Here is why they were fantastic: Responsive- returned our call promptly... yes we had to wait a bit for the appt but it was well worth it. On time- they were on time. Without this knowledge, I reached out to this company to lodge a complaint. Like I said... they weren't who I hired. Why is this important? I have been using The Irish Sweep for thirty years (I literally found an invoice from 1991). Sally and her crew are excellent, attentive to details and keep my house immaculate as they work. They clean the chimney, they have replaced bricks and the braided gasket around the door, installed a spark arrester on the chimney and came in a hurry when the stovepipe came apart one day. My wood burning stove is the only heat in the house, and I need it to burn clean so I don't cause my neighbors any health problems or get dinged if it is a spare the air day. My damper was not working and when I put my hand up there (wearing a glove, thank Darwin), it felt like there was 3 inches of soot in there. I was tired of taping plastic on the fireplace in winter. The front looked non-standard, so if I wanted a glass front, I'd have to get a pro. Even in summer, I did have to wait a couple of weeks for an appointment, but that's because they are good enough that they are busy in summer. The proprietor and her protege showed up in separate trucks exactly on time. Turns out that there was a fiddly bit to the damper I did not know about and it's just fine. The proprietor said I probably did not need the glass front because the damper is perfect and my screen that I had was just fine and a new one would be 1000$ anyway. All this while the other fellow cleaned the chimney without making a huge mess. They were on-time, done in 15 minutes, and did not do a big upsell and did not lie. We had the Irish Sweep in, during COVID-19, to clean and inspect our chimney. Sally, Mike and Jose were punctual, efficient, clean, very kind and very informed. In the end they advised we save our money and not get the inspection, reason being we have loose bricks inside our chimney and it would cost more to replace those than to get a gas insert. Which is something we mentioned being interested in. They left us a thorough list of professional referrals for our gas insert, along with fireplace measurements we can pass along.
