We arrived 2 hours early, the office staff was understanding and said they just need to make sure that our room was clean and ready. Thankfully it was. They are doing some maintenance on the stair/decking and it was right outside our room, the staff was very apologetic about the noise and assured us it would only be another hour or two. We planned to spend the day at the property's private beach. The staff recommended we head to the public beach about a 10 minute walk from the hotel because it is nicer and has restrooms. During the college season the house on the walk to the private beach are of college kids and the beach may have some left over "party supplies" lol. We basically had the beach to ourselves. There is no lifeguard snd there are some shells right when you walk into the water but after the small patch of shells it was a sandy bottom. Room 27 Sand Dunes Studio is on the second floor on The back corner by the stairs. The room is well furnished. Please note if you are short you may need a running start to get into the very tall bed The bathroom is pretty small. There is a bar attached to the hotel that is open until late and you can feel the base from the music in the room but the AC drowned it out a little but if you're a little sleeper I recommend earplugs. I can imagine rooms 1, 2, 24, 25, 34, 35 are probably even louder. Also, you can hear noise from the 3rd floor room and adjoining room. Rooms 21-23 and 31-33 are probably the best they have balconies. The hotel also provides free ice on the 2nd floor and juice and muffins in the fridge. I would love to give this hotel 5 stars but the bar attached to the hotel is very loud, I would imagine in the summer it might be quieter since college isn't in session. read more

Room smelled nice ( herbal) and was cool (68 degree F) when we arrived -- it was after their office hours so we used no contact key pick up. Shower was a bit difficult to figure out and is smaller than most others hotels, but they're generous with toiletries. I also appreciate the 3 hooks on the back of the bathroom door--- most hotels don't even have this. Families of 4 like mine never have enough hooks/ any place to hang towels when most hotels have just 1 towel rack. 4 blueberry muffins were in the mini fridge, with 4 bottles of orange juice, which is nice for having breakfast on our own schedule, but the inn website description should say that instead of saying Continental breakfast. Outlets are limited and no USB plugs like more modern hotels. Fluorescent lights are a nice touch. We didn't get Beach towels so can't comment on them. read more

This was the worst experience I've ever had at a hotel. Right outside out bedroom slider door was a raging party of young men 10 or more drinking heavily playing loud music and drinking games. Definitely not what I had in mind for a relaxing night. I tried to close the blinds to at least not see them even if I would hear them clearly and two of the vermicelli blinds fell right off. read more

Loved staying here. It's not high season now in April so it was pretty quiet and relaxing this time of year. Booked the Nautical room which was spacious with lots of natural lighting, room is surrounded by windows with blinds. Prepare for a very bright wake up. Entered the room super clean and bathtub looks brand new. Check in and check out was quick and seamless. Free WiFi and awesome huge muffins and OJ in the fridge (this is the free breakfast you get). My fire stick worked just fine on their tv. Short one block walk to the beach. Will stay here again if I came back to this town for work again. read more

My wife and I had a great time here. First time in Fairfield and we plan on coming back and staying here again. Linda greeted us upon arrival and she was very friendly and accommodating. We also had the honor of meeting Sammy (a staff member's dog) upon checkout... very cute. We stayed in room 33. The room was very clean and comfy. The sheets smelled great, almost as if we were in someone's home, not a hotel. My wife loved the flowers and vines that hung down from the front of the building. They looked so perfect she almost couldn't believe they weren't fake. There were two large, moist muffins and juice in the fridge for us every morning. The blueberry and apple cinnamon ones were good on their own, but the corn could have used a pat of butter. The fridge and cupboards come stocked with things like paper plates and bowls, utensils, champagne glasses, paper towels, salt, pepper, sugar, coffee, cream, and more. Water pressure in the shower wasn't that great. Temperature was fine. Some discoloration in the tub but nothing too displeasing. Private balcony was nice. We loved the convenience of everything. Guests can walk down to the bar next door (the inn provides a BOGO drink coupon), across the street to the liquor store or the deli for food at almost any hour, down the path to the beach or take a 3-5 minute drive into town for restaurants and such. We did a glass blowing class and it was awesome. Yes, as other reviews mention, there are a lot of college kids in the area and the bar downstairs can get a bit crazy, but it didn't bother us much. There's a little group of houses where they live and party that you need to cut through to get to the beach. We thought it was pretty amusing and enjoyed people-watching. We were waiting for an invite, but never got one :( We slept with our balcony door open (third floor) and we were not bothered by any noise from the bar below. For the most part, all we heard was the sound of the ocean. Overall, we found it to be a very relaxing and enjoyable stay. Make sure to check out lighthouse point at low tide. Very cool! read more

