This bar/restaurant came highly recommended during our stay in Canmore so we checked it out an hour before closure on a Wednesday night. We were afraid we may not get in so late, but when we walked through the front door the place was packed! The restaurant has a modern look with nice spaced tables, unique sections and large glass window walls on 3 sides. We waited about 15mins to be seated. Their menu is perfect sized...about 5-7 selections per section: snacks, small plates, large plates, pizzas and pasta. We started with their bread and butter - the smoked tallow and charred onion butter was amazing. I ordered the shrimp and crab pasta which came on linguini and had chili oil and butter. It was good, but the highlight of the night came in the dessert - banana pie. I was skeptical at first but it was the best pie I've ever had! We had excellent service all night. We had 2 servers taking care of us and both were attentive and excellent. Our bar drinks came within a minute or two of ordering each time. I'm surprised by so many positive reviews for this place, the food was very basic, and maybe a step above a chain. Also when we went the air quality outside from smoke was horrible, but they had all their doors open and were seating people outside (maybe people wanted this, but it was definitely a miss for the ambiance). Service: Good, no issues here. Food: Very basic flavors circa mid 2010s. Tuna Crudo - drowned in a sauce that tastes like campbells tomato soup. If you have a good quality tuna, you don't need to drown it in anything. Trout - Overcooked, mashed potatoes immersed in salt. No flavor other than salt. This restaurant is amazing! The kitchen seemed well organized and there is clearly a head chef who cares about the quality of the food. It's clear that they're using all fresh ingredients, the kitchen is cleaned daily and all storage bins you can see in the kitchen are clearly labeled (which shows they take food safety seriously). My wife and I came here several times during our vacation and tried many dishes. We were so excited there was such a good restaurant within walking distance of our vacation rental. This restaurant also is open later than most in the Canmore area which was needed after our long days exploring the national parks. The bit of feedback I'd have is in regard to the noise level inside the dining room was a little loud, but didn't make conversations at the table hard. Eggplant fries- 9/10, these were well seasoned and delicious! They came with a tasty dipping sauce. Smashed potatoes- 10/10. These were cooked very well and had an amazing aioli! Cucumber salad- 10/10, the cucumber and tahini flavor makes it a fresh tasting dish for the summer, but the toasted almond and chili elevates it to the next level. This is a very well made dish. Beet salad- 8/10, light, healthy and tasty. Could use a little more salt, but otherwise is very delicious! Fries- 9/10 Hand cut fries, clearly not frozen. They seem to be correctly fried with a fluffy interior and a crispy outside. Salt on them was right on and the aioli for dipping was good (though for the price they could have given a bit more). Trout- 6/10. The trout was cooked perfectly but the mashed potatoes had way too much butter and the butter was overpowering. The spinach was also too salty. Halibut- 9/10, this dish was excellent! The flavors came together in the perfect way. The brioche pieces to dip in the broth were such a nice addition! This is a perfect example of a very well balanced dish! Only critique here is the halibut was a little overcooked. Beef strip steak- 10/10 The smoky flavor they get on this in a restaurant is amazing, it tastes like it was cooked outside over charcoal. In addition, the has-brown side potatoes that come with this are so delicious, please give us more than two! :) The only critique I would have for his would be to let the steak rest longer before slicing as a bunch of juice had run down my plate (which usually means even more stayed on the cutting board). Ricotta dumplings- 8/10 These are a pretty unique dish and the best way I can describe them is that they're raviolis with no pasta. The flavor on this dish is almost entirely from the sauce, which makes me think this dish could benefit from having something else in it with the dumplings (maybe meatballs and dumplings instead of just dumplings?) Wagyu beef carpaccio- 10/10 The mushroom broth that these are sitting in so perfectly complements the flavor of the beef that the first bite is almost hard to believe. The beef is full of flavor and the broth really helps bring that out. Banana pie- 7/10 The overall flavor on the pie is really good, but it's surprisingly missing a stronger banana flavor. The crust on it is a bit too thick, which makes cutting it with the side of a fork for a bite almost impossible. The toasted marshmallow on top is