It would take them about 20-30 minutes to bring us drinks and we were not getting any fancy cocktails (mostly just beer and wine). I want to give this place a good review (look at my drink and this view!!!) but I cannot. Our party of 5 sits down at 7:15 and orders drinks relatively quickly. Server comes back to take our orders but we aren't ready. She doesn't come back until 8:15 pm when we order. By 8:50 our food isn't out yet and we ask the manager. He goes to check. Server comes back at 9 and says it'll just be a few minutes and apologizes. Manager comes over a few minutes later and apologizes and says they'll definitely comp some of our meal. Food comes out at 9:25 pm (And they forgot an item, but that's literally the least of our worries). Couldn't even see what we were eating it was so dark out at this point. When we get the check, they only comped 15% of the meal and already added a 20% tip because we were a large group. Check took awhile too and we weren't able to leave until 10 pm. Food was average. This is a good place to grab drinks since you can order cocktails that are pretty tasty and strong while enjoying the views from the rooftop! There are two bars and the views range, depending on where you're sitting. Unfortunately they don't have a happy hour. I've noticed the cocktail items change, so some of the drinks may be different. I like the "fall in love with yourself" cocktail since it's sweet! Service is quick and they stop by to check on your table quite often. Appetizers taste good but seem a bit random. The elevator getting to and from the rooftop is a little slow. read more

I love the J. Parker. I've been here numerous times and it's always a favorite spot. I've never eaten here, but have often had their wine or cocktails. I love sitting in the outdoor area in the summer with the view of Lincoln park. They also have cozy seating for larger groups on sofas and chairs! The service has been good each time I've been. They don't take reservations though so sometimes on the weekends it might be harder to get a seat. They also do close for private events and that's always a sad realization walking into the Lincoln hotel and finding out they aren't open to the public. This happens more often around the holidays. I'd recommend calling before if you have specific plans to go here to ensure it's not closed for a private event. read more

Came here for the first time on a Sunday exactly at 3 o'clock for opening During covid. We waited in line for almost 40 minutes just to be standing outside in the line then inside the hotel lobby then finally getting a table upstairs. The menu is limited whether it be the All day menu or the breakfast menu or the drinks I find also limited. It is a full bar so I'm sure he'll make any cocktail however they also charge $7.50 for one white claw can and only offer one flavor. When I went the crowd was pretty diverse and eclectic as is the staff. Views are incredible from anywhere that you sit especially if you can get up to the glass. Restrooms are very clean which was great to see. Because we went on a Sunday we got very lucky with street parking which is free. Any other day be prepared to pay and or fight to try to find parking within a reasonable walking distance without having to go to a garage or valet your car. This is a hip young happening place of the city to be hanging out in. Definitely a great place to bring visitors but not necessarily a dining or drinking destination. read more

Parker J lounge only - Top 2 cocktails were unavailable (likely due to the olive oil infused gin) but the server had no idea until AFTER orders were made and had to come back and tell us. Also, later on, a syrup was not available for a different cocktail... on a Saturday that wasn't busy nonetheless. The whole place smells musty because of the plants they are trying to grow! It smells like a greenhouse and NOT in a good way. The gnats are also not pleasant to have flying around the overly sweet drinks. Concrete furniture is chipped and sharp all over too. Bussers took a friend's drink twice before they were finished without any notice. The fries are mediocre and need be fried longer/more crispy. Olives are overly salted and the spices/herbs added overpower the nice texture and flavor the olives do have. ALSO $16 for a low ABV cocktail is absurd, that is the same price as a normal cocktail on the menu. Find new mixologist to figure out a better menu. read more

Have been wanting to try this place for a bit, but the entire dining experience was no more than average and underwhelming. They don't take reservations but if you call ahead and ask to be put on their waiting list, that's the best you'll get for a "reservation." The rooftop bar is located on the roof of the Hotel Lincoln. Upon sitting down, I noticed they had a rather small-ish menu. I tend to always refer to the staff choice on drinks and food, but when I asked, the response of "oh I don't know it just depends on my mood, I can't really tell you" was shared. Not impressed. I settled for a Moscow Mule which was in a glass (not traditional copper cup) and was average as well. We ordered the J Parker burger and Western Burger, both had truffle fries. Burgers were good but definitely weren't $17 good. The views were underwhelming as well. The theme for the entire evening was average... average experience, average drinks and food, average server, average view. I'd take your average vibe somewhere else. read more

