I'd signed up for a 90 minute float, but instead of the lights/pump coming on at the end of the session as normal, I was just left there indefinitely. It was really stressful, with my perception of time seeming wildly out of whack with reality, but I  thought I should push through as it was ostensibly only a 90 minute session. In the end, by the time I'd gotten out, it was 150 minutes instead of 90, and in addition to my schedule for the day being really screwed up both times (as I'd had important plans for after the float), by the end of the second instance I felt really uncomfortable with the fact that I'd been left in there. When I asked the only staff member onsite how this could have happened, he said, "well, the fuse burned out, so it's not our fault". It's beyond irresponsible that they could lose track of someone in their pods, when there are only three in the whole facility. I felt super uncomfortable with the idea of trusting these people again, and I'd been charged for upcoming floats, so I called to ask for a refund for these unused floats. Their response was, "your credit card has already been charged for them, so we don't have to refund you". Floating can be a psychologically intense (and beneficial) experience, and that makes it even more important to be able to trust the people managing the float center while you're in there. I can honestly say that my experiences here have made me anxious about the whole idea of floating again, anywhere, and that's really sad as I'd previously been super into it. Overall, I feel like I'm worse off from having gone here. I would strongly recommend, for anyone that's curious about floating: you should definitely do it, but certainly not here. --- One last note: after I'd left the above review elsewhere, I got a really bizarre voicemail from the owner, essentially saying she's very surprised that someone would be upset about this, most people would be really happy to get "extra" tank time so I should be grateful, it's not their fault anyway, and if I'm worried about my schedule getting messed up then maybe I need to relax more, and in fact it's actually my fault because I probably fell asleep in the tank (I didn't, but I'm not sure that's relevant anyway). She also said that I can just go to another float tank place if I want to, but that I'm "crazy" for wanting a refund on the credits and they'd never do that. The pricing online is not the same as when they charge you in person. For a 60-minute float ($89 on their website) and a 60 minute infrared sauna ($69 on their website), they charged me $89 for the float and $75 for the sauna. I tried to ask about the pricing and the young man refunded me, then charged me for a package deal AND a 2nd person sauna charge. There was no 2nd person in the sauna. If your pricing does not reflect the prices of your website, you're milking customers as you please. Not only was the sauna lined with a cushion that clearly has sweat stains, the bathroom was sticky, dusty, and the toilet seat was not cleaned at all and what seemed like explosive something from weeks ago. 3 weeks ago I had a sauna appointment booked here. I even took a Lyft to get to this appointment about 10 minutes early. When I arrived, the man at the desk had me wait while he attended to someone else there, which is cool with me, but then he took a phone call over checking me in. I was given no instruction after checking in on where to put my coat or shoes, I had to ask if he wanted me to put on the sandals next to the desk. The people after me got treated very well compared to me and were shown where to put their coat and handed sandals without asking. I was then told he was waiting for the person before me to get out of the sauna. So, my assumption was "Okay, probably 5-10 minute wait at most. Cool with me." I was then ignored for about 30 minutes with no explanation as to why I was waiting so long. Another customer arrived around 12:20 and was let in to an OPEN infrared sauna. That's when I decided I was done and leaving. After getting the next customer all set, he went to the back again before I called to him to let him know I was leaving. My appointment was at noon, and it was now almost 1230. This desk guy who didn't give a damn about me 2 seconds ago then started trying to "apologize" while I gathered my things. Not charging me for the service is not a good enough option. If I had been told I was going to be waiting 30 minutes, it'd be one thing. I could've gone for a walk or relaxed, but NO, I was just told I was waiting for the prior person to get out while there was another infrared sauna open to use. It essentially ruined my spa day that I'd planned for myself after a tough week. I will need a true apology, not a stuttering one where you're just trying to save face, if I'm ever to give this place a chance ever again. I wanted to support a local business in JP, but they didn't want my money. I was experiencing intense muscle pain in my back and shoulder and my boyfriend suggested we try Cloud 9 for the sauna. When I called and spoke with the owner about my pain, she suggested I also do PEMF which I had never heard of before. Both the PEMF and infrared sauna helped my shoulder immensely. This is such a relaxing place. The owner really cares about your well-being and the benefits of float. In the flotation tank, it has a door you can close, but you can leave it open if you get claustrophobic. You are in a private room with the flotation tank and a shower to get the salt off after. Experienced floater and communication teacher here. My actual float tank experience was grand but afterward, while relaxing in the waiting room, Mom Owner started talking AT me with right-wing, covid-related talking points (this was mid-pandemic). Any attempt to engage resulted in being talked over, and any attempt to ignore or dismiss the conversation just resulted in more ranting. Pretty much the exact opposite of what I want to be doing post-float. Eventually, I asked for a refund for a second float I had purchased (quite out of character for me) and calmly gave my reason for the switch. Mom Owner reacted with even louder ranting - so much so that Son Owner came out from the back and brought me outside to apologize, sharing that "she sometimes gets like this." Mom Owner stepped outside to continue yelling at me and Son Owner had to literally push her back inside - twice. Mom Owner's reaction to covid protocols and customer service were both horrible and genuinely surprising. I'd steer clear of this place. But if you ignore this word of caution and do book a float, be sure not to mention anything they wouldn't say on FoxNews. Or at least keep your earplugs in. read more