delicious and overall it's a good dessert. Chocolate pot de creme- 10/10, The flavor almost reminds me of a fudge brownie, but with the texture of almost a pie. The crumbled chocolate on top was really good, but the star is that chocolate underneath. If you love chocolate or brownies especially, then you'll love this. My wife does not like cherry but even she enjoyed eating all the chocolatey/non-cherry parts of this dessert. Chicken sausage pizza - 8/10, The toppings were good and the cheese level was correct, but the pizza itself was a little undercooked. I was trying to find a place to eat for dinner that was within walking distance from my Airbnb and Bridgette bar was the closest place I could find. If you're wondering what the vibe is like based off pictures, I can validate that the bar/restaurant atmosphere leans upscale. I came for the food and drink and after one glance at the menu, the prospects were promising. Arriving as a walk-in, I ended up sitting at the bar and ordered 2 appetizers. I had their Elk Carpaccio and Roasted Brussel sprouts. Both were delicious however between the two, the Elk was my favorite. Their cocktail menu was pretty good too. Eggplant fries were crispy and good. The ricotta dumplings were a little disappointing and each bite was very dense, which was not my favorite. We came to Bridgette bar in Canmore after a long day of hiking when the weather was incredibly cold out. Bridgette bar was warm and cozy on the inside feeling like a dimly lit log cabin. The ambiance was romantic and comforting and all of the staff were incredibly kind and accommodating. I mentioned that I had a sesame allergy and they helped me to pick out dishes that have no sesame and even took extra time to point out lactose friendly entrees. The dishes we decided to order and share were the crab toast, the maple bbq rainbow trout and the banana pie (which I took lactaid for). My goodness, just when I thought one dish was great each one blew me away with how delicious they were! Out of the three however my absolute favorite was the maple bbq rainbow trout. The fish was so incredibly buttery soft I could barely pick it up with my fork, and just the slightest tap made it crumble. It was atop this creamy mashed potato with a maple gravy and greens which melt in my mouth. I cannot recommend Bridgette bar more highly! While staying in Canmore, my girlfriend and I decided to check out Bridgette Bar since it was highly recommended by others online and I'm glad I did. We did a walk-in for dinner here, and we thankfully were able to be seated relatively quickly. The interior is very modern and nice, with cozy vibes for when it gets cold outside. We decided to get the Crab Toast, the Maple BBQ Rainbow Trout, and the Banana Pie. These were all excellent, with lots of flavor in each one. The crab toast was light and crispy, while the trout was super juicy with a great sauce on it. The Banana Pie was one I decided to order after seeing them slice it for others, and I have to say that it is a great dessert. The outside is toasted nicely, while the inside is filled with banana cream, coffee, and rum caramel. If you're in Canmore, this is probably the restaurant that you want to check out. read more

Parking is tricky, there is construction in much of the area and street parking is very limited. There is a free parkcade nearby, so definitely look that up before going. The service is inexcusably slow. Our 11:45am reservation (we were the only people in the entire restaurant for quite some time) ended up waiting almost 2 hours to get our food, with no reassurance from our server that it was coming out soon. When I walked past the open kitchen I saw several employees doing prep work/cutting vegetables. This seriously needs to be addressed. For this reason alone, I would not return, and is the reason for the low rating. The drinks and food were good, I highly recommend the mushroom pizza. The atmosphere is pleasant, and there is a lot of natural light in the space, so sunglasses may be necessary if you're by the windows. read more

We came here last night for my birthday dinner. Our evening began with a beautiful surprise and delight from seeing a birthday card signed by the staff when being brought to the table. This simple little gesture set the tone for our entire dining experience. Our waiter Jacob was super attentive and was always in top of our orders despite a busy Friday night at the restaurant. We also made his life easier by knowing what we wanted by reading through the drink, food and dessert menus online beforehand. We have always read the menus ahead of time if we knew where we were going. Every single one of our drinks and food orders was unforgettably delicious last night. My husband had the Canmore Brewing Highline Largered Blonde and I opted for the Alpenglow Sour cocktail with rye whiskey. Both were