    Brussel sprouts tartine
    Cassi S.

Always a go to rooftop for happy hour and evening hangs. I have been to this Rooftop a bunch and it's one of my favorites. I said at the bar cause I was in town for a work and the bartender Zach (his is amazing) recommended getting the Brussel tartine and it did not disappoint. I was only going to have a few bites, but I ended up devouring the whole thing! Great chill but up beat environment and very friendly staff. Incredible views too!!! Make it a stop if you haven't already!

We went as a big party to J Parker for a friend's birthday. The views and ambience are amazing. Great city views, open rooftop and we even got to see the Wednesday fireworks. The service was VERY slow. We had to wait 30 mins for the server to just come and greet us and hand out the menus. She took another 20 mins to come back to get the order. The drinks and the food, however, were great! We ordered the cheese curds, nachos, fries, onion rings, etc. The French 75 was my favorite cocktail of the night. I will be back but maybe with a smaller party to get better service.

The J. Parker rooftop is beautiful...the hotel entrance and elevator ride up set the tone, and the views are absolutely stunning. The vibe is open, colorful, and chic. We sat by the fire pit (which meant ordering at the bar instead of table service), and while the seating wasn't the most comfortable, the atmosphere made up for it. Fabian, the bartender, was fantastic...friendly, creative, and even made us a custom coconut-based drink that was amazing. He also surprised us with shots. Food was solid across the board: my shredded beef nachos were delicious, the wing sauce was tasty (though the boneless wings were a bit nugget-sized), and the chips and salsa were a hit. Everyone at the table enjoyed their meals, and I'd definitely return for both the food and the service. Downsides: no to go boxes, no change for larger bills, and a misleading TikTok promo (3 courses for $30) that they said hasn't been offered in a long time. Those things were frustrating, but overall, the experience was still very good. Bottom line: stunning views, great service (shoutout to Fabian), tasty food...it's worth going back.

Went for brunch on a Sunday morning. Food was not bad but not great. Wouldn't order anything again except for the bacon. They also said they were out of hashbrowns and asked us if tater tots were fine. We said yes expecting regular tater tots but they crumbled it up themselves and was not great. This place is definitely more of a bar than a restaurant. Vibes were kind of weird during the day. Our server was very nice but the rest of the staff seemed to want us to leave immediately.

Living in the South Loop makes it a little bit hard to get up north/Linclon Park but had a brunch date at this cool rooftop. Cute medium size hotel, with a great rooftop. Try to get a table/seat with the umbrella because during the summer, it's really hot up there. Beautiful views and great places to take pictures but on a hot day, you definitely need water along with the bottomless mimosas lol. The food was really good; I had the waffles and my friend had the modern breakfast. Of course we had the bottomless mimosa/rosé. All delicious. A little pricey but I'm glad I came.

WHAT THE!!! This was actually the worst dining experience I've had in Chicago. Not only was the wait staff short handed (likely not their fault) and inattentive, the amount of BUGS that were flying around was absolutely disgusting. We had to change tables, and once we did and got our food, there were multiple bugs on my fries (pictured) and chicken sandwich. I asked the waitress to comp my meal and the wine (which also had multiple bugs swimming around) and she did, but honestly the entire meal should have been free. We were swatting away bugs the entire time. Awful.

Great views! We came here for drinks and the view. We ended up staying for happy hour that is Sunday -Thursday 4-6pm. There are very unique appetizers. We ordered tuna nachos and salmon poke cups. The appetizers were a good portion and very unique in their taste. We also had an espresso martini which was $10 for happy hour. Their regular drink menu is also very good. If you are in the area stop by.

We recently visited The J Parker to celebrate a friend's birthday on a weekday! We ordered a lot of things - beers, espresso martinis, wine, french 75 and a vodka martini drink. For food, we ordered onion rings, guac and chips, cheese curds, fries, nachos without meat! The food and service were very mediocre and hence I have reduced a few stars. The guac was a bit bland and onion rings were too oily! Definitely visit the place though for beautiful skyline views.

The views here are really pretty. That's about he nicest thing I can say about this place. Went here for dinner on a Saturday night not too busy but the service was lacking. Only checked On once after ordering food. I asked 3 different people for water and it took about 30min for someone to fill it. Our server also messed up our bill. The food was similar to Applebees except twice the price. Chicken wings were just chickens tenders with more salt. Burger was solid. Fries again were super salty. Would not recommend this place except for a quick drink.

Although another rooftop bar in Chicago may claim to have Chicago's best view, I think I'm partial to the view at The J Parker. This is such a great spot to stop in for a drink and take in the spectacular views of the city, parks, and lake. We came here on a whim after a quick rooftop bar search and I'm so glad we found it! They have tables with servers, but we opted to order at the bar and sit at the couch in the corner which was open seating. We were here on a Friday afternoon and there were a few other groups in this area when we arrived, but after a while we had the whole couch section to ourselves. I ordered wine and my boyfriend cocktails. The drinks were a little inconsistent in pour size and taste depending on which bartender was taking your order, but we still enjoyed sipping while looking out at the wonderful view.