Stayed here in a corner room I think 21. Was spacious suite. Had table and chairs sofa with kitchenette. Large closet go store belongings. Mini fridge, microwave, cabinets, coffee pot available cups and disposable plates and cutlery even bottles opener. Well stocked with coffee/tea. Nice gesture to leave muffins and juice. Bed was comfy and suite was . Plenty windows with balcony. Can adjust heat/air yourself. Nice tv in the room and a beautiful fan. The room was nicely done for beach decor. Bathroom had plenty items and was clean and spacious. Only issue is there's no shelf to place your shower items so I used the shelf over the sink We were away from bar as others complained about noice so if you book do yourself a favor and specifically request 21, 22, 23. Buyer BEWARE. Have travled for 30 years. 100's of hotels, 1000's of nights - this was the worst experience. After making the reservation, packing, traveling to hotel, climbing 3 flights with luggage, unpacking...we saw a note on the air conditioner "THE AC UNIT IS NOT WORKING"...mind you this is AUGUST. The note in the room went on to say the other ac was working - which in reality rattled weakly as it grinded on an off, not cooler our childs room. Have never had an expereince where WE WERE NEVER TOLD this...when we asked about us selling a room in AUGUST WITHOUT AIRCONDITIONING - they're response was "well, no one else complained" WHAT??? That's their response?? and then they pointed out their no return policy??? after taking a reservation under falsehoods. I guess according to the owner its on us to ask if the ac is working? Bottomline read the bad reviews - they are real. Bad business practice. and for the hotel...you can now official state someone has officially complained. read more

They placed me in the noisiest room in the hotel next to the front desk which had a paper thin layer in between us. I felt like I was in a Ghetto Motel in New York City. I had people looking inside my room. There was no privacy and I could hear the office staff talking all afternoon. The hotel staff was inconsiderate and I will not be staying here again or recommending this hotel to anyone. I was forced to try to sleep while I wasn't feeling good with music blasting in the room next to me also. Next time Will simply stay in a Motel 6 which would be better than this place. read more

Nice clean rooms but there is a bar attached to the hotel and they BLAST music all night long, it was so loud I could feel the walls shaking. The walls are also paper thin and you can hear the other guests so well that it feels like they are in the room with you. I promise you will not get a good nights sleep here. Plus you do have free beach access but the beach here is 98% jagged sea shells and the water is sludgey so not the best. Also I read about free breakfast being left in the mini fridge, we only had three bottles of water, so yeah that's BS. read more

If you are looking for a quiet getaway, DO NOT stay here. It is literally connected to a bar and had super loud music and screaming from the bar way past midnight on a Thursday night. The hotel itself is clean and pleasant enough. Its location near the beach is very nice. I would not recommend staying here unless you either party all night long, enjoy listening to partying all night long, or sleep like a proverbial rock. The ear plugs on the night stand should be the tip off. Once you've booked it's too late. Thankfully we only stayed one night but we had to be up early. It was not a pleasant stay with the bar and liquor store right next door. Edit: They own the bar and know full well it's loud. Which is why ear plugs are in the room. As if that's a solution. The hotel was empty except for us. They could have put us in a quiet room but from reading other reviews that they responded to if you book though booking.com expect no accommodation. Apparently the noise is punishment for not booking directly. I wouldn't stay here again and if anyone reads this review hopefully you'll heed the warning unless you normally party until 2am. No one was there to check us out in the morning either. We had to search for a key drop off. If you read the other reviews on booking.com you'll see that their resposes are relatively flippant. Use the earplugs or don't book though booking.com because the customer should know which of their rooms are noisy and unpleasant. The Inn is a gem with its fantastic location, charming rooms and reasonable rates. It has direct beach access, is in a wonderful neighborhood to walk in and is within minutes to a multitude of all sorts of restaurants, one-of-a-kind boutiques and entertainment venues. The rooms are squeaky clean, many have sitting areas and fireplaces and kitchenettes stocked with everything you would need and fresh home baked muffins each morning. They also offer beach chairs and beach towels in the warm weather. This is just a very comfy place ideal for university parents, people visiting friends, if you want a quick get-away and if you are on a road trip and need to stop along the way due to it's close proximity to the highway. It's not a luxurious place but a charming quaint place, well appointed with that homey feeling. I highly recommend. read more

