    Bug on fry
    Lauren F.

WHAT THE!!! This was actually the worst dining experience I've had in Chicago. Not only was the wait staff short handed (likely not their fault) and inattentive, the amount of BUGS that were flying around was absolutely disgusting. We had to change tables, and once we did and got our food, there were multiple bugs on my fries (pictured) and chicken sandwich. I asked the waitress to comp my meal and the wine (which also had multiple bugs swimming around) and she did, but honestly the entire meal should have been free. We were swatting away bugs the entire time. Awful.

Wow! Such a wonderful place! Amazing views of the city and Lake Michigan. Located on the roof of Hotel Lincoln, it's a great venue in Lincoln Park. Thank you to Abe for taking such great care of me and my best friend. Excellent service! I loved the mocktail that was created for me. My Caesar salad with fried chicken was delicious too. The Chicago Beef flatbread was fantastic!!! We watched the sunset here and it was gorgeous! Indoor and outdoor seating. Relaxing atmosphere and great vibes. The decor and lighting are modern, warm, and inviting. I will definitely be back!

We went as a big party to J Parker for a friend's birthday. The views and ambience are amazing. Great city views, open rooftop and we even got to see the Wednesday fireworks. The service was VERY slow. We had to wait 30 mins for the server to just come and greet us and hand out the menus. She took another 20 mins to come back to get the order. The drinks and the food, however, were great! We ordered the cheese curds, nachos, fries, onion rings, etc. The French 75 was my favorite cocktail of the night. I will be back but maybe with a smaller party to get better service.

The J. Parker rooftop is beautiful...the hotel entrance and elevator ride up set the tone, and the views are absolutely stunning. The vibe is open, colorful, and chic. We sat by the fire pit (which meant ordering at the bar instead of table service), and while the seating wasn't the most comfortable, the atmosphere made up for it. Fabian, the bartender, was fantastic...friendly, creative, and even made us a custom coconut-based drink that was amazing. He also surprised us with shots. Food was solid across the board: my shredded beef nachos were delicious, the wing sauce was tasty (though the boneless wings were a bit nugget-sized), and the chips and salsa were a hit. Everyone at the table enjoyed their meals, and I'd definitely return for both the food and the service. Downsides: no to go boxes, no change for larger bills, and a misleading TikTok promo (3 courses for $30) that they said hasn't been offered in a long time. Those things were frustrating, but overall, the experience was still very good. Bottom line: stunning views, great service (shoutout to Fabian), tasty food...it's worth going back.

Went for brunch on a Sunday morning. Food was not bad but not great. Wouldn't order anything again except for the bacon. They also said they were out of hashbrowns and asked us if tater tots were fine. We said yes expecting regular tater tots but they crumbled it up themselves and was not great. This place is definitely more of a bar than a restaurant. Vibes were kind of weird during the day. Our server was very nice but the rest of the staff seemed to want us to leave immediately.

Living in the South Loop makes it a little bit hard to get up north/Linclon Park but had a brunch date at this cool rooftop. Cute medium size hotel, with a great rooftop. Try to get a table/seat with the umbrella because during the summer, it's really hot up there. Beautiful views and great places to take pictures but on a hot day, you definitely need water along with the bottomless mimosas lol. The food was really good; I had the waffles and my friend had the modern breakfast. Of course we had the bottomless mimosa/rosé. All delicious. A little pricey but I'm glad I came.

We recently visited The J Parker to celebrate a friend's birthday on a weekday! We ordered a lot of things - beers, espresso martinis, wine, french 75 and a vodka martini drink. For food, we ordered onion rings, guac and chips, cheese curds, fries, nachos without meat! The food and service were very mediocre and hence I have reduced a few stars. The guac was a bit bland and onion rings were too oily! Definitely visit the place though for beautiful skyline views.

The views here are really pretty. That's about he nicest thing I can say about this place. Went here for dinner on a Saturday night not too busy but the service was lacking. Only checked On once after ordering food. I asked 3 different people for water and it took about 30min for someone to fill it. Our server also messed up our bill. The food was similar to Applebees except twice the price. Chicken wings were just chickens tenders with more salt. Burger was solid. Fries again were super salty. Would not recommend this place except for a quick drink.

Although another rooftop bar in Chicago may claim to have Chicago's best view, I think I'm partial to the view at The J Parker. This is such a great spot to stop in for a drink and take in the spectacular views of the city, parks, and lake. We came here on a whim after a quick rooftop bar search and I'm so glad we found it! They have tables with servers, but we opted to order at the bar and sit at the couch in the corner which was open seating. We were here on a Friday afternoon and there were a few other groups in this area when we arrived, but after a while we had the whole couch section to ourselves. I ordered wine and my boyfriend cocktails. The drinks were a little inconsistent in pour size and taste depending on which bartender was taking your order, but we still enjoyed sipping while looking out at the wonderful view.