This rooftop lounge is located inside of the cutest boutique hotel. We went on a Sunday afternoon to celebrate a birthday. We must've chose the right time to come because within a hour the rooftop was packed. Our service however was great to say we had a rather large party. The food and drink menu however was extremely limited. The bartenders were able to make cocktails which were off the menu. We enjoyed lemon drops, side cars and mimosas. Located on the corner of N Clark St and N Lincoln Ave, a perfect place to get to do you're taking a Divvy bike like I did! There's a Divvy station right across the street. Located in Hotel Lincoln which itself is a pretty cool establishment that I had never been to! It's north of downtown so you get a beautiful view of the city away from ask the tall buildings. The way the rooftop is situated, about 75% off the seating is behind this huge wall with a face on it that blocks the city. The rest is able to see the city but for the most part it's pretty hard to see. Food was actually really good!! The wings were BOMB, and the grilled cheese was delicious as well!! Drinks were pricey (to be expected for a rooftop in Chicago) but were very unique! It's open seating and everyone was very friendly and so were the staff. Very very loud!! WHAT? IT IS VERY VERY LOUD. Why don't these trendy new places realize they need soft surfaces to absorb sound? It was seat yourself. Leaving the elevator we went right and quickly realized how packed and loud it was. So we then went left. It is minimally quieter and not as packed. We initially went with water for our drink. None of the signature cocktails sounded good. We ordered things to share. A Ceasar Salad, Grilled Cheese and Fries , Buffalo Cauliflower. When our food arrived we decided on drinks. I got a Long Island Iced Tea , Husband wanted something with Chambord. They made him a French Martini. Grilled Cheese was great. Cheesy and buttery. Fries were good and crispy. Salad was a good Ceasar. Buffalo Cauliflower was ok. I wish they would have deep-fried them longer. The outside on about half of them was soggy. I liked the shaved celery. Long Island Iced Tea was excelent. Haven't had one of those for years. Husband liked his French Martini. I don't think I'm their demographic but I liked the music that was being played. I'd say over half the songs I heard played are on my phones play list. :) PS to business. One of the chairs at our table had a very lose leg. First you start off confused on how to get to the rooftop as you walk in through the Lincoln hotel, discover where the elevators to the 12th floor are and maze yourself through the hallways of the hotel until you can walk another three flights of stairs to finally arrive at the rooftop. Then be served by the most underwhelming service I've ever had. The host was no where to be found for a good 15 mins at the door, zero effort to accommodate the wait and then allows a groups behind us a table with no reservations. Mind you they have to walk past the MUST HAVE A RESERVATION sign. Why bother with a sign if no one follows it? And why demand for reservations when we were seated way past our set times? Secondly the waiter took 45-1 hr to ASK for our drink order. Zero explanation on who the man was, what was being served, what the place offers, ext. I personally thought he was helping the waiter who was backed up. I even asked him when we were going to get served and he apologized saying that he was busy. We saw him come out for other tables twice, not sure how busy he could've been but it wasn't worth over an hr wait time as no one was served the entire night continuously. At least the food was decent for how underwhelming the view was. Maybe they're undergoing new management, new design construction or just don't care for the quality representation of a rooftop restaurant. I can't say the photos online match the overall ambiance or the place. Overall, find somewhere else. read more

We came here after getting brunch at the Kennison on a Sunday and it was the perfect environment for the day. It was beautiful and a nice temperature with the covered roof. Our waiter, Ibrahim, super nice and attentive and overall just contributed to a great time here. For drinks I got an espresso martini and a scorpio rising. Each were $15. The place is kind of pricey, but you're paying for the atmosphere and the view as well as the drink. The scorpio rising was probably one of the prettiest drinks with little sparkles and stars in it. We also got Truffle Fries ($10) and Crispy Brussels Sprouts ($11) to share. Both were great and good for sharing. Overall I love this spot. There aren't enough rooftops in Lincoln Park, so this is a really nice addition to the area. Although you can find the same drinks for less at other places in Chicago, this spot offers some pretty good views of the lake and the city. It's a great place to show friends from out of town. The view from the roof top at J Parker is fantastic and the wait service was friendly and efficient. The music was loud, not great for a dinner conversation. My primary issue with the place was that the menu is a little simplistic and ordinary. The food was good and our party liked it for what it was, especially the Chicago hot dogs. However, based on the location and the information from our friends who live In Chicago, honestly I was expecting more interesting food. I think the menu could be upgraded to food that is still Chicago oriented but more dynamic and unique. The place has great potential, and I hope J Parker can go to the next level. read more