light but stimulating for our taste buds to accommodate what was to come. Our eggplant fries were super crispy on the outside. The eggplant inside was warm and soft but not mushy at all. The spices of the coating was just right and not over powering. The yogurt dip helped bring all the flavours together. Our shared 24 oz T-bone steak and green beans came together. The steak was grilled perfectly medium rare. It has a good amount of fat and the meat was very tender as well. It was flavourful enough that my husband didn't even use the peppercorn sauce served on the side. The green beans were served chilled and its crispiness was actually perfectly paired with the steak. Our dinner was capped off with a huge banana pie with similar ingredients to a banoffee pie. It came with a sparkler, of course, for my birthday. The restaurant is deep in a quiet residential neighbourhood about a 20-minutes pleasant walk along the river from downtown. What a lovely and lively dinner! This place in a Sunday night was hopping! Fun vibes! Great service! Tasty eats! They have a really nice wine, beer and cocktail list. Lots to choose from. We started with the elk carpaccio and the cauliflower. Both are excellent. The elk carpaccio is tender and you can actually taste the elk....they don't try to hide it in sauce and toppings. While the cheese looks like it overpowers the dish... It doesn't. The cauliflower is an appetizer but can be a side veg if you are looking for a veg to share for the table. Cauliflower was perfectly roasted. I had the octopus salad as my main because I wasn't super hungry, and it was perfect for me. The octopus was nice and meaty...and the fennel was light and crisp. The vinaigrette was a little too much for me... I could have done with a lighter touch of it. But still quite tasty! The banana pie was Fantastic! It is pretty big and sweet...so keep that in mind when you order it. The table next to us ordered it and we were commenting how amazing it looked so they gave us a slice of it which was still too much for me. Haha! Overall.... Wish I knew what their food tasted like. It looked good. We went for happy hour to have a couple drinks and a snack at about 4:20pm. Went to the hostess stand and asked to sit at the bar at the two empty seats. The hostess told us there was a wait for the bar seating but she'd put us on the list. She said it would be about 30 minutes but she'd try to seat us before happy hour ended at 5. I asked if we could order a drink while we waited and she said no, their policy was no standing room at the bar. That's disappointing, but fine. It was busy and I can sympathize with bar staff if they're slammed. We were third on the list and a lot of tables looked like they were finishing up. We waited a few minutes and 6 (!!!) people got up and left the bar. We waited. And waited. And I asked about the empty bar seats and was told I was still 3rd on the list. The restaurant emptied out by about a third as it got closer to 5. At 4:55, I told her to take my name off the list (I was still 3rd in line) because I wouldn't be able to have any happy hour drinks by this point after staring at 8 empty seats for the better part of 30 minutes. The hostess then said happy hour last call was 4:30. THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN GOOD TO KNOW 30 minutes ago after I said I was there for happy hour drinks. Made a reservation for our trip to Canmore which I would recommend. It wasn't as crowded when we arrived but when we were leaving others without reservations had a little bit of a wait. Food was absolutely wonderful. We ordered the maple trout, fennel salami, elk carpaccio, and a bottle of wine. We settled for the carpaccio because they didn't have the bison tartar and it was recommended by our waiter. However I would not recommend the carpaccio. Some type of cracker/bread/crostini would really elevate it and off set the saltiness of the dish. Main dishes of maple bbq trout and fennel salami pizza were delicious. I preferred the trout over the pizza. The trout was perfectly cooked, a slightly crispy outside, and wasn't overly maple/bbq flavor -- wasn't "saucy" (5/5). However the fennel salami was definitely good, just not my favorite for the night. Fennel salami had a great balance to savory/sweet/smokey ratio (4/5). Was thin and crispy, I believe cooked over a wood fire. We were seated very quickly with the reservation and the host/hostess staff was very nice. Only complaint would be our waiters promptness. The patio has tables very close within each other so we could see/listen to the waiter small talking/chatting, which is totally fine....but we were having to track down water and fill up our own. As well as wait 10-15 minutes to find him and catch him walking by to wait another 10-15 minutes. Patio was very cute and comfortable. Great ambiance with a lot of seating.
