We walked in just before 7pm on a Tuesday and there were a lot of open tables on the main floor. They led us to the top floor and slowly we saw the tables fill up. Great vibes and they were playing the World Cup on a lot of TVs! I enjoyed my Wild game burger (a mix of regular ground beef, elk, and bison), replacing the swiss cheese with Canadian cheddar. The Iron Goat was strong and mighty, as was my appetite for some Canadian cuisine and a homey log cabin atmosphere. The Wild Game Burger gave me the whole province's worth of animal variety, all nestled safely under some outlandish toppings. The duck wings were a little dry, but quite fun, like my sense of humor. The Iron Goat Pub & Grill is a popular restaurant known for its fine dining and upscale pub food. It is located in a three-level timber frame building. What I loved about this place was the view of the surrounding mountain ranges from its two elevated patios. The Iron Goat Pub & Grill is also available for hosting private parties and other events. Here on vacation. This place looked amazing so we decided to give it a try. We got seated right away. Let me just say the inside is amazing! They have a huge fireplace and outside patio. We ordered 2 apps, the Cornbread and Nachos (No Olives) Cornbread with maple butter, fantastic. The Nachos came out with olives on them. Is it the end of the world, no, but when you put olives on something, the juice gets all over everything. I wanted a burger, but there's a Canadian law that states you can only get a burger well done in Canada? This might be the dumbest thing I've ever heard. I'm not blaming this place, but in general it's not cool. I ended up getting the pizza. It was OK, another guest got a pizza, my wife the ravioli, and a burger for my other friend. Came up to Alberta on vacation stopped in here first night. Fantastic meal. Duck wings were the star of the show. Ahi nachos were good I do think there was room for the chips to more dressed up. I got the wild game burger, bacon jam was a beautiful touch really brought the burger together for me. Poutine on the side was good the gravy was very flavorful while being light, gravy caught me by surprise. Excellent meal. Chris was accommodating us for the evening and was excellent. Came here on a Saturday night around 7 and it was PACKED. They don't have a huge parking lot - I almost left but I got lucky and someone was leaving as I pulled in the parking lot. This location isn't near much so you can't really park next door and walk. Once I got in, it was very busy, I was able to snag a seat at the bar in between two people. It took a while for me get greeted and get a drink. The bartenders were non-stop making craft cocktails which definitely slowed down the service. However, I ordered a beer and a cocktail and they were both very good. For food, I got the coconut shrimp salad. It was very good - every aspect of the salad was very fresh and the shrimp was delicious, but I was hoping for a little bit more shrimp for $22. Pretty good experience overall, but i think I'd avoid coming on a weekend night in the future. read more

Stopped in for my freebie Beer after hitting all three mountains. Was served by Jessica from Brantford, On and she was swell. Pulled out my ikon pass and said wanted to redeem the free beer with food purchase. She was so nice, we didn't know we had to go to the Big3 adventure hub, I must have read that wrong on the site-m. When the 2nd plate I tried had the inside of the meatloaf still cold, I asked the waiter if food was prepared early in the day & then just reheated. He admitted that yes things like the meatloaf were made in advance & then warmed in the oven. No way I could eat the meatloaf & mashed potatoes cold. On the 3rd try, everything was hot & tasted good. My 2 friends ordered the cornbread, butternut squash ravioli, & steak sandwich. Only the steak sandwich came out warm & tasty the 1st try. This was the only meal I didn't enjoy while visiting Canmore recently. The perks? It's got a great patio and great view -- so if you can get a spot outside and enjoy a drink you'll be fine. Easy to find via Google Maps. Lots of parking below the restaurant (have to climb a dozen stairs to get to it). Very cool front doors. Nice decor with big Southeast facing windows. Only 10% full Sunday at 10:30AM but full to 80% when we left at 11:30AM. Food took more than 15 minutes to arrive. Bathrooms are downstairs by the wine cellar. They were clean and spacious. Waiter was very cheery but we had issues with our orders. Our waters were constantly