My experience is from a Happy Hour in June 2024: I'm not sure where to begin. They have REALLY awesome views of Lake Michigan and great views of Lincoln Park. But their happy hour is severely lacking. They have a few drink specials, and a few food items on the HH menu, but they were totally out of food when we were there (30 minutes after Happy Hour started). They were not able to make most of the drinks on the HH menu because they were out of this and out of that. The beer list is severely lacking. They have nothing on draft, it's only cans and a very limited selection at that (they were even out of one of the big brands 30 minutes after happy hour started). The service was also very lacking - very slow and we were hardly checked on. Bottom line - go for the awesome views, but don't expect a decent selection of drinks or decent service (or food).

Mediocre at best, please take your money to another rooftop in Chicago and let me tell you why. First off, it is very nice up there but there is not even much of a skyline view of Chicago based on how the building is situated, but that is not a dealbreaker. However, what is a dealbreaker is the fact that we showed up during opening, and half of the menu isn't even available because it's not fully prepped yet. If you call yourself a fine establishment, shouldn't everything on your menu be prepped for opening time at 11am on a Saturday? Despicable. However, it gets worse... The service was subpar, it took a very long time for things to be ready which made us late for our afternoon baseball game, and the food was very average as well. Also, they overcharged us a salad which we explained to them and they kindly took away, but charged us for it on our tab! With how late we were for the game, I did not see it as worth it to use another 15min of our time to call them over and demand a refund. Please avoid this place, and take your business to a better rooftop.

Three well-dressed, non-revealing women tried visiting this place after having a wonderful brunch at Americano (adjacent to the Lincoln hotel). I already had doubts, about two years ago I had a friend who was murdered here, but since I didn't realized where I was I hoped we'd be safe on a Sunday afternoon. However, to my surprise, we didn't received a welcomed greeting;, I get it was raining so uncovered tables shouldn't seat patrons, but there was open seating. We were told the place had no seating and that we could go stand at the bar after inquiring (staff also went to confirm). Upon approaching we were handed what they claim to be an outdated menu which said Sun-Thur was happy hour, when we mentioned it to staff his unprofessional reply was "you can order whatever you want, just not at that price" WTH I didn't create the menu. Bye Felicia we took our leave, I refuse to give you a dime. As most reviews say the drinks are overpriced and I didn't see anything so great about the views. In addition, it's obvious management could care less, as there is no reply to any of these reviews. I don't recommend going here. PS - beware of the janky elevator it quickly closed in my friend she could have gotten hurt.

Great views from the rooftop. Service was a little slow. They need to rethink black metal furniture on the rooftop or add cushions - way too hot!

We made a reservation ahead of time, which I'd definitely recommend, but it wasn't overly packed and we were seated without any issues. The vibe in there is top tier. Dim lighting, live music energy, and just the right mix of chill and upscale. It's the kind of place where you can actually enjoy the atmosphere without feeling rushed. This was my second time here and I remember it being just as good back in 2022. The drinks were immaculate. I had two mocktails that were both well-balanced (not overly sweet, which I appreciate), and he ordered an old fashioned. People were standing right behind me to order drinks; I didn't feel overly crowded by any means but some who aren't used to that kind of bar/clubby vibe might feel that way. The music was a little loud to be heard over all the folks there, but I wasn't talking to anyone so it didn't bother me (was just sitting and reading a book). The bartender was really nice and attentive despite the fact that the place was so packed. I had a drink called the "Gentle Fish" which the bartender rec'd as a sweeter/more floral drink. Admittedly it was a little strong, but the flavor was nice! It was different from most other drinks I've had, and I enjoyed it. Was strong enough I definitely did not need another though. Of note, this place is downstairs under "The Hoxton" hotel, there's no entrance directly to the bar from the sidewalk/street (you have to enter the hotel lobby, then follow the signs toward the back and go down the elevator and/or stairs). There is a person who checks your ID when you enter and seats you if seats are available. The bathrooms were very clean. Not sure about parking but street parking is definitely very limited; I imagine a paid lot would probably be the easiest thing or taking the train from wherever you're staying if you can (which is what I did).