I used this hotel for my wedding and have very mixed feelings about my experience. (Also - please note that I would definitely not classify this as a Bed and Breakfast). Regarding the room itself: The rooms were tastefully decorated and well maintained and had unique character. Location is convenient to the beach and nearby Fairfield Beach Pavilion for events - which was my main reason for booking here. However, prepare to be awake with the sun as then drapes in the rooms were not blackout drapes - mine didn't even cover the entire window at the bottom or the center. I booked a block of rooms for my September wedding in January - nearly 9 months in advance. At that time, I got approval to waive their 2 night minimum stay requirement as some of my guests would only need one night of accommodations and noted that in the contract. I also made special arrangements to have my room cleaned later in the day than is customary so that we could get ready in my room before my wedding and my husband and I would come back to a clean room on our wedding night. After signing their contract for a wedding event block and comparing pricing to their website listing, it became clear that they upcharge for wedding blocks - 12-24% higher than their published rates - for weddings, allegedly 'because they have had problems in the past'; most hotels offer a discounted rate if you want to reserve multiple rooms. Not this one. I sent out my 'save the date' cards in January. My guests were contacting me for months afterwards to alert me that they were unable to book rooms at this hotel. They were either told that there were no rooms available or that there was a 2 night minimum (see above for previously mentioned waiver of 2 night minimum requirement). When I called to inquire, I was told that they had recently hired new staff members who were not aware of this 'exception' that was made. These issues continued until late June. My deadline for room reservations was July 3. I was contacted via email mid-May to see if I still needed all of the rooms that were held - which seemed like a pointless check-in, because my contract stated that they would release any unreserved rooms on July 3. (They did release a number of rooms on July 3, mainly because my guests were unable to reserve rooms at this hotel). Finally, every time that I called or emailed to verify that my room would be cleaned at 6PM, my 'reminder' was met with some reluctance because their staff leaves earlier in the day. The staff did ultimately clean my room at the time that I had requested, but they left their caddy of cleaning supplies, rags and scrub brushes in the middle of my room - which was ever so delightful to walk in to on my wedding night. Bottom line - it's a small hotel with a small staff. It's a great location. While I try to 'shop small' at small businesses, I would not recommend this place to friends and family, mainly due to the many lapses in communication that occurred for many months. read more

My husband and I booked a room here on a Sunday night in February, as he had a business meeting in the area early the next day. It appealed to us because it was so close to the beach, so there would be something for me to do while he was at work. It really was a quaint little place and we felt very comfortable there. Upon arrival, the staff was very kind. They upgraded us to a nicer upstairs room for free because they had the extra space. They also allowed us to check in 2 hours early and called us as soon as the room was ready. The proximity to the beach is unbeatable...all you have to do is walk across the street and you land right on it. The hotel also gave us free access wristbands to enter the beach. There are also two eateries and a liquor store within 100 feet of the Inn itself, which was very convenient. Parking was included, and I felt safe leaving my car in the Inn's personal parking lot. Despite being almost directly on the beach, the Inn is located just a few minutes drive from the center of Fairfield, where there are more parks, eateries, and shops to entertain you. The room was very clean, spacious, and bright (lots of windows! loved it - stayed in room 22). The linens and towels smelled fresh, and the kitchenette had all the amenities you might need, including plates, cutlery, coffee, tea, wine glasses, a microwave, and a mini fridge. Muffins and orange juice were provided in our fridge, which we ate for breakfast before checking out the next day. My only complaint is that the front desk has very limited hours, so when we went downstairs to ask for dinner recommendations at 6 pm, the staff was already long gone. For emergencies, there was at least an after hours phone number provided. I read some other reviews about noise complaints concerning the Inn... we had no problems with noise, but we also stayed on a Sunday night. The Inn is located in a college town, surrounded by what looked like a lot of beach houses rented out by students during the school year. Some even appeared to be fraternities. There is a bar located next to the hotel, so I can understand how on THursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, the rowdy students in their houses and the bar might create a lot of noise. I guess that's the risk you take when staying anywhere in a college town though. You can specifically ask to rent a room that is not located next to the bar side of the hotel, but I guess it might be a little more pricey. Overall, great place, great location, and I would definitely go back if we visit the area again. read more

The Inn at Fairfield Beach apparently doesn't know what good business practices are. I made a reservation 2 months in advance through booking.com and after confirming my reservation, over 1 month later, this place informs booking.com that they are overbooked and have to cancel my reservation - IT TOOK THEM 1 MONTH TO FIGURE THIS OUT??? Not likely... They clearly either are incompetent, got a better deal from other potential guests or groups and decided they would cancel multiple people's reservations leaving us to scramble to find another room in the area (of which there are not many). This is simply mismanagement and bad business. I have a Freshman at Fairfield University and will be coming to town often to see him over the next 4 years. That's a lot of potential room nights. I will NOT be booking at the Inn at Fairfield Beach because if you cannot count on a reservation you book 2 months in advance, what can you count on. The inn at Fairfield beach is cozy, warm, and secluded from the hustle and bustle of downtown Fairfield. The beach access was a plus, but what really makes the inn at Fairfield beach great is it's cozy private rooms, all with a kitchenette and living space so you don't feel so claustrophobic. The staff was great, Candace and Miles are the nicest people, and because of them I will only use the inn at Fairfield beach any time I'm in the Fairfield area. read more