Let me just say this first... the ambiance is SO chic! I loved all the pictures and the vinyls throughout the restaurant. Very attentive and, what I appreciated most, she was actually honest about what she liked and what she didn't. I love when a server will give you their REAL opinion instead of telling you everything on the menu is good. I decided to try the Elote Deviled Eggs because I wanted something different. And different they were! If you're a deviled egg lover, just know this isn't your typical deviled egg. They're served on top of a slice of corn on the cob, which I thought was pretty unique. Now let's talk about these chicken wings... I was VERY disappointed. To me, they tasted like frozen wings that were thrown in the oven for a few minutes... or maybe it was the sauce? Either way, I would not recommend the wings. That was definitely a miss for me. BUTTTT the crispy zucchini fries with the aioli??? Yeahhhh, those were GOOD! 8/10 for me. I could definitely order those again. I also had the Pillow Talk drink and it was delicious! Definitely enjoyed that. My friend ordered the crab cake and let me tell you... REAL crab! None of that fake stuff lol. That was really good too. Overall, I enjoyed the atmosphere, the music, the service and definitely some of the food. There were a couple misses for me, but I'd come back and try some other things on the menu. I'll start out by saying that the time in the Aviary was the best cocktail experience we have ever had. Not saying the best cocktails (even though they were very good), but the best experience as far as interesting presentations and overall service combined with good cocktails that when you were drinking them did not feel gimmicky at all, but that everything had a purpose. My wife did the 3 drink progression and ordered The Partridge, The 3 Martini Lunch, and the non-alcoholic version of the Kyoto Plum. I got three cocktails, but because I opted for one on their barrel aged part of the menu, my progression was basically a la carte, not the 3 drink $75 price. We also opted for one small bite of food - The Truffle explosion. My drinks were the Cereal Killer, the In The Rocks, and the Blood and Sand. As far as favorites went Joy's Partridge was basically a Mint Julep with some warming spices, but the presentation was great. Almost every table got that drink so it must be well received. My favorite was the Blood and Sand that was just a really well balanced cocktail. I think that part of the menu does not get the elaborate presentations. We both also enjoyed sharing the 3 martini lunch which was a small version of a Vesper, a Gibson, and a dirty Martini. Two things about this drink, we like our martinis with gin rather than vodka (obviously a Vesper has both), but their rules are that there are no changes to their menus, so both the gibson and the dirty martini were vodka based. The Gibson and the Vesper were our favorites of the three as the dirty martini was too dirty. There was even more olive brine if we wanted it dirtier. Bottom line, top notch experience, great friendly service, and the atmosphere was awesome watching the room being served some of the drinks we had, and ones that we did not order. The Truffle Explosion was also a very good bite, basically a truffle/parmesan infused soup dumpling that exploded in your mouth and helped out with a little food in our belly while having all that alcohol at the same time. The only disappointing cocktail was the Kyoto Plum mocktail, interesting presentation, but tasted just like grape juice - no real character. A hostess from Next came and got us and took us to our table in Next for the 1987 Manhattan meal. Thanks for a great experience Aviary!!

We made a reservation for their three course cocktail experience for four of us which required a deposit of $75 per person. Only one of us ended up doing the experience (the rest of us were too full and already tipsy from dinner) but it was nonetheless, a very cool experience. Service was top notch. My partner has admired this place for a long time, as a bartender himself, and he has even learned a thing or two from their Bible-like cookbooks. So when the maitre d offered to allow him to step into the kitchen and help finish one of their cocktails, he was absolutely giddy. This was such a memorable and special touch for us during our visit to Chicago. I loved seeing how the kitchen worked together in a traditional kitchen line but only focusing on cocktails. It was an impressive thing to see. Many of the cocktails are presented in an incredibly theatrical way featuring interesting glassware, dry ice, and even a plastic bag filled with flavored air. I actually wasn't a big fan of the cocktail I ordered (it leaned too heavy into the BBQ flavor for my taste) but I enjoyed trying everyone else's cocktails at the table. I would definitely recommend checking out The Aviary if you are a cocktail enthusiast hoping to try something you can't get anywhere else. It truly is a fine dining experience with mixology at the forefront.

Even the area they kept water for easy access was well thought out. I started with a dozen oysters and ended with the wagyu smash burger, as it was a must order. The wagyu smash burger was pretty good and filling. I'm not the biggest fan of burgers but this one is definitely worth trying! My waiter was attentive and chill. Overall, I enjoyed my experience and can't wait to come back!
