From start to finish, the entire process was easy and enjoyable. I'm so glad we visited the Gilbert showroom to finalize our choice. Every door on display was absolutely beautiful, but the one we selected--the Santa Fe Iron Entry Door with Nail Heads, finished in Antique Bronze, with a twisted bauble-style handle--was the perfect complement to our pueblo-style townhome. One of our favorite features is the amount of natural light it brings into our living room. The space feels brighter and more inviting, and we especially love being able to open the glass portion of the door to let in fresh air while still maintaining security. The craftsmanship is exceptional. This door is incredibly solid and substantial--it honestly feels more like a vault door than a typical front entry door. The quality and sturdiness give us tremendous peace of mind, and the rich Antique Bronze finish on the steel door gives our entryway a timeless, elegant look. We had originally considered refinishing our old wood door, but with estimates approaching $4,000, we decided replacing it entirely made much more sense. Looking back, we're so glad we did. I contacted the Arrowhead and they sent out Scott who took measurements and explained what they would do to transform our deck from 2000 to 2024! Scott gave us a very fair quote and we decided to go along with Arrowhead to do our project. The next person that I was introduced to is Cory, who is the Project Manager. Cory was friendly, always smiling and gave us a fresh, relaxed feeling about our project. We were very apprehensive, but Cory explained everything they would be doing and calmed any apprehensions that we had. Cory was very thorough at how the process goes from how they will cover the pool water and tape all the surfaces off so they can concentrate on the work that they do. The first process was to remove this big boulder that we had on the deck and a bunch of small stones that were embedded in concrete. The crew came out and hand removed all embedded stones and a hand chiseled this huge boulder away. It took them all day, but when they left, we couldn't even tell that they had done all this work because the yard was SO CLEAN and area fresh concrete and it looked really beautiful. Cory stopped by to make sure everything was OK and said that the next crew out would be the "Pool Brothers"! Juan, who is the supervisor of the Pool Brothers, came out and said that his crews are the crews that will grind off the existing surface and then reapply all the various layers to complete the project. Every step of the way, Juan would ask if we wanted to come out and take a look, even though it wasn't necessary, which I thought was very professional Then we got to the point where we had to pick our colors and Juan took his time and didn't rush and showed us pictures of previous jobs they had performed and give us his thoughts of what would look best with our house paint color, and our pool color and landscape. When they were done, Juan had us come out and take a look and we were just blown away at how beautiful our new Deck & Patio was! Juan explained the process that we had to stay off the deck for 4 days and Juan said not to put the furniture back on the surface for another 3 days for a total of 7 days. My wife and I are so happy and ecstatic at how Arrowhead Deck & Pool has taken our old tired deck & patio and transformed it into a new deck & patio. The shower pan was installed with no liner....that's literally bathroom construction 101. Which means I'm going to have to rip out both shower pans and have them redone costing me thousands of dollars and delaying me renting out the property. Stay the hell away from Russ. This guy is a straight-up con artist who steals and leaves a trail of destruction and unpaid bills. The work he did/subbed out on my shower was a complete joke. It's leaking through the floor pan, rotting the baseboards, drywall, and flooring. I had to chase Russ down just to get the subcontractor's contact info--(don't forget, I paid half of the shower cost direct to the subcontractor when it was already in the budget and was Russ's responsibility but I needed the job done). Russ blew all the money I gave him and it was NOT on my job because he barely bought anything. When I finally called the subcontractor, he told me Russ NEVER paid him the other half--what a shock. The subcontractor promised to get back to me in a week, then promptly disconnected his phone. And I'm sure you can guess Russ quit answering my calls and texts. So not only did Russ steal money from me, but he also ripped off his own subcontractor and left me with a total mess. Russ is the definition of a crook. He'll leave you with unfinished work, unpaid contractors, and a pile of garbage that costs you even more to fix. AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS. Worst experience ever.

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY -- Ongoing Issues, Poor Workmanship, and Unprofessional Conduct…read more We hired Altra Cool Deck in fall 2023 to repair a small area of our pool deck that had started to chip. Instead of repairing the small section, the company recommended redoing the entire deck so everything would match. For the first six months, everything appeared fine. Then the problems began. Within six months, multiple areas of the deck started bubbling, cracking, and chipping anytime the surface got wet. I contacted Altra, and they came out to "spot fix" the areas. Their repair was so thin you could see the bare concrete underneath, and it began chipping almost immediately. It took another month to get them back out, and their next "fix" was simply applying a thick layer of paint and coating over everything -- including debris on the deck -- and even painting our umbrella hole cover shut. That repair lasted about a year before the same issues returned. By June 2025, four different sections needed repairs. For nearly two months, Altra gave me the runaround. The owner, Michael, eventually called and said he would personally inspect the job because he believed it wasn't done correctly the first time. He explained that the job should have taken two days -- one for prep and sealing, and one for applying the cool deck. This process was never done. Despite promising to inspect the deck, Michael never showed. When we spoke again, he began blaming us, claiming our concrete was "bad." They then failed to show up for the scheduled repair and stopped answering calls. Two weeks later, they finally came out and once again scraped off the failing coating and applied another layer -- the same ineffective spot repair as before. Now, as of January 2026, the deck is worse than ever. Large portions are bubbling, chipping, and "crunching" underfoot. I emailed Michael directly to discuss a permanent solution. His response was dismissive and condescending. He insisted the issue was concrete "curing" -- even though our pool was installed over 20 years ago -- and became frustrated when asked to explain. He also complained about having to drive to Goodyear and insisted we didn't need to be present for his inspection, which, given our history with this company, was unacceptable. When he finally inspected the deck, he immediately blamed the concrete again and said he would only spot repair it one more time, after which our three‑year warranty would be void because his "responsibility would be over." When we told him we would not accept another temporary patch and wanted the job redone properly or refunded so we could hire a competent company, he stopped responding entirely. We have filed a complaint with the ROC and are awaiting their response. Save yourself the stress, time, and money -- do not hire this company.

Other businesses quoted me 4 days or two weeks depending on their crews. I had concerns about communicating with the crew I had scheduled with Altra since I was informed that they had a limited understanding of the English language. With Bresna translating over what I needed to say to the crew over the phone to them, this was easily taken care of! I usually wait a while before writing a review. It has been a week and I see no issues with Altra Cool Deck's job. I would AND have already recommended them to my friends and neighbors!