What a great hotel! Decor was nice and room was very clean and comfortable. Enjoyed the muffins and juice being replenished each morning as well. The beach access was nice as well very private and enjoyable. Felt comfortable and welcomed throughout our entire stay. My only complaint would be to secure your headboards a-little more. It became slightly distracting while trying to deliver the 22-skidoo to my girlfriend with all the banging going on. Other than that will be back and will recommend to others! read more

This was our first visit to Fairfield CT and we chose this Inn to be close to the water and with a water view. The Inn is clean and the staff was friendly. You can see the water, between the homes that separate the Inn from the beach, but not the "view" that I had anticipated, and paid extra for. The little balcony off the bedroom is very close, on the side of the building, next to the neighboring house. There is a path between the homes leading to the beach, that had a fair amount of trash on it and was a bit smelly. I was glad that our room, The Nautical Suite, was on the top/third floor and at the opposite end away from the adjacent bar, which can be quite noisy. If you are able to climb stairs, I suggest picking a room that is farthest from that bar. The room was clean and nicely decorated, however it is time for a new mattress. Also, the bedroom area is separated by a half wall, with no door, so if one person is sleeping they will still hear all noise from the rest of the room. For some people it may be the perfect location, just not my preference. read more

This is the first time I've ever felt the need to write a negative review on a hotel I have stayed at. It is ashame because up until check out we had a pleasant experience and this was not the first time staying at the inn. Our first experience was a nice one, however, this trip was quite different. This was a family vacation but it was not an ideal location for small children as the neighborhood was extremely noisy at all hours of the night(no fault of the owners) and we also had to deal with smoke from fireworks being set off in the parking lot behind us entering our windows. We also had to throw out many of the food items we brought due to ants in the kitchen. Upon checking out, which was a day early because we did not want to deal with the ant problem, we were told we'd be charged the full amount for the last night, which was understandable because it was our choice. However, there was no apology for the insect problem and instead we were called later that morning to be told they could not find any ants, and we were made to feel like we made it up. We were also told we were being charged the safety deposit fee for breaking the refrigerator handle off, which we firmly believe was already damaged because handles just don't break off when opening a refrigerator door. I asked repeatedly to speak with a manager and was told there was no one to speak with, but eventually was transferred to the property manager who basically suggested if I did not like my stay not to come back, even after explaining we had stayed before and enjoyed it. I felt that we were treated very poorly and unfortunately felt that this could have been handled more professionally. Very disappointed. read more

We had a long term stay at the Inn and felt like we were home. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the staff takes great care of the guests. There is no other hotel this close to the beach or deeded for beach access. We were not bothered by the music from next door and slept soundly each night. We loved the privacy of the exterior entrance and waking up to water views. For price and location, The Inn at Fairfield Beach cannot be beat. read more

We stayed from Saturday into Sunday and booked multiple rooms. Unfortunately my dad became ill and was not able to make it so we wanted to refund one room... understandably it was the day before the trip so we understand we were not able to get a refund so we kept the extra room. When we got onsite we found the two rooms were ajoining so that worked out nicely as we had room to spready out, multiple bathrooms etc. Both rooms were every clean and well stocked. My biggest complaint was saturday nught into Sunday morning. Around 12am the bar/Club next door started playing house music and it sounded like the party was going on in the rooms. Why book those rooms on the weekend if you know that is going to happen? I'm glad my dad wasn't able to make it because he wouldn't have slept in the room designated for him (rm 24). I mentioned it to the person at the counter at checkout and they were surprised to hear this. However i have since found other reviews where these complaints have been aired before. Ultimately the hotel as nice and the location ideal for us, however i think I will find a different hotel in the future that isn't attached to a bar. read more

We cancelled our stay at the Inn a full day prior to our reservation due to the uncertainty of Hurricane Joaquin and the coastal flood warnings in Fairfield County. When canceling, and clearly stating this reason to the receptionist, we were informed that the Inn has a 7 day cancellation policy and would NOT refund us. Completely classless. No sense whatsoever of a potentially dangerous weather event (Fairfield beach routinely floods during storm surges) and would rather risk the safety of their guests rather than refund them. Just despicable all around. Do NOT do business with this establishment. read more