Worst server ever! Even if you have view but a rude server you won't like it, would you? We visited the place on April 6th 2024 around 1pm. After reaching the rooftop, we were greeted fine with the person at the entrance. After being seated, our server was rude and lied. He had attitude problem with us. He wanted us to leave the seat and go sit somewhere else. Let me tell you we hadn't occupied a bigger couch than the number of people we were. He probably wanted the girls who started talk to him soon after we sat, he comes back to us and said you can't sit here, it is reserved. On which I asked him what time is the reservation. He didn't have an answer. I don't remember at what point but he rudely said "No". On which went inside asked the gentleman at the entrance if we can still sit where we are sitting point him to our place and asked if there is any reservation. He gently replied that it's perfectly fine sitting where we are currently seated. After getting back to the seat, he still had attitude problem. This two star, isn't counting the slow service because I understand people want you to slow down at place with good ambience. read more

Hotel Lincoln is located on Clark street directly across the street from Lincoln Park. On the top floor is a beautiful rooftop restaurant JParker. Here you will find glass enclosed seating that faces the east sun with the heater to your back..this means on a relatively cool 51° Chicago day....your breakfast/brunch experience will feel like you are sitting in 75° oasis. Breakfast is walkup to the counter and you provide your order. The cashier/waiter is so sweet and as attentive as he can be being a one man wait/cashier band! Did I mention the view was breathe taking!!! French toast was soooooo good with strawberries and just the right amount of powdered sugar! The scrambled eggs were perfect. Chilly afternoon turned out to be a good reason to stop for a drink at the J Parker rooftop bar. The view was inviting, worth waiting for since the line downstairs was quite long. We arrived 30 min before opening and waited in the lobby of the hotel for a host to let everyone upstairs. I liked our drinks recommended by a waitress . She was super attentive and pleasant. The view and the drinks are the highlights of this rooftop. The food is not bad , but the options are rather limited to your typical bar menu : sandwiches with fries , cheeseburgers, etc . Unfortunately we were treated with the most unprofessional response to a reservation that was made months earllier and turned away. We were told our reservation was cancelled due to a total buyout of the rooftop and someone should have contacted us to cancel. I asked to speak to a manager and was told no problem but them somehow the manager was offsite and could only be reached by phone. I was put in contact with Alec Just who repeatedly told me how sorry he was for the cancelling and lack of notice. He kept offering to honor the reservation any other night which of course didnt work for us. He promised to help us make it right by allowing us to use the space another time and give us a deal. WE will see if that happens but certainly did nothing to allow us to spend the night we had planned for months. The young man who was sent by Alec to deliver the bad news was was apologetic and professional. The seeming ease with which we were dismissed was rude and unprofessional. Alec told me he would use my experience in a training seminar to his staff as an example of what not to do. A little background of the lengths I went to to secure the reservation. I had other options and plenty of time to get a reservation elsewhere if anyone anywhere along the process had indication the rooftop was not available that day. My daughter was coming into town with friends and wanted to treat them to all Chicago has to offer. We decided to book a rooftop for cocktails and mingling after dinner. The J parker had good reviews a great location and ambiance. I began trying to secure the reservation about three months ahead of time. Since it was so far out I could not make a reservation online so I called. The recording told me to leave a message and someone would get back to me. The first message I left was probably early March. After waiting a few days in between I would call back and leave another message. No response. I decided to send an email. I received a response email on April 29th saying they received my request and that someone would be reaching out to me within 24 hours. It also contained a link to a guest portal. When following the link it reflected our reservation for 10 people on June 14th. There was an option to send a message from the portal. I messaged at least 5 different times just asking to confirm the reservation. No response. As the date got closer I wanted to confirm. I made at least 15 phone calls all getting to a point in the system where i was asked to leave a messege. I tried every button on the messeges to get to speak with a person. The closest I got was a representative from Hyatt corporate who said they would transfer me directly to the hotel. I was disconnected. One week before the reservation I waited on hold for over 30 minutes to speak with the front desk When I finally got someone I explained my efforts to confirm the reservation and was told someone would call me back shortly. No call. I will be happy to amend this review if Alec makes good on his offer. read more