With a calm atmosphere, a small wellness shop in the lobby, salt lamps and crystals, the main attractions which are the sauna and floatation tanks are that much better. If you have not experienced a float session now is the time. This family owned business just opened recently on South Street in Jamaica Plain. There is a saying, "You can never put your hand in the same river twice." This applies to my experience floating on 3 separate occasions during my spring break. Each 60 min float session brought me deeper into a meditation state. Floating in the darkness focusing on the I breath and out breath completely cleared my mind and on several occasions I found myself waking up from sleep. I would imagine that over time, the experience the calmness found in floating would actually rewire the brain. My mood was uplifted my outlook on life was lifted and I felt energized. Prior to the first session, I was shown a video on what to expect. I wasn't necessarily nervous about floating but having the info prior to the float was helpful. If you haven't treated yourself to a sensory deprivation experience, I recommend Cloud-9. The place is very clean, quiet, tastefully decorated and calming. Alexander, one of the owners, walked us through the procedures quickly and thoroughly so we could get right to our experience. I had been waiting to check out this place for a while and finally found myself in the neighborhood. I used to float and sauna at a similar place while living in CA and really missed having an option in this area. Place was super clean, owners super friendly, and it has a neighborhood/family feel. I am obsessed with their Clearlight Sauna as it's super hot (which I need to enjoy it), and did a 5 day detox here. I have also used their Sunlighten (different kind of heat, more broad spectrum) as well as their float tanks and all have been wonderful experiences. I would prefer the ability to do binaural beats in the float tank though as some other places have. I can't wait to go back and do their 7-day Sauna/Niacin/PEMF Detox. I came in for a float after working a long red eye flight, I was exhausted to say the least. I've been floating for years but this was my first time going to Cloud 9. The ambiance is serene and calming. The owner helped me, she was wonderful! I do wish it was an option to have light meditative music like my spa at home has, but that day the sensory deprivation was perfect. Completely disgusting service aunt the most rude, aggressive, insulting, and stressful experience and following communication I have ever experienced with a spa. Upon stepping into the facility I was greeted by the son of the owner, who did not seem knowledgeable of the services being provided. I hard scheduled a 90 minute salt float, a Rasha treatment, and hydrogen therapy. I paid for an infrared sauna that was not performed. Upon stepping into the facility, it smelled of mildew and feces, I was offered a pair of dirty, reusable sandals stuffed into a dirty laundry basket, and there was a treatment being performed in IN THE WAITING ROOM for a separate client on a dirty recliner chair, which was not sanitized afterwards. I was shown a cartoon video explaining the salt float, I asked questions about available products which the owners son could not explain. I was shown to the salt float room, where there was a dirty shower filled with hair in the drain and on walls, and the walls were encrusted with shower products and creams. The floor was dirty, The salt tank was encrusted with dried salt that clearly had not been cleaned, the lighting and music buttons did not work - after 10 minutes of the water stinging my skin ( I had thoroughly showered prior), and grabbed a mildew smelling towel, changed, and walked out explaining my concerns to the owners son, Chris, who had offered me a refund and said he had checked in with his mother, Angie, the owner for approval. The Rasha treatment made me extremely sleepy - she accused me of being intoxicated because I fell asleep! What an awful accusation. I was very concerned about the cleanliness of the chair and Covid precautions. they skipped one of my treatments, and it was placed as credit on my online account without my confirmation. The next morning I spoke to the Female Owner, asking politely for a refund and was responded with screaming and talking over me on the phone, denying my refund, telling me I performed the Salt Float incorrectly, despite the fact that she was absent from the facility at the time. she then called me back, continuing to yell and argue with me, once again denying my request for a refund, threatening me over the phone to come to the facility and confront her in person. Overall, it was a horrifying experience with a disgusting, zero privacy, dishonest, abrasive, aggressive. to be quite honest I am scared to even call back and ask for the credit to be refunded back to my payment method, because of how aggressive and violently rude the owner was. for a place with such seeming good reviews, this was such a disappointing and stressful experience. I have a feeling that the owner will also try to hide this review from the Yelp account. I would recommend going to any other location in Boston, specifically in Somerville or on Newbury Street - avoid this location at all costs. if you were looking for a therapeutic, holistic, calming, positive, clean, and honest facility for healing, this is NOT the place. I hope everyone avoids this location and for those who have had other negative experiences, I feel for you deeply. Horrible. I had such high hopes and if I could live zero stars I would. this is clearly a small business that takes pride in stealing money from customers and attacking them when they express concerns. Update: just called back and asked for compensation for the treatment that was not performed, the owner told me that I have to drive back to the location to receive cash ( seems to want physical confrontation) despite paying with a card, once again yelling at me and talking over me, and then abruptly hung up the phone on me.