refilled which was great. I got the Brisket Breakfast with scrambled eggs. Scrambled eggs were kind of dry but I was okay with that. Cornbread was dry as well and sadly no real corn in it. Would have loved to see a side of margarine/butter to smear on it. Brisket was 20% fat but the meat was very tender and juicy so that was okay with me just took me a while to separate the fat from the edible. Potatoes were to die for. 10/10 soooo flavorful, crispy and delicious. Fruit was fresh but slightly less variety that I would have hoped. Friend got the Brisket Breakfast with a side of hollandaise. Side of hollandaise was Huge and in a fruit bowl - very generous. Friend said it was good. Her piece of brisket was 30% fat and she was unhappy with this. Friend got the Smoked Brisket Benny. 2 eggs cooked to his specifications (medium) were perfect. He loved the potatoes and liked the fresh pineapple. Friend got the breakfast poutine with duck. The waiter had to come back and confirm he had asked for duck. But when he got the dish he didn't find a speck of duck. So he told the waiter and the waiter said he would take it off the bill. Then when I got the bill it said the duck was added to the Benny breakfast but my friend who got the benny could not tell if he had eaten duck. So ? was it added to the Benny and my friend didn't notice? Or was it tagged onto the wrong dish just on the bill??? Either way the waiter did remove the charge. The friend who got the poutine was happy otherwise with his dish - eggs cooked perfectly. My friend who got the side of hollandaise was glad to see she wasn't charged for the hollandaise. Overall a little confusion but a great spot for bunch - would recommend! read more

My spouse and I visited the Iron Goat on a busy Friday, Feb 18th evening. We were lucky enough to get a reservation and glad we did! I'm basing my review not just on the food, but mostly because of the service we received tonight from Chris P. We were seated right away when we arrived and our server brought out waters right away. He gave us a few moments to look at the menu, but came back quickly to give us some recommendations. We asked what his favorite food menu items were and he quickly responded with quite a few items in each section of the menu (mains, pizza, appetizers, etc). For drinks, I had the Putin's Caribbean cocktail, my hubby had the Fernie Pilsner and then an Establishment Kolsch draft - both recommended by Chris. After we ordered our drinks, he mentioned to pick out a few menu items and then he'll rate our choices for us to help us decide. I was torn between the ribs, stroganoff and the game meatloaf. He instantly said the meatloaf was the way to go, and he was not wrong. It was delicious! We also started with the cornbread which was super good too! The cornbread had a great flavor to it, good crust, not too dry, but it was really crumbly. My game meatloaf came with mixed veggies, mashed potatoes and sauteed onions in gravy. The meatloaf is heavy but so delicious! Great flavor and texture. The veggies were your typical brocoli, cauliflower, peppers and zucchini, but they were really good too! Usually zucchini ends up being really soggy, but not this time! My spouse' striploin was cooked and seasoned perfectly. It came with fries and the same mixed veggies that I had too. For our food, it was all really delicious and we enjoyed our meals. What made the service from Chris even better, was that even though his section was packed and he was BUSY, he never rushed us. He took the time to make the recommendations and to answer our menu questions. He was incredibly pleasant and really seemed like he enjoyed his job. What is not to like here...great food, views and friendly staff. The restaurant itself is beautiful and comfortable with a laid-back attitude. We had the Game meatloaf and the blackened salmon for lunch, and it was excellent. Reasonably priced, came out hot and well presented. For dessert, we tried all of the cheesecakes and the berry cobbler...all were very good. We went back on getaway day for lunch as well and had all the same items. I dined here for the first time on May 26, 2024. The view, service and food were wonderful. Chris, my attentive server, knew the menu well and gave excellent recommendations. I started with the Chipotle Mango Duck Wings, followed by the Wild Game Meatloaf and for dessert the Saskatoon Berry Cobbler. Everything was delicious! The view of the mountains from the dining area is spectacular. This restaurant is off the beaten path so quiet and not busy with tourists.