Imagine my shock when we didn't even make it past the bouncer because he was so rude, AS OTHER RECENT REVIEWS HAVE MENTIONED AS WELL! We had dinner nearby and walked to Bisous after, and saw there was a line of 5 or 6 people outside. We expected this as we knew Bisous is a first come, first serve bar. We were curious what the wait time would look like, so we approached the front door to ask a host or employee inside (we assumed there'd be a desk with an employee working it who could give us a wait time). We had no problem waiting, just wanted to see how long they estimated it would be! Before we could even fully open the door, the bouncer swung the door open from the other side and hit me with the door. I stumbled back a few steps and he looked at us and said, and I quote, "What do you want?". I laughed at first because I thought he was joking and putting on a tough guy act. He was not. We quickly explained we just wanted to see what the wait time was, and he said "don't you see there's a line outside?" We said yes, and explained we just wanted to know a rough estimated wait time. He just blankly stared at us while ushering us out. Both my boyfriend and I have worked in customer-service roles for a very, very long time. This encounter was not only extremely rude and unprofessional, but he also hit me hard enough with the door to send me stumbling back, and then said nothing about it and continued to address us in a tone that was nothing less than annoyed and irritated. We didn't end up going inside because that encounter left such a bad taste in our mouths. I don't believe in spending my money at establishments that don't treat their customers with the bare minimum respect they deserve! Bummed we didn't get to experience it, as I'm sure it was lovely inside and I can only hope the rest of the employees were much more kind and accommodating, or at least able to answer a simple question. An extraordinary cocktail experience that's absolutely worth it for a fun date night or a group…read moreouting. The bird-themed cocktail menu brings both creativity and drama, with presentations that feel almost theatrical. What really elevates the experience is how the hosts narrate the inspiration behind each drink, making it feel more like a storytelling session than just a night out. The mixologists deserve serious credit for their thoughtful experimentation with global flavors--balancing complementary and contrasting notes, surprising textures, and sensory touches that feel nostalgic and adventurous at the same time. The food holds its own too. Don't miss the giant onion ring or the Chip n Dip--both are as fun as they are delicious. Yes, it's on the pricier side, but the cocktail tasting experience makes it worthwhile. A perfect late-night spot for great conversations and drinks that ooze personality.

I'll start by saying I've been a huge fan of The Aviary for years. In the early days of the…read morepandemic, I got all their cocktail books, and my friends and I bought some of the equipment (vacpot, porthole) and started making Aviary drinks. So when I went to Chicago to visit friends recently, this was my first reservation. We were kindly greeted and seated toward the rear of the dining room. Collectively, we ordered more than half the beverages on the menu. I won't go into tons of detail on them, since some drinks are seasonal, but I will say that it was a blast experiencing craft cocktails and mocktails at their finest. I love the menu concept of the birds that fly farther along the page to indicate how alcohol-forward the drink is. That's a really fun idea! One friend ordered both the spirited and the non-alcoholic Porthole to compare the flavors. And we all liked the N/A version better! Our server kindly came over and mentioned that he heard I was inspired by The Aviary and they took us on a private tour with the bar team and then down to the ice making room, which I LOVED because I was obsessed with the intricate ice making process from the original cocktail books. What a fantastic experience, and the tour put a cherry on top. Long live The Aviary!

The portion size isn't huge but there's a LOT of fat in this so it will make you feel full! I had had a drink beforehand too so I wasn't "starving," and I left pretty comfortably full. I was seated upstairs at the bar (there's an up and a downstairs bar) and the bartender was very nice, they served me pretty quick. I didn't hang about long but there were several couples clearly on dates, and I would say it's a nice spot for that -- not the fanciest, but certainly more upscale than casual. Bathrooms were immaculate too! Of note, I didn't have a car but saw metered parking directly out front and along the whole street there in shopping area. It was VERY packed but there was a lot of turnover so I imagine if you drove you wouldn't have to circle too long before finding a spot.

We decided to dine at the bar so we could take advantage of the everyday happy hour and use our InKind app. The espresso martini was a HIT. Our favorites were the chips and dips, cheeseburger, chicken taco pita, truffle fries, and oysters. The wings were just okay and I did not love the herb aioli. Our bartender server, I believe her name was Delia, sorry if I spelled it wrong, was super nice. She got slammed but still gave great service the whole time. The ambience is gorgeous and the music really set the vibe. Would definitely come back!

Even the area they kept water for easy access was well thought out. I started with a dozen oysters and ended with the wagyu smash burger, as it was a must order. The oysters are $1 during happy hour, which is 4pm - 6pm everyday. The oysters were fresh and the perfect size, not too big or too small. It came with two sauces, lemons, and mini Tabascos. The wagyu smash burger was pretty good and filling. I'm not the biggest fan of burgers but this one is definitely worth trying! My waiter was attentive and chill. Overall, I enjoyed my experience and can't wait to come back!